What we have above is close to what we have presently in terms of age. As over 70% of the current crop are 23 or less. And they are also established super Eagles players. Yet none would have made that 96 team starting line up. Maybe 1 or 2 would make the squad at most.

Good you made reference to Siasia's 2008 Olympics team. Trace that team back to his 2005 U20 team which was the bedrock of the 2008 Olympics team. That 2005 U20 also had class and quality. I remember repeatedly mentioning that the Siasia's 2005 Flying Eagles were better than the Manu's 2015 Flying Eagles. I got attacked for it but I still maintain my view on that.

We have to accept the fact. we hype our current team too much.
I get your point but it w be unfair to compare the present players with Atlanta 96 team.

In Atlanta 96 team we have Uche Okechuckwu, Daniel Amokachie, Emmanuel Amuneke, Austin Okocha,Sunday Olishe,Victor Ikpeba who are members of US 94 team with only Ikpeba not regular and Tijani Babangida was on standby.

These are already established Super Eagles material playing in under aged tournament and too early to compare the team.

On over hype,it depends on individual, have never for once hype this team but not yet time to compare, let's see what happens in the WC,with quarter final berth then w compared.

But Rohr is better tactically than Sia1 right? Relax let's get this international break over with then I will come back with full force
Haba Micho u and Rohr on tactics, well apart from being sentimental sometimes on players selection,Siasia is good tactically(2005 semi final against Holland)tells me the guy is good, also 2008 Olympics.

Truly Argentina match w be a true test for Rohr tactically even Algeria match but nevertheless is still getting it right but South Africa match still put a question match on his tactical prowess cos with the absence of few key players the team crumbled.

The individual abilities of those players were top notch. That was even an Olympics team and not the main super eagles.

I have always said it that I have seen better youth players than what we have today.

We just hype most of our young players of today. most of them are not up to the marks.

None of the current Nigerian players who are 23 or less would have made that team's starting line up.
Pls check Atlanta 96 players out.

Super Eagles players in the team

1.Uche Okechuckwu.

2.Daniel Amokachie.

3.Emmanuel Amuneke.

4.Victor Ikpeba

5.Sunday Olishe,

6.Austin Okocha

7.Tijani Babangida.

8.Taribo West.

9.Kanu Nwankwo

The fringe Super Eagles players in the team

10.Wilson Oruma

11.Celestine Babayaro

12.Mobi Oparaku

13.Garba Lawal

15.Karibe Ojigwe

Well established local players in the team

16.Dosu Joseph

17.Abiodun Obafemi

18.Teslim Fatusi

19.Emmanuel Babayaro

20.Abiodun Baruwa

21.Kingsley Obiekwu

So how do you expect present players who are 23 or less to make this team full of already established Super Eagles players, honestly if it's today a lot w called this team a cheat, surprisedly Uche Okechuckwu, Daniel Amokachie, Emmanuel Amuneke are the only over aged in the team.

Honestly anytime i look at this team am always give respect to Siasia's feat at 2008 and 2016 Olympics, with bunch of average players compared to Atlanta 96 which was full of Super Eagles players.

Why can't you all apply the same vehemence on all other super corrupt modafokas who has ruined this amalgamation, is Deziani the biggest fish in the sea of the corrupt? Is she the one that instituted a system which allows and encourages embezzlement and diversion of looted funds away, why focus on her alone ? Is she the one that implemented a weak structure that breeds and permits money laundering and missapropriation of federal money ? Why must she be crucified for the financial sins of all other corrupts psychos many who are greedily in government, regardless of which greedy political party is in power, all they know is to steal and loot while the country rots. You fools should ask your self when are the authorities in those middle-eastern nations where Islam is strong going to arrest, expose and prosecute corrupt Nigerian officials who hail from the Islamic north for laundering their looted money into their countries, no we will never hear of them, because 1slarm is the bond that keeps them one afterall it is kafferi's money stolen by Jihadists in position of power in a former British colony where the resources of the millions of infidels down south must be used to nurture the emirate system of the north in accordance to the laid-down Danfodian agenda while in turn utilized to sponsor their cause throughout the world where all enemies of 1zlam must be fought.

The coach decides which positions he still needs options, invitation of Nwakali indicates that he is still looking for CM/DM options.

A few weeks back, i compiled a WC list of players guaranteed of a WC place. Central Midfield had the most openings. The coach knows this too.
Truly Rohr decides but do we really need Nwakili in DM with options we have now,as CM i can't really say cos i w never used Norway league to rate him,the league is to develop players for big league in Europe.

Honestly with due respect to Rohr we need to evaluate and looks at his list critically. In icon4s word we need players that we add something unique to the team.

Am still skeptical about Nwakili invitation, unless he was discovered by Rohr himself, just hoping he prove me wrong and Jobie just raised a very vital observation regarding our players performance in Europe,we need quality players in the team, unless

Till today we have not seen what Ogu,Agbo,Nwakaeme can offer the team despite making the squad, still suspicious of Agu,also Awaziem yet to show us is true colour in the team,Musa still making the team despite having difficult time with his club,

Hope Algeria and Argentina match we have a positive impact towards our WC preparation, the team needs to take shape,WC is not far.

Why do we invite 3 goalkeepers when it's possible that just 1 is quite enough for the whole tourney??
pls not comparable,it's compulsory to invite 3 GK to camp and for the DM,let see you what position Rohr has for Nwakili in the team,if it's DM i w be disappointed coz we have Ndidj,Agu,possibly Onazi and Esiti is doing well.

I don't want to talk much on his invitation coz is position in the team is not yet cleared to me,if it's DM meaning Rohr is not satisfied with Agu coz you can't have Ndidi,Onazi and Agu and still trying to add another DM.

Not just 90% but 95% sef. Apart from Musa and the Nwakali, the list is OK.
It seems you are not comfortable with Nwakili invitation,I understand your position on his invitation.

I want you to know something about players invitations to Nigeria national team,i believe Icon4s, enomakos,goldfish80 w understand it better.

A lot of things comes in and we behind the scene w never understand than to keep on wondering on what criteria

My man did you know some invitations are not based on merits, these invitations normally come from agents who want to see their players in the national team to boost their market, some invitations come from NFF telling coach look you just have to invite this player, serious pressure, telling the coach the federal characters is their reason.

Did u know most of these foreign coaches have agents that brokered the deal for them to be appointed and these agents have players they are managing,it is a must for such coach to accept his agent players but there are unwritten rules if he make it in the camp fine, did you see Aaron Samuel getting invitation again coz he didn't meet up.

The home bred national team coaches w make recommendations of their choice players either good or bad,the foreign coach w accept coz he is new in the system.

I remember when my university coach was appointed as super eagles assistant and they requested for his inputs on players invitation,he made sure 5 of the university players got called up letter though they are playing in the local league, out of these five, two made it and one later established himself in the eagles to the extent of playing in EPL.

Remember after South Africa match that we lost two goals to nil, there are allegations that some players are getting invitation through agents which Rohr denied, this led to technical committee to mandate that they must see the list first before Rohr made it public.

On Nwakili i can tell anybody that he can get the invitation in many ways, one through agent,it's simple coach I have player who can do it better than Agu or Ogu,OK let me see him,his invitation can come through NFF technical committee and also through Rohr scouts, nobody can say but to base his invitation on merits is dicey.

I just see Nwakili in the mould of Shehu and Ekong, if you check these two players properly, national team shape up their careers coz on club level they don't deserve to be in the team but they are able to prove themselves and they are part of the team XI.

Let see what Nwakili has to offer before we judge him coz personally am not yet convince that he merits the invitation but such player always seize the opportunity and established himself to prove doubting minds wrong.

Exactly. I think people have made a habit of having a go at Forgiveness for no sane reason. Will you agree with me that if it was Forgiveness that said we will lose to Algeria they would attack him for that? I think this effect is from the older members of the thread, I really admire arguments between tbaba and the same forgiveness, between Komekn and anybody who wants to counter his points, theGoodjoe can go low sometimes but 95% of the time he maintains his cool and this is also why I appreciate guys like you and Soentaoroluwa(hope the spelling is right this time grin). Please who are the older members?coz we need to call a spade a spade, this is a forum and i don't see reason for insult or we personalize things just to score a point and the worst part of it tagging someone being TRIBAL coz he is expressing his views.

We cannot reason the same way and we need to accept that facts, this is a football thread were a lot of arguments w come in with different opinions,so why attacking to drive our points.

I want us to know that Rohr is not god coz some don't want any criticism against Rohr and for us to move forward we need to evaluate his team, invitations, selection, tactics etc

Forgiveness comment on Nwakili invitation is normal in football circles but calling Rohr fraud is out of it.

Nwakili invitation came from nowhere and a lot were surprised even on this thread but funny enough some are saying he justified the invitation which I personally disagreed.

If we want to based it on DM i can tell u something is fishing coz Anderson Esiti is there and have a better performance than Nwakili but as u said Rohr love versatility players, may be that give Nwakili advantage.

My grouse with Forgiveness is calling Rohr corrupt due to Nwakili invitation, honestly Rohr must have his reason to do so and we must respect his decision but we have every right to criticise him.

Merit has been offered on the alter of corruption.

if they are deploying him as a wingback then it's their loss, he is quite good going forward and defensively as well, I think he plays as a DMF as well so it is easy to understand why they want him in that wingback role. Well, I am not even thinking about his team and quality of league because sincerely while there's a presumption that if you have your national team players playing for clubs in the top leagues it does good for the national team, I still reckon that national team football is different and so therefore even players from 'low leagues' can play well for their countries. I think patriotism and pride is the something that distinguishes club football from club football.

My only concern is that I have not heard much about him. More on his younger brother sef than him. But if the consensus here is that he merits it then I will shove my doubts away.
We just need to give kudos to Rohr for the invitation if truly the invitation came through his scouts coz nobody expect it

Good for the them,i w like to see Uzoho in goal just to see may be he is equal to the task.

This is the time to see what Uche Agbo can offer instead of getting invitation without kicking ball.

John Ogu too need to prove to us that he deserved d invitations extended to him

Also Ebuhei need to show us his quality, the same thing Ola Aina in the absence of Echiejele.

Nwakaeme should start to determined his readiness for the big tasks..

This match may make or mar some guys chances in d team especially Agbo,Ogu,Nwakaeme,Ebuhei time to prove that they are not pushover.

Uzoho, Oyekwuru, Nwakili just need to show class that they can do it or else they are out, they should grabbed the opportunity.

Honestly i want CB pairing of Ekong and Agbo against Algeria and CB pairing of Balogun and Awaziem against Argentina.

If Uzoho can prove a class against Algeria meaning Akpeyi,Ezenwa w find it difficult to bench him against Argentina just like the way Akpeyi is finding it tough to reclaim his shirt back.

Uzoho performance may put an end to agitation for Enyeama, though too early to say that coz he need to prove it in camp that he is better than Ezenwa and Akpeyi first.

I was talking about his exploit in the Austrian league got him the highest goalscorer and best player award in Austria, and it's this same exploit that got him noticed by Guardiola to personally called him and bought him for Manchester City. These are his exploit before the friendlies but Tohr refused to call him until he was pressured to do so and when he did eventually invited him, Rohr refused to start him in one of those friendlies.

Is Rohr better than Guardiola?

The thing wey this guys dey talk dey somehow I swear
Do not vex.We view football differently and sometimes u must accept that or else u w continue having headache on nothing.

I remember i made an analysis here that how many goals do we want from our striker at WC coz sometimes highest goal scorer at WC normally score 5 ,6 , 7 goals meaning we should be expecting like 3 ,4 goals from our striker if we reaches 2nd round or quarter final.

Thank God Jobie posted Nigeria all time goal scorers at WC and i realized highest scorers(2 goals)like Daniel Amokachie,Emma Amuneke, Uche Kalu,Ahmed Musa were not our top striker.

Then why are we calling for d head of this present team strikers to d extent we are calling for d spent force to come and rescue us when we are not having any problems so far with d team performance index.

I think any of our discussion should be based on fact not just mere saying sake that d team lack potent striker. Our WC qualifications was based on d fact that d team was very potent and I don't think at this era we should be relying on one striker to do it for us.We nearly paid for it at US 94.

The team so far has scored 11 goals in 5 WC qualifying matches which showed 2 goals per match,so what do we expect,3 goals from Victor Moses,2 from Kelechi Iheanacho,Alex Iwobi,Mikel Obi,a goal from Odion Ighalo, and Simeon Moses.

Now let's take our two strikers performance into our analysis, Ighalo and Nacho into consideration. Some who don't really understand d game or are always economical with truth we try and condemn these two lads.

Ighalo had 3 games out of 5 and a goal,in his first match against Cameroon he had a wonderful game and scored a powerful goal,in d second leg he had a better game though he did not score but work for the team tirelessly, through him Simeon was able to score a goal, against Zambia he had average performance due to two chances he missed but still work for d team, with this performance i w still give him the nod to lead d attack.

Iheanacho has been wonderful in eagles colours and his goal ratio is a top notch. In WC campaign so far i w say he has been a good player scoring two goals, one against Zambia in the first leg and one of his best match for eagles, against Algeria he had very average performance.

In Cameroon match he came from d bench and scored a goal which showed he is a reliable striker. In the 2nd leg he couldn't do much, also against Zambia he was on d bench but his total contribution to d team so far was awesome,2 goals in 4 matches mostly from d bench.

Pls my good friend with this simple analysis what do we expect from these players that warrant unnecessary remarks, are the old legs we were clamouring for better, honestly they are not even better than Kayode, Nwakaeme, Onwuachi.

Mind u we have Awoniyi, Osimhen and co knocking d door and some still want to draw us back coz they don't have respect for the team or they are just being sentimental.

The old ones are welcome cos they are Nigerians and national team belongs to all players if Rohr want them,no issue but from my own perspectives they have nothing to add to the team.

Buffon just won best keeper in d world still with Juventus.

Defoe still in d premiership,i remember he went to MLS one time and returned back to premiership.

Danny Alves moved from Barca to juve now at PSG.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic from PSG to Man utd,pls check d pedigree.

Martins is a Nigerian player who is still active and if Rohr decided that he want Martins,no issue,he is welcome,it's left for him to prove himself.I remember Keshi gave him a recalled but couldn't meet up.

It's okay to make recommendations biased or not. The job of the coach is to look at the recommendations if he wants and ascertain if they are good ones or bad ones. Aaron Samuel would never have got near the SE camp if not that he was pulled off from the standby list to replace a player. Olanare was probably pushed for because he was physical (for Cameroon tie), yet Rohr never named him (bad recent stats) in the main list -- not yielding. It was said Olanare did not impress, and since then he never got a recall -- fair decision. Let's not cry foul over nothing. It's a big lie that Rohr was considering recalling Ejide. We had a goalkeeper crises, granted, but why fabricate crazy news from that situation? From my checks, Ejide last played professionally in the Israeli top-tier in May 2015. Come on now, what coach will consider a 33 year old netminder for serious business, a player who has hardly been between the sticks for 2 years running. Tell that story to the kids.
Yea very okay to make recommendations but not bad recommendation.

I can tell u anyone that recommend Aaron to Rohr did not wish Nigeria well, pls check d guy stats this season, pls forget physical, what is bad is bad and funny enough d guy did not measure up in camp.

If u check Aaron stats then u w agree Ejide too can make it,we can doubt d source but is possible.

If this report is true then someone should please tell me how can a free agent and one who is without a club for two years like Ejide gets a call-up before Dele Aiyenugba who won the league for his club just two or three seasons ago and is still very much active, huh?

I believe those Nigerians with Rohr are the ones given him names of Nigerians playing abroad because I presume he knows nothing about Nigerians abroad.
Don't u know some guys came into d team through agents when Rohr was new and it's still happening coz Aaron Samuel invitation still a puzzle for me.

If Aaron can make it why not Ejide, but funny enough Ejide lack d same confidence and composure that a lot believe is d problem of Akpeyi,I can tell anybody that Ezenwa and Ajiboye are better keeper than Ejide.

Recommending Ejide not Aiyenugba should tell u a lot are running d show behind Rohr.

If Enyeama w not make it,then we should concentrate on what we have,Akpeyi,Ezenwa, Ajiboye, Uzoho, Alampasu, instead of going back to Ejide.

I believe with more matches before WC things w take shape.

It's pretty much simple these so called old legs as you call them. Are tried tested and proven at the highest levels if football.

These young ones are mainly untested, unproven and yet to play anywhere near the highest levels of football.

Essentially these players have just one quality they are young. After that potential but not much else in comparison. So why not call all these potential and test them against the old legs. Because the current best RB in the world is Brazilian international Danny Alves who is 34. Or should we talk about Evra French international who is 36.

I prefer the best players young or old if you are good enough you are old enough.
Oh Dany Alves still playing at d highest level with PSG,d same thing Patrice Evra doing it with Marseille.

Our own Taiye Taiwo in Finland,Osaze Odenwegie in Indonesia, IK Uche in 2nd LA liga,Obafemi Martins in China which is debatable.

Pls check it out,not comparable

that's how they treated Alaba, Adekanye etc
I dislike people who discriminate.

And their sins must be remembered. From now on I will go against any appointment of Amuneke in any of our National team. An eye for an eye. Sentiments first before performance for him.

On as second though, I still want to be sure that letter was not made up.. where u dig am from?
Thank God we have foreign coach,am apostle of given local coaches chance due to our ex international who had d opportunity of playing in Europe and are into coaching believing they must be better than home bred coaches.

If Deji letter is true then Amuneke did not do well not necessarily for d guy to make d team, give him d chance.

The same thing happened to Sammy Ameobi when he willingly came to U20 camp but Obuh said No,a month later d guy made his debut for Newcastle main team.

I remember Manu Garba gave a boy playing for Chelsea a chance in his team to UAE 2013,we need more of this from our coaches.
