Ekong, but Osimhen should be taking our penalties henceforth unless we are in extreme pressure to score.
Question and your answer said Ekong but if we are not under pressure Osimhen should be taken penalties....no coach does that, your best penalty taker does it if he(Ekong)is available.

Omeruo is a better penalty taker than Ekong.

I will pick Moffi over Ekong too.
Ekong is our best penalty taker... against Ghana under pressure he came forward confidently and did it.

Penalties shootout is different from penalty during the course of a match, especially WC qualifiers when a team is trailing by a lone goal.

Ekong na baba

OK,no problem, but u should include Mikel if Etim is to be included, because he was a marvel to watch in that midfield position before Mourinho converted him to a holding midfielder.

Even though it was a youth tournament, but the way he dominated midfield in the final match against Argentina, not many Nigerian players could do it that way.
Mikel against Spain in confederation cup proved Mourinho wrong.....it was a terrible decision to convert one of the brightest young Africa player to DM.

Kanu has already attained legendary status and Okocha's level in Nigeria football even before becoming a super eagles player, or a full member at least.

Thank God he overcame the heart problem that threatened to cut short his career, but if he had decided to quit football then before playing for super eagles, he would still be remembered as one of the greatest and best Nigerian players of all time.
I believe u should understand between his super eagles career and his football career by now.

I don't know what Etim Esim achieved in super eagles, but his name keeps popping up here and there when discussing Nigerian best talented players.
Etim Esin damn a good player but sincerely nothing to discuss about him, very indiscipline player that lack respect......he was so good that Nigeria bankrolled his surgical operation when he was shot leaving camp at night without informing his coaches, Nigeria made sure he made the under 21 team despite the gun shot.

He would have overshadowed Jay Jay or possibly JayJay would have find it difficult to attain his status just like we are yet to find another JayJay Okocha.

Etim career full of drama, from gun shot, breaking camp rules and later rape,he ran away from Belgium and never remain the same again, later played for Eagle Cement in Nigeria league cuz fans just want to see him again, during Eagle Cement matches, home or away, fans were eager to see Etim.

Etim rape case shattered Nigeria fans hearts and many didn't forgive him but Okocha erased it all and put smiles on Nigeria fans

Nickname Etim Maradona Esin.

Mind you my comment was a replied to a quote telling us that apart from Okocha we have other good midfielders and I tried to put them generationally.

Pls our differ opinions make this thread thicker.

if you say so. For me I rate Mikel very highly but Jayjay was already a household name, a brand. The position Mikel played affected his rating and it's unrelated because Kanu we are talking about is a 2 times APOTY which no other Nigerian won in 2 decades until Osimhen.
Kanu performance in 6 Afcons and 3 WC will always make it debatable to rate him as Nigeria best.

If going by APOTY then Ikpeba is greater than Okocha.

i totally disagree with you, players are rated base on club and national team all over the world unless you have an a bias mindset. You can't throwaway 100s of games to rate a player base on a few national team games. Argentina and the world already know Messi is the GOAT, he only needs the world cup to cement that status. Watch players with open mind, Osimhen playing for Gala, he's not just representing Gala but also putting Nigeria on the map. Yes national team football is important just as club football. Kanu represented SE playing 86games and you want to tell me he was just a squad member or a pushover even in the SEs. It's an insult to even use Boniface who's not even an established SE player to compare Legendary kanu because he has zero Afcon goals
Meaning Mikel is greater than Okocha

Nigeria football history began in 1994 on the global stage. All those aforementioned names don’t count . Folks that couldn’t qualify for the World Cup in their prime.
No Oga, Nigeria football global history started in 1976 with Afcon bronze, this team qualified for 1976 Olympics games..The same team almost made it to 1978 WC with Odiye scored own goal.....the same team won Afcon 1980.

1975-1980 eagles was the first golden generation not 1990--1994 set

Do you want to hear Koko.....Kodak under 17 WC gave us real breakthrough in world of football though under age and from there people began to respect name Nigeria

These are generational talents and not easy seeing them.

Haruna Ilerika
Henry Nwosu
Etim Esin
Austin Okocha......Mikel Obi would have joined these generational talents but Mourinho did him shege.

When you watched these great guys then you appreciate football more....

You can't talk about SE players with talking about their club performance week in week out. You did not notice this players until they begin to perform for their various clubs. Let's not deceive ourselves, I don't care about champions league blah blah blah, but Lookman hattrick almost shot down the page. If Osimhen score hattrick for his club this place go shut down.
Oga Zicky,Kanu is intelligent and won laurels that only Mikel can compete with but Kanu cannot be the best Nigeria player ever, only way to rate Nigeria best player is Super eagles,I repeat it Super eagles.......how could Nigeria best ever player went to 6 Afcons and 3 WCs with no goal and his assists is debatable..... Argentines accepted Messi after winning WC,and they valued his goals and assists.

I respect Kanu cuz I watched his debut match live for Nationale against Ranchers bees of Kaduna in FA cup played in Ilorin,he came in from the bench and scored, zeal it for Iwanyanwu in a dramatic way, after the match me and my friends went to Circular hotel in Ilorin where Nationale lodged to see tall and skinny boy Kanu, then baba I be real local football fan and tagged stadium boy.

Pls how would you rate Boniface as at today in Nigeria football history compare to Osimhen and Lookman

18 years old Nigerian eligible goalkeeper,Awesu Lanre has signed his first professional contract with West Ham United.
Congratulations 🎉
West Ham Olarewaju Mubarak Awesu news made me to remember ex Nigeria international Kunle Awesu,a left winger, many who watched him in the 70s always saying he is the best ever Nigeria left foot winger....fans in 70s till date believe that Kunle Awesu and Thompson Usiyen are the bests, rating Usiyen over Yekini.

The duo of Awesu and Usiyen left Nigeria to United States to pursue their academic goals and fans were shattered by that decision, funny AWESU left without informing his club and friends like Okala,Muda Lawal.

Kunle Awesu lived a very secluded life and till date nobody can trace his family history, his wife, children even his grandparents but from what I heard Kunle Awesu hailed from Offa in Kwara State.

Are we going to have another AWESU in Lanre in eagles after Kunle, time will tell but NFF need to cap our FBs keepers ASAP, recently we are on dearth of quality keepers, capping Arthur Okonkwo and the likes not a bad idea

One thing I have always said is if I ever decide to be governor or president Economics would be made compulsory in all schools from SS1 to university 200 level...

Volume of debt or size of debt is not an issue
Ability to repay is the issue

Someone can owe 2 million and be worse than someone who owe 10 billion

In nigeria the issue we talk about is our revenue to debt servicing is too high..

We need to increase revenue, sadly the only way to do that is to borrow more but use it for what would generate revenue or ability to pay back the loan

So borrowing and using it to build road, bridge, rails, and the reat feel good projects is foolishness... Very big foolishness

And that's what APC have been doing since
Brilliant but with this your state didn't make you a commissioner on economics ...talk sweet o.

It's better you always separate between the greatest super eagles player and the greatest Nigerian player,it will make it easier for people to understand and cause less arguments.
Even between the best and the greatest.

Like in my own book,
Kanu is the greatest Nigerian player of all time, and probably the best Nigerian player, but he may not necessarily be the greatest or best super eagles player of all time.
The title for greatest super eagles player should go to Rashidi.

In this way.

Greatest Nigerian player of all time: Kanu

Greatest super eagles player of all time: Rashidi.

Best Nigerian player of all time: Okocha/Kanu

Best super eagles player of all time: ??
I did the separation and cited eagles but some don't read the line before replying

We saw him at Arsenal for 5 years & how he made most West Africans love Arsenal
He won everything in club football
He won u17 World Cup & Olympics with Nigeria
Portsmouth haven’t won another FA cup till date
Henry even stated he’s one of the most technically gifted African players he’s played with
Nigeria can’t even qualify for Olympics these days
Kanu’s 1999 hat trick against Chelsea is unmatched in his set
Lookman comes close against Leverkusen
Some of us do rate our players performances relating it to super eagles, not even under 17 or Olympics but Super eagles.

We are not saying Kanu is not good, talking club career he is our best till date.

I know what unity cup is and I remember Obafemi Martin's playing in the 2004 one, my point is that it doesn't make sense to use majority of home based players for the tournament only for them to be discarded.

Taminu was getting regular call ups from Tanzania only to be ignored since moving to Crawley where he barely makes the team.

Bameyi can only leave Yum Yum FC to Bayelsa despite taking spots that quality players would have taken advantage of.

The likes of Lesotho, Rwanda and Benin won't callup their equivalent of Taminu, Papa Daniel or Bameyi in their national team as they will select the best players.

I know it's a fun tournament but It doesn't make sense to me to have players we don't plan to integrate in the national team as the moment they sign for European clubs they are no longer considered for future callups.
If I give you the list of Lesotho players you will be surprised,Tanimu will make Lesotho team with ease.

My point our stars will not be available for Unity cup so what do we do

My logic is not about the averageness of our LB. My logic is that if you play Aina on the right, you utilize him at his best. See what eventually happened: we used Aina on the LB and got a goal but it was through the right side of our defense that Zimbabwe scored.
Goals can come in from any sides but fact Osayi and Ekong are tired, expecting Chelle to move Aina to the RB and Bruno to kill the game with Osayi out but fact Ekong should have done better with Zimbabwe goal.

Hope you remember Peseiro too preferred Aina as LB when Sanusi wasn't available during Afcon with Bruno in the team.....he put Osayi as RB and Aina as LB.

I got your point, but a very solid LB in the team would not have been on the bench for right footer or possibly have not watched Bruno keenly.

NFF will most likely use this to pull the same nonsense they did with the Mexican friendly. NPFL players will be displayed for marketing purposes for transfers to backwater European and Asian clubs.

We will then proceed to lose all matches and our ranking will tank accordingly.

No experimenting or fine tuning of tactics. Such is the NFF way.
I think it's time for some of us here to understand how things are being done regarding football friendlies or invitational tournament.....the 4 nations tournament is out of FIFA window and you are expecting NFF to invite grade A players.

The Mexican friendly you are talking about gave us Stanley Nwabali and Olisa Ndah, sometimes it's not about winning but exposing your players and fact Mexican football federation lacks fund to cover for our grade A players.....the second friendly saw mixing of foreign and home base and this was due to fund made available by Mexican football federation.

Yes NFF is annoying but getting this invitation tournament is good for the future
