This is a bag of unprocessed Rice. It is 100kg. Each bag is 100k. If a farmer makes 10 bags, he is already a millionaire. Some farmers make close to 100 bags.

Farmers do not always farm one crop. They farm varieties of crops. A bag of dry ginger is over 600k now. A farmer with just 2 bags of ginger is already a millionaire.

Na you dey see million like big money. Small Boys for my village no dey see am as anything. Cause they make more money via farming
Insightful.

Omonigeriarere:
Can you please provide the evidence that Buhari actually said this?
@Omonigeriarere

Let me come in to add more clarity here. As a multilingual person myself, I can confirm indeed that Buhari made that harmless interview statement, which is simply a harmless Hausa language proverb. I wonder why since the early 2010s, leading up to the 2015 Presidential elections, these people have shamelessly continued to spin that interview statement around for cheap political gains or due to hate for Buhari, (and I must say that there were actions and inactions taken by former President Buhari especially with the handling of the foreign Fulani killer herders situation which clearly angered a lot of people over there in Nigeria).

"Biri Jini, Kare Jini" [meaning "the blood of the Baboon and Dog"] is a totally HARMLESS Hausa proverb used in everyday speech by the young and old alike. "Jini in Hausa means blood, biri means baboon, Kare means dog." The Hausa proverb simply means that "a project OR a contest is going to be TOUGH" and NOT that there is going to be an actual bloodshed with knives and gunshots. Is it too difficult for some of these people to understand and respect other people's linguistic cultures and way of speech?

The Yorubas, Edos, Ijaw, Igala, Ebira, Idoma, Tivs, Efik, Efut, Kwa, Ibibio, Bachama, Angas, Kanuri folks and the rest of the 250 distinct Nigerian ethnic groups ALL have distinct proverbs and more metaphors they use in everyday speech as well that should NOT be taken literally BUT decoded to convey the real meanings. For instance when the Yoruba folks say the popular proverb "Iroko ti wo" it means in English language that "an Iroko tree has fallen." This proverb simply means that "a great and dependable person either male Or female has passed on or died." Period. It doesn't mean that the person that died is actually a tall Iroko tree in real life. Iroko here is used simply as a METAPHOR.

I hope that adds more clarity for you (and you can read my post directly above this post as well to correct the deliberate disinformation being passed around by bigots surrounding that totally harmless Hausa proverb).

Indeed, as a multilingual person myself, Buhari made reference to that harmless proverb in an actual interview, but you non-Hausa language speakers have intentionally turned that totally harmless Hausa proverb into an irresponsible propaganda tool since the early 2010s for political disinformation purposes!

"Biri Jini, Kare Jini" [meaning "the blood of the Baboon and Dog"] is a totally HARMLESS Hausa proverb used in everyday speech by the young and old alike. How you people turned a totally "harmless Hausa proverb" used in everyday speech by everyone into a propaganda tool used largely by the PDP members against the APC towards the 2015 Presidential elections is really baffling. I have been a member or NL since 2005 (20 years now) and I still remember that many folks who speak fluent Hausa language right here on NL corrected you people in 2014 right into 2015 about the real meaning of the "Biri Jini, Kare jini" Hausa proverb, but you have continued to spread this irresponsible DISINFORMATION! It has to STOP.

Rhieno Mockery just opens his Mouth, anyhow. Like some people have opined, he may be exhibiting symptoms of schizophrenia and mental disorder.

I am of the opinion that if he were in his right senses, and assuming he knows the meaning, he would never used the word "quisling", for the Person in the stature of Prof. Yemi Osinbajo. (Law Professor, SAN, former Vice President of Nigeria!)

I wonder what his Children think of him or maybe the filthy lucre he brings home to them, have eroded their brains, as well?

But then, if l remember that this is the same shameless person who carried a bullhorn in front of Chatham House in the UK, and was shouting that Bola Ahmed Tinubu isa Drug Pusher, a certificate forger and repeatedly called him "Tinubu, Oole" (Tinubu, Thief) and the Video is still on the internet, to be available for many generations to come, then one can say he is acting true to type
@FireTheSun

Indeed, a large aspect of your post resonates with me.

Here's my candid opinion because I'm well-read with a vast body of knowledge going back to decades of personal experience. I know Reno Omokri can be a brilliant and highly articulate UK-educated lawyer (when he's in his right elements giving out CLEAR FACTS and accurate references, BUT I can see that he occasionally has a mental breakdown due to brain fatigue OR a lack of rest due to a tight schedule OR even a bad case of schizophrenia like you indicated). I know that the body's normal  Circadian Rhythm can mess with our bodies if proper rest isn't adhered to at night. But he's still way BETTER in terms of consistency than the delusional Nasir El-Rufai and that overated young son of his (who rambles on online making highly irresponsible, unguarded posts online justifying the killings of folks in Southern Kaduna and other places by his migrant Fulani herder kinsmen from foreign West African countries).

Second, the British-born Reno is an investor in the global financial markets with a very deep knowledge of financial literacy (in addition to being a lawyer) so, he is rich and doesn't make filthy lucre or illicit money, I know this because I follow Reno on IG and YouTube, BUT if I notice something totally off OR odd about someone, I will NEVER spare that person with my "constructive criticism" including Reno.

Third, I follow Ifedayo Olarinde (Freeze) on IG as well and he had an online interview where Reno completely and embarrassing muddled up historical facts on the reasons why certain parts (or states) of Yorubaland are predominantly Muslims than other parts. I clearly saw him rambling on while muddling well-documented historical facts from the 1800s (from British sources and the highly educated, elite Yoruba missionaries who lived in the 1800s) with "his eyes looking abnormally wide open and looking glazed in that online video interview). It was clear that he was either experiencing mental fatigue OR had a brief spell of schizophrenia.

Referencing Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, as a "quisling" in that post is totally off, and if Reno has "any iota of right from wrong" left in him, then he has to apologize to Osinbajo and learn to ALWAYS sit on his hands if he has NOTHING to say OR he is experiencing a case of "writers block."

Last but not least, Reno Omokri (whose Urhobo father was a senior legal practitioner and his mother is an Itsekiri from the Itsekiri Royal family lineage) has" long acknowledged" that his accusations (including the protest he had on video directly in front of Chatham House in London) claiming that the current President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria is a drug baron, certificate forger, and an "Oole" are totally WRONG because he acknowledged that he carried out his own private investigations which CLEARLY shows that as of today, Bola Tinubu has NO criminal records in the "United States Central crimes database," it's critical for people to ALWAYS stand for the truth as-and-when due. The ability to correct yourself and apologize for blunders made through deeply harmful words and actions when defaming OR tarnishing the image of others is key as well.

Even when herdsmen killed Mrs Funke Olakunrin, daughter of the leader of the apex Lukumi-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasorantin, Asiwaju remained steadfast in his support for General Buhari.

And when he was slapped in the face by the Quisling, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who bit the finger that fed him and challenged the big masquerade that made him, Asiwaju did not blame General Buhari.

Since becoming President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not uttered one word of criticism against his predecessor, even though there were sordid revelations that would have caused another leader to question the preceding government.

Therefore, it is appropriate that President Buhari cast his lot with the incumbent President rather than with a man who President Obasanjo described as having "an inability to be loyal to anybody or any issue consistently for long, but only to Nasir el-Rufai."

I was wrong about General Buhari. He can be honourable and has demonstrated the courage of his convictions. If he had thrown his weight behind Nasir el-Rufai, it would have given that payer of killer herdsmen the ability to be a thorn in the flesh of the Tinubu administration.

BusinessRe: MTN Nigeria Joins Firms Relocating Headquarters To Eko Atlantic by Konquest: 7:00am On Mar 14, 2025
Great100000:
MTN Nigeria, the country’s largest mobile network operator, is building its new headquarters in Eko Atlantic, joining a growing list of large firms relocating to the 10-square-kilometer city, including First Bank and Dangote Group. The United States Embassy is also developing a new diplomatic facility in Eko Atlantic, drawn by its promise of high-end infrastructure, modern office spaces, and a well-planned city layout.

MTN Nigeria CEO Karl Toriola confirmed on Wednesday that the company’s new headquarters will be situated in Eko Atlantic, four years after first announcing plans to build a new head office. MTN is the first telecom operator to build in the coastal city, signaling confidence in its potential as one of the premier business hubs in Nigeria.

“Beyond connectivity, we are committed to making long-term investments in Lagos. As part of this commitment, we have acquired a piece of land in Eko Atlantic City, and we will commence construction once we have gotten the equipment,” Toriola said at the MyLagosApp launch event in Lagos.

Eko Atlantic City was launched in 2008, with land reclamation starting the same year. Located next to Victoria Island, Lagos’ main business district, it aims to become the city’s most advanced commercial hub. With its modern infrastructure and strategic location, Eko Atlantic is attracting corporations, real estate investors, and high-profile organizations looking for a well-planned business environment.

Toriola did not disclose the construction cost, but sources familiar with the matter estimate it to be in the millions of dollars. Land prices in Eko Atlantic City—divided into three phases— vary based on size, location, and intended use. Phases 1 and 2, designated for mid- to high-rise developments, have plot sizes starting at approximately 2,200 square meters with a starting price of $1,150 per square meter. Phase 3, intended for low-rise residential houses with plot sizes starting at around 1,200 square meters, is priced at $1,050 per square meter.

Additional costs such as agency and administrative fees can increase the total price per square meter. For instance, a 3,336 square-meter plot was listed on propertypro.ng for ₦5 billion, translating to about $1,200 per square meter.

MTN Nigeria is also constructing West Africa’s largest Tier 4 data center in Lagos. The facility will house 1,500 racks and operate as a carrier-neutral hub, allowing multiple Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and cloud service providers to interconnect. Toriola also confirmed to TechCabal that the data center will not be situated within Eko Atlantic but on the Lagos mainland.

“With seven degrees of connectivity, this facility will be the most sophisticated data hub in the region, further strengthening Nigeria’s position as a leader in digital transformation,” Toriola said.

Source: https://techcabal.com/2025/03/13/mtn-nigeria-joins-big-firms-relocating/
That's an impressive move from Karl Toriola. A lot of high-networth corporations are gradually moving to Eko Atlantic City (including the United States Embassy which has already started construction).

For those who are not aware, the location of Eko Atlantic City was solid ground decades back going to 50 years ago, but the raging Atlantic Ocean and rising waters due to the melting of the North Pole as a result of global warming gradually swallowed the original oceanfront land and horrendous yearly floods overwhelmed Victoria Island back in the late 1990s right into the 2000s.

The foresight and sagacity of the former Governor of Lagos now President Tinubu saw him going into a PPP with Chagoury Group to reclaim the original land that had been lost to the ocean using advanced technology to simply dredge sand from the ocean floor right back to the land and a sea wall was also built.
Former President Bill Clinton of the United States was at Eko Atlantic City to officially launch the new city with others.

Indeed, knowing how endangered the Bar Beach and the entire Victoria Island were back in the day, and seeing how the very heavy yearly ocean water floodings on Victoria Island have since stopped, I give big props to everyone who made Eko Atlantic City happen.

In an interview with Edward Obilo, Sam Omatseye said that some northern governors went to meet Buhari after Atiku was chosen as the flagbearer of PDP.

They told Buhari that no candidate from the south could defeat Atiku. So Buhari asked for their suggestion. They said it is preferable to get a candidate from the north. Buhari asked them to consult and report to him on their recommendations.

They brought a list of northern names to Buhari. They listed themselves as possible successors. Buhari said he had heard. He kept it close to his chest.

Apparently, El Rufai was not one of the governors. He felt miffed that he was left out of the scheme and decided that the presidency should go to the south. I think he felt that since those other northern governors wanted to scheme him out, he'd scheme them out too.

El Rufai admitted he did not support Tinubu but only did so when he emerged candidate of the party. As if he had a choice.

Over the years, El Rufai has been consistent in his controversies. He'd cause problems in SDP.

Young woman, there's nothing Elrufai did for Tinubu that Tinubu has not done ten times of it for Buhari. Let me enlighten you, Elrufai came into Tinubu's camp as an afterthought, he never supported Tinubu from the get go. Elrufai had his own candidate. The Majority of Northern Governors were with Tinubu which handicapped Elrufai to make a detour into Tinubu's camp. During the APC Primaries, Elrufai's delegates voted for Amaechi as he had ordered them. His romanticizing with Tinubu started after the primaries when his choice candidate, Ameachi lost.

Elrufai lacks the demeanor to play this political game, he's too unstable, emotional and predictable. When Oshiomhole was removed as APC Chairman through a coup, he remained calm and kept working for his party, never coming out to throw them under the bus. The perseverance finally paid off, Oshiomhole is back to the top still on the platform of APC. Elrufai refused to learn and I wish him good luck.

The day Elrufai lay his hands on Federal power that is when the rest of Nigeria will see the true venomous viper that he is. For now good luck to those following him and his SDP coalition.
Indeed, that boy and his father are real sociopaths who lack a sense of empathy for others in most of their verbal comments and brash online posts and actions while he was the Kaduna State Governor. A lot of unsuspecting people get beguiled by the sophistry of Nasir whenever he speaks to the media in interviews, but those of us who understand deep human psychology can see right through his sophistry and smooth talk as a largely insincere person and vile person with his son. That's a FACT!

I once saw an interview he had on Channels Television and he confessed that his Fulani ancestor migrated to Nigeria originally from Guinea in West Africa after the Fulani jihad. So, a lot of these Fulanis who are NOT more than 25 million in the entire West Africa keep jumping from one country to another claiming to be citizens of those countries whenever it suits them.

Those Fulani herders this boy referred to in his X post as "indigenous Fulani" of Kaduna are NOT from Nigeria as revealed in 2017 by his own father in a video that is still on YouTube from Channels Television, but they are killer foreign Fulani herders from Mali, Niger, Cameroon, etc, who migrate into Nigeria based off of the ECOWAS treaty.

PoliticsRe: Bashir El-rufai Apologises Over Tweet Supporting Southern Kaduna Killings by Konquest: 5:43pm On Mar 13, 2025
Maxymilliano:
Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has issued an apology after his incendiary comment on X (formerly Twitter) triggered widespread condemnation.

Bashir, known for his brash social media presence, had posted a controversial remark suggesting that the killings in Southern Kaduna would persist if residents continued to attack Fulani herdsmen.

“It is your stupid mother that is an elephant. And Southern Kaduna residents will keep seeing sheghe (trouble or suffering) if they continue to attack indigenous Fulani herdsmen. Oloshi,” Bashir wrote in response to an X user, @qykali, who had accused his father of overseeing “industrial-scale ethnic cleansing” in the region during his tenure as governor.

The term sheghe (shege)—a Hausa slang implying severe suffering—was perceived as an endorsement of violence, igniting outrage from many Nigerians who saw it as an attempt to justify the recurring massacres in Southern Kaduna, where suspected herdsmen have repeatedly attacked communities.

Following the backlash, Bashir deleted the tweet and later offered an apology, admitting that his initial post was “in bad taste.”

“My tweet about Southern Kaduna residents & persecuted Fulani herdsmen was in bad taste & also badly written in an attempt to make a point in the heat of the moment. I apologize for that to those that know me, and are aware that I don’t harbor such sentiments,” he wrote on X.

However, critics remain skeptical of his apology, accusing him of walking back his statement only after facing public outrage.

“You are true son of your father, Nigeria would have been disappointed if you do otherwise. Just hatred for certain religion. God will punish you,” an X user, Iyiola Babalola told Bashir.

“You are supposed to be in jail by now,” another user, Uncle Floyd added.

Bashir’s latest controversy comes amid growing speculation about political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.

Recently, he fuelled discussions about the future of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, hinting that Obi might join the Social Democratic Party (SDP) following his father’s defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Responding to an X user who suggested the SDP would struggle against the APC unless Obi joined, Bashir cryptically replied: “He is coming.”

The remark has intensified speculation about an alliance between Obi and the SDP, especially after Nasir El-Rufai’s dramatic exit from the APC.

Nasir El-Rufai, once a powerful APC figure, resigned from the party in a letter dated March 10, 2025, accusing it of straying from its founding principles.

“Developments in the last two years confirm that there is no desire on the part of those who currently control and run the APC to acknowledge, much less address, the unhealthy situation of the party,” he wrote.

El-Rufai’s son deletes post threatening bloodshed against Nigerian Christians in Southern Kaduna.

Bashir, one of the sons of a former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai, in a now deleted tweet, threatened increased bloodshed in the Christian-dominated Southern Kaduna if the people continue to attack Fulani.

Mr El-Rufai tweeted this on Tuesday in response to an X user, @qykali, who berated his father, accusing him of supervising ethnic cleansing of Southern Kaduna people for eight years as Kaduna State governor.

“Look at this Giraffe neck calling the president Pablo whereas your midget dad is a Fulani irredentist who engaged in industrial scale ethnic cleansing of people of southern Kaduna for the eight years he was Governor,” @qykali tweeted,

Triggered by @qykali’s tweet, Mr El-Rufai responded saying, “It is your stupid mother that is an elephant. And Southern Kaduna residents will keep seeing shege if they continue to attack indigenous Fulani herdsmen. Oloshi.”

“Shege,” an Hausa word, used by Mr El-Rufai suggested Southern Kaduna, a hotbed of violent killings by Fulani herdsmen and bandits in recent times, will not know peace, a threat many on X condemned, forcing Mr El-Rufai to delete the offensive tweet.

An X user, @EmmyPromise71, said Dear @BashirElRufai, are Southern Kaduna residents not dead enough? To even say that your father hasn’t come out to condemn this senseless comment of yours shows the kind of person he is. WHAT? Like really?”

“If Bashir El Rufai can confidently say this about Southern Kaduna with his full chest. Do you think your people down west or south will be safe from the Fulani herdsmen,” @timmonsion said.

A former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission and critic of Mr El-Rufai, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, in a tweet, said “So, get this: #VileLittleMan, @elrufai, is now officially opposition and his son is already threatening the people of #SouthernKaduna with #MassMurder. Guess what will happen when they get into the @NGRPresident. These people are sociopaths; #Genocidaires.”

This tweet followed another vile and controversial tweet from Mr El-Rufai, who once said the mysterious disappearance of Abubakar ‘Dadiyatta’ Idris, a critic of his father, was a good consequence for lying to the public.

Amid trending #WhereisDadiyatta on X in December 2019, Mr El-Rufai described Nigerians pushing the campaign on X as clowns, claiming that Dadiyatta was suffering for the consequences of lying.

“The same clowns who encouraged him when he was creating false stories and capitalising on lies that could endanger lives solely for political ends are the same individuals trending hashtags asking #WhereisDadiyata. Dangerous lies in the public space have consequences,” Mr El-Rufai said.

I have read a number of posts here where posters questioned if it is possible for anyone to be a millionaire in catfish farming. As someone who has extensive experience in this field, let me share my thoughts.

Catfish business is one business that you must learn the ropes. You must learn every aspect of the business. Everything! You don't do catfish business piece meal. I l learnt the hardway. I lost huge money as a result of not fully knowing the ropes. But that was then.

I do know of someone who in December, generated 21 million naira from a capital input of 6 million naira. He produced and sold close to 300,000 fingerlings. This young man just returned from the United Kingdom where he went to do his masters.

The person I understudied who taught me the ropes in the business generates close to 5 million naira every 6 to 8 weeks. He has a first class in mechanical engineering.

One key thing I picked up from these young farmers is that catfish farming is as much of a science as any other scientific field. They take the time to ensure every parameter is at the ideal range as much as possible. nothing gets left to chance.

It involves a lot of work and dedication but what business that gives millions doesn't? This business is a continual learning process. Your performance is only as good as your knowledge. Fish speak all the time. Learn that language. From the way they swim, eat, float, colouration and all... They speak all the time.

Yes, the capital outlay is huge no doubt. But the rewards are worth it.
Insightful.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has said that the ‘original’ Ijaw people, such as the Kalabaris, kicked against him making Siminalayi Fubara the governor of Rivers State because he is from Opobo.

According to him, he was confronted that if he wants to make someone of Ijaw origin the governor of Rivers, it shouldn’t be someone from Opobo, who are not regarded as real Ijaw people.

Wike said but for his benevolence Fubara stood no chance of ever becoming the governor of Rivers State.

The former Rivers governor stated this during an interview with journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, saying the Ijaw people in Rivers State did not appreciate his kind gesture.

“Out of our own benevolence we allowed it. I said, gentlemen, we are working as a team.

“When people do something to bring everybody together, you appreciate it. In fact, when I bought this governor, they said, no, if you are talking about Ijaws it should come to the Kalabaris if you want to give governor to the Ijaws and not Opobo. You see the problem?

“But you closed your eyes and you did it. All those who fought me, who said, ‘no,’ we can’t accept this, now parade themselves around him, hanging around him, taking his money,” Wike said.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a public alert regarding the activities of 58 companies allegedly operating illegal Ponzi schemes across Nigeria.

In a statement on Tuesday, on its verified Facebook account, the anti-graft agency warned that these companies pose as investment entities but are defrauding unsuspecting Nigerians of their hard-earned money. The EFCC noted that the firms are neither registered with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) nor the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

According to the EFCC, both regulatory bodies confirmed in separate correspondences that the companies lack the required registration to operate as legitimate investment firms.

“The Commission has charged many of these companies to court. Five have already been convicted, another five have pleaded guilty but are awaiting a review of facts, while the rest are pending arraignment,” the EFCC stated.

The EFCC named the following firms among those engaging in illegal financial activities:

Wales Kingdom Capital

The EFCC reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the financial space by closely monitoring economic activities and taking legal action against fraudulent entities. It urged Nigerians to exercise caution before investing in any financial schemes and to verify the legitimacy of investment firms through appropriate regulatory bodies.

The Commission assured the public of its continued vigilance to protect citizens from financial fraud and stimulate growth in Nigeria’s economy.

President Bola Tinubu has addressed the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, revealing his efforts to restore peace both privately and publicly, ThisDay Nigeria reports.

Speaking to leaders of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) on Tuesday in the presidential villa in Abuja, Tinubu said he had foreseen the current situation and urged them to return home and work for peace while upholding the rule of law.

He advised Governor Siminalayi Fubara to implement the recommendations given to him and respect the rule of law, noting that the Supreme Court remains the highest authority in the country. He also called on Niger Delta leaders to support him in achieving this goal.

The president’s remarks came after the Supreme Court upheld Martins Amaewhule as the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

In its ruling delivered on February 28, the Supreme Court ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Accountant General of the Federation, and other financial institutions to withhold funds from the Rivers State government. The court accused the government of “flagrant disobedience” to judicial orders and stated that compliance with the law was necessary before funds could be released.

The decision marked a political setback for Governor Fubara, as the five-member panel of justices unanimously dismissed his cross-appeal challenging the legitimacy of the House of Assembly under Speaker Martins Amaewhule. The ruling affirmed the authority of the 27 lawmakers loyal to former Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Additionally, the Supreme Court nullified the recent local government elections in Rivers State, declaring them invalid due to violations of the Electoral Act.

How many of them are from Lagos?
Lagosians are just slaves. THEY DONT HAVE ANY BALLS OF THEIR OWN

SOMEONE RUNS THEM
Learn to say ONLY what you know. Many indigenes of Lagos State are very wealthy. From Lagos Mainland to Lagos Island and the Ijebu areas of Lagos East, Ibeju-Lekki LGA, Ikorodu LGA, Epe LGA, etc, you will find internationally known and silent USD millionaires, USD multimillionaires, and USD billionaires.

The FIRST EVER Nigerian million in Pounds Sterling and Lagos indigene is the wealthy financier and business mogul, Candido Da Rocha who was born to Yoruba parents in the 1800s in Bahia, Brazil,
but returned with his father in the late 1800s to Lagos Island. He build the famous "Water House" mansion that is a taste of Brazilian architecture. where he lived on Kakawa St., Lagos Island.

Fast forward as of today, 2 indigenes of Lagos State have been listed on the Forbes list of legitimate USD billionaires. This is aside from many wealthy indigenes in various fields.

So, Femi Otedola is an Ijebu and a native of Epe in Lagos State.

Mrs Folorunso Alakija is the ONLY other legit Forbes-listed USD billionaire who is an Ijebu and a native of Ikorodu in Lagos State. She's still on the Forbes list as a USD multimillionaire though.

Not only is it the richest city in West Africa, but this is also the fifth wealthiest city in the whole continent.

One capital city is home to 4,200 millionaires and two billionaires, making it the richest city in West Africa, and the fifth wealthiest city in the whole continent. In this sprawling city, 4,200 residents have over $1million to their name, 12 have more than $100million, and there are two billionaires, according to the Africa Wealth Report 2024 by Henley and Partners.

Lagos, the capital of Nigeria and the most populated city in Africa, is the base for the Nigerian Stock Exchange, and multi-national giants like the Dangote Group, owned by Aliko Dangote - a man estimated to be worth over $23.9billion (£18.8billion). Nearly half of Nigeria's wealthiest live in Lagos, as the country itself has 8,200 millionaires and three billionaires, making it Africa's third wealthiest country, behind South Africa and Egypt. However, in the decade from 2013 to 2023, Lagos' millionaire population shrunk by 48%, the biggest drop seen among all the top 20 cities on the list.

Dominic Volek, group head of private clients at Henley and Partners, said that currency depreciation and underperforming stock markets have "chipped away at Africa’s wealth compared to global benchmarks”.

He added that the Naira currency in Nigeria has dramatically depreciated by over 75% compared to the dollar over the past 10 years.

Head of Research at New World Wealth, Andrew Amoils, commented that African nations are also losing large numbers of HNWIs to migration, leaving for places such as the UAE.

Conversely, the report predicts that expect Cape Town, the Whale Coast, Kigali, Windhoek, Swakopmund, Nairobi, Tangier, and Marrakech will see over 85% millionaire growth in the next decade, to 2033.

It's this sorts of "internal errors" in media publications that get me really pissed off. The errors committed by this journalist here are highly irresponsible and clearly indicate poor research.

First off, Lagos Island (NOT Lagos State) was the administrative capital of Nigeria from 1914 untill 1991 when it ceased to be so... That's a full 34 years ago!

Second, as of 2025, there 4 officially certified Forbes-listed USD billionaires living right in Lagos State. Although Abdusamad Rabiu and Aliko Dangote have there bases in Kano State, both of them have residences in Lagos State in addition to Otunba Michael Adenuga who is an Ijebu fro Ogun State and Femi Otedola who is an Ijebu and a native of Epe in Lagos State.

Mrs Folorunso Alakija is the ONLY other legit Forbes-listed USD billionaire who is an Ijebu and a native of Ikorodu in Lagos State. She's still on the Forbes list as a USD multimillionaire though.
HealthRe: What Is The Main Cause Of Retinal Detachment? by Konquest: 1:33am On Mar 09, 2025
Ishilove:
I personally know someone who went through the laser treatment successfully in 2022 at the Eye Foundation in Ikeja. The cost then was #2.5m and it was covered by HMO Unfortunately, when we spoke again last month, the individual has lost sight completely in that eye. It seems the procedure later reversed itself or so.

cc Kon.quest, in respect to the research as mentioned in the DM, for clarification purposes, I just sent you a proper description of the procedures to your email.
How's it going Ishilove? "Breath in deeply then exhale gently." Good.

I'll give the thrust of my comments here and will be as coded as possible.

First off, what type of eye ailment was that laser surgery you talked about in your post right above used for? I've been aware that since the 2000s some people in the United States and a few places who wanted to correct their shortsightedness ended up having worse eyesights after using laser (LASIK) due to the inexperience or small errors of the personnel involved.

Second, I saw and read the email message and I must commend you for your brilliant actions so far. Incidentally my mother was a senior medical professional before she retired, so, I have empathy for these kinds of situations. I took out time from my schedule to analyze the two attached email docs and realized that indeed, the right and left eyes require cataract surgery BUT the right eye also has retina detachment hence the treatment that is to be used is "Vitrectomy" Surgery which is the standard treatment for that type of eye surgery costing a huge 2.8m out of the total 4.5m. That 2.8m for the right eye only was just loaded up with the lens costing high as well. But the Abj eye center is a reputable one only that the total cost is too high.

NOW, I'm a firm believer in getting a second and even third opinion when it comes to situations like medical surgeries and treatments, hence we are now looking at cost-cutting (but highly effective) variables which exist here and now for those who have an open mind to see behind the curtains.

Third, I want you to "ruthlessly" (because time is of essence) follow up on Rotary Club 9111 and other sister Rotary Clubs. I've always known that they offer free eye surgeries annually in partnership with reputable eye hospitals and corporate establishments. I have faith in Rotary being a highly reputable international organization with highly influential folks and a strong social outreach. Find out about what it takes to apply and in addition to the cataract surgery, find out and impress it on them about the retinal detachment surgery and see if both can be done together.

Then follow up simultaneously on other organizations I've listed right above this post as well such as NNPC partnership with SNEPCo, NNPC Foundation, Samsung Heavy Industries Nigeria (SHIN), and the Kolmarg Eyesight Foundation.

Last but not least, I want you to give me the positive feedback on how it goes, but NO doubt, there will be NO rejections and you will have success. This will hugely shave off the initial cost down from the 4.5m requested in Abj. Since the right and left eyes have "cataract," that can be taken care of by Rotary Club and others mentioned, but, In the event (worse case scenario) that the right eye "retina detachment" cannot be done by Rotary and others, then I assure you that we will see how to raise some funds for that to be done in the Lagos or Abj branches of Skipper Eye-Q, which is a top eye clinic or any one outfit that offers the best cost (without compromising quality). It's easypeasy. So, let's do first things first.

TravelRe: Fuel Price Slash: We Won’t Reduce Fares – Transporters by Konquest: 9:44pm On Mar 08, 2025
zero8zero:
Road transport operators in Nigeria have ruled out the possibility of reducing transport fares as a result of the further cut in the prices of petrol by Dangote Refinery and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

Some of the transporters and leaders of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) told LEADERSHIP Weekend that they would not reduce the fares because of the high cost of vehicle maintenance and other related expenses.

In their competition for a fair share of the market, Dangote Refinery and NNPCL recently reduced the pump price of a litre of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) to N825 and N860 respectively.

When LEADERSHIP Weekend asked some transporters in Kano whether they would reduce fares because of the lower fuel prices, the organising secretary of NURTW, Yushu’a Haruna, said the union had no plans to reduce transport fares because of the reduction of PMS pump price at some filling stations.

He said the reduction in fuel price was very insignificant to push for a cut in transport fares as they still battle to replace or buy spare parts at exorbitant rates.

His National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) counterpart, Ado Inuwa Yakasai, admitted that both Dangote and NNPCL have reduced the prices of fuel per litre but the prices of a new car and spare parts were still on the high side.

He said some years ago, spare parts such as a new tyre cost between N15,000 and N20,000 but sells for N68,000 or more while an engine of a Sharon car is about N1.5 million, which is very expensive for individuals who acquired vehicles on hire purchase basis to cope with.

They both lamented the long queues at the fuel stations where the prices are reduced which most times they are not ready to join in order to meet up with their schedule of trips.

Yakasai said under such conditions, they have no option than buying from fuel stations with higher pump prices. According to them, the only way to reduce fares is when there is a significant reduction in fuel price and the cost of spare parts.

A passenger at the Kano Line bus stop, Dr Aminu Galandanchi, lamented that despite the reduction of fuel price, it had not been reflected on fares which is the natural thing to do.

In Lagos State, the reduction in the price of PMS has not translated to a reduction in transport fares.

Nonsense visit, Musa can consider himself to be one with them from Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger republic, they are components of Songhai empire....but we in the South and middle belts are not ,I still say it the worst form of democratic Government is better than best military Government..this guys military personnel are being taken out by Islamic militants ,the same militants that they accused their various Civilian Government of not doing enough to arm them to defeat them, now they are in charge and nothing has changed..

The sharia council of Nigeria just supported closure of schools during Ramadan..I have never heard those people issue Fatwa against Islamic insurgency..so how will militancy in Sahel stop when now it has turn into a business..the core leaders in the Islamic communities are afraid,Muric can't issue threat on Iswap or boko Haram..nor can NSCIA issue a strong fatwa that any Muslim that kills a boko Haram member is doing honorable killing etc..
Indeed, you are very conversant with history. The Songhai Empire extended in parts of modern Northern Nigeria and Niger Republic. The Mali Empire too had imperial and historical influences on Northern Nigeria. There are some families such as the Kaita family (spelled Keita in Mali) in Northern Nigeria today whose ethnic ancestry is originally Madinka (Malinke or Mandingo) from the Mali Empire but they are Nigerians today.
