At Tuesday’s meeting, President May likely intervene in the simmering dispute between the two companies.

Justnation:
The times have become so hard and terrifying for low income earners in Nigeria who are made to suffer heavily under the insensitive 300% increase in electricity tariffs.
With increase in petrol prices, gas prices etc the common man is now left with no hope of survival in this our country.
The government must do something to reduce the cost of electricity so that the common man can breathe and survive.
We all must join to speak up and remedy the situation.

Anti-corruption voices spoke in unison at a one-day workshop in Abuja organized by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) in collaboration with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and with the generous support of the MacArthur Foundation, aimed at enhancing the role of journalists in combating corruption.
The event, themed " Power of the Pen in the Fight Against Corruption" brought together journalists, ICPC officials, Civil Society Organizations, and Academics to explore the media's influence in promoting transparency, accountability and good governance in Nigeria also navigated collaborative strategies between the media and ICPC at strengthening the war against corruption which has continue to pilfer away the country's commonwealth.
Speaking at the event, the ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu urged journalists to ramp up their efforts in exposing corrupt practices and promoting good governance, pointing out that the media has a unique ability to influence public opinion and mobilize citizens towards collective action against corruption.
“The media is a key ally in our fight against corruption. Without the work of investigative journalists and robust reporting, much of the corruption we see today would remain hidden from the public eye. Journalists' Pen is truly a vital weapon against corruption and I urge all journalists to use them judiciously.”

■ What does the World Bank want? The question is pertinent in light of its deadly stance on Nigeria’s precarious fate. The country borrowed over $24 billion from the global lender in five years. In 16 months, the Bola Tinubu administration borrowed $6.45 billion. Within this short period, Nigeria sank deeper into crisis thanks to Tinubu’s Ill-advised removal of petroleum subsidies and floating the naira. Food prices and transportation costs immediately shot up. As sustenance became increasingly hard to come by, Nigerians grasped at any semblance of a lifeline. They stampeded for a loaf of bread, a small rice bag or yam tuber. Some died chasing the lifeline.
In a year, the country witnessed two major protests against hunger and bad governance. Inflation has reduced the naira to a near-worthless piece of paper. In a country notorious for its epileptic grid electricity, most Nigerians cannot afford to buy a litre of petrol at over N1000 for their power generators. Businesses are folding up. Unfortunately, the World Bank applauds the Tinubu government’s choking reforms. And sadly, the International Monetary Fund joins in the praise.
Emboldened by this endorsement, Tinubu once thumped his chest saying he deserved to be listed for an award in the Guinness World of Records. It was an insult to the injury his policies inflicted on his people. As if it is oblivious of the Nigerian people’s plight, the World Bank says the Tinubu administration should sustain the deadly policies, or stay the course, as it puts it. In 10 to 15 years, the World Bank says, Nigeria will become a big player not just on the continent but on the global stage. This is a pipedream and a dangerous stance on a struggling country and its suffering people.

“This is a significant legal challenge for Nigeria’s federal structure. The Constitution empowers states as key stakeholders in lawmaking, especially regarding governance. However, the Federal Government’s unilateral creation of agencies like the EFCC undermines federalism and state autonomy.
“The states involved aren’t seeking to dismantle these agencies but advocate for a balanced system respecting all levels of government. International conventions complicate national sovereignty, and Nigeria must uphold treaties while honouring constitutional obligations.
