Hello Oga Ikenna, just bought Nigerian used 406 v6 auto recently. It is showing sport and snow blinking which I suppose its the gear box problem. The owner told me I needed to only change the automatice gearbox and everything will be ok. However I drove the car like that from Lagos to Abuja like that (I must confess 406 v6 is a beast on the road). On coming to Abuja I took the car to a mechanic and he remove the thermostat (NOTE: he removed only the casing not the whole thermostat which I still have with me - can it be fixed or I have to buy the whole thermostat again). I must confess since the thermostat was remove it has been drinking fuel like crazy.

Then just yesterday I started seeing engine diagnostic light/check engine light on the dashboard. I also experience difficult start in the morning or when the engine is cold. I have to crank several times before the engine starts in the morning.

Please Ikenna can you help? I have also spent a lot on this car changing one or two things. And I hope you won't charge me a lot in order to get my 406 back to life when I take it to you.

iPhone X represented Apples first move into uncharted waters. The company is known to be very conservative in design changes and even in implementing new features (hence all the memes comparing the new iPhone to the three year old Samsung Galaxy S6).

Despite the drastic manufacturing move Apple made with the iPhone X, it got some features right, Face ID, for instance, seems spot on and the new portrait-lighting camera features are a work of art. However, not every change was so lucky. During the launch event, Apple praised the iPhone X to be “most durable glass ever in a smartphone, front and back” something that couldn’t be further from the truth.

ccording to tests done by a company called Square Trade, a drop test from a height of 6 feet left the display not only broken but also completely unusable since a third of the screen went blank and unresponsive. Breaking the rear glass occurs just as easy but does not affect usability.

I thought that maybe this was an isolated case, so I went hunting around, apparently CNET did a test of their own and were met by the same misfortune: shattered glass on first drop.

What makes this revelation so worrying? Two things: Apple’s assurance that the glass is the most durable out there and secondly, this $1000 device costs $279 to fix a cracked front display, breaking both the front and back costs you a whopping $550, that is more than half the entire cost of the device and enough money to buy you most high end devices today like One Plus 5, HTC U11 just to mention a few.

Even worse, the cheaper iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have been reported to hold up better on drop tests. Square Trade ranks the iPhone 8 at 67/100 (the lesser the better) which means medium risk, iPhone 8 Plus at 74/100 which is medium-high risk of breaking, the iPhone X is at a record high risk of 90/100. For comparison with other brands, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 which has a huge 6.3 inch screen (iPhone X is 5., which is also curved at the edges handles drops better with a rating of 80/100.

As you buy that expensive shiny iPhone X, remember to invest in a cover…maybe also add an extended warranty and a phone insurance policy as well, they might collectively cost you less than repairing that first-drop screen crack.

The Fear of TSTV ? DSTV Launches Internet Based Subscription Model With 30GB Data

Internet-based pricing model was first introduced by a Nigerian pay-tv provider, TSTV, which was launched on October 1, 2017. The high level of acceptance of the model by Nigerians shows it is a good business strategy to capture more customers.

And this poses a lot of threat to DSTV and other products of MultiChoice in Nigeria. This is because Nigeria is the largest market for DSTV and GOTV in Africa. No wonder DSTV has been trying all they can to launch a reprisal attack against her enemies.

Within the period under consideration, StarTimes introduced Pay per view option, and Kwese tv launched in Kenya and in Nigeria with the pay as you watch making the market more competitive.

Africa’s leading pay-tv provider, MultiChoice thought it wise to introduce free internet based subscription model to the market, hence partnered with Telkom to offer a combined entertainment and Internet service to subscribers at an affordable cost.

According to the advert dubbed ‘DSTV Na Net‘, customers purchasing a full DSTV HD decoder will download a free Mifi-router preloaded with 30GB Data from Telkom.

According to M.D MultiChoice Kenya, “We understand that Internet has become a basic necessity for doing business and interacting with other people socially. That is why this partnership with Telkom is an important step towards improving our customer experience.”

This service is currently only available in Kenya and with time, it will download to other Africa country.
