Politics › Re: Tinubu, Dangote, Others Hold Talks On Naira-For-Crude Policy by Kobojunkie: 3:16pm On Oct 29, 2024 |
dododawa1: ■ By trading in naira, the government aims to improve the availability of petroleum products and decrease import-related costs. The Dangote Refinery, which requires significant crude supplies annually, is expected to reciprocate by providing petrol and diesel in naira, simplifying currency transactions and lessening the economic strain of fuel imports. The FG said the approach will reduce FOREX demands by up to 40 per cent as key institutions, including the Central Bank of Nigeria and AfreximBank, support the transition. However, in September, the NNPCL and the Dangote Refinery were embroiled in pricing disputes. The NNPCL claimed it bought petrol from Dangote at a high price of N898 per litre, a rate that Dangote’s representatives called “misleading,” stating that official pricing terms were yet to be finalised. At Tuesday’s meeting, President May likely intervene in the simmering dispute between the two companies. This administration continues to operate in all-round audio mode with near no implementation to be seen anywhere. |

The government must do something to reduce the cost of electricity so that the common man can breathe and survive. We all must join to speak up and remedy the situation. Nigeria, as it is, is already starving of want for good skilled teachers yet here you are trying to encourage one of the possibly good quality teachers available to go do something else. I remember when my mum was a teacher, she used to have me help her grade some of the work she brought home. You can maybe get your mum to help you with some of it, to lessen the load, and maybe also help her sharpen her own math skills while she is at it. Every Single should look forward to getting married because this is God's will for all... What is your use as a woman if you are not a wife to a man in your life-time? What is your use as a man if you are not a husband to a woman in your life time?... This statement is from the same person who claimed earlier to know Jesus Christ oo! Imagine him now making yet another antiChrist still. Anyone who knows the story of Jesus Christ of Israel knows very well the following of him ● Jesus Christ was never married ● He said His Father created some men from birth as Eunuchs, made some men Eunuchs in this life, and proclaimed that the blessing of God was upon others who would live as Eunuchs for the sake of the Kingdom of God ● Jesus Christ, before He left the earth, proclaimed that the blessings of God were with women who were barren or not married at all; women with children were told by him to cry for themselves and their children— they were on their own. How can the same God who made the above, be said to have made marriage his will? Christianity is nothing but antiChrist— a belief system that is ultimately against Jesus Christ Himself as revealed even in this example by the OP. |

okeychris: By Ada Nwanagum Anti-corruption voices spoke in unison at a one-day workshop in Abuja organized by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) in collaboration with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and with the generous support of the MacArthur Foundation, aimed at enhancing the role of journalists in combating corruption. The event, themed " Power of the Pen in the Fight Against Corruption" brought together journalists, ICPC officials, Civil Society Organizations, and Academics to explore the media's influence in promoting transparency, accountability and good governance in Nigeria also navigated collaborative strategies between the media and ICPC at strengthening the war against corruption which has continue to pilfer away the country's commonwealth. Speaking at the event, the ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu urged journalists to ramp up their efforts in exposing corrupt practices and promoting good governance, pointing out that the media has a unique ability to influence public opinion and mobilize citizens towards collective action against corruption. “The media is a key ally in our fight against corruption. Without the work of investigative journalists and robust reporting, much of the corruption we see today would remain hidden from the public eye. Journalists' Pen is truly a vital weapon against corruption and I urge all journalists to use them judiciously.” Many journalists in Nigeria are paid stooges of politicians who use them every chance they get to keep the Nigerian people deceived and controlled like the generations before this were. |

MrAmbrose: How do we move forward with all these loans? The loans are not the primary problem but corruption is. For example, annual non-oil tax revenue reported by the FIRS is above $22 billion each year. Where does all of at least $22 Billion disappear to? If your government was using that over $22 billion in tax revenue wisely — even half of it — what would be the need for your government to have to seek out a loan of about 750 million dollars, — a tiny fraction of the amount it currently generates by way of tax revenue each year, from the World Bank?

Politics › Re: World Bank’s Deadly Agenda - Punch Editorial by Kobojunkie: 1:25am On Oct 29, 2024*. Modified: 6:28am On Oct 29, 2024 |
Bobloco: ■ What does the World Bank want? The question is pertinent in light of its deadly stance on Nigeria’s precarious fate. The country borrowed over $24 billion from the global lender in five years. In 16 months, the Bola Tinubu administration borrowed $6.45 billion. Within this short period, Nigeria sank deeper into crisis thanks to Tinubu’s Ill-advised removal of petroleum subsidies and floating the naira. Food prices and transportation costs immediately shot up. As sustenance became increasingly hard to come by, Nigerians grasped at any semblance of a lifeline. They stampeded for a loaf of bread, a small rice bag or yam tuber. Some died chasing the lifeline. In a year, the country witnessed two major protests against hunger and bad governance. Inflation has reduced the naira to a near-worthless piece of paper. In a country notorious for its epileptic grid electricity, most Nigerians cannot afford to buy a litre of petrol at over N1000 for their power generators. Businesses are folding up. Unfortunately, the World Bank applauds the Tinubu government’s choking reforms. And sadly, the International Monetary Fund joins in the praise. Emboldened by this endorsement, Tinubu once thumped his chest saying he deserved to be listed for an award in the Guinness World of Records. It was an insult to the injury his policies inflicted on his people. As if it is oblivious of the Nigerian people’s plight, the World Bank says the Tinubu administration should sustain the deadly policies, or stay the course, as it puts it. In 10 to 15 years, the World Bank says, Nigeria will become a big player not just on the continent but on the global stage. This is a pipedream and a dangerous stance on a struggling country and its suffering people. When will you people fashion your brains away from this depth of foolishness? Is the World Bank equally to blame for the 8 years of shege you experienced under Buhari? Why was the same level of suffering not experienced during the Obasanjo years? Why do you continue to distract yourselves from the main problem which is systemic corruption that now exists as if a massive blackhole sucking everything and anything? For the sake of your children at least, stop taking bribes write up these paid propaganda reports which are bent on shifting the blame from the kakistocrats who continue to siphon away your collective inheritance into their private pocket. Stop writing these trash pieces aimed at shifting blame onto foreign organizations whose only crime — if we could call it that —was to grant you the very loans you requested... loans which if you had fixed your country would have gone to better your lives instead. 🤔 |

Oluboh: ■ He further said the lawsuit would have far-reaching implications for Nigeria’s federal system, anti-corruption efforts, and democratic governance, while advising the Federal Government to look critically at the reason the EFCC appeared to be consistently embroiled in controversy. ”We, the Judiciary Watchdogs, a group of lawyers from the 36 states of the federation wholeheartedly applaud the bold and visionary leadership of the 16 state governors who have taken a historic step to challenge the constitutionality of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and others at the Supreme Court,” the statement said. “A group of people who claim to be lawyers under the aegis of the Anti-Corruption Lawyers Network condemned this move, suggesting it was a desperate attempt to undermine the fight against corruption. However, we believe that the state’s action is a legitimate pursuit of constitutional clarity and accountability. As it is in Nigeria today, there is no genuine fight against corruption. “This is a significant legal challenge for Nigeria’s federal structure. The Constitution empowers states as key stakeholders in lawmaking, especially regarding governance. However, the Federal Government’s unilateral creation of agencies like the EFCC undermines federalism and state autonomy. “The states involved aren’t seeking to dismantle these agencies but advocate for a balanced system respecting all levels of government. International conventions complicate national sovereignty, and Nigeria must uphold treaties while honouring constitutional obligations. “Moreover, the effectiveness of the anti-graft agencies, particularly the EFCC, in addressing corruption has been called to question. Numerous allegations of mismanagement, selective enforcement, and abuse of power have plagued these institutions. More like Judiciary fraudsters and scammers who have all been paid off by the 19 governors, all of them nothing but thieves. |

bixton: ■ I don't know where you're getting your data from as regards Nigeria generates $22B from taxes... ■ Now we know we can't actually ask the Nigerian government how they manage this taxes ■ but I think this are the kind of questions those borrowing us should ask what have we done with those we have received to be able to access more? ■ Now you may be right that it's a new formula.... ■ Also note that there it's this same government that says the removal of petroleum subsidy has saved us a lot of trillions but the question still remains where exactly are the saved funds!!! I guess your thoughts are as good as the rest of us. 1. It only takes a simple Google search to find reports explaining to you how your government makes over $22 billion in taxes each year. 2. Wrong! You can ask your government for how it manages its tax revenue... there is an entire government agency responsible for this and FOI allows you to query that agency. Others have already attempted the same before now. https://thecjid.org/cbn-firs-sgf-shuns-foi-request-over-estimated-n20trn-stamp-duty-revenue/3. Wrong! They shouldn't be the ones to determine how Nigerian people desire for their government to be run on their behalf. It should be solely the duty of Nigerian citizens to decide for themselves whether corruption in their government should continue to be the status quo or not. Nigeria is after all a sovereign nation. 4. More accurately, it is a replay of the old formula that was used by IBB against Nigerians during the period that was 1986-1993. Yes, while funneled billions of dollars worth of loot into his pockets and that is his cohorts, he deceived Nigerians into blaming the IMF-SAP and World Bank for the hardship that came along with his looting them blindly. 5. My thoughts cannot be said to be as good as yours since yours is taken from a point of ignorance and possible bias. The subsidy has been removed yet to this day there is no evidence that the subsidy has been removed by this same government. So, what reason do you have to believe any thing this same government tells you without verification at least? |

berepiki: ■ Obviously you need answers... Should your daughter have sex before her wedding night? Don't rush to answer this question... Remember: Every man becomes SANE about sex when it has to do with his daughter or blood sister and a man ■ ...What dignity does sex before marriage bring... You did it doesn't make it right... Remember, there are young people reading these comments... Let posterity judge us all. ■ Can you boldly say before your daughter that premarital sex is not bad? ■ The final outcome of a marriage is determined by a combination of so many other factors... ■ PLEASE NOTE: Premarital is IMMORAL to GOD ■ and totally disrespectful to the parents of the bride... ■ EVERY MARRIAGE should be built on a PURE Foundation as a sign of HONOR to God, DIGNITY of our spouse and REGARD for parents. Even though it doesn't guarantee a lasting marriage. 1. Let me get this straight! This is all about controlling access to your daughter's pussy than anything else? 🤔 2. But where is the dignity —or what is the value to this dignity — you attribute to no sex before marriage? What does one tangibly gain from that practice? There is sexual knowledge and pleasure to be gained before marriage by engaging in sexual intercourse before marriage. Humans are sensual beings and sexual knowledge and pleasure are ultimately what most gain from sexual intercourse whether in or outside of marriage. So, what is there to gain from foregoing that value until after marriage? 3. I have no drive or desire to control my daughter's pussy like you would think. I would rather equip such a child with the knowledge and wisdom necessary to decide at the right time for herself— without regret. 4. That statement makes no sense at all since there is no such thing as an outcome of a marriage. Marriage is a relationship between humans and human relationships can end in so many different ways including in the grave for some. 5. Premarital sex is immoral to which God? Where did this God say this to you? 6. You instead mean it is totally disrespectful to parents who view their kids pussies as theirs to monitor, right? By the way, not all parents feel it is their place to control their children's ability to have sex as you do. So, why make such sweeping statements regarding parents? Are you somehow trying to place yourself near to this God where your children are or something? 7. Sign to which God? The same Deities that allow even the marriages set up on your PURE-Foundation to scatter terribly at the end of the day? I mean what is the purpose of this PURE-Foundation nonsense you keep spewing which clearly serves no value to those who engage in it at the end of the day? It seems this God of yours is only concerned with his ego since the sacrifice you have people making by way of your PURE-Foundation theory amounts to nothing in the end for most— yes, divorce/separation/abandonment rates are higher than 50% even among your godly kind. |
