Odunayaw: Ball playing CB does not mean we over look quickness and defensive ability o. Did I said over look defensive ability? My point you can't be defending alone without knowing how to use the ball effectively. Most coaches preferred having both but in a situation where one cannot get it,then you look for CB with good positional play with ball sense and pair him with defensive ability defender to balance things up. |

Mujtahida: Mad people dey Nigeria. We dey complain say Ekong lacks pace. Now see suggestion that we should bring back Balogun who when the Oyibo wall was in place was slower than Ekong. Slower but better than Ekong with his feet on the ball...Osas Obayiuwana is a respectable sports journal man with stint in CAF and FIFA so he sabi wetin he dey talk.....fact,eagles need ball playing CB to compliment Bassey and I don't mind having Olisa Ndah or any ball playing CB,I don't know much of Ogbu. Going into archive....Christian Chuckwu a libero with Tunde Bamidele a stopper...Keshi/Eboigbe...Uche Ikechuckwu/Chidi Nwanu....Uche Okechukwu/Taribo West....Yobo/Danny Shittu...Omeruo/Oboboana....Balogun/Ekong Last Afcon we have 3 brawlers as CBs in Ekong,Ajayi and Bassey in 3-5-2 and reason why our possessive football was poor even against weaker opponents Chelle 4 at the back need ball playing CB to connect the middle not two raw CBs |

Meliforme: We should have waited for Nwabali to join Barcelona. Nwakali in SA would have been better than Nwakali in English division 3. I don't know why a Portuguese div one player wil join English division three..... Nwakali need to get it right. He can only get invitation on sentiment just like having Papi Daniel.AE did it for him in Afcon 2021. But guess what, during international break, English third tier clubs are busy so better for Nwakali to sort things out,his talent is above division 3. |

ChrisKels: If course Olisa Ndah is a good mention but my reservation is that he is injury prone. Sincerely we need ball playing CB cuz we cannot be kicking ball from the back leaving middle stranded and making Osimhen dey run like Usain Bolt, reason why I keep on saying only Osimhen can thrive with our playing style or maybe Awoniyi, other strikers will always finding it difficult to cope. |

Meliforme: Don't worry, guys from Mamelodi Sundowns will whip your guys from the EPL, if you don't provide the right complement of players and the right tactical minds.
Can you explain why we lack creative midfielders even to date. We don't have a profile like Nwakali. Raphael Onyedika is arguably the best when it comes to the game of making passes of the ball, but he is still not better than Kelechi Nwakali, neither is he more creative. Uche Christanus is the key |

Karlovych: With all these key passes and long balls Chaves still got relegated and he could only end up in division 3, same with Ponferadina the season before that and Huesca from La Liga
At almost 27 years of age he has played less than 3 seasons as a top flight professional footballer.
We need serious individuals for the team and let him work hard to improve his game at the top level. Uche Christanus is the key |

ChrisKels: It seems no one wants to say it due to the respect we have for him, yea we appreciate Ekong for everything he has done and still doing but with him as a centre back, especially when we play 4 men at the back instead of 3, we will always concede goals.
Chelle should use this 4 team tourney in England in July to try out new combos if he must continue playing 4 men at the back. Let's see what Bassey and Igoh Ogbu combo could bring. Ekong lacks pace and if Zimbabwe had made good use of their counters the other day, they would have dusted us completely.
I feel Bassey and Ogbu could give us some kinda Fulham Bassey/Adarabioyo synergy and show. If Ogbu is a ball playing CB but if he is not, forget the balance with Bassey, all we need is good ball playing CB to compliment dirty job of Bassey, reason why I keep on mentioning Olisa Ndah but to some he is playing in SA but Mamelodi Sundown are leading our group comfortably 😊 |

safarigirl: As soon as I saw that list, I was asking, “Who are some of these people?”
If you want to bleed new players, you do it in friendlies, not high stakes World Cup qualifications. It was the same foolish mistake Eguaveon made against Ghana in 2022 that cost us that ticket. You went to field Dennis, and new bloods Bassey and Lookman in a must win second leg match against your longtime rivals, because Twitter boys gave you lineup.
Games you need to win, you call on your old reliables. Frank Onyeka was so massive at the AFCON, I can’t believe they just omitted him like that. A player like that would have screened the midfield and prevented that 89th minute goal.
Three years later, and we have still come back to the same issues; not knowing the right personnel to execute certain games.
Then somebody is coming here to say we’re blaming NFF and Coach because we don’t want to blame the faves. Who are the faves? Maduka is not here to collect any blame, there is no Uzoho, there is no Iheanacho. What is consistent here, is an administrative body that cannot administer. They failed with getting the right coach at the right time. Why did we have 3 points after 4 games? Whose fault was that?
We had success under Maigari and Pinnick, even when we had to bleed through to get them. Both of these guys had great achievements in their administration, flaws and all, what has this new guy achieved? Wahala plenty no be small, imagine Onyenka didn't make the list.... |

Mujtahida: Iwobi has 10 goals. Without him we would not have qualified for the last World Cup we played. Go and watch the last Afcon matches against Cameroun and Angola. Iwobi even though he played deep gave the pre-assist to the second goal we scored against Cameroun and then the only goal we scored against Angola. You see I'm talking factually now. Not some bubbly notion about how good he is. I'm giving you facts.
Baba, sorry oo you no watch yesterday match well. Tension color your vision. But more than that you have preconceived notions and you watched Iwobi with that eye.
Iwobi was a standout performer yesterday.
Point is that I'm not saying he should not be criticized. But at the same time, we should be realistic. If a player, plays well. Applaud him. If he does not, criticise him. The fact of yesterday's match was that apart from Osimhen, Iwobi was the next best player out of our attacking players. Lookman, Simon, Chukwueze were poor.
The thing with Iwobi is that we want a better creative midfielder. That is a valid point nevertheless we often conflate our desire for a better CM with the match to match performance of Iwobi and then judge him unfairly.
We should separate the conversation: there is the conversation on our need for a better CM. There is also the conversation on the match to match performance of Iwobi. Yesterday oo, he played well.
From Rohr to Eguavoen to Peseiro to Finidi to Eguavoen again and now Chelle, Iwobi continues to feature. Una say he is terrible. Abi him dey use juju confuse the coach? Iwobi na my player right from his debut...he need to carry the team like a leader,he is the most senior player....I no dey enjoy him again |

Away to Rwanda that is even high altitude we held them all through the second half to secure the 2-0 scorline. It was just sheer carelessness from the boys, same as the Rwanda game in uyo when they came from behind to win us 2-1 no wonder the Zimbabwe coach had the audacity to say if there was more time they would have won us yesterday. All games against SA, Rwanda and Zimbabwe in Uyo were all under different coaches but similar results, we should all note this before we turn on the coaches or nff A friend called me immediately Zimbabwe scored and said ORE(friend) I go kill Ekong today, eagles don cut my ticket😄 |

semid4lyfe: Elder, with all due respect visit an optician for new glasses.
Iwobi played well and delivered a masterclass of a performance yesterday. He did his job and that of Ndidi. He was always dropping deep to collect the ball from the defenders, a job which ordinarily Ndidi ought to have been doing.
Ndidi was the weak link in that midfield due to his poor positional awareness, lack of anticipation, poor passing, ball-carrying & advancing ability.
Removing Iwobi was a wrong call by the coach. Rather, Ndidi ought to have been removed for Alhassan Yusuf or Onyedika.
Pls dead this talk of home-based players. This foreign-based despite their disappointing results, I still believe are better than the home-based players.
No worry, CHAN no too far so we'll come back to ths issue of home-based players again. Masterclass performance indeed....with due respect I need old glasses given by optician from any of your oldies. Did I said home based players are better? I'm not impressed with any of our players except Osimhen and Nwabali....yes I singled out Iwobi cuz am always expecting much from him, yesterday am not impressed |

charlesemeka85: Many are mentioning names of players that failed yesterday but to me the person that should take 100% of the blame is the coach and his crew
Didn’t watch the game yesterday due to commitments but from the info I got after the game Chelle bleeped up big time
You desperately need a win which is 3 points which u were on the verge of getting but ignorantly threw that away. As a coach managing a team in such desperate position in the group what matters for now is winning your games but not destroying your opponents with mind blowing score lines like 3-0,4-0 etc, what matters most judging by the teams position in the group is winning as much as they can
When the team got the goal in the second half the ideal thing to do is sub in more bodies to the midfield and defence to protect the lead as well as hit the opponent on counter attack when there is opportunity for that
Chelle is a good tactician but the problem he has is he is desperate to impress his employers and super eagles fans by winning pretty with big goal margins forgetting that his major focus should be on getting 3 points in each game by hook or crook ie by any means
He is new to the job and it will take a bit of time for the players to adapt to his tactics and philosophy but till then he should focus on winning games in this ongoing WCQ series and pray that other teams in the group drop points Pls go and watch the game Oga Charles |

TheSuperNerd: Ball playing midfielders.
Uche is one. Akinsanmiro is another. Nwakali in EFL League one is another but let's forget him.
The first 2 are ball playing midfielders who will do a good job, I am convinced but no... we keep snubbing this "conundrum" coach after coach nd after coach.
Even Eguavoen mentioned this when he failed to bear Rwanda at home and also knew this when we failed against Ghana. My problem is that they know but still don't get proactive on the solution. Nwakali is a Nigerian so we should not forget him, forget him for who,Iwobi wey dey play nonsense, enough of over hyping of our players, time to fix things with players who are ready irrespective of their league status |
