abouzaid: saying that someone runs like a goat pn heat is a very decent and complimentary language?until i see your products in the market next year competing favourable against the foreign made ones, I'll advise you to keep your cards close to your chest. Dude that was not me, I was quoting what dblackninja wrote, asking him how he knows what I know, dblackninja: You know to avoid going round again, what can you produce & design as an elect..engr? Curious at the bolded As for my products, they are unique enough to remove my fear of being plagiarized by even the so called white man's superior ish, and I'm not showing him my products rather I'm taking him to my lab lol, why would I show him that kinda sensitive stuff, |

dblackninja: You should have known that I was generalizing to drive a point home and didn't actually meant you in particular
Do you know why I quoted you? It was because of your statement here:
Can you create & design a car? Sorry the tire of a car? Even to the lowest standard?? If yes then you learnt something in the uni studying mech eng.. If no, then my brother you went there to read & cram textbook just like everyone else First of all I'm not a mech engineer, however even at that put me in a fully equipped mechanical and materials engineering lab, I will whip up a tire and give you all the design specs, and that will be just from what I learnt from strength of materials, and materials /metallurgy classes I took in school, hell I can even do better than that. As for my electrical engineering I can do more than just designs and produce prototypes that solve real world problems, Just because we are constrained by lack of equipment and proper funding/grants does not mean what we learn is useless. Will invite you to my personal lab someday and show you stuff we plan to put in da market next year |

dblackninja: To tell you the truth, Nigerian system of education in the university level is just crappy and won't add any skill for you. It's just a total waste of time unless you are innovative & can think outside the box.
Call an electrical engineering graduate to do some simple alternating wiring and he will burn down your house but call a simple electrician for the job & he will do a neat work.
U mentioned that mech engrs create design & optimize...well I am yet to see a made in Nigeria car, unless am living in pluto, nothing tangible have come from our mech engineers.
Or shall I talk of the botanists that doesn't even know the name of species of plant from just one genus. What he knows is what he heard in the class but bring a cassava leaf for identification, his face will change to-->
What of our electronic engrs, the road side phone and computer repairers are far better than them. They only know how to carry files up and down.
Seriously do you want me to go on? The only thing you know there is: where is 201, 302, 411 lectures holding? & you will run like a goat on heat to grab the front seat & at least get D in the course
Nigerian university education system is just wack...graduate and follow others in file carrying. Don't know where you got your information that the only thing I know is this? Seriously do you want me to go on? The only thing you know there is: where is 201, 302, 411 lectures holding? & you will run like a goat on heat to grab the front seat & at least get D in the course If you were unable to make use of what you were taught in your uni or if u were a victim of lazy lecturers, pls do not add me to your category of person. I know what I got out of the uni, I know what my lecturers gave me, and I know the value of my education. |

Scholar01: I don't have enough time for a detailed response (am actually working on a game presently), but i will tell you that I don't belong to "our own brand" band anymore. Virtually every nigerian website, application and game that I have seen tries to portray the message 'this one na naija product'. But unfortunately, it's not easy to make money off nigerians.
The two main ways to making money from digital products are through adverts or sales/in app purchases. A lot of our people hardly play games with their network on (limiting the first one), and even if they click, you can't compare a nigerian click with say that of US
Also, we hardly buy pay for anything online (including yours faithfully), so making sales/ in app purchases off nigerians na die. As for me, I just dey crack my brain on how to get more of US/ Western european users as they are much more eager to part with their cash Yeah true sha, but I buy everything I use games and apps inclusive, cuz I know that pain of software development |

reggie02: @kishimi8 oh yeah? that's cool! I'm looking to find some partners as well, which is the purpose of creating this thread. @Scholar01 true, it's kinda dull but it's mostly because there hasn't been any "hit" game from naija devs so no motivation for others. If we can achieve that, the dulling will stop... I hope..
Welcome to the thread guys! if you know anyone that's good at any aspect of game development, direct them here please! Also, if you have anything to show off, that'll be awesome. Here's a [non-game dev.] sketch i did some years ago: Sketch looks good but they are all anime characters, can't we get our own characters ? |

I've dabbled with skeleton based chars as well. @kishimi8 hmm... I'm not sure what you mean by assists, but I can make 3D models and animations fairly well! (still learning). I use blender though... I haven't used maya yet. Sorry typo meant assets, I'm building using unreal engine I've done most of the level design. minwafor: Different strokes for different folks. But can you address these issues I will raise below? 1.Please can you name the investors that graced the occasions? 2. What was the modalities used to select the last 3? 3. were you a judge? then what gives you the right to label an ecommerce platform that sells tyres as shit? 4. Where the other participants promised any monetary or promotional incentives before and during the programme?
Thank you. 1, clarify. Your idea of who an investor is, so that I can give you an answer besides the one I already gave you in My write up. 2. I am not privy to the criteria used, however the two contestants that were selected had two of the ideas I could put my money on, so whoever selected them obviously knew good ideas, but for the last unknown guy that guy is just a political money hunter, don't know him he's just some dude with connections, 3. Yeah the tyre selling poo and all the human resource innovation peddling guys are not even supposed to make it, do you know how many people sell tyres online already, I can just wake up and start selling toothpicks online and call it innovation, can you tell me or convince me of the viability of that business idea? Yeah I'm not a judge but I happen to know bs if I see it. Compare the tyre seller to the lady with a biofuel stove and who manufacture the biofuel itself. 4. It's a demo day bro, you come to demo your ideas to the world, not to get paid, hell they even got paid in kind, cuz I met some of them and I'm gonna be patronising their businesses and I helping them spread the word. Nigerian people just want to get free money from the government always |

https://www.techvoize.com/africa/real-truth-aso-villa-demo-day-5164 No name, of participant? Anyway I was there and investors came, went round to check what the participants put on display, Honestly the competition was not an open competition because the things they call innovations I saw there were all crop, you can imagine someone coming with an e-commerce platform that sells tyres and he calls that sh!t innovation, or someone with a loan initiative calling it innovation?!!!!!!!!!!, only about 3 innovative stuff there and out of the three I saw two were amongst the guys that saw Mr president. Even the guy that had the guts to complain how did his name end up in the competition?. And for the complainant you had a chance to be in the villa for 3 days, and meet alot of sponsors but you could not make anything meaningful out of it even contacts u no fit get,? I was a part of an organisation that partly was there to oversee the event, and just by talking 2it random people there I got to make contacts with people from oracle, red hat, and Google, not to talk of the numerous government agencies I never knew of and have even secured a sponsor for one of my projects!!! Was the complainant expecting to just get financial gains without really bringing anything of value to th table, cuz I presume him to be part of the remaining twenty or so people.with crappy stuff at the demo day |

woodcook: Stop being ridiculous. Yes when it was done last the difference between the official price and subsidized price was less than 30 naira. But the difference between the official today and the hajj subsidized prices is well over 200 naira.
Who is fooling who, he should have at least subsidized the hajj trip by the same margin.
However, in my opinion there is no justification for subsidizing fx for religion jamboree whereas students are forced to buy at parallel market rate. 160 - 197 what was black market rates around December last year? And who told you it's even black market rates they are using its central bank rate which is around 295 not that it is good, but if it's not done it will create other problems, now assuming baba did not do it for Christians last year what do you think the opposition would say, it's all in an effort to balance things out. Moreover I'm very sure without an iota of doubt you won't complain if it were for Christians again, you should stop being ridiculous also |
