VonScott:Your previous comment was intended to have us believe that only foreign men were dangerous to African women, was it not? ![]() Your worry is for the Ethiopian woman but not for the 10s of millions of Nigerian women across Nigeria, whom the Law literally turns a blind eye to, even if eventually killed in marriage, a place where, up until more recently, abuse in marriage was the norm, and the reality for Nigerian women in marriage? ![]() |
VonScott:Are Nigerian men more normal? ![]() 2. You mean if she had instead married a black man or a Nigerian at that, that she would not have been subjected to some of the very same shaming and violence she encountered at the hands of the white man? ![]() 3. Was Osinachi married to a white man then? All the 10s of millions of women stuck in violent, debasing marriages in Nigeria don give testimony to their pastors finish? ![]() |
Mrexcell:Both are bad, that is why boys and girls are also handed condoms and educated on how to use them if and whenever they decide to have sex. ![]() |
thesicilian:Is this a sad attempt at redefining slavery or what? ![]() Slavery is the condition of being owned by another person, forced into labor, and stripped of freedom and choice, often through the use of violence, fraud, or coercion, treating people as property that can be bought and sold. Historically, it was a system of human chattel slavery, such as in the U.S. from 1776 to 1865, but modern slavery includes various forms of exploitation like forced labor, debt bondage, forced marriage, and human trafficking. While officially abolished, modern slavery persists globally for economic gain, involving the exploitation of vulnerable groups for profit. |
Fab21:Yes, even 10-year-olds can get pregnant and yes, children as young as 10 need to be given sex education so they know all they need to of how to avoid getting pregnant or contracting STDS. ![]() |
Angelanest:Assuming she was not raped, if her parents had put on her contraceptives before this, she would not be a mother at this point and certainly would not have been forced into marrying and becoming a wife-appliance, and elderly care companion to an old, mentally incompetent person. ![]() The same people who preach against sex education for our children are the very same who don't hesitate to perpetrate these evils against them in the name of maintaining face and tradition. ![]() |
trumpcoat:Does meeting his family mean he would not have assaulted her in the way he did? What about the 10s of millions of Nigerian women stuck to this day in abusive marriages despite meeting and knowing members of the husband's families? Kai! 🙄🙄 2. You expect his parents to reveal that information to her? How many of the former convicts or mentally incompetent men in Nigeria do their parents reveal the fact of their mental health to their potential wives before marriage? 🙄🙄 |
tunapawizzy:. Why do some of you sound like you graduated from Tambolo High, or something? 😣😣😣 Does meeting his family mean he would not have assaulted her in the way he did? What about the 10s of millions of Nigerian women stuck to this day in abusive marriages despite meeting and knowing members of the husband's families? Kai! ![]() 2. Sadly, not being in Nigeria anymore does not mean one ceases to be severely impacted by the brainwashing that was fed to them from childhood in Nigeria. She may not have called the police because deep down, she may have believed herself to be a Nigerian woman whose lot is to endure all things in marriage. There are 1000s of such women out there the abroad too. ![]() |
free2ryhme:Oyinbo no too believe in meeting family first before marriage. Two individuals could meet and marry without meeting each other's families here. And many such marriages go on to be good ones. ![]() |
Bearfruit:Judged by whom? Nonsense! ![]() |
novodecipher:FGM on a girl child? And this one is being allowed to procreate bayi! |
2mch:1. What you are having us believe is that the 10s of millions of Nigerian women in Nigeria, all stuck in abusive relationships with their youth and self-esteem probably gone as a result, are better than this woman who found the same treatment typical of Nigerians in Nigeria, and fortunately, her escape as well? Yaaaa! The way una dey roll this thing wey una dey smoke...ehn... 2. So, the 10s of millions of women stuck in abusive marriages in Nigeria, along with their abusive husbands, are not mental problems advertising in broad day like in Nigeria? Na abroad alone mental illness dey, ehn? Tufiakwa! |
Truthsave:If you pay close attention — look beyond her haggard appearance— you may find that such a woman is stuck in marriage not because she does not see other women around her regaining their freedom and life after marriage, but because she likely sees divorce as the worst thing she could do to herself and her kids— assuming she has them. See also the brainwash that keeps women like that in these humiliating circumstances is the same set of delusions that keep 10s of millions of Nigerians in Nigeria stuck in marriages that have essentially cost them their youth and sense of self. ![]() |
erico2k2:Back in the early to mid 90s, I met a pregnant 10-year-old girl when I went to spend vacation with an uncle of mine. Her mother was a full-time nurse and single mother who rarely had time to spend with her children since their dad was dead. Imagine the mother considering getting her child an abortion at that age? And in Nigeria at that? ![]() Each child needs to be started as early as is necessary and healthy, and that is what parents are there for. ![]() |
Double0h7:Abi o! I know many women who would opt for such an arrangement if it were the case. Rich men dey literally pay their wives salaries to stick to routines and schedules. But see as poor men, wey no fit pay to have their laundry washed outside, dey try pretend say dem fit live rich life on poverty budget. ![]() |
saintmm:The implant is specifically meant for preventing unwanted pregnancies. STDs require additional protection, and that is why both boys and guys are handed condoms to use whenever they decide to have sex. ![]() |
smallsmall:You claim you read my comments but then you come back with something that makes absolutel no sense given what the other stated and what I said. Why? 😏😏 Below is the statement that began the discussion yes but you must bring reasonable financial provision to dependants meaning that the money must be seen to have been used in providing for your needs shortly before he diedHow does this connect to your conclusion regarding the reason behind the debate? ![]() Here, again, is what the Law stipulates in this case, and no entry requires her to first prove she is a dependent since she is considered one by Law if she is a wife/husband or child of the deceased. ![]()
|
Love800:This conclusion of yours is a product of tiny-brained twiddling. 🥱🥱 Come on naw! Are you seriously wanting us to believe you have never heard of African women in interracial marriages who called the cops on their ex and even filed for divorce not long after? ![]() |
omooba969:Human relationships are not unique to anyone. ![]() |
Love800:Stop lying! Right there in the same UK, there are still 1000s of Nigerian women stuck in abusive homes who are regularly placated either by family or pastors to remain calm and keep the peace. ![]() Go to your Nigerian churches and the many mosques abroad, na dem full that place. Nigerian churches, particularly the Redeemed, Deeper Life, etc, are filled to the brim with women who believe that remaining in abusive marriages sets them apart and on the right path as opposed to enlightened women in those same countries. Na only a handful dey eventual make am out of that cognitive dissonance that is the many religious doctrines their heads are constantly pumped with. ![]() |
Love800:Really? The millions of wife-beaters in Nigeria who walk around proudly beating their chests in Nigeria despite the fact that the criminal code in Nigeria clearly states that physical assault of any human being is a crime... wetin don do dem? ![]() |
Chilipepper:At least she posted his picture, so other women can know him to avoid him like the plague. ![]() Why did she wait for him to file for a divorce against her? If two months in, he had already started assaulting her, she should have filed for divorce and gotten him arrested and charged? Poor kid! ![]() Mothers should stop raising their daughters to become wives, abeg! Start raising your sons and daughters the exact same way, so women do not go around allowing themselves to be used as slaves & punching bags later on in life. ![]() |
Tonygeesm:Men and women alike grow old. So what has that go do with this thread or topic? 🥱🥱🥱 |
marlow1962:She was most likely dong exactly the same things the unmarried man was doing. ![]() I really don't follow your logic at all. 🥱 |
latiephwald:Stop telling lies for Pete's sake! 🥱🥱🥱🥱 Gosh, you people are so chuck full of misinformation that one does not even know a lot of times what the intention really is. To win arguments for the sake of it or to deceive for the sake of maintaining status quo? 😩😩😩😩 |
latiephwald:You folks tell really bad lies no thanks to your numerous traditions and religion. ![]() Agbero culture goes as far back as the 1960s in Nigeria and many of those who turned age eros even then were some of the most over disciplined --- flogged mercilessly --- students in schools and homes. 🥱🥱🥱 |
Nnamdipapa:Not at all. I should have about a third of that left after expenses & bills. ![]() |
Pootle:It has been that way since at least my childhood. Parents who are finally doing something to ensure their kids do not make the same mistakes that many made during my time deserve applause. ![]() |
Nnamdipapa: |
TOPCRUISE:Ojoro ke? Na only men suppose get high body count abi wetin? ![]() |
Nnamdipapa:Interesting!🥱🥱🥱 My salary is about Naira 30,000 each month, provided I receive my pay at the end of the month. But because you discovered eggs cost Naira 6000, I should be happy that I live in Nigeria and not in the USA, where my base salary would have been something of about $2000 a month? ![]() |
