Politics / Re: Ugwuanyi Inaugurates New Enugu State Multi-Door Courthouse Building by Klamour: 6:00am On Dec 18, 2022
Many comments here evidenced crass ignorance of the justice system. A Multi Door Courthouse isn’t meant to send anyone to prison. It’s a building for handling alternative dispute resolution mechanisms (ADR) procedure in resolving CIVIL CASES (not CRIMINAL MATTERS) to avoid clogs and delay’s associated with the regular courts.

This is meant to decongest the courts in Favour of the poor mainly because it’s cheaper and faster. Justice is achieved through ADR mechanisms and issues are promptly resolved.

Faster justice system is one of the economic indices of any nation or state. Investors want to be assured that disputes won’t last for decades if it arises and this is one way to achieve it.

Kudos to Ugwuanyi!!

There they go again - money politics; vote buying; continued slavery; economic hardship everywhere. Our politicians do not feel the heat of bad governance because they loot our common treasure.

Ordinary Nigerians can't afford basic things of life - eating is now like luxury. STOMACH INFRASTRUCTURE stays till you shit out, then the main landlord HUNGER takes possession. It is better you choose to be taught how to fish than receiving fish every 4 years.

Nigerians, be wise and VOTE WISELY!!!

Glad you finally answered the f**lish man just as the Bible instructed.

What the Europeans and Arabs brought down to Africa as religion isn't linking us to God, rather, it's imposing human doctrines and inclinations on blacks.

If this religion takes anyone to God, Oyibo won't bring it to Africa for free.
Godliness is the way to God and can ONLY come from ardent studying and application of Scriptural principles.

@Donald95

Please find a way of locating or getting the number of the girl's father and report this to him.

Second, you need to convince that little girl to open up to you more and cooperate with you in obtaining some hard (physical evidence) of the rape. She can arrange and inform you whenever the man comes to her. Even if she gave her consent, its Statutory Rape, because she's a minor and incapable of giving consent.

Third, You can approach the Ministry of Woman Affairs in your state. They handle such issues completely. They'll rehabilitate the family and secure accommodation for them, in collaboration with some NGO's that work with them.

Know that a crime is both an ACT and OMISSION. In this instance, your failure to get the authorities involved amounts to an OMISSION which is a crime. further, your conscience will not allow you condone such abuse and destruction of a young girl's life because of the gross stupidity of her parents.

That little girl, if not helped, will end up being a misnomer in the society. This is what makes 90% of girls become sex workers (early sexual abuse) which leads to lack of self worth and confidence.

Please, help the girl.

Stop borrowing pension funds to finance budget deficits, Oshiomhole tells FG
By Unini Chioma - July 25, 2019

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has advised the Federal Govrnment to stop borrowing from the pension funds to finance budget deficits.

Oshiomhole, who stated this yesterday at the opening of a presidential policy retreat at the Presidential Villa, Abuja said all pension assets must be deployed to investments in critical sectors that impact directly on the lives of ordinary Nigerians. He said it was unfair to use pension funds that are the contribution of poor Nigerian workers to finance projects that often do not benefit them directly.

The APC chairman, who called for a complete overhaul of Federal Government’s economic policies to address inequalities and tackle poverty, said there was need to develop long term plans that would replace the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan which expires in a couple of years. He said that poverty has continued to ravage Nigerians despite efforts by the current administration to address the scourge.

Oshiomhole explained that PENCOM was originally initiated to provide long term loans for housing development. “The logic behind introducing the pension scheme under PENCOM, was that the workers’ social capital that they deducted every month, which they would not need to draw on until they retire about 30 years or 35 years later, provide a basis for long term fund.

Happily, PENCOM has generated over N5-6 trillion since it commenced operation. “Unfortunately, the money is borrowed by government, both federal and state and unfortunately it is not available to address the social purpose of the working people whose contributions the pension fund evolved.

“I ask our expert to recognize that the primary purpose of the workers’ social capital is that it would be creatively managed and deployed to workers’ social needs including housing, education and all the other factors. It wasn’t meant to fund government’s deficit, it wasn’t meant to support Federal Government deficit; it was meant to address the primary social purpose of those who work so that they are sure that by the time they are retired, they have a modest home to retire to. “I think we must visit these issues, address them.

The poor people’s money must be used to address the critical challenges of the poor. May God drive our thoughts, our processes and rejig everything so that at the end of the day, those people would say, Yes, sai baba! We elected him, we trusted him and he has delivered.

“Everywhere in the world, people have access to credit. We have to drop a system where unless you have stashed away millions of naira, you can’t build a house in Nigeria,” he said.

The APC chairman called on the participants at the retreat to come up with implementable policies to address Nigeria’s social economic crises. He noted that despite the progress made in the economy under the Buhari administration, there are still huge gaps to be filled, adding that “there is room for improvement.”

“On the economy, there is the challenge of high rate of poverty, inequality, access to credit and mortgage. Mr President, I know deep in your heart and assessing the basis of our campaign the issue of inequality is primary.

“We don’t just want to grow the economy; we need to create more wealth. We are also interested in who is benefiting from this wealth and what policy instruments are required to ensure that inequality is addressed and that the average Nigerian people, particularly the mass that constitutes the electorate, benefit from the fruit of growth.

“This will require a review of access to credit and access to mortgage, unemployment, low level of manufacturing and the need for diversification of the economy. In addition, there is the need to increase our revenue, block leakages and ensure that our budget delivers services to the citizens,” he said. Speaking on the anticorruption war of the current administration, he advocated the need to ensure more actions and preventive measures by involving Nigerian citizens, the society in the prosecution of offenders.

“There are many who have said that we should not just pursue corruption, we should deal with how to even prevent it. Everywhere in the world, people have access to credit. We can’t continue with a system where you have to have N20 million, N50 million or even N100 million to be able to build a house. “The banking system is not delivering to the ordinary people. Access to credit remains a major issue.

Let me share my own ignorance, I am unable to understand, for example as a worker, why in Europe when they are in economic recession, they reduce their interest rate, in Nigeria, when we are in recession, we increase our interest rate. “How do we price money at such level and expect that the ordinary people can borrow to set up businesses? We do need practical solutions beyond theories. We need to re-examine our condition what we saw is different from what we see elsewhere in the world.

“If you want to buy a car, Mr. President, you must have N20 million to pay cash. To have N20 million to pay cash, if you are not a big businessman, it cannot possibly come from a legitimate salary, given the known salary structure in the Nigerian public sector and even the disclosed portion of the Nigerian private sector. “So, if people desire to buy a car and the banking system is not open to credit, the only way is to steal big in order to purchase. But we have all travelled round the world, 10 per cent is enough to own a car if you have verifiable job and a banking history and you pay in instalment.

“So, we do need to review all of these so that in dealing with corruption, we deal with the preventive part,” he added. Oshiomhole also called for mechanism to increase revenue and blocking leakages and ensuring that every revenue agency remits to the federation account what is due in a timely manner. Other suggestions made by the APC chairman was for participants at the retreat to come up with what he called, the “how and a radical change”.

He also called for a rejig of the nation’s security apparatus and operationally use community policing which is already being discussed. The APC national chairman also said that there was need for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to have a strategic plan to review the question of how, since it is obvious that many people now know the problems confronting the country.

Resign or we’ll force you out, Miyetti Allah tells Saraki sad

August 22, 2018
John Charles Makurdi

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association on Tuesday warned the President of Senate, Bukola Saraki, to resign his position immediately or be forced to do so.

The national coordinator of the association in Benue State, Alhaji Garus Gololo, gave the warning in an interview with our correspondent in Makurdi.

Gololo said Saraki had created numerous problems for the administration of President Muhammad Buhari, which he said had affected the economic and social growth of the nation.

“It is on this note that we are saying that Saraki ought not to be in office again as Senate President, more so, Saraki has failed to coordinate and organise the National Assembly to offer quality legislation that Nigerians need.

“Nigerians are in dire need of people that have the interest of the masses. Miyetti Allah is looking for a leader that would preside over the affairs of the Senate with ultimate respect for the executive and the judiciary, not someone like Senator Saraki that would always scheme to outdo the Presidency.

“We are now tired of Saraki’s style of leadership at the National Assembly. Therefore, we are now warning him to honourably resign his position as president of the Senate or we will force him out”, Gololo said, refusing, however, to explain how the association would remove the Senate president.

Reacting to the comment by Governor Ortom accusing a former Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Tsav, of being an agent of the Miyetti Allah, Gololo said Tsav was not a member of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association or a Fulani man by tribe and couldn’t have been an agent of the Miyetti Allah.

He urged governor Ortom to face his problem with the EFCC and leave Miyetti Allah alone.

“Ortom should forget about anything called Miyetti Allah and grazing law and fight for his re-election because Benue people and his new party (PDP) have rejected him,” adding that the PDP would not give him the ticket to run in the 2019 governorship election in the state.

My AC has been performing below standard and I felt it's gas or compressor, until I visited one experienced technician. After thorough check, he simply said I should change the air filter. I couldn't believe it, cause I never envisaged that the air filter will need change unless it's damaged. Was anticipating taking the filter to a vulcaniser to blow out the dirt.

I changed the filter and my AC started freezing. Was damn HAPPY.

You don't need to file for divorce yet. The problem is from both you and your wife.

First, while trying to please your wife and impress your in-laws, you over indulged them from the beginning (maybe during the marriage). They now have the feeling that you have the money, and so, MUST SPEND IT ON THEM (as if you don't have a family you came from.

Second, the woman you married HAVE NOT COME TO APPRECIATE WHAT IT MEANS TO START A NEW HOME. She and her family still think that your own HOME (FAMILY) is an extension of theirs. You need to clear the doubt.

Solution: Be a man, let them know in clear terms that they're not WORKING FOR YOU and as such, not be expecting pays from you. You must discuss with your wife and as a man, MAKE A FIRM DECISION of what both extended families are entitled to AT THE END OF THE YEAR (unless there is an emergency).

If your wife feels otherwise, then, you have to RENEGOTIATE THE UNION.
It's not easy bro, I've been there. Be strong,, you'll pull it through.

This is appalling, especially coming from the Presiding Justice of the COA.

To understand the magnitude of this occurrence, it is imperative to provide the following details:

1. The COA accepts 21 copies of every processes filed for appeal, this gives you 21 FILES of all the processes.
2. About 7 of them are specially designated for the Panels that will hear the appeal.
3. Each Panel of the Justices are at least made up of three Justices

What this means is that 21 copies of the Processes filed from the Notice of Appeal to the Brief of Argument are now missing at the Court of Appeal Registry, Abuja, Headquarters of the Court of Appeal, Nigeria.

Anyway, i'm not surprised so much in this dispensation.

We had:

1. Missing budget
2. Rat pursuing a President from his office
3. Snake swallowing N36 million
4. Several missing monies

What is Kanu's case file not to miss?

UN: 3 Borno LGAs Inaccessible, Many Others Partially Accessible

* Declares most roads to southern parts of state unusable

Top News Oct 23, 2017

The United Nations has said in spite of efforts by the Nigerian military to contain the menace of terrorism in the North-east, three local government areas in Borno State still remain completely inaccessible to aid workers as a result of the threat posed by the Boko Haram sect. The organisation, which stated that though accessibility to most parts of the crisis-ravaged region could improve at the end of the rainy season, however raised the alarm that the same circumstance could equally increase the rate of attacks from the terrorist group.

In its monthly report, titled, “North-East Nigeria: Humanitarian Situation Update” for the month of September, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), while highlighting the prevailing security challenges, argued that many local government councils in Borno State were no longer accessible for humanitarian aid. It stated that insecurity, presence of mines, improvised explosive devices, and unexploded ordinances had continued to slow down the response of humanitarian agencies in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states.
While not specific about the particular local governments affected, the UN reiterated that in the three affected states, three local governments remained completely inaccessible, with 26 partly accessible, and 37 fully accessible. It added that all the inaccessible and most of the partially accessible local government areas were in Borno State, the birthplace and hotbed of the Boko Haram insurgency.

However, a source in Borno State identified the three unreachable local councils as Abadam, Kukawa, and Mobbar.

“Most roads to the south, south-west and east remain unusable due to security concerns and most humanitarian personnel movement is done through air assets. Cargo, however, is being transported via road with armed escorts as a last resort,” the UN said.

According to it, “No humanitarian aid is currently reaching locations in these LGAs outside of the LGAs’ main towns called ‘headquarters’. Major humanitarian supply routes towards the west, north-west and north are open for humanitarians without the use of armed escorts. Following advocacy efforts, Konduga and Mafa are now also accessible to aid groups without military escorts.”

But the UN has complained that the failure of donors worldwide to fully meet their financial commitment towards the North-east has made it impossible for interventions. The UN said, “As the response enters the final quarter of the year, additional funding is needed to meet the targets laid out in the 2017 Humanitarian Response Plan. Certain sectors that are key in kick-starting the transition into the recovery phase, such as Health, Education and Response and Recovery Planning have continued to be dramatically under-funded with 21, 12 and 5 per cent of the required funding received as of 30 September.”

But the Director of Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Sani Usman, while speaking to THISDAY, said the Army would not comment on the matter until it had studied the report. Usman noted that while the Army was not in a haste to dispute the UN OCHA report, it would be discreet in responding to such report.

In a related development, the Nigerian Air Force yesterday said it had bombed Boko Haram locations and scattered their hideouts. NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya, stated, “The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Component of Operation LAFIYA DOLE conducted an attack on a location in URGA area close to KONDUGA.

“Previous intelligence reports gathered through Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions by NAF ISR platforms, had indicated the presence of a large number of Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) in DURWAWA settlement in the outskirt of URGA.

“Accordingly, one Alpha Jet aircraft was detailed to carry out air interdiction on the target. Overhead the location, the aircraft acquired and attacked the target twice with bombs.”

Adesanya maintained, “Subsequent Battle Damage Assessment revealed that the aerial attack set off a fire, causing damage to the BHT structures within the settlement and neutralizing most of the BHTs while a few of them fled the location. The aerial attack by the NAF is in furtherance of efforts at ensuring the complete decimation of the BHTs and breaking their will to continue their terrorist attacks on innocent Nigerians.”

But in what seemed like a confirmation of fears raised in the UN report, Boko Haram insurgents at the weekend abducted three young women in Maggar village of Madagali council, Adamawa State. Chairman of the council, Yusuf Muhammad, confirmed the abduction to THISDAY and revealed that the women were abducted by the insurgents while working on their farms on the outskirts of Maggar village He said soldiers and local hunters had been mobilised to track down the abductors with a view to rescuing the victims. But at the time of filing this report, there was no news on their whereabouts.

Muhammad lamented that the insurgents had been launching a series of attacks on his council, saying proactive measures need to be taken by the federal government to curtail the attacks in the area. Eyewitnesses from the area have also confirmed the development.

Magar is a remote village, about 25 kilometres from Gulak town, the headquarters of Madagali Local Government Area. The area had fallen to Boko Haram control before its liberation by the military in 2015.
