Eartquake1: I wonder what rejecting Belgium will do to Cyril Dessers, maybe he'll stop scoring goals, maybe endorsements will stop coming his way
Mtweew
How can you reject what has not been presented to you.
When and where was Dessers given an official call up to the Belguim team.
First of the Belguim FA recognise that thier league is not the best in Europe. So what you find is the vast majority if not all of thier top players play in the top 3/4 leagues of Europe.
If Dessers was in EPL or La Liga or Seria A getting those figures he would be taken more seriously.
With regards to marketing and branding Dessers profile will attract little or no interest. For instance Rashford will be making just from Nike at least £3 million a year possibly more now.
ChrisKels: I hope he maintains this form through the season, especially btwn January and February when Rohr will be drawing his list. That said, we still have a long process to go through, to get him cleared.
So far, Ajayi is rated the best central defender in the league while Iorfa ain't far brhind, but the prospect of having these two in the epl soon, gives me joy
Are you taking statistically❓
Or maybe are you talking about the Skybet Championship players of the month awards.
For example Mitrovic Fulham won the award for October. For September it was defender Dunkley at Wigan.
So who awarded him best central defender in the championship so far, cause l haven't come across that yet.
OMANBALA1: Don't tell a grown man you will "teach" him, oga. Are you his teacher or father ? You have a false sense of importance....lmao. Very condescending.
As a man thinketh so he is.
To the impure all things are impure.
Teach is not a derogatory term or is too you.
Teach, show, present, all convey the same purpose.
safarigirl: what exactly does this mean and where is the feminism in that view? Have you reached the stage where you are bereft of proper reasoning?
Is a tourist likely to drive from Lagos to Benin? No.
Mujtahida just look at the character you are advocating for
The term feminist isn't in reference to feminism as an ideology.
But the female view with regards to driving on the highways of Nigeria. Female will drive in the city but rarely on the highway.
As a consequence the male view and or experience is DRAMATICALLY DIFFERENT from the female one in Nigeria. .
I have noticed that you hardly ever see females driving on our highways at any time. I stand to be corrected. If at all its very rare.
Consequently, your experiential view will not be the general view.
It's not about tourists it's about the general practice of driving late at night in Nigeria considered to be way too dangerous.
As opposed to most countries in Africa.
My question remains, l reiterate. Is it considered normal and safe practice to drive from one city to another on our Nigerian highways late at night please ❓
Finally, when are you going to stop abusive language and unnecessary contention. This is very light hearted matter that you have brought abuse into and insult into. But why ❓ It makes no sense what's the problem.
Starboytwo: you sabi something, even me dey try use am once in a while for here, works better when defender get momentarily looseguard... I'm Always elated, whenever I successfully manouver the ball...
When the defender is behind you, and you can feel him
1- Just rest your body or preferably, I use my hands and push d defender backward a bit(to generate small space) 2-then act like you was gonna pass to a teammate(if the defender follows your movement)
3- then make a "sharp cut"( inward) that little space is your escape... Abeg no be say I dey feel myself, but it works sometimes... Not all times..Works better when defender is tired, or sleeping...
I'll teach you a better one.
Receive the ball to feet in or just outside the 18 with the defender behind you.
Don't turn but push backwards defender will resist and get tight as he's pushing back at you to gain traction defenders legs will be wide open.
In one move release pressure with back to the defender then nutmeg him, with a side back heel.
Run straight your now one on one with the goalkeeper score. Itsaaa goal !!!
I knew a woman that made these trips every weekend from Abuja to Lagos and back, I knew her five years and only once, did she come back with tales of a robbery.
If someone is visiting for tourism, what is the likelihood of traveling interstate?
This year, tens or even hundreds of American tourists died mysteriously after visiting the Dominican Republic, are people not going there? Do tourists not visit Mexico and Colombia with their drug cartel issues? What is so bad about Nigeria that tourists cannot come here?
Most tourists are usually domiciled in one state, and most times, within an area. If you were to visit Nigeria and ended up in Obudu, Yankari, Olumo rock or Ikogosi Warm Springs, what is the likelihood of encountering any dangers?
In Kenya, over the last five years, Al-Shabbab have orchestrated multiple shootings in malls, have you heard of such an occurrence in any Nigerian mall? Are people not visiting Kenya still?
Every end of the year, Nigeria is buzzing with activities and concerts, when last have you heard something fatal occurring in any of these concerts? I mean, as fatal as the shootings that have happened in USA concert grounds over the last few years?
I don't know what you think you know of Nigeria, but the insecurity tales barely reach the tourism industry.
For those of you guys who drive.
Are you guys comfortable driving from city to city late at Night. I gave the example of driving from Lagos to Benin and leaving at 7pm plus.
I don't think the feminist view of Safarigirl is all-inclusive. Then l will share my personal experience.
OMANBALA1: And look at this redundant attempt at defamation, which we have come to know you for. This whole post is nothing but a delusional and demented attempt to save a battered and disgraced image. And to think that you are still here without any shame writing your typical beautiful nonsense.
You make claims and accusations you have nothing to back up with...if I say prove any of the accusations you made against me in that rubbish you typed you can't prove it and this is who we have come to know you for. You declared I am a coward in real life yet you don't know me...remember when I said you are demented ? Dementia is a medical condition suffered mostly by geriatric patients and you are not far off the mark!
You have been rebuffed and refuted with facts by young boys you are old enough to be their grandpa yet you have no shame. Yes, Supernerd is old enough to be your son yet he has used facts to slap you around like a little biitch. These guys beat , whip and slap you around yet you are still here trying to keep relevance.
One day you are from Peckham, next you studied in Enugu , next you be confirm Warri boy...you have no self worth nor esteem.
I have never ever said l from Peckham not once.
Born in the UK but made in Warri, my Father was an academic at UNN as a result l learned Ibo by association and participation.
NOBODY TO DATE HAS BEEN ABLE TO SUBSTANTIATE ONE ALLEGATION AGAINST ME.
Make a lot of noise and opinionated presumption with conjecture but nothing substantiated.
Below just one screenshot shot of your penchant for exclusion and discrimination using the principles of tribalism.
It's safe it's clean it's progressively moving forward with good infrastructure and high levels of socio economic people centred programmes.
I am familiar with Nigeria.
Buy do you know in most African countries it's normal to drive inter city late at night.
Try that in Nigeria leave Lagos at 6pm to Benin you would be considered suicidal. And you will have to undergo a binding and casting session to chain all the highway robbers, kidnappers, head hunters etc before you even enter the road.
TheGoodJoe: Watch 1:50 of this clip and see the way Mahrez trapped the ball. You will see his skills in his locker. Not to talk of Bernardo Da Silva who is just pure mad on the ball but still finds it way difficult under pressure.
Next time your watching Mahrez play, watch the way he traps the ball repeatedly. No matter how hard of high the ball is. Check out skills by Marcelo and the way he traps ball too.
This is something l haven't talked about here.
But that thing called first touch is in many respects what demarcates the top players.
ChrisKels: Not funny, I am still in shock and pains. I had my first robbery experience yesterday. I was driving home from a friend’s house at about 7:30pm when I got double crossed by one dirty looking Camry, along old airport road, Emene, I pulled over thinking it was SARS operatives, with their Berettas all pointing at me, dey demanded for my phone and car keys, I played to their tone maka ndu m, I submitted my Tecno Pouvoir2 pro LA7 that I just acquired last October(21st) wey I bn take dey do I makwa ndi anyi bu, dey ransacked my car and made off leaving me with no penny as dey also emptied my wallet.
Wetin pain me pass na one wey tinny like elyte89 come short like Charlesemeka wey collect my cap and brushed it across my face, using Andrew44's deep voice, he said to me ”u think say na u fresh pass for this hood nah"
Guys i just tire like dis
That's not funny at all.
First of all thanks giving to God that you survived unscathed and no injuries. Mental trauma yes.
charlesemeka85: cheap glory for faceless thread? the glory, mention and likes dey pay my bills or credit my account every weeknd? you must be sick. abeg from now hence forth just avoid any of my post or mention because you are becoming too annoying and stupid. i have tolerated you enough
In my opinion the first person to put his head on the line and say that Maja was exceptional was Charlesemeka85, in my opinion.
I have mentioned players but l didn't advocate strongly for him until he destroyed league one.
Just like you advocated for Joe Aribo before anyone else. I may have mentioned him before you but l don't think l advocated strongly for him.
I strongly advocated for Josh Onomah and of course Tega and then very very strongly much later for Fikayo.
But in all of this many many contributors ridiculed and abused Charlesemeka85 and myself. They still do to this day.
That we support only European players and we're I am concerned l discriminate against Nigerian origin players.
OMANBALA1: Guy , I disagree with the notion that I am the most attacked moniker here, after borough Southgate. You could say the most misunderstood but I am not controversial. Nigerian kome-gini ? If you say I am anything like that guy then you are being disingenuous. I am not deceptive, bias , manipulative nor hateful. You may accuse me of high handedness but I dont operate on ulterior motive. I am a pan Africanist and you are comparing me to a disloyal , dishonest and a disgraceful element who dances naked in the market place without bating an eyelid.
Oga, I know you want to take shots at me for somethings I probably said in the past that rubbed you the wrong way but do it in a clean way....comparing me to that walking contradiction of a man without integrity is very disrespectful. There are no basis for comparisons here...he believe English players and their league is the best and want to replace Super Eagles players with borough boys while I am a staunch supporter of our local league and want us to develop and draw players from there. I don't like our players wandering Europe looking for peanuts, neither do I want any Nigerian born to play in England. So , where are the commonalities in our ideologies ? He is not even a white person , just a confused white man's aassslicker.
You can never in your real life or in your online life be like me.
You are an open advocate for double standard bigotry, exclusion and uphold the tenements of tribalism with your open discrimination.
Then add that to your continous consistent reliance on caustic diction, vitriolic rhetoric and abuse to get your befuddled point across. See your language in the bold so typical of you.
You rarely ever underpin your self-justified, self-birthed one sided views with facts and figures. Just subjective deductions.
When l was calling for Obagoal, Ighalo, Efe, Etebo and others l guess they were all born in Peckham London.
When challenged to substantiate your position you always EVADE your really a bully online but a coward in reality. Why you can never have a discussion without abuse and you never rely facts.
I don't know what you are but a honourable patriotic Nigerian you certainly are not.
Mujtahida: Haba bro, I only made an appeal and not that I'm setting an inviolable moral code or acting as a moral police. I'm laughing because you do not realise that you are the Nigerian komekn while komekn is like a low key British Omanbala? Shey you know after komekn you are the most attacked moniker here. it used to be forgive.ness but not anymore.
That's your opinion and observation.
And what does that say about the people here if Indeed your observation is true.
What are the basis of those supposed attacks, disagreements, vitriolic rhetoric and abuse. Is there any justification whatsoever for that kind of behaviour.
I disagree with your correlation STRONGLY first of all. Name one person l have abused ❓ Then secondly name one person l have denigrated.
Football is about opinions thinking one players is better or worse or not so good. Is not an act of abuse or denigration.
OMANBALA takes delight in the most reprehensible vitriolic rhetoric and abuse indeed I find his approach too many here repulsive.
Indeed there are quite a few like him here.
Considering the matter in its entirety if that's the general approach to discourse here. What does it say about the larger majority of contributots here.
Eartquake1: You mean because they had a leg breaker in the field Pele and Maradona were better footballers?
Talking of leg breaks Shaw cross, De Jong, Pepe have had their fair share
You may not remember the quintessential "ENFORCER" Vinny Jones from the crazy Gang of Wimbledon. John Fashanu was one of thier hard men vet limited footballer technically but he could mash people up on the field.
charlesemeka85: the modern game is too robotic and direct. players are not allowed to express themselves on the field of play anymore.
Agreed without reservation or question ❓
But then although it can boring and robotic now it's much more effective and RESULT ORIENTATED.
This is something many hear don't appreciate football is no longer about dribbling and show boating.
How many times do you see Arnold trento dribbling and doing skills. But his end product us ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT. How many assists has he had him and Robertson for Liverpool.
TheGoodJoe: Just as we rate the difficulty of the game in the past era of the game due to tackles and protection, the pace and intensity of the current game will prove difficult to the players of the past.
I have heard old heads say it that they would not be able to cope with the pace of the game today. That is why we have players on mean diets. Even Messi today finds it difficult to ghost past players. You find it hard seeing tricks coming off due to the Zonal presses going on.
I still feel the modern game is far hard due to its pace and intensity.
I have no doubt that the current Manchester City team or Liverpool will trouble the Santos team of Pele, efen whoop them, clearly because of the intensity.
In my opinion football has become way too tactical and strictly disciplined.
All that show boating that JJay use to do will not be tolerated by many managers today.
End product is now the issue not dribbling skills and fancy footwork. Team contribution and cohesion much more important than individual me, myself and I football.
charlesemeka85: According to a report from the Sun, West Ham are set for a battle with Tottenham, Chelsea and Leicester for Queens Park Rangers starlet Eberechi Eze in January, and it would be a real statement from the Hammers, if they win the race for the talented youngster’s signature.
The 21-year-old has been in fine form for Rangers this season. He has racked up seven goals and four assists in 19 Championship outings.
Eze is an attacking midfielder by trade. The youngster is powerfully built, has an eye for goal and is a superb passer of the football.
His game is built around pace, power and dynamism – three things that West Ham sometimes lack in the middle of the park.
The QPR starlet would be an exceptional addition for the Hammers. And beating the likes of Tottenham, Chelsea and Leicester to his signature would make it that little bit sweeter.
The Sun claims that Eze will cost around £20 million. And whilst that seems a lot for someone who is unproven in the Premier League, it could end up being an absolute steal.
The 21-year-old has the ability to go on and become one of the game’s very best. If he continues to develop, he will be some player.
And should West Ham win the race for his signature, they will be dealing a big blow to two of their fierce London rivals.
Football is crazy just 3 years plus Millwall released him that he was not good enough. He was going back to college and working at Tesco.
Holloway who has always appreciated technically gifted players after a successful trial he was signed by QPR.
Although I've known Josh from when he was at Man City he was about 14/15. He couldn't cut and went to the cold north of Sunderland. l didn't talk about him as a prospect then.
I queried his selection for the SE at that time as unjustified.
When he started killing it in league one ❓ Then everyone took notice. Including myself.
Eartquake1: Pele was playing when the world was learning the rudiments of football (akin to one eyed man in the land of the blind)
Modern football is much more complex and goals are much harder to score, for Messi and Cristiano to reign in such difficult circumstances and for such a long time makes them far better than Pele
One goal scored in modern football is equals to 3 goals scored in Pele's era
I disagree.
This was the era of designated hatchet men and butchers. Who has one task to break the legs of the play maker or star player.
Messi and Ronaldo, Neymar would not have survived that era.
Tackling from behind and two footed scissors tackles were rife.
Danielnino00: How beautiful it would have been if U had given this kind of unbiased, honest review for Iheanacho on Sunday..
I will not join you to give a rose tinted delusional view of a player. No matter how much you wish to favour your preferred player.
No excuses have been given for Josh beyond he has to perform. He barely played up to 10 games last season. This season he has played 14 and scored a hat trick today. That's worth celebrating outstanding top class performance.
My view on KC is in the screen shot below.
That's what you call prejudiced imbalanced and biased HATRED, it's my view your opinion or approval are not required.
charlesemeka85: when he was still in league 1 i clamored for him to be capped but i got rain of insults here and was called an asslicker. like i do say always i can never hype trash
I remember that, we got called all kinds of names. The league is a agricultural farmers league poor quality, etc.
It's quote apt to notice that we could effectively have two essentially league one players in the SE.
First Aribo now Maja. Both have stepped up and are bossing thier leagues.
Minutes or no minutes you score hat trick and an assist.
Even if you have a manager who hates he will now do U - Turn and profess undying never ending love.
He has not had much opportunity, but l bet he will start the next match. Confidence is a great ingredient that all strikers need. His confidence must be on top now.
If he can maintain this trajectory then much to my suprise there will be two Nigerian fighting for top scorer in the French league.
