safarigirl:You once said to me that you were given accolades for your knowledge and understanding of football. What's l notice are different socio cultural dynamics at play here. In general you don't invite yourself to the national team. That's just the acceptable norm, considering that these boys have grown up with these norms. It is not acceptable for you to call the NFF or any football association and say select me. What you can do is make discreet soundings to say express your willingness. So once again I'm lost by your sense of understanding. |
edi287:Ovie is already in the bag 100% he made the commitment to Nigeria over two years ago with discretion. But usual NFF politics although Amaju in this regard disappointed me. They simply did not rate Ovie at that time, now the boy is blowing VERU HOT they have remembered him. |
Abusule007:I don't know what Amaju has been waiting for all these years. Ovie made quite and discreet commitment to Nigeria over two years ago. Amaju fall my hand. |
ChrisKels:You are going round in circles and l am not going with you. I have given you my view. Nothing more to say. |
andrewbaba44:I really don't know what to say. |
andrewbaba44:People keep using the word REJECTED how can you reject an invitation when you have never ever got one. I am baffled. |
andrewbaba44:Agreed without reservation or question |
Eartquake1:So lets get the top scorer in the NPFL because he in form. The quality of the league has no bearing according to you. |
Eartquake1:Put Origi and Batshuayi in the lowly Eredivisie what do you think will happen. |
safarigirl:You should ask Martinez and the Belguim FA not me. They have never ever invited him and don't consider his exploits good enough for the Belguim national team. Dessers IMO is not on the level of Batshuayi or Origi. Both players are in top clubs which means that they are not always first choice. Girou hasnt played much but he is still in the French team. When Batshuayi went on loan to the Bundesliga look at how he tore it up. What do you think will happen if you put Origi and Batshuayi in the Eredivisie ❓ Lukaku was not getting game time in Chelsea but was still in the Belguim team. Lukaku goes on loan and rips the EPL. You're sense of reasoning is way beyond me. You are effectively saying that we should bring the highest goal scorer in the NPFL to the SE because he has the most goals. |
Starboytwo:Football is entirely about OPPORTUNITY first. Some players just didn't get the OPPORTUNITY there are many players in Nigeria if given the OPPORTUNITY will make some of these guys people praise here look like amateurs. But unfortunately they didn't get the opportunity some were even denied opportunity. You can have all the talent but without Opportunity it will come to NOTHING this is the harsh reality. This is why l always say OPPORTUNITY must be clearly justified and deserved in a clear objective measured and transparent way. People need to understand opportunity is everything. If Osimhen had stayed at Wolfsburg what would have become of him. Eberechi Eze was released 3 years ago by Millwall he was on his way back to college and working in supermarket. Then he got an opportunity at QPR the rest is history. However, some players get opportunity but do nothing positive with it. So there is the other dimension SEIZING THE OPPORTUNITY. |
ChrisKels:Going back to your assertion and claim. You said, Semi Ajayi has won the most MOTM, players of the month, the most stats and he is the best CB in the Championship. Now look at what you are underpinning your hugely conclusive claim upon. First of who uses Fox sports a USA media outfit. Only you, but even then it's very weak they name him among the five top performing CB's in Championship. But you don't even give it credence with a date. Do you truly think you have truly substantiated your position. I think you have presented your opinion. Which you are entitled too. |
safarigirl:Very weak rational. First of all before Ighalo went to China he had been outstanding in the EPL. EFFECTIVELY you are saying that scoring 10 goals in the Eredivisie is the same as scoring 10 goals in the EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga, Seria A. Your proposition is that irrespective of the league you play all goals are the same. I have nothing to say about your approach beyond, I am lost for words. |
Blueelf:Not being objective how. Pay attention to the specifics and detail. Two different topics here. First, topical question ❓ Was my view on Seyi Ajayi at Rotherham at the time. See my response. Second, question ❓ Who is the best Central Defender in the Championship. I have given my view. However, someone said it's Semi Ajayi but present nothing to underpin his views in that case it's his opinion. |
Eartquake1:In principle you are correct. But in context you are wrong. Scoring goals in La Liga and the EPL is not the same thing as scoring in the Eredivisie. Form or no form. Origi scored two exceptional quality goals for Liverpool yesterday against Everton. He is not off form. |
ChrisKels:You make no point. When Fikayo Tomori played a very limited game at Brighton and Hove and Hull. I said categorically that he was not good enough. Why because in that set up he couldn't play good quality technical football. He goes to Derby with Lampard and he excels beyond all expectation. He is now a first team player for Chelsea and an England international. That's supersonic PROGRESS nobody could have predicted that. I changed nothing. In Rotherham he played kick rush in kick and follow team. I wasn't impressed there was nothing to be impressed about. He had no previous pedigree. He was the outstanding player in that kick and rush team. Prior to Rotherham he had been a journey man in the lower league that typically play long ball and kick and rush. He was not outstanding. It seems looking at it now that playing for Nigeria gave his career a boost and brought much needed recognition to him. Not surprisingly he is in West Bromwich. They must have looked at him playing for Nigeria not just hoofing heading the ball in Rotherham. |
Danielnino00:For players based in Nigeria and home grown without national team selection. It's very hard if not impossible to get a working permit to the top European football leagues. For youth player it's the platform to get into Europe. For players based in Europe they don't need the SE particularly if they are already doing good things in thier league and clubs. Aina was the best RB arguably in the Championship in his first season of professional football. Fikayo, Tega, Oviemuno, Maja, Aribo, Iorfa, etc progressed without the SE. However, it was different for Iwobi, Ekong because the SE got them much needed recognition. |
ILLICITblood:Many years ago l had some dealings with telecoms company GLO. At this stage they were sponsoring some Nigerian players in the EPL. What they were paying was peanuts Comparatively. Marketing is about market identity in Europe people like Pogba have a European recognition and identity. That identiity can be called brand that brand has market impact and creates value in.the market. When kids in England and Europe see Rashford, Dele, Pogba, Ronaldo, Messi wearing particular boots. Those kids want those boots and that demand is expressed in sales. So for instance in England Nike may sell 5 million pairs of football boots a year or more boots that can cost anything from £30 - £200 +. I say this because sales of football sports wear by Adidas exceed £3 billion a year and that's Adidas alone. There is an influence by psychological coercion through advertising and identification. That increases those sales. For that reason sports companies will pay players millions of ££€€ a year in endorsements. Because increased sales can be directly linked to player identity and endorsements. Now if Nike endorse an Iwobi Chukwueze and Osimhen with millions of €€££ how many people on Nigeria will buy Nike football boots. ❓ Thats why they dont pay players with an African identity huge amounts. Because we simply don't have the market demand in Africa. However, there are players who both identities that's African and European. Like Drogba and even Zaha. But the European identity gives them more value for lucrative endorsements. Finally, New Balance endorse Mane but it's not huge. |
chucs:What point have you made exactly. Forgive me but l don't get it to be honest. |
Eartquake1:No I have not. The issue is comparison. Look at the forward players that Belguim have established and proven at the highest level. Lukaku arguably one of the best strikers in the world and very consistent. So in comparison to De Brunya, Hazard, Origi, Batshuayi he is simply not in the reckoning. How many games did he play for Belguim youth at U17, U21, etc ❓ That tells you something too. |
Eartquake1:By what unit of measurement. The Eredivisie is considerably lower than La Liga, EPL and Bundesliga. You cannot equate perfomances in the Eredivisie with the top leagues in Europe. Finally, look at the Belguim national team the vast majority of thier players do not play in Belgium. He is not on the same level of Origi or Batshuayi to name just a few. |
Humility017:This shows that you have no moral compass. No wonder you find it so difficult to understand and appreciate where l am coming from. |
ILLICITblood:It is not wise to argue with a person when you have no facts, no substantive data, no analytics on your argument and no circumstantial probability. Otherwise you will fail comprehensively. LOL |
ChrisKels:If you make assertion it's not for us to substantiate it for you. You should present the facts to underpin your position not us. So how did you come to that conclusion by yourself❓ Consider Forgiveness learn from him if he makes an asserting or point he backs it up with figures and substantive references. He just doesn't say " because I said so " Enrich the the discourse with analytical approach let's all learn. Please school me. |
ChrisKels:Very simple look at his career progression from Charlton to Arsenal youth and non league over the years. Remember my quality proposition. Make sure you are the stand out player in your club and league. Rotherham played the second highest number of long balls in the Championship last season. They played a quintessential Kick and rush football style . In that team he stood out even his physical presence was clearly above everybody else in the team. He wasn't playing on the deck skilful football in Rotherham. I wasn't impressed there was nothing to be impressed about. Particularly when you compated him to Fikayo Tomori at the time. I didn't see anything that showed poise in that team. They were relegated and he stood out and didn't go down with them. WBA have a great manager that plays good quality technical on the deck football. That's the style and that's what he has been playing. WBA arguably have some of the best quality players in the Championship. Many with EPL experience. As a consequence he is IMPROVING. I have one question mark about him, PACE and recover otherwise everything is OK. I expect them to be promoted automatically to the EPL next season and to win the Championship. I watched the Brazilian game and he came unstuck a few times. He is good on the ball but not excellent. But then which of our defenders are. |
Blueelf:That's a very subjective question ❓ Who is the best defenders in the world? Is it the most expensive? most assists, etc It's not so simplistic in this regard, I can not say to you conclusively who is the best CB in the Championship now. However, at the end of the season accolades are given by the league as to who is the best in different positions. What we can say conclusive is that a player is among the top defenders. You can sum it up with MOTM awards which defender got the most, or performance stats. However. I will say conclusively that Iorfa undoubtedly among the top performing defenders in the Championship. |
TheGoodJoe:Ravel is a waste man highly indisciplined and without any sense of focus. I guess the party lifestyle has derailed him. |
tbaba1234:Arsenal is tongue in cheek it's to highlight the issue. What month did Ajayi win Championship player of the month in 2019. He is still outstanding for club and league. That's not say Ajayi isn't both of them are. Even Adarabioyo is starting to show some promise too at Blackburn. |
charlesemeka85:I have already expressed my view. However, l think there is too much attention on Eberechi. Right now I really could not say who is better between them Eze or Oviemuno. And going further put Iwobi in Reading or QPR and let's see how he will excel. I am not convinced that Iwobi is clearly better than the both of them. Everton are facing relegation in the face and it's not looking good. Let's see who the new manager will be. |
Humility017:That's hypocrisy, bigotry and double standard . Imagine we could test all our youth national players. With an offer of a change of allegiance to England, Germany, France, USA, etc resulting in a very lucrative football contract and nationality of these countries. Tell what % do you think will opt to remain in Nigeria and playing in the NPFL for peanuts. That proposition is simply birthed from a very parochial and biased view. So what is LOYALTY and ALLEGIANCE in the Nigerian context. Do you know the % of technocrats from Nigeria in the UK that have changed Nationality by choice. Then pledged allegiance to the Queen are they now traitors according to you. How many people on this thread given the option to denounce Nigeria and accept USA for a better life will actually do it. Sorry you have a very superficial approach to most things no depth. |
Blueelf:What is right and what is wrong are not so easily established sometimes. What may seem right in one context could be considered wrong in another. Maybe the problem is that you have failed to prove me wrong on the subject, discourse in contention. That's your handicap not mine. And I am not that conceited to think I am infallible that would be extremely delusional. |
ILLICITblood:I don't know, you tell me. But being star players for Liverpool they should be quite lucrative. However, l know that Mane is sponsored by New Balance and from speaking to thier reps l know they don't pay huge amounts of money. Should l talk about Dele Alli instead he has lucrative endorsements with Adidas too. What the sports manufacturers look at is your global foot print and market influence by way of your brand. In this regard Drogba had a very lucrative endorsement with NIKE. But then he was not just an African star but a world wide one. |
