Story. So when Babawo Mohammed saw Mikel on the street playing and believed he found the best player in the country, that was not a great talent.

At that time Mikel was not nurtured in anyway. As soon as Eguavoen saw him, he was convinced. As soon as Alex Ferguson saw him, he saw brilliance.

Mbok, there is great talent.
So when he was at the Pepsi academy for how many years, he was eating puff puff and watching Netflix abe ❓❓❓

Then he left to Lyn and he was eating fish and chips and not developing his talent.

He unearthed a great potential quality player that needed to be developed.

Go and check that Adidas dossier, many of those kids turned out crap and are playing in conference League and less. It is not a recipe for success. With all their lessons, many kids in Africa will end up better than them.

Not knocking the system but saying missing out on such system does not mean end of success.
It really depends on what you mean by success.

I can assure you more than 75% are professional players across Europe . That dossier has the creme de la creme of top potential players in Europe.

You may find there are only 3/4 players on that dossier in some EPL clubs and some have none.

You are making wild assumptions not based on experience of engagement but what, I really don't know.

Las Las, you can find great talents outside the fancy academies in Europe.
No talent is great .

Talent not nurtured developed encouraged, tutored, will amount to NOTHING.

Talent is potential waiting to be realised.

You make good points but the elephant in the room is that once the local players show real quality, they are snapped up and become foreign players. What then happens?
This is at the heart of the matter and it goes way beyond football.

The political structure and framework has disenfranchised a whole nation making oldvand young hopeless and desperately desperate.

Peopl have no faith in their nation, apart from footballers nearly everyone wants to JAKPA.

Players will rather play in Azerbaijan than Nigeria.

Until we sort out our problems the situation will continue ad infinitum.

We are in a country where a graduate after borrowing and struggling to finish university can earn in a job 50k a month. Why will he not be corrupt.

Our draw back is not talent but footballing structure. Neymar for instance became a world star playing for Santos in Brazil. He was a star of South America for five years before leaving.

Brazil has a strong support system and international repertoire to build their talents.

Ravel Morrison was a brilliant talent in Manchester United but fell along the way and Pogba became a Superstar. From your ideology, Ravel Morrison was overage. undecided
Ravel Morrison had outstanding ability and talent but a destructive attitude and ended up achieving less than 5% of his potential.

Waste Man ♂️ partying and drinking following babes etc

Guardiola use to ban youth players and or at least frown at it very strongly as a huge distraction that can lead to failure.

There is no change of narrative. It is a fact. We have exceptional talents. We need to find them and nurture them. Give them the exposure and they can grow from there.

Not because they are not kids in fancy academies, mean their lives are over. With dedication, hard work and willingness to learn, they can grow.

With a better structured coaching system, genuine talents can flourish like Yaya Toure who was not in any fancy academy as a kid but better than most midfielders in England that grew in fancy academies.
The academy he went to in Cote d'Ivoire has world renowned reputation it wasn't some backstreet academy. The list of graduates is stupendously is impressive.

I clearly stated give us the names and you are going about subtle attacks. List the names let us review.
I would have to literally give you hundreds of names.

I was talking with Adidas and they have a dossier of hundreds of players from age 13 , across Europe who they think are going to be the future stars.

That dossier had Jude Billingham at 13 on there books.

It's very comprehensive and you have multiple people involved in players assessment, who watch them at games and you want me to give you a list.

That is something the NFF should be doing.

But some will feel it's excluding the local boys in Nigeria and giving advantage to then over local boys .

Despite that, kids with poor facilities and poor primary coaching won the U17. Osimhen did not have that primary De la creme coaching but he is flying higher than many with far better coaching.

A difficult start does not mean you can not become great.

Mane did not grow in some fancy academy and became one of the best players in the Premier League over many players that grew in first grade academies.
You are changing the narrative and the goal posts. You me at go to a very poor quality school with poor quality teachers and somehow come out with the best result and get to Oxford.

There will always be exceptions no matter how bad the circumstances, with God absolutely anything is possible, God still does Miracles.

But we are not talking about the exceptions but the general rule. You will not plant corn and harvest Yam.

You cannot use th exceptions to determine the rule.

I visited an academy in D-Line Port Harcourt, at Igbokwu Street. The coach was with some kids and said something to the kids that touched me.

Oyinbo children have everything. They have eaten well. They go to good schools. They are not lacking. They have full kits and facility. They are ahead of you. The only thing you have is training. Do not play with it. Take it seriously and it can change your lives.
If your facilities are poor
If your coaches are poorly educated and trained
If your players lack basic kit
If you have no sports scientists to create individual player enhancement programs.
If you have old fashioned coaches relying on knowledge of decades ago.

Unfortunately your training will be poor and so also the quality of your players
A man reaps what he sows, you plant corn and you want to harvest yam.

I'm sorry it's not happening.

What Nigerian youth players have in abundance is NATURAL TALENT and at youth level your athleticism, speed, physicality will win you games but not necessarily the marathon of football ⚽ progression.

Even those particular attributes will be strongly challenged by the youthful Africans in the European diaspora.

I was at a youth football tournament around Lagos 3/4 weeks ago. I watched PSG in particular all the player's 95% were completely black born in Paris but with origins in Senegal and Mali. The defensive line of PSG had boys who were over 6ft tall and physical they could easily play U21 at 14. Compared to other boys they were like giants.

There is a boy l saw in Juventus looks top quality his parents are from Benin.

Look at your list and tell me the midfielder there that is gifted at keeping the ball and passing intelligently. Also give us the names of the players we should invite in the top clubs we do not know.

The point is, we do not have enough pool of players in top clubs. We have to measure up with comprehensive scouting for hidden gems to complement what we have.
Yes we do across Europe, if you cannot out of your parochial obsession with past glories and not the present continuous, see them that's your problem.

Let me repeat it again, over reliance on players plying their trades in foreign countries is killing Super Eagles.

Most of them are average and not better than the local players. We may not appreciate local players anymore because we are not following the league.

It's easier to build a formidable team with local players than foreign based players. Assemble them, get them trained together at least twice in a Month. Drop the weak ones until the right players with right mentality make up the squad.

Add few determined foreign based players and watch them light up the continent. Last time I enjoyed watching our games has lost in my memory.

We keep hailing them, calling them all sorts of great names to what end? Serving us breakfast?!
Please wake up from your slumber it's not going to happen.

Your nostalgia for a time long lost is irrational it's not going to work. It's like you are stuck in DOS operating system when we have moved on to Windows 11.

You cannot replace quality for subjective ideas of commitment, loyalty and mentality. If you select .

LOYALTY without QUALITY will lead to MEDIOCRITY

The truth is a fact that the last two U17 players we carried were really young, passed the MRI, did not go to top quality academies but won it.
I've told you before that MRI is indicative of age not conclusive. And you can still be 21 and pass through as a U17.

There are many variables that affect bone fusion, race, nutrition, environmental factors that can delay bone fusion in teenager ( stunted growth)

But pushing that aside for all our dominance at youth level how many of our players have had commensurate dominance in their professional careers.

We couldn't even qualify for the world cup.

Youth football just like talent is indicative and far from conclusive. It identifies potential that has to be developed and nurtured into the next generation of top quality football players.

In 2009 we hosted the U17 world cup with a group of Uncles including Omeruo. We got to the final almost winning it, we were the defending champions.

Brazil didn't get very far , but in that anonymous team were Alison, Neymar, Casemiro and Coutinho undoubtedly world class players.

But where did our outstanding set of all beaters get to , how far did they get , most are close to retirement or completely out of football from mediocre league and at the grand old age of 30.

It's pretty obvious what's happening.

We have scouted comprehensively and continue to do so. Our under 17 and 20 are current WAFU Champions. The two teams that will play in the final tomorrow took players playing in the top leagues. Tomorrow the best player won't be someone playing in division 2 or non league football somewhere. It would be someone playing in Laliga or the French league. Chukweze, Oshimen, Simon, Onachu, Onyedika, Onyeka, Sanusi, Awoniyi, Dennis, Moffi, Iheanacho, Success. and many more were scouted too. So I don't understand your point?
Dude please everyone here knows what happens it's ingrained it's part of the delivery structure and framework.

We have been fielding Uncles for donkey years age cheating is part of our DNA from top to bottom.

We have a president and an Presidential aspirants who we don't really know their true ages.

I have been to several academies in Nigeria and the question given to me is not how old they are. But rather how old or young do you want them to be.

We come from different spheres of life and must have different views. Your own area is known because of so much media coverage.

However, in Nigeria, we do not have the facilities like the Europeans but for instance, in the U17, we have done better than lots of Europwa teams with far better development facilities.

I am not saying the facilities are not important. What I am saying is that despite the lack, we need to find away to measure up.
Nwokem BEECO let's not pretend ,say the truth and shame the devil.

For years past and present we have been carrying Uncles to go and play with small children from Europe. And you are saying we have done better.

Where did it get us too 90% end up in obscure low quality league with linited shelf life as football age starts to show.

Crossing the ball as a Midfielder hmm do your mean winger.

Or a midfielder who can do pin point accurate cross field long passes, is that what you mean.

That for most EPL academy boys is an essential requirement it's not an outstanding achievement or attribute. That is at age 14 and even younger.

Osayi has been playing in the retirement league after turning down options in the EPL.

Now he is generating interest among EPL clubs why because he is outstanding.

For those other players who have become permanent residents in the Turkish league it's pretty obvious they are not good quality.

Every league he has played in he has been essentially basic to below average then you want to convince me that he gets to national team and then he becomes Van Dyke.

There is a reason he is playing in the lowly Croatia league he is simply not good enough for a better league.

That is why it boils down to comprehensive scouting. We need to develop a thorough way to search and pick players with the right attributes.

We also need to take our age grade programs more seriously. Stop cutting corners.

Good Footballers are not only in the quality leagues in Europe.

We need to appreciate Keshi's mindset, where the likes of Oboabona and a young Omeruo helped us clinch the AFCON.

We need to remember how Keshi scouted Aaron Samuel from China.

However, it has to do with the scouting team having the eye to site gems. Just like Westerhof saw Amokachi playing for Ranchers Bees as a 16 years old and new he found a quality talent.

How Babawo Mohammed saw Mikel playing on the street and took him to Kashimawo Laloko and Laloko called Mikel (a teenager in secondary school) the best player in the country.

We need to scout comprehensively and not wait for players to breakthrough in clubs in Europe.
There are always exceptions to the rule, such as JJay , Mikel Obi. But they are not the rule but exception.

Morocco succeeded beyond all expectations because they welcomed in players of Moroccon heritage from across Europe.

They gave them a sense of belonging they didn't ask them for Bribe and inducement. Mbappe tried to play for Cameroon but they wanted inducement. That disappointed experience turned out to be a huge blessing in disguise.

If you go right back maybe 4/5 seasons ago ,l talked about my friend Michael Beale, he was the u12 development lead at Liverpool FC academy. He was formerly the assistant manager at Sao Paulo Brazil. Before he took up that position.

Why would a club invest so much resources in youth football. Without development talent will come to NOTHING.

After the age of 13 it becomes very difficult to teach and ingrain naturally technical skills, First touch, key movements, anticipation, dribbling, passing range, etc, etc

If you think that what happened in the past in Nigeria you can replicate it for competitive advantage now. Then you are out of touch with reality.

If I took you to see some of the current U12/13 players in Chelsea, you go open mouth . Without that level of good quality coaching your talent will not develop.

The only reason Ebere Eze may make a u-turn and decide to play for us is because he knows that his chances of making the english team are next to nothing

There's no loyalty in that and TBH, I am wary of such players
What's loyalty got to do with it ❓

What is this LOYALTY, we talking about ❓❓,is it a PATRIOTIC sense of duty , what does it mean ❓❓❓

For instance 95% of our political leaders are loyal to themselves and consider self interest over national interest. We have President who almost took up permanent residence in the UK , Presidential candidates with principal residence in Dubai along with the current presidents wife.

We have the highest paid legislators in the entire world. Yet we are poverty striken. And they are loyal honourable Nigerians.

If Nigerian born players could change allegiance to other countries how many would do so ❓❓

Commitment to excellence is the issue, and you can only do that with quality. Commitment to loyalty without quality is equal to MEDIOCRITY.

It's simplistic.
