There was an imbalance in defense yesterday. Eric Chelle had no business altering the right combination of Fredrick and Bassey. Ajayi clearance was like adding fuel to fire. I pitied the young lad at right back yesterday, he was constantly under threat and pressure.
He would have played Awaziem at right back as he is good defensely and also good on the ball. He is also good at delivering the right crosses.

RB- Awaziem
LB- Sanusi
CB- Bassey
CB- Fredricks
Awaziem would have been exposed badly yesterday, Chelle got it right with his four man defence, the pressure damn too much cuz Iwobi and Ndidi were off

you people have come with all these westernised players that have no passion and fighting spirit to play for fatherland like lookman and iwobi
Lookman played very well for his fatherland and reason why he won APOTY,yes he is not in form...go and watch last Afcon and tell me Lookman lacking passion....I will pick Calvin Bassey over Osimhen talking about players ratings during Afcon and WC qualifiers abi Bassey na local.

That's the nature of international football to be honest.

You can play over 350+ games during your professional playing career but only 15-20 games for your NT.

I think KC is the only one we should move on from. If the likes of Boniface, Sadiq and Awo reignite their professional careers and find form why shouldn't they get called up? They don't have to start but it's good to have options. Players come in and out of the NT all the time.
Sincerely I don't think Tolu is better than Sadiq and Awoniyi but Sadiq and Awoniyi getting into this team go hard o

Excellent tactics.

Pls Osayi should not start our next match.

Imagine if the referee had given the Panthers, a PK as a result of that shove by Osayi.

The deflection that led to the equaliser, was also from him.

His defending leaves a lot to be desired.
Aina is not available so Osayi is starting

I swear, and he's good o, but omo he doesn't inspire confidence to me like Zaidu or Benjamin.

That Gabon goal, it was his clearance back to the Gabonese that gave them that second shot + his deflection.

If Nwabali seff dey active, he for save that thing, even with the deflection.
It's very rear for a keeper to save deflecting shot but am seeing Nwabali losing his position to Okoye

Peter Obi didn't got the clear picture of the whole thing before commenting or does he think Nigeria government is responsible for all these unpaid allowances...the same government he was castigating gave $100k each to Falcons and the Tigeress

Sharp lineup, but Semi Ajayi for Awaziem 🙏🏾
Since Ajayi won't be available due to suspension and Ekong form is issue, then Frederick should go back to his CB role to pair Bassey...in the absence of Aina,Osayi the deputy should start.... Awaziem is my favorite talking ball playing defender but defensively I don't trust him

Eric Chelle must use this lineup agaisnt Gabon for Solidity. When Ajayi returns he replaces Awaziem.

Second half bring in Moses Simon and Frank Onyeka to shore up the team. And may be Akor for Lookman in the dying minutes
Lookman on the bench for Moses, while Frederick pair Bassey and Osayi start,I don't see Awaziem starting

Haaaa even you? Labeling football conversation as agenda? No naa. This is a new trend on this thread and for the sake of fruitful conversation, we must stop labeling every criticism as agenda driven.

I started this conversation but I didn't not critique Lookman on his playing abilities. Like kennysville opined, it's a criticism on decision making. Others have pivoted and are drawing comparisons between Lookman and Akor. That's fine too because it's a matter of opinion which we can either agree or disagree with. Surely you do not want us to have singular train of opinion.
Nigeria qualifications to WC in tight situation not cuz of any player but NFF,my point is simple,do not blame any player for our situation but the system, yes a I said agenda cuz how could someone said Lookman don't deserve to be in eagles starting XI...yes different opinions but some opinions doesn't suit football analysis, imagine singled out a player as if he is the major problem of the team....oya tell me how Lookman fared during Afcon qualifications,if not for unavailability of VAR he scored two good goals but the same player is nonsense and funny his protracted transfer was not put into consideration.....mind you I will start XI that played Benin against Gabon and Lookman on the bench, starting Akor.

For the last time.... this is not about form!!!! it really is about decision making. No one wants Lookman removed. He should do more by playing for the team and not for himself. We (or lemme speak for myself) aren't even comparing him with other players. All we are saying is for him to be less selfish. The team should learn to play for one another. If you see a team mate with a better position to score, release the ball. That singular decision could be the only reason the team progresses. But if at all times, you also want to prove a point that you can also score, that's when you make weird decisions (which Lookman does a lot!!!). If na so Messi, Suarez and Neymar take do, we wont be talking about the efficiency of MSN.
Sir Kenny,no o this is getting serious, pls what is Lookman offence, you guys are just criticizing the guy anyhow, wetin happen bro,pls bring out Lookman selfish play in eagles, this is becoming agendas...common this is current APOTY,imagine someone saying Akor is better now,yes good to start with last XI against Gabon but the disrespect is too much bro.

I challenge you to bring out Lookman selfish play with eagles, where Osimhen or any other players are free with advantages ito score with ease and Lookman refused to pass

For me personally I've not been overly critical of Lookman because of the transfer issue that said we can't wait for him to get his mojo back at the expense of the SE success.

He will come good I'm sure but how long that will take I can't say so for now pending when he gets back to form the coach shouldn't allow paper reputations or bias to cloud his judgment on the best group of players to deliver this qualification ticket.
Let me tell you Koko,we have Chuckwueze,Simon and Lookman to pick from,I just hope anyone selected should do the needful

Added to why Napoli was having strained relationships with him. They probably thought he would skip AFCON to be fully fit for them and by the time he got back from CIV he was almost completely drained physically and mentally.

I believe he has it, but has not explored that aspect of his game.
He scored a few goals with intense shot that banged the net in Napoli, although he took those shots in the box, it would be nice seeing him score from outside the box with powerful shots.
Osimhen cannot have everything. He did not built his game on shots and reason why he is flourishing .... Osimhen is a type of striker that uses pressing to finish any defenders and always working hard on the field of play, fact his pressing game is crazy
