The question isn't about announcing the programmes and creating troublesome websites. It's about the direct engagement of the youths, it's about the impact, it's about people actually getting employed. It's not about some bogus plans and unplanned programmes in the media.

Jobs/Vacancies / Where Are The 200,000 Graduate Jobs FG Promised To Create Before End Of October? by Klamour: 6:35pm On Oct 31, 2016
On October 11, 2016, VP Osibanjo promised that FG will create 200,000 graduate Jobs before the end of October. Recall this thread:
https://www.nairaland.com/3402109/fg-employ-200000-graduates-october

October will end today in a few hours in from now. Have the 200,000 jobs been created? If yes, where are they? Who are the beneficiaries? When were they advertised? Which sectors were affected?

If no, why haven't they been created? Are we on a rollercoaster ride with this government? How many more promises are we awaiting their breaking?

You see, as I've always said, lies and propaganda have a short life span. Truth doesn't.

This government perpetually operates in the future tense: "we will," "we will," "we will," and more "we will." You hardly read of "we have" because "we have" requires concrete evidence, and concrete evidence is the mortal enemy of propaganda.

Let those around the corridors of power satisfy our curiosity. Nigerians, especially the unemployed graduates, we are entitled to be treated with some modicum of decorum by people, some of whom have not seen the four walls of the Ivory Towers, but ununfortunately, today, due to our actions or lack of it, are piloting our future.

It's time to simply ASK!! !

They may just be borrowing for 2019 elections anyway. Naija yaf finishhhh.

Rubbish.

DSS went to thh houses of the Judges with arrest warrants and they refused to open the door. Of course they had to do what they have to do to enfore the arrest.

Are Judges above the law? Are judges not Nigerians?

Are judges allowed to be corrupt?

WHich law states when someone can be arrested or not?

Where is Ricky Tarfa and his 70 lawyers today? Are we saying corruption fight must exclude the Judiciary, just because they are Judges and lawyers?.

So the mandate of DSS is now arresting "corrupt" Judges instead of security and Security intelligence Gathering. What's then the duty of EFCC, ICPC and Police?

What's the function of NJC? Have you ever thought about the sanctity of the principle of Separation of Powers in a democracy? Independence of the Judiciary? The onerous duty of a Judge to adjudicate matters before him without fear or favour?

Has the DSS arrested those that Allegedly offered bribes to the Judges?

Have you ever wondered the effect of this singular act on Nigeria's nascent democracy? How do you and I expect to get justice when the Judiciary haS been intimidated and converted to cowards by the Executive?

Politics / Invasion Of Judges’ Homes: Adegboruwa Asks NBA To Boycott Courts Indefinitely by Klamour: 5:32pm On Oct 08, 2016
Invasion Of Judges’ Homes: Adegboruwa asks NBA to boycott courts indefinitely until…

ON OCTOBER 8, 20165:31 PMIN NEWSCOMMENTS

Human rights lawyer, Mr. Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, Saturday, asked the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA to indefinitely boycott the courts to protest the invasion of the homes judges by operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS.

Adegboruwa, in a statement described the raid as full blown dictatorship now in action, adding that it is now a case of anarchists in power.

The statement read: “As judges have no voices to speak officially, I call on the Nigerian Bar Association to declare an indefinite strike so that all courts of law in Nigeria will be boycotted until there is respect for the rule of law and the Constitution, commencing from Monday, October 10, 2016, until further notice.

“The clampdown on judges has been on for a long time, through agents of government in the various institutions of oppression. We are now back to the 1984 jackboot system of intolerance, where all dissenting views and opinions must be silenced.

“It is condemnable for the DSS, which is an arm of the executive, to be breathing down on the judicial arm of government, under the guise of fighting corruption. It is now clear without any shadow of doubt that the so-called anti-corruption war is a hidden agenda to perpetuate the Gen Buhari regime in office beyond 2019. It is meant to silence the opposition and to cover the inefficiency and cluelessness of this administration.

“The 1999 Constitution in sections 4, 5 and 6 prescribes the system of separation of powers between the three arms of government. But since 2015 when this government was sworn in, the executive arm under Gen Buhari has dominated and brutalised the other two arms of government. The leadership of the National Assembly is under trial and it is now the turn of the judiciary.”

According to Adegboruwa, in a democracy, the rule of law prescribes the independence of the judiciary, where judges must be allowed to take decision according to law and according to their consciences.

He said the invasion of the homes of judges by the DSS “should never happen that the executive is indirectly threatening and intimidating members of the third estate of the realm.

“The judiciary is the arm that stabilises democracy and should not be exposed to ridicule or opprobrium in the manner that the DSS is currently doing,” the lawyer said.

“I believe that the hidden motive of all these is traceable to the power tussle between leaders of the ruling party and in the days of lawlessness that will be unleashed by those who are in power, it has become necessary to capture the judiciary, to whom the victims of this power tussle will likely turn.

“Any fight against corruption must be done under the rule of law and there is no law that authorises the invasion of the home of a judge at an unholy hour of 1am. Being public officers, there is no way these judicial officers would have absconded or run away from normal arrest during the day, if need be.

“This is the height of executive lawlessness and crass intolerance. We do not advocate that those alleged to be corrupt should not face their due trial, but that should be done in an atmosphere of dignity and respect for the fundamental rights of the suspects.”

He added that this was dangerous and condemnable since “we are not under a military rule.

Crime / Army Denies Boko Haram Hoisting Flag In Borno Villages by Klamour: 6:42pm On Sep 27, 2016
The Nigerian army has denied report that Boko Haram terrorists hoisted flags in some villages in Borno state.

On Monday, September 26, reports surfaced that some armed gunmen believed to be Boko Haram members attacked Kuburvwa village in Borno state.

Naij.com reported that the gunmen invaded the village at about 6.30pm and started shooting sporadically causing the locals to take refuge in the bushes around them.

It was rumoured that the terrorist had taken over some villages in the region and hoisted their flags as a mark of victory.

However, in a statement by Colonel Kukasheka Usman who is the spokesperson of the army on Tuesday, September 27, he said although there was a gun fight between troops and terrorists, there was no hoisting of flag.

Read the full statement below:

Yesterday, at about 5.00pm suspected elements of Boko Haram terrorists, scavenging for food, attacked Kwang village and Vigilantes from Dagu (which is about 4 kilometres from Kwang), responded and repelled the terrorists attack.

During the fire fight that ensued, one of the vigilantes sustained gun shot wound on his hand and was evacuated to General Hospital Uba while the terrorists fled with gun shot wounds.

Troops were eventually despatched to the area with clear orders to pursue and deal with the terrorists. They are still exploiting.

Similarly, same day, at about 4.35pm some suspected remnants of Boko Haram terrorists attacked Boftari which is about 15 kilometres from Chibok town.

On receipt of the information, troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE stationed in Forward Operation Base Chibok, mobilized to the area.

The troops encountered Boko Haram terrorists ambush site shortly before Kuburmbula village. They quickly cleared the ambush and proceeded to Boftari.

Unfortunately, the terrorists had set some houses on fire and fled. The troops put out the fire and are currently on the hunt for the terrorists.

It is imperative to state that contrary to rumours flying around some media reports, no life was lost.

Additionally, there is no presence of the terrorists in any of the villages talk less of hoisting flags as alleged.

The troops have continued to maintain high level of vigilance.

Meanwhile, Boko Haram attack in two different attacks killed at least eight Nigerian soldiers in Borno state.

An army statement said that the militant sect attacked a convoy late on September 25, near Bama, 70 km southeast of Maiduguri, the state’s capital causing the deaths of an army officer, three soldiers, and three attackers.

Politics / Katsina State Distributes Goats Worth N104 Million To Women For Empowerment by Klamour: 4:19pm On Aug 02, 2016
The Katsina State Government has distributed 720 high breed of goats worth N104 million for distribution to women under its Women Empowerment Scheme. Alhaji Abdulkadir Nasir, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Economic Empowerment, disclosed this on Tuesday in Katsina at the launching of the programme. He said that each of 240 women selected across the 34 local governments would be given two female goats and one male goat. The official said that the animals, which were purchased in Niger Republic, were of highly reproductive and good for breeding. “Research has showed that the goats reproduce twice a year and give up to two liters of milk daily. “The goats are also insured for one year and veterinary officers will be going round in all the local governments to provide medication to the animals if the need arises,’’ he said. Nasir said that the animals were being given to the beneficiaries under a loan scheme and the cost was expected to be repaid after a year. He urged the beneficiaries not to sell the animals and ensure their proper care. Nasir also said that the government had disbursed N30 million to 1,890 physically challenged people across the state to establish small-scale businesses. He said that the government had also empowered one physically challenged from each local government area with a shop, generator, charging board, recorder and N20,000 worth of recharge cards to engage in business. The special adviser said that N340 million was also disbursed to various organised trade associations in the state, all in efforts to boost small and medium scale enterprises in the state. Gov. Aminu Masari said that the loans were part of the N2 billion loan obtained from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for the development of Small Scale and Medium Entrepreneurship. He said that loan attracted nine per cent interest rate and would be paid by the state government. Masari urged the beneficiaries to utilise the loans judiciously. Malama Maryam Abdullahi, one of the beneficiaries, commended the government for initiating the scheme.

Aisha Buhari cancels planned trip to US

by AljazirahNigeria

The Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari has cancelled her scheduled trip to the United States of America for the World First Ladies Conference holding at Colorado.

Many Nigerians had hoped Aisha Buhari would have used the opportunity of the visit to put to rest the controversies surrounding her name in the Halliburton bribery scandal.

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State had earlier claimed that Aisha Buhari has been avoiding the United States because of her alleged involvement in the  scandal, reports News 24.

Rather than attend the conference, the President’s wife has opted to perform the lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia.

The media director in the Office of the Wife of the President, Zakari Nadabo, who announced the cancellation of the US trip, however, did not give any reason for Aisha Buhari’s decision

fiizznation:
Everybody knew that Fulani herdsmen kidnapped the respected elderly statesman, chief olu falae. There were pictorial and video evidences. The culprits were also interviewed. I believed that story and I know my brothers did it. The Ogun incident too came with a lot of evidences that Fulani herdsmen were involved.

But this particular nimba uzo incident is very ludicrous. The entire thing looks like some kind of acting. Fulani people don't roam around that area with their cattle(I have evidences). The reports were clashing with one another. Vanguard knew about the attack even before it happened and they didn't report it to DSS, army etc. How could 500 later 50 herdsmen attack a community without any provocation?

I'm trying so hard not to sound abusive.

First, you don't know anything about the village, town and LG attacked. There's nothing like NIBA UZO which your research was anchored on.

The place attacked is 15 mins drive from my house and its UKPABI NIMBO, UZO-UWANI LGA, ENUGU STATE.

Uzo-Uwani has the highest concentration of Fulani settlements in the whole of Enugu, I dare to say SE.

Uzo-Uwani is a farming destinations with arable land, flushed with grasses for the cattle.

Uzo-Uwani is the largest producer of rice in Enugu State, with the famous Ada Rice Farm (Adani Rice).

I have personally had an encounter with the Fulani herdsmen some years back at my own backyard, destroying our cassava farms. We banned them from our community.

It's not hard to identify herdsmen when you see them, even without the cattle. They don't look like us in any way.

The survivors know who attacked them, and they are FULANI HERDSMEN.

They treasure their cattle more than human life and are always displaying violence when you ask them to vacate your farm lands.

If they graze in your land, you need extra job tilling the land as the hoofs of the cattle will compact the soil. Uzo-Uwani soil being loamy-clay is hardened easily.

Please mister researcher, get your data well before spewing trash on social media.

DON'T ATTRACT CURSES FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR GENERATION, BUT IF YOU INSIST, THE FATE OF THE DECEASED IN UKPABI NIMBO, UZO-UWANI LGA, ENUGU STATE IN THE HANDS OF FULANI HERDSMEN WILL BEFALL YOU AND YOUR GENERATION.

 27 states can’t pay salaries
Details of recovered loot out soon
By Onyebuchi Ezigbo

As the National Executive Committee meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) got underway in Abuja Thursday, President Muhammadu Buhari said the Federal Government has so far mopped up over N3 trillion as revenue accruals since the policy of Treasury Single Account commenced.

He also responded to public demands for accountability for monies recovered from indicted former government officials and others facing corruption charges, assuring that details of such recoveries will be made public very soon so that Nigerians will know that efforts made were not in vain.

Addressing leaders of the party at the national secretariat in Abuja, Buhari said regardless of the present challenges, nobody can contradict the fact that what his administration is focusing on at the moment remains very critical to the development and overall well-being of the people.

He tried to paint a clear picture of the dire state of the economy when he told members of the highest decision-making body of APC that  27 out  of  the 36 states are having serious problems in paying their workers’ salaries, a situation he attributed to  financial indiscretion of the former PDP-led administration.

While highlighting some of the achievements of his nine-month administration, the President said the FG has been able to mop up more than N3 trillion from payments into the TSA since its inception.
He said that TSA savings will be redeployed and distributed to all the critical sectors of the economy as soon as the implementation of the 2016 budget commences.

Also in the area of corruption in the oil sector, President Buhari said the government will soon begin prosecution so that Nigerians will begin to appreciate the position on the malfeasance that has gone on.

However, President Buhari said the administration is not finding it easy securing relevant evidences to prosecute the corruption  suspects but that more work is being done to ensure that those indicted are duly and properly prosecuted.

In his opening speech, the national Chairman of APC, Chief John Oyegun said notwithstanding some notable progress made by the APC administration, there is need for the leaders to have some introspection and reflections on the best way forward.

President Buhari arrived at exactly 11 am for the NEC meeting along with the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and Speak of the House of Reps, Dogara.

It may seem like the whole noise about "fighting corruption and recovery of looted funds" by this administration is mere Window dressing.

If Mr. President channels the resources for this China trip (estacodes, aviation costs, lodgings, feeding, etc) of himself and his entourage into recovering the looted funds, it will surely have outstanding benefits for our dear country, especially in the midst of economic crunch.

Rather than that, we waste more, going to borrow to finance a budget. So pathetic!
Politics / Recover $200bn Loot, Shelve $2bn Loan Plan, Falana Tells FG April 11, 2016 by Klamour: 10:30am On Apr 11, 2016
Ade Adesomoju, Abuja

A human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), has advised the Federal Government to shelve its plan to obtain $2bn loan from China.

He said instead of “plunging the nation into more indebtedness” the Federal Government should intensify efforts to recover some funds totalling about $200bn which were either not remitted to the Federation Account or stolen from the nation’s treasury.
Falana gave this advice in a letter dated April 8, 2016, addressed to the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, threatening to sue the Federal Government if his request was not taken seriously.

He said, “In the light of the foregoing, we are compelled to call on the Federal Government to muster the political will and courage to recover the aforesaid withheld or stolen wealth of not less than $200bn belonging to the Nigerian people.

“However, if you refuse to accede to our request we shall have no alternative than to initiate legal proceedings at the Federal High Court with a view to restraining the Federal Government from further plunging the nation into external indebtedness.”

Earlier in a letter dated February 12, 2016 addressed to the minister, Falana had urged the Federal Government to jettison its plan to take a loan of $2.5bn from the World Bank and $1bn from the African Development Bank.

Falana had then urged the  Federal Government to explore alternative sources of raising revenue to fund the 2016 budget “instead of increasing the nation’s external debt of $64bn.”

He said in his fresh letter to Adeosun on Friday that the minister had  assured him that the issues raised in his letter were receiving the attention of the Federal Government.

His fresh letter titled, ‘Request for the collection of outstanding revenue of $200bn withheld from the Federation Account or stolen by looters.’

“In particular, we requested the Federal Government to embark on the recovery of the   revenue of $42bn  withheld from the Federation Account from 1999 to 2012 by some transnational oil companies, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and other agencies  of the Federal Government.

“In your reply dated March 17, 2016 you assured us that the issues raised in our letter were receiving the attention of the Federal Government.

“We were therefore surprised to learn that the Administration had applied to the Chinese Government for another loan of $2bn.

“In urging the Federal Government to desist from taking the loan of $2bn from China or any other country we are compelled to advise the Federal Government to intensify efforts to recover the nation’s wealth which has been criminally diverted by a handful of local and foreign looters.”

Remember that his policies, actions and inactions affects Nigerians at home directly more than the diasporas.

Recall that the implementation of this padded budget affects Nigerians at home more than those in diaspora.

Bear in mind that in one of his numerous foreign trips, he called Nigerians in diaspora "criminals" and urged them to stay put at home.

And whenever this Ajala steps out, he's visiting Nigerians in diaspora, spewing trash.

More than 170 million Nigerians at home deserves to be addressed by their President (if we have one).
