It's like you don't pray for a hungry man, you give him food then pray for him.

FamilyRe: I Fell Off My Mum's Back And I Am Scared My Man Could Die by KMB: 1:41am On Aug 01, 2014
ocman: Please I need your help. I'm 27 and a graduate.I broke up with my boyfriend of 3 months a few weeks back because he picks on any thing I do and reads different meanings to it. Two weeks ago, a guy I dated in 2006 when I was a virgin came back.

Then we were more like friends but now he wants marriage. The Ex I broke up with also wants me back. I got the shock of my life when my family gathered to tell me I have a sacrifice I need to do because my mum confessed that I fell off her back. NowI have done the atonement and thank God it wasn't diabolical. My problem is that I am scared to bring any of these guys home because I don't want any of them to die. I have cried and cried cos I don't know why this is happening now.

As for my mum, we aint in good terms anymore for keeping this all these years. Pls guys, what do you think I should do?

Biliamin: This is very strange to him. The little boy wrote it in his play book and showed it to his dad.

The guy is worried cos he only talked to the little boy for doing a wrong thing. He's getting more worried cos he did not expect such a thing from a little boy like him and doesn't even know how to appease the boy.

I have decided to post it so we can all learn from people's advice
If it's to do with chastisement he will get over it. We have all been there.

However if it's to do with something else such as neglect then attention is required.

There is no instruction book to raise a child, you learn as you all grow together.

Or maybe the child nowhas younger sibling getting all the attention.

Regardless, just love the child. Whenhe grows up, he/she will lookat the play book and wonder where that came from
Car TalkHow To Drive In Lagos by KMB(op): 8:16pm On Jul 27, 2014
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/07/25-rules-of-engagement-lagos-driving-lesson-101/

1. When in doubt, accelerate!

2. Be prepared to ram into anything stopping you that is wearing uniform in Lagos (police, traffic warden, FRSC, Kai brigade, fire brigade, VIO, LASTMA, LAMATA, LASWA)

3. If you get caught by any chance, do not allow them to enter your car, if they happen to get in do not drive from that spot (veer off traffic & settle promply), and if they don’t agree, pretend that you are calling your uncle who is in the army (believe me it always works), never follow them to any sort of office except you are ready to pay ten times more than what was demanded.

4. Never give police or VIO your original particulars (whether expired or up to date).

5. Danfo drivers believe they are immortal. Never yield to the temptation to teach them otherwise.

6. Okada riders have a pact with suicide, avoid them like a plaque.

7. Avoid BRT buses in all ramifications, they have no brakes.

8. Taxi cabs (oko asewo) should always have the right of way, all of them have been driving in Lagos for 25 years.

9. Never, ever, stop for a pedestrian unless he flings himself under the wheels of your car.

10. The first parking space you see will be the last parking space you see. Grab it. Survival of the fittest you may say!

11. Learn to swerve abruptly. In Lagos, potholes (and sometimes car-holes) are put in key locations to test drivers’ reflexes and shock absorbers,( I saw one man fishing in one of the potholes last week).

12. There is no such thing as “one-way” in Lagos. Expect traffic from any direction at all times. The okada riders are the experts in this area.

13. Never get in the way of a car that needs extensive bodywork, except you want to spend your whole Saturday at the panel beater’s place.

Morning rush hours

14. Morning rush-hours are equivalent to Lagos grand prix (who gets to the junction first).

15. There is no such thing as a short-cut during rush-hour traffic in Lagos. Everybody might be inclined to take that ’short-cut’.

16. When asking for directions, always ask at least three people. Lagosians always claim to know every inch of the city – even areas they’ve never been to.

17. Use extreme caution when pulling into service lanes. Service lanes are not for breaking down the traffic, but for speeding, especially during rush hour.

18. Never use directional signals, since they only confound and distract other Lagos drivers, who are not used to them.

19. Similarly, never attempt to give hand signals. Lagos drivers, unused to such courtesies, will think you are making obscene gestures to them. This could be very bad for you in Lagos.

20. Hazard lights (popularly called “double pointer”) is not, (as commonly supposed) used to indicate a hazard. It is a warning to you that he is a bonafide Lagos driver, he’s headed ’straight’ and as such, will not stop under any circumstance. Take him extremely seriously especially if he backs it up with a continuous blast from his “horn”.

21. At any given time, do not stand on the zebra crossing expecting traffic to yield to you, or else you will have to explain to the on coming traffic whether you look like a zebra.

22. Speed limits are arbitrary figures posted only to make you feel guilty.

23. Remember that the goal of every driver is to get there first by whatever means necessary.

24. In Lagos every spot is a potential bus stop. FRSC and LASTMA know that too. It is in their constitution.

25. Above all, keep moving. Even with a flat tyre!!!

HORNING IN LAGOS

Horn’ when someone executes a dangerous maneouvre.

‘Horn’ when you’re about to move off.

‘Horn’ when you’re about to overtake.

‘Horn’ when someone is about to overtake you.

‘Horn’ when turning into a road.

‘Horn’ when emerging from a road.

‘Horn’ back when someone horns at you. It’s considered good etiquette.

‘Horn’ when you hear a chorus of horns. Don’t worry if you don’t know what all the ‘horning’ is about.

‘Horn’ when you’re happy.

‘Horn’ to the beat when you’re playing music in your car.

Good luck, as you expeditiously navigate through Lagos and hustle and bustle!

It is really interesting that my little knowledge is more than yours. Yoiu need to read carefully before responding a begi.....!!

The reason wood ash whitens teeth is because it contains potassium hydroxide and in the process whitens the teeth. u choose...who cares if your children are darker or lighter than you. By the way some parents to do give birth to lighter or darker skinned children.

You are not in a position judge anyone of what they do or not do...

Back to the point people: Regardless of your view or opinion; guess what...bleaching goes on, life continues.....judgement is continually made.

BluIvy: You are really confusing the issues here. There is hygiene and there us beauty. Totally different from one another.
Toothpaste, deodorant, etc are a must for hygienic purposes.

People use mostly what is available. Where on earth would you find ash 2-3 times a day for years to use for cleaning your teeth?

Do you know how rare and expensive are all the oils you have just mentioned below. I for one anm still trying to source shea butter and coconut butter I buy at almost 4000Naija for a 500gram. So please do not get it twisted what you said is far fetched, way far.
You have made the confusion because you have failed to understand what I have written.

Where did you get the rule of "deodorant is a must" Would you use ash as toothpaste if it was readily available? Or chewing stick for that matter

I wrote previously that "Regardless of the purpose"....hygiene or no hygiene.

People enhance for whatever purpose or reason. It is still regarded as an enhancement.
Bleaching is a form of enhancement
How easy or difficult you can get your product is besides the point. This is about people changing something about themselves. On this occasion bleaching

What is go for the goose is good for the gander. You like natural oils, for your reason. Some like bleaching for their reason. Who can judge who.

People have different perceptions. Why do Caucasians tan...though it can cause skin cancer just like those bleaching.

It's all about you. You have to do whatever you see fit. You don't like it...so cry

PURE HYPOCRISY. WE ALL LOVE BEAUTY. IT'S HOW YOU DEFINE IT.

LIVE AND LET LIVE

Everyone is guilty of one level of enhancement. None of them are permanent or natural.

We all make an effort to look beautiful or smell beautiful and in doing so, you use something other than " natural" products.

Most Nairalanders for and against bleaching have used something from the list below at a stage in their lives to look or smell beautiful. Regardless of their obvious purpose.

Perfume, Colognes, Aftershave, Hairstyle, Makeup, Toothpaste, Style of clothes, Nail varnish, false hair, Bleaching product, Steroids.....and so on

Though this list of things are great. How many can use raw shea butter daily, Burnt ash as toothpaste/chewing stick, Coconut oil, black soap, river water, leaves as clothes.

Case closed next topic cool

fijiano202: I believe this is more attributed to religion than reality cos in nigeria and the world itself culture and religion works hand in glove..Biblically the right hand is regarded as a sign of strength and honor and also sitting at the right hand side of someone means u are highly honoured..like the christains believes that Jesus sits at the right hand of God which makes him next to God,Although the bible never mentioned left handed people as lesser people but people still believe the right hand is more honored..left handed people are not much in the bible, the most popular left-handed person in the bible is Ehud Judges chapter 3 and also Judges 20:16...the bible refers to left hand as an advantage cos people with left hand are mostly warriors....the left means plenty things in diff language - in latin left means sinister which means evil ,in french left is gauche which means awkward...in Local /traditional belief Right hand is called hand of peace

ubong560: Fun time! Let it start

Most partners in love have some interesting thing in common btwn themselves.

I had a friend whose girlfriend was a book freak, loved church, loved cooking, liked crying with any little thing etc. These were all the guy liked doing too. Also had a friend whose gf liked partying, smoking/drinking, watching football etc and the guy liked all these too.

I love reading/writing, watching football, eating ripe plantain, playing Ludo, badmouthing etc, surprisingly, these are things my girlfriend likes too.

I've seen couples whose thing in common ranges from reading, acting, singing, art-working (drawing) etc and these have helped to keep them in the union so perfectly. They even use this thing in common to settle thier misunderstandings when they have such. Share yours!

TravelUncharged Cellphones Banned On US Flights From Africa And Asia by KMB(op): 9:09am On Jul 07, 2014
Mobile phone banned on US flights from Africa and Asia

The US has declared that it will not allow mobile phones - especially iPhones and Samsung's Galaxy - onto US bound planes from some airports in Europe, the Middle East and Africa if the devices are not charged.

The new measure, which is bound to cause chaotic scenes at airports around the globe, is part of the US Transportation Security Administration's effort to boost surveillance amid concerns that terrorists are plotting to blow up an airliner.

As part of the increased scrutiny at certain airports, security agents may ask travelers to turn on their electronic devices at checkpoints and if they do not have power, the devices will not be allowed on planes, the TSA said.

No doubt the new measures have the potential to create frantic searches for chargers at airports and one US source familiar with the matter said laptop computers are also among the devices security screeners may also require passengers to turn on.

US officials are concerned that a cellphone, tablet, laptop or other electronic device could be used as a bomb by Yemen-based al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula and the Islamist Nusra Front, al Qaeda's affiliate in Syria.

In 2009 a Yemen-linked bomb-maker, Ibrahim al-Asiri, built an underwear bomb used in the failed effort to bring down a Detroit-bound airliner, and his devices were implicated in other plots.

The Islamist Nusra Front, Al Qaeda’s affiliate involved in fighting with Syrian rebels to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad, is also thought to be plotting an airliner attack, according to intelligence reports.

The TSA did not disclose which airports would be conducting the additional screening, however it was reported last week that passengers at British airports traveling to the US are facing extra checks on phones.

An official told the BBC that London's Heathrow was among the airports.

US officials singled out smartphones including iPhones made by Apple Inc and Galaxy phones made by Samsung Electronics Co Ltd for extra security checks on U.S.-bound direct flights from Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

US security officials said they fear bombmakers from the Yemen-based al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) have figured out how to turn the phones into explosive devices that can avoid detection.

They also are concerned that hard-to-detect bombs could be built into shoes, said the officials, who declined to be identified because of the sensitivity of the issue.

A US official said that other electronic devices carried by passengers also are likely to receive more intense scrutiny and travellers may be asked to power up laptops, iPads, tablets and Kindles.

A TSA statement said: ‘As the travelling public knows, all electronic devices are screened by security officers.

‘During the security examination, officers may also ask that owners power up some devices, including cell phones.

‘Powerless devices will not be permitted onboard the aircraft. The traveller may also undergo additional screening.’

Airlines or airport operators that fail to strengthen security could face bans on flights entering the United States, the officials said.

The US Homeland Security Department announced on Wednesday plans to step up security checks, but they offered few details on how airlines and airports will implement them.

US Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said at the time: ‘We will work to ensure these necessary steps pose as few disruptions to travellers as possible.’

An official familiar with the matter said the United States believes that while it is possible there may be some additional delays at security checkpoints, at most major airports passengers will not be seriously inconvenienced.

The official said most passengers taking long-distance flights arrive well in advance of scheduled departures, leaving time for extra screening.

But he said the United States could not rule out disruptions in countries where airport infrastructure and security procedures are less sophisticated.

In his weekly radio phone-in programme, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg warned last week that travellers may have to get used to the extra checks.

‘I don’t think we should expect this to be a one-off temporary thing,’ he said. ‘We have to make sure the checks are there to meet the nature of the new kinds of threats.’

‘Whether it is for ever – I can’t make any predictions. But I don’t want people to think that this is just a sort of a blip for a week. This is part of an evolving and constant review about whether the checks keep up with the nature of the threats.’

US-based airlines had little to say about the enhanced security. American Airlines spokesman Matt Miller said the Department of Homeland Security had been in contact with American on the issue, but declined to comment further.
