Bracha: For the UK, you won't be needing a transit visa if you won't be leaving the departure lounge of the airport. For the US you WILL need a transit visa. Please don't go through the US for any reason.
You could use Ethiopian airline Economy Flex, or whichever you choose. Just tell the agent you use that you don't want route through countries that require transit visa: US, Switzerland etc. Modified: I'll suggest Emirates, their service is topnotch; and Lufthansa. Or you could still do Ethiopian airline Business class. Thank you, Bracha |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by Kishkosh: 12:06pm On Jun 10, 2019 |
Mudicua: True. Any international flight will leave Nigeria and go their hubs first before going to the final destination. Except it is a direct flight to the country (e.g BA to UK direct, Delta direct to US, Canada Air direct to Canada).
Ethiopian will take you to Addis first before going into Canada, with a brief stop in Dublin... (but you will not come down) Same applies for Emirates.... first to Dubai, before transiting you to Canada.
Truth is you will not get any direct flight that comes cheap. KLM will go to Amsterdam first before transiting to Canada. I am surprised the flight will have to go into US. I do not know how that works though or why it is so. But if the funds are not a problem, KLM, Lufthansa is nice. Air France (not so cool), Ethiopian air is also cool (if you do not mind the distance). Same with Emirates and Qatar. (comfortable, but very long) Some people I know have used Ethiopian, Egypt and Maroc (for the price)... (Ethiopian is still more favored amongst these 3).
But if it is comfort, then KLM, Lufthansa, BA. (with plenty money) Thank you |

Qudkom: Transit (C) visas are nonimmigrant visas for persons traveling in immediate and continuous transit through the United States en route to another country. You will definitely need a transit visa if you are passing through USA. I will recommend using Lufthansa* layover in frankfurt and then straight to Canada. You don't need a transit visa to transit through Germany. Save yourself the stress. All the best and safe journey in advance. Thanks |

OptimusPrime21: How much is this... am thinking Air morac... pretty cheap I most say.. He's not concerned about the cheap aspect , but comfort . He said those middle East airlines will first fly a long distance to their country and the embark on anothe trip to the main destination. He said it can be frustrating and annoying |

I'd appreciate a bether explanation on the transit visa issue pls, regarding UK and US, I've made effort to check online , but I would appreciate better explanations here. Thanks |

Frankrobbn1: ... I strongly doubt if the 5 years ban can be averted at this point in time after applicant has been served a procedural fairness letter to explain himself prior the issuance of the ban...He might be lucky enough to win the case, only on the account that applicant used a compensated agent and the agent filled the representative form along with his application. For this reason, he will have to hire an experienced Immigration attorney that will file for a judicial review at the High Court of Canada and plea that the applicant's case should be reopened for reconsideration. Aside from the fact that he used an agent, I see no hope of him over turning the ban. Bear in mind that this process is cumbersome, requires your time and large sum of money. An experienced immigration attorney will charge 4000$CAD to write a letter for a case to be taken to the federal level and there is no guarantees whatsoever that the applicant will be successful at the end of everything.
I have an experienced immigration attorney in Canada, I can give the applicant the contact of the attorney so he can try and see what follows next. Thank you boss, I shall get back to you when the need arises. |

makano: Honestly I dnt knw what to say.. The embassy gave him 7 days grace to explain the misinterpretation, he didn't respond to that.. And he ended up getting a 5 years ban.. The deed has been done bro, this is one of the many disadvantages of using agents, these people are just after your money and nothing more... A normal professional agent should have asked him if he has been refused visa anywhere before since he knows that question will be asked when applying.. Personally speaking, I don't see the magic he wants to do to revert that ban.. Except say he sabi BUHARI, OSIBANJO, TRUMP or Queen Elizabeth.. Other peeps that have overturned a Canadian 5 years ban can give solutions tho.. Peace thanks baba.... see you tomorrow Sir |

Guys , pls, a friend of mine contacted some agents to apply for his permit and during the process . The agents never asked him if he's been refused visa for any country b4 and it appears the agents filled No for that part in the IMMM form . Whereas, dude has been refused USA visa b4. So, he said the embassy sent a mail that he should respond to the allegation of "withholding vital info .....blah blah blah " within 7 days and the agents still told him they will sort it out that he shouldn't bother . What I don't know is weda or not the agent lodged the application in a representative capacity .
At the end of the day , my guy was banned for 5 years . Pls, what's the way forward as sin of agents is being visited on innocent applicant .

Bracha: I'd suggest that if you're sure of the visa office handling your application, you send them multiple emails citing flight date, so they know they are about to cost you your ticket.
If your resumption date is in June, include that too. If it is in August or September, don't include it. Nice idea . but can such be a tenable reason for want of speedy processing ? Considering the fact that one can book flight without having a stamped passport . Like me , I'm to resume in September , but then , I still want an expeditious processing of my passport . What else can one do @bracha |

abusmanlouis: This is the message I got from CIC mail today, You can learn from it the process our application go through before final decision.
Good Day,
Thank you for your email.
Kindly note that this application is still under active review by our office. At the moment, we are not in a position to give a clear indication of when we anticipate finalizing this application. However, we wish to inform you that our office is doing the necessary to ensure that this application is processed and finalised within the shortest timeframe possible.
Please note that the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act requires that each person applying for a visa to Canada be screened in many different ways, including health, security and criminality. Often, delays in the processing of an application are out of our control as some processing steps require coordination with external authorities. Therefore some applications due to the complexity of their nature may take a bit longer to finalise than others
Our office will contact you as soon as all verifications are completed and application finalized, or as soon as more information or documents are required.
We realize that the situation is unfortunate and regret that our response could not be more favorable at the moment.
