CrimeRe: I Produce Fake Wine Because My Master Refused To Settle Me – Suspect by Konquest:
sirlekzy:
35-year-old Chizoba Okafor who was arrested for fake wine production by officers attached to the Edo StatePolice Command, has blamed it all on his master.

The suspect who was paraded by the State’s police commissioner Babatunde Kokumo, was arrested at his one room apartment on Upper Mission Road, Benin after an investigation into the fake wine production.

Speaking to newsmen after his arrest, the suspect who admitted producing fake wines, however disclosed that he turned to the illicit trade because his master refused to ‘settle him’ after serving him for years.
According to him, he would read the contents on any bottle and go to the market to buy them for production.

The police boss who expressed worry about the number of persons that might have fallen ill after consuming the wine, said the suspect will be charged to court after the investigation is concluded.

Bump.

Seven years down the road as of 2025, his criminally-minded ilk are still relentlessly defying the regulatory authorities by producing adulterated fast-moving consumer products.

Kudos to NAFDAC though, they are kicking the back sides of these criminals now aided by the intelligence agencies in covert operations. The ultimate punishment has to kick in to be able to permanently eradicate these crimes. You try this in a more serious country like China or Singapore and you are done for with executions. Period.

reicherMan:
The Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday says it has uncovered a factory where assorted fake wine and fruit juice were produced at Aboru area of Oke-Odo, Lagos.

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Imohimin Edgal, told newsmen, when he visited the factory that the 48-year-old owner of the factory has been arrested.

A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria, who was on the commissioner of police entourage, observed that various assorted wine, fruit juice and empty bottles were recovered from the uncompleted one-storey building which doubles as factory and owner’s residence.

Edgal said that apart from wine products, several chemicals and reagent used for the manufacturing of the products were also recovered by the police.

He said samples of products recovered from the factory would be sent to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control for laboratory analysis.

Edgal said that the house had been sealed until the end of the investigation.

“This matter is an interesting case because it has to do with the health of Lagosians.

“On December 18, 2018, around 2pm, the command received credible information that there exist a fake wine/ brewery in an uncompleted one-storey building at Aboru area of Oke Odo, Lagos, where assorted wine and alcoholic beverages were being produced.

“Based on the information, I directed the Area Commander, Area P, Alagbado, to mobilise to the scene, search and seal off the factory.

“When the team arrived the scene, they executed a search warrant which enabled them to search and recover the following items: 4000 bottles of already produced, packed and labelled adulterated wine of different brands.

“10000 empty bottles, drums of different sizes and various chemicals and reagents used as raw materials and other tools used in the production of fake wine/ fruit drink,” he said

Edgal said further investigation revealed that the suspect, a secondary school dropout, had neither the requisite qualification nor licence to embark on such type of business.

He said that incidentally, the factory served as both production base and residence for the suspect, his wife and four children.

The suspect, in his defence, said he was still awaiting approval from NAFDAC to commence commercial production of the drinks.

He also denied that the drinks were fake, insisting that he produced them basically with local fruits.

“I am a creative minded person and all l do here is the production of fruit-based drinks. I have not started selling because I am yet to get approval from NAFDAC,” he said.

Bump.

Contrary to what the criminal producing fake wines above said, there's absolutely NO way that NAFDAC officials would have approved his illegal facility and given him a license because you are NOT allowed to produce these ingestable consumables such as wines, and fruit juices right where you live with your family members. There has to be a clear demarcation between your residence and production facility. Period.

FAke drugs, just like any other substandard products sold in Nigeria, are sold by every ethnic groups in Nigeria that is involved in drug sales. That includes the igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Edo etc. If there is a preponderance of any ethnic group in this crime, it is because that very ethnic group is more exposed to the business of "trading" in general, and "drug trade" in particular. It has absolutely nothing to do with the ethnic group or groups in question sitting down, having a village meeting and deciding to flood the whole country with fake drugs.. , and this should be very obvious to all, maybe with the exception of our colony of agbadorian daftheads who have to be as daft as they come to qualify to be an agbadorians in the first place.
You are deflecting and made absolutely NO sustainable points in your assertions above based on the official crime statistics available to me for over 35 years now.

I do NOT have the time for mind games here. I make clear assertions based off of verifiable FACTS. Read the direct quote excerpt from Dora Akunyili back in the 2000s right BELOW:

“There were a lot of fights from the political class, they didn’t want him to give me the job because the Minister of Health was Igbo. I am Igbo and MOST of the drug counterfeiters are Igbos,” Akunyili said. “Remember, I am also a woman. But Obasanjo stood his ground and said, ‘No, this is the woman that will do the job’.”

"I AM Igbo and MOST of the drug counterfeiters are IGBOS,” Akunyili said.
=>https://neusroom.com/how-12000-pounds-earned-dora-akunyili-nafdac-dg-job/

As seen in the excerpt directly ABOVE in the "Neusroom" publication, "The Guardian" newspaper of the UK and more, Dora Akunyili herself widely confirmed in the Nigerian and international electronic and print mass media when she was the NAFDAC DG from back in 2001 that some of her own Igbo people are the ones MOSTLY behind the importation, production, distribution and sales of FAKE, EXPIRED and COUNTERFEIT drugs! Let it sink in here... These FACTS are also known from well-documented crime statistics available to me from over 35 years now.

Dora Akunyili (the bold Anambra-born administrator said her sister, Vivian died in 1988 due to fake, counterfeit drugs hence her strong passion) was very blunt and outspoken about her condemnation of these criminals of Igbo origin who used mainly Anambra State, Aba, Idumota, etc, as locations to distribute these FAKE, EXPIRED and COUNTERFEIT drugs with NO genuine NAFDAC numbers to other parts or cities of Nigeria and West Africa thereby causing renal damage, kidney failures and death with unsuspecting buyers picking them up. In December 2003, these criminals tried to kill Dora Akunyili while being driven in her car in Anambra State but the bullet miraculously only grazed her scalp from the back wind screen of her car. Some of her attackers were eventually arrested and charged to court.

There won't be any serious headway until there are repercussions for dealing in fake drugs
Succinctly stated.

Indeed, these include NOT just fake drugs but other counterfeit consumables such as counterfeit wines, counterfeit fruit juice drinks, counterfeit stout and malt drinks (Dead RATS was also found by NAFDAC officials and the Police in one of the reservoirs containing the counterfeit malt drink waiting to be bottled in an illegal Ikorodu brewery in 2018), etc, all slapped with FAKE NAFDAC numbers and concocted under unhealthy environments with contaminated water from leaking pipes! How greedy for quick money can these criminals of South East of Nigeria origin be? And this has gone on for years without serious capital punishments which the current DG of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye is currently calling for now!

There were also two reservoirs, where the finished products were kept, pending when they will be loaded into trucks which take them to different parts of the country.

"Some DEAD RATS and reptiles" were seen floating on the finished products, particularly inside the reservoirs.

You must have seen the NAFDAC videos and mass media videos right BELOW of the dirty production facilities of these highly irresponsible criminals arrested in the Cemetery market in Aba, Egbe-Afa, Igbobo Bayeku area of Ikorodu and in the Ojo area in Lagos State (ALL of them of Igbo South Eastern Nigeria origin), you will immediately STOP buying wines, stout and more from the small retail shops being used to distribute and sell these harmful consumables made from BANNED cancer-causing chemical raw ingredients to unsuspecting consumers. The consumers themselves are also inadvertently creating a sub-market for counterfeits because they RUSH for cheap things, (which isn't totally bad in itself when you want to make price comparisons), BUT you have to ensure that you are buying quantity and certified stuffs NOT killer wines laced with deadly ethanol contaminants. The shopping malls are CLEARLY the best places to order your consumables.

Officials of the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) have seized fake alcoholic drinks worth over ₦180 million in Lagos.

The agency disclosed this in a statement on its X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.

It said the products were intercepted after a raid on a makeshift factory in Oke Arin market, Lagos Island. The operation, NAFDAC stated, followed a complaint about the illegal production of alcoholic beverages.

The products, valued at over ₦180 million, included fake versions of popular brands. The main suspect, Mr. Tochukwu Henry, confessed to refilling bottles labelled as Rémy Martin with ST-Rémy contents and employing two others to assist in the illicit operation.

It seems NAFDAC has woken up after so many years of slumber.

We must commend the DG for her drive and commitment to kick all this fake shiit off the streets. I wonder what all the previous DGs after Mrs Akunyili have been doing.
Ishilove, how's it going?

These sting operations took NAFDAC 1 year of massive undercover planning with the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu and 1,000 security and intelligence personnel.

These guys are clearly very dangerous criminal counterfeit cartels that even Dora Akunyili confessed in the international and Nigerian media back in the 2000s are her own Igbo people (especially domiciled and operating majorly in Anambra, Aba and Idumota), while distributing counterfeit drugs and consumables around Nigerian towns and cities to make quick money. These have led to kidney failures, cancer, and death for unsuspecting folks.

For Dora's forthright actions then in the 2000s, she was nearly killed in 2003 while being driven in a car in Anambra when a bullet hit and grazed her scalp through the back windshield injuring her. If that bullet had come lower, her brains would have been blown out.

Gosh! Leaving all these counterfeit and illicit drugs to get into the public space would have prematurely terminated the lives of unsuspecting and innocent folks through kidney failures, cancers, and eventually death.

Big props to the NAFDAC DG, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye, her entire NAFDAC team and the 1,000 men from the security and intelligence agencies aided by the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu who carried out these major sting operations after 1 year of undercover work.

The criminal cartels that produce counterfeit items such as counterfeit drugs, counterfeit wines, counterfeit malt drinks, and illegal methamphetamine hard drugs productions in laboratories inside mansions and residential areas detected over the last 25 years (as seen in official crime data) by NAFDAC, NDLEA and security agents in places such as Victoria Garden City (VGC in Ajah in 2023), Satellite Town, Ajao Estate, Iba New Site, Ibeju-Lekki all in Lagos State being run by some Anambra State-born criminals pretending to be legitimate Alaba International millionaire traders, and illegal methamphetamine labs being operated by them in Asaba, Nnewi, Ozubulu, Obosi, Ihiala, etc, as widely reported on the crime pages in the media and online must be ruthlessly taken down!

I've always favored the death penalty for decades now for these crimes and the warrior NAFDAC DG, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye is saying exactly the same thing because light prison sentences just DON'T work anywhere in the world! Nigerian lawmakers and State Governors must STOP being enablers of crime and sign the death warrants. They can introduce lethal injections and electric chair executions already in use in the United States, and other developed Asian countries such as Singapore as capital punishments if they are averse to seeing blood. Anybody planning to be a State Governor who doesn't want to sign the death warrants has absolutely NO business contesting elections. Only the former Governor Adams Oshiomole of Edo State had the bravery to do so by signing the death warrants after the courts had sentenced these criminals to death. Period.

He has the mandate for everything he's doing, which makes his job easier and more enjoyable. If he's ready, he knows what to do, Trump’s administration demands a public apology first
What apology are you talking about here?

Zelenskyy NEVER broke any rule(s).

Those of us who have a deep knowledge of geopolitical analysis globally (including many Americans from the Republicans to the Dems and apolitical folks) will instantly let you know (right after watching full video scenes of the horrendous "school boy bullying" in that U.S. Oval Office) that JD Vance and Trump irresponsibly disrespected and bullied a visiting President of Ukraine over a meeting to discuss a deal over Ukraine's mineral rights. That was a diplomatic gaffe and these conversations were not even supposed to be done in front of the media but behind closed doors. It looked completely STAGED to portray Zelenskyy as the bad boy in this war (initiated first by Russia) which he isn't here.

JD Vance was the FIRST to trigger that verbal altercation by frontally accusing Zelenskyy of disrespecting the office of the United States President and never showing appreciation to the United States which are totally false claims. Unless given the permission by a sitting POTUS, a U.S. VP has NO right to interject and talk down on a visiting President like that and I don't care if Ukraine is in ruins or not, Zelenskyy is still the sitting wartime President of Ukraine.

NO doubt, we all want this crazy war in Ukraine to end and Ukraine get rebuilt. Period.

TravelRe: Air Peace Boss, Onyema Hails Ekiti Airport As One Of World’s Best The Chief Ex by Konquest: 7:38pm On Mar 05, 2025
[quote author=AngelGabbyShara post=134253619]Air Peace Boss, Onyema hails Ekiti Airport as one of world’s best

The Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace Limited, Dr Allen Onyema, has lauded the state-of-the-art facilities and operational efficiency of the Ekiti State Agro Allied International Cargo Airport, describing it as one of the best in the world.

Dr Onyema, who landed at the airport on Saturday at about 10am in a Boeng 737, (120 capacity) aircraft, commended the airport’s apron, runway, and terminal building, describing them as “highly functional and aesthetically pleasing”.

Speaking with journalists shortly after landing at the airport, the Air Peace Boss noted that the facility’s readiness for international and domestic flights positions it as a critical infrastructure for the economic and social development of the state and the country at large.

Emphasizing the potentials of the airport, which according to him makes it a strong contender for major aviation activities in Nigeria, Dr Onyema said it is equipped to accommodate even larger aircraft such as Boeing 777.

While assuring the state of his readiness to partner with the airport as soon as it commences commercial operations, Dr Onyeama expressed optimism that the airport would soon serve as a hub for pilgrims and travelers in the country.

“This is the first time Boeing 737 will be coming to this airport and as an Aviator, I can tell you categorically that this is one of the best airports in the world, we should stop neglecting our own.

“When I say one of the best in the world, I mean it because coming in, the pilot was communicating with me and l’m reporting what the pilot said: that this is one of the best runway he has ever seen. So, Boeing 777 can even land in this airport, it is just a matter of time and am sure in no time Ekiti pilgrims might start flying from here because the airport can take Boeing 777”.

“It is a beautiful airport, highly equipped, beautiful and very solid apron, solid runways, nice terminal, and what else can we ask for” Dr Onyema added.

In his own remarks, the Technical Adviser to the Governor on Airport Project, AVM Sunday Makinde (rtd) said the seamless landing of a Boeing 737 is a clear testament to the airport’s readiness for full commercial operation, adding that the milestone demonstrates the airport’s capacity to handle large aircraft and deliver seamless aviation services.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Information, Rt Hon Taiwo Olatunbosun, described the airport project as a transformative project for the state. He said the landing of the Boeing 737 at the airport is a testament to the determination of the state government under the leadership of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, to enhancing infrastructure development for economic growth and connectivity.

BusinessRe: Why The Naira Has Been Making Gains Lately - Zeal Akaraiwe by Konquest: 7:30pm On Mar 05, 2025
ogugwa1992:
Naira Stability Streak Trades At N1490/$1 In Black Market: All You Need To Know

For a while now, "Naira depreciates" hasn’t dominated the headlines, and that’s a reason to celebrate as the Naira is still on a winning streak. On February 27, the Naira flexed its muscles once again, gaining ₦5 to trade at ₦1,490/$1 in the Black Market, compared to last week's ₦1,565/$1. While official figures are yet to be released, this jump is making waves in financial circles.

If you're wondering what’s fueling this unexpected streak, let’s break it down by answering some key questions:

Q: The Naira has been making gains recently. What’s happening?

A: Yes! The Naira has been showing remarkable resilience. As of February 27, it traded at N1,490/$1 in the Black Market—strengthening from last week's N1,565/$1. This steady improvement signals a positive shift in Nigeria’s foreign exchange market.

Q: What’s driving the Naira’s stability?
A: Several key policies initiated by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have contributed to this trend:

- Increased Forex Liquidity: To ease foreign exchange shortages, the CBN has injected significant dollar liquidity into the market. In January 2024, the CBN injected $500 million to clear forex backlogs, improving liquidity and transaction flow. Additionally, in January 2025, the Federal Government cleared a $7 billion forex backlog, making fund repatriation easier for businesses, multinationals, and foreign investors.

-Stronger Diaspora Remittances: The CBN has introduced policies to formalize remittance inflows, such as the introduction of the Non Resident Nigerians BVN, then the Introduction of the Non Resident Nigerian Ordinary Accounts (NRNOA) nd Non Resident Nigerian Investment Accounts (NRNIA). More inflows mean less pressure on the Naira enhancing stability.

- CBN’s Crackdown on Speculation: The CBN has tightened regulations on Bureau de Change (BDC) operators. Under new guidelines, BDCs can only purchase a maximum of $25,000 per week from a single authorized dealer bank. This limits speculation, increases transparency, and curbs artificial dollar demand.

- Policy Reforms & Market Efficiency: In October 2024, the CBN released revised guidelines for the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market, consolidating all FX windows and redefining the roles of market participants. These measures aim to address long-standing inefficiencies and create a transparent, well-regulated system.

Q: How is the foreign exchange market performing now?
A: According to Financial Analyst and quoting Zeal Akaraiwe on Arise Global Business Report on Wednesday February 27th, 2025 “ The CBN is involved in the market but the level of involvement has reduced so much that the foreign exchange market is now 'better able to sustain itself, indicating a healthy market where cash flow matches divestments. And the CBN now comes in only when there is distortion”

Q: Have CBN’s actions had any measurable impact?
A: Yes. Inflows from International Money Transfer Operators (IMTO) increased by 63.7%, marking the highest level in nine months. This surge has further strengthened the forex market, contributing to the Naira’s stability.
IMTOs facilitate money transfers into Nigeria from abroad. Increased inflows support external reserves and enhance economic stability.

Q: Should we expect continued stability for the Naira?
A: So far, the outlook remains positive as the CBN is keen on maintaining currency stability. With sustained reforms, effective forex policies, and increased investor confidence, the Naira is on a path to continued stability. However, continuous monitoring and strategic interventions will be key to maintaining this progress.

Q: What does a stable Naira mean for everyday Nigerians?
A: It has several benefits:

- Lower Prices on Imported Goods: A stronger Naira means lower costs for imported items like food, fuel, and electronics.

- Cheaper Business Operations: Businesses importing materials will see reduced expenses, which could lead to lower prices for consumers.

-More Jobs and Investments: With currency stability, foreign investors gain confidence in Nigeria’s economy, leading to increased job creation and business expansion.
The Naira’s stability is not just about numbers, it’s about a better future for Nigerians. As we move forward, the steps taken today ensure a more prosperous tomorrow.

You want to tear page 39 and throw it away?, Is that what you guys are trying to do?

Why are you afraid of page 39?, Why are you running away from page 39?

Below was what FFK wrote while quoting IBB, where is the lie?

Remember that David Hundeyin, an Ipob hero previously celebrated and was hailing IBB together with his ipob gang when it initially made the news that IBB said it wasn't an ibo coup but as soon as he got a copy of the book and read page 39, my guy jumped out and did a 360° and advising ibos not to buy the book as it is a waste of time and my guy started insulting IBB.

MASSOB and all revisionists spreading the Awolowo narratives should just die it, e don cast tey tey.
On page 39 of the book, Babangida wrote the following:

“It was heinously callous for Nzeogwu to have murdered Sir Ahmadu Bello and his wife, Hafsatu, because not only were they eminently adored by many but also because they were said not to have put up a fight.

“From that moment the putsch was infiltrated by ‘outsiders’ to its supposed original intention and it took on an unmistakable ethnic coloration compounded by the fact that there were no related coup activities in the Eastern Region”.

seunmsg:
The Federal Government will today, March 4, 2025, unveil a new payment platform to replace REMITA, which has been used for revenue collection.

This was revealed in a memo from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, dated February 28, 2025, and obtained by The PUNCH on Monday.

The new platform, named Treasury Management & Revenue Assurance System, is designed to streamline and manage federal revenue collections and payments across ministries, departments, and agencies, including those benefiting from donor funds, trust funds, social security funds, and special funds.

“The system would go live on March 4, 2025, as it will be deployed in two phases,” the memo noted.

According to the memo, the first phase will cover payments and collections for the naira component only.

It will also enable the OAGF and MDAs to generate bank statements, track balances, and activate automatic deduction and remittance of taxes associated with vendor and contractor payments, including VAT, Withholding Tax, and Stamp Duty.

The second phase, expected to commence on June 1, 2025, will cover collections and payments involving foreign exchange and integration with MDA Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

“This phase shall also cover activation of the budget module for MDAs not in the national budget and other non-budgetary financial activities to enforce budget control,” the memo stated.

The document further emphasised that automatic deduction of 50% of Internally Generated Revenue from Federal Government agencies and parastatals will remain in effect

“The split will be managed through the front-end of the TMRAS. The system is designed to automatically split IGR to ensure immediate remittance of the split to both the Federal Government’s account and the dedicated accounts of the respective MDA. Additionally, the system generates and provides detailed reports to both the OAGF and the MDA for transparency and accountability.”

It added that all extra-budgetary payments, including those from Special Accounts, will now be processed exclusively through TMRAS.

“This measure is aimed at completely eliminating the issuance of manual mandates to further enhance transparency, accountability, and efficient management of public funds,” the memo stated.

“MDAs are advised to direct all PSSPs currently collecting on their behalf to connect with the official CBN-payment gateway, for instant coordination of government collections on the platform. The process of profiling PSSPs shall commence immediately, and approved PSSPs by the Treasury shall be certificated and listed on the TMRAS for collections.”

To ensure a smooth transition, REMITA will continue running concurrently with TMRAS from March 4 to May 4, 2025.

“After this transition period, all MDAs would have stabilised on the new platform and will be expected to initiate their payments only on TMRAS,” it added.

Acoording to the Federal Government, the new system aligns with the commitment of the Coordinating Minister of Finance and National Economy, Wale Edun, to achieve “effective Treasury Management, Revenue Assurance, and improved Budget Performance of all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, including Federal Government-Owned Enterprises.”

Lmao, he came back to his senses. He thought it was Biden, forgot there's a new sheriff in town who won’t entertain his gibberish. He actually FAFO because Trump paused his country’s aid. I wonder why he didn’t rely on the EU alone. Reality set in quickly.

He broke the first rule in The 48 Laws of Power: ‘Never Outshine the Master.’

I hope this sends a message to all leaders around the world, allies included, if you mess with Trump, he will mess you up. He always wins. He has the mandate for everything he's doing, which makes his job easier and more enjoyable. If he's ready, he knows what to do, Trump’s administration demands a public apology first
What public apology are you talking about?
Zelenskyy NEVER broke any rule(s).

We the well-informed geopolitical analysts all over the world saw that "crazy school boy bullying" tactics which was first triggered by that JD Vance and then Trump who both then shamelessly lied against Zelenskyy on live television and one right wing White guy who was right in that same Oval Office was even asking Zelenskyy, a visiting Ukraine President why he chose to dress the way he did? No visiting foreign President in American history under the Democrats and Republicans has ever been disrespected like that.

That Oval Office encounter was an insult and a grand diplomatic disrespect of a visiting President and Ukrainian citizens and I don't care whether Ukraine is War-torn, but that man should have been accorded that diplomatic respect! Zelenskyy did NOTHING in the full videos of that Oval Office encounter and this is why a lot of Americans both the Democrats and folks with Republican party leanings were shocked and angry at what especially Vance and Trump did. There are video interviews of several reprimands blasting these two men. It was a bad day for American diplomacy. Even Nigerian-Americans and Nigerians resident in the United States were largely upset by the humiliation and shameless bullying of Zelenskyy in front of the media right in that Oval Office over a meeting to discuss a Ukraine minerals deal. If Zelenskyy is the victim today, it means other world leaders can also be disrespected in that fascist manner.

JD Vance (who is much younger) was supposed to be wiser, but he first triggered the nonsense before Trump now spoke with both men interrupting Zelenskyy all the way from even speaking fully. No doubt, that encounter was planned to humiliate Zelenskyy and portay him as the bad guy despite that it was Russia that invaded Ukraine first.

NO doubt, we all want the crazy war to end BUT fascism must have NO place in America through Trump or that his Vice. Respect and empathy for others is important and Zelenskyy was actually innocent on that day.

I’ve noticed the different spellings of Ukrainian President’s Zelenskyy’s name on Nairaland. I did a Google search and found out different international media outlets spell his name however they feel.

In journalism classes, I was told to refer to people how they prefer their names called (and spelled). As such, president Zelenskyy’s name should always be reported with a double y at the end.

See his X — formerly Twitter — account for example; @ZelenskyyUa.

Nairaland, follow suit.
This is the problem with a vast number of folks NOT paying attention to little details.

Indeed, your observation is spot on and it's brilliant that you pointed that out for other folks to see. I've always used the correct Ukrainian spelling "Zelenskyy" in all my posts, knowing full well that a lot of people are reading and learning.

A lot of the major international media consisting of the major U.S. news outlets and others actually got his name spelling right. The same CANNOT be said of the smaller news outlets, insidious bloggers, and hungry YouTubers with very bad diction.

It’s intellectually LAZY for anyone to mangle other people's names deliberately or not in terms of spelling and/or in terms of pronunciation.
BusinessRe: Naira Rally Puts Dollar Savers At Risk Of Investment Losses by Konquest: 12:10pm On Mar 05, 2025
ogododo:
The US dollar continues to cede ground to the naira following positive market performance and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN’s) reforms impact on the economy. Naira rebound has heightened currency risks for Nigerians storing wealth in dollars expecting sustained naira slide. Naira made whooping N145 gain in February prompting analysts’ warning to dollar savers to offload their holdings to avert further losses.

For long, dollar dominance has constituted major challenge for emerging markets and import-dependent economies like Nigeria where higher greenback valuation hinders macroeconomic indicators.

But after series of reforms instituted by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to prop up the naira and reduce dependence on the dollar, the local currency is finding its lost voice in the exchange rate market.

For instance, the naira recorded major comeback in February, posting one of its biggest wins in recent months.

The local currency, which opened February at N1,640 to dollar at the parallel market closed the month stronger at N1,495 to dollar, representing N145 gain. At the official market, the naira closed at N1,492 from N1,620 it started the month of February on.

Michael Nwadike, FX Analyst said dollar savers are losing in current naira rally and will record more losses as the greenback holders dump it in open market.

He said that the search for better returns on investment is universal but investors should equally consider risks associated with such investments.

According to him, investors looking to diversify their portfolio and protect their wealth against the repeated depreciation of the naira through investment in dollar-denominated assets should have a rethink in the face of ongoing naira rally.

Nwadike however, advised authorities to embrace more pro-market paths to encourage foreigners to take on more naira risks.

“There should also policies that will attract longer-term capital as opposed to fleeting hot monies. The promulgation and implementation of appropriate reforms, improvements in ease of doing business, provision of adequate infrastructure, and tilt to a more liberal currency regime are some measures that could be adopted
,” he said.

According to him, the era of forex distortions in the domestic foreign exchange market came to an end after the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)-backed Electronic Foreign Exchange Matching System (EFEMS) began operations.

The implementation of the FX policy, came with diverse implications for all segments of the financial markets that deal on forex, including rebound in the value of the naira across markets.

“A stabilizing naira is good for everyone stabilizing at both the official markets, but sad over capital loses. This is not the time to hoard dollar because naira is fast finding its feet,” Olakunle Amos, FX trader based in Mushin Lagos.

A retired CBN Director, Prof. Jonathan Aremu, described the currency’s steady appreciation against the Dollar as a positive development.
Aremu, a Professor of International Economic Relations at Covenant University, is also a Regional Expert on Trade and Investment for ECOWAS.

Aremu called for increased production to sustain the Naira’s gains.

He urged the CBN to focus on boosting productive activity in the economy to maintain stability.

According to him, the apex bank should look beyond interest rates and consider other factors influencing production and liquidity.

“The quantity theory of money states that money supply and population value must equal price and transaction volume in the economy. If policy only targets money supply without increasing transactions, the expected appreciation of the Naira will not materialise. The economy needs a higher volume of goods and services. Many goods are available, but their prices depend on supply and demand,” he said.

President, Association of Bureaux De Change Operators of Nigeria (ABCON), Aminu Gwadabe, said he believed the apex bank remained committed to resolving the foreign exchange issues confronting the nation and as such has been working to manage both the demand and supply side challenges.

While admitting that there was huge demand pressure for foreign exchange to meet the needs of manufacturers as well as those for the payment of tuition, medical fees and other invisibles, he added that the monetary authority was strategizing to help Nigeria earn more stable and sustainable inflows of foreign exchange in the face of dwindling inflows from the oil sector.

Specifically, he noted that recent initiatives undertaken by the Bank such as the FX code policy, Electronic Foreign Exchange Matching System (EFEMS), had helped to increase foreign exchange inflow to the country.

On his part, CBN Governor, Olayemi Cardoso described EFEMS as one of the many gains of the exchange rate unification policy, expected to birth several other gains in the market operation.

He said the policy will not only put forex market distortions under check, eliminate speculative activities and instill transparency, but will also make it difficult for abuse in the market to persist.

Cardoso said an enabling policy environment has led to a doubling of monthly remittances from an average of $300 million in 2023 to nearly $600 million in August 2024.

“We are committed to further integrating the Nigerian diaspora into our financial system, exemplified by the introduction of the non-resident Bank Verification Number registration. We expect our financial institutions to develop products that not only enable the diaspora to support their families but also provide opportunities for savings and investment in Nigeria,” Cardoso said.

Cardoso said the current exchange rate for the naira does not reflect the true value of the local currency.

He said the current US dollar exchange rate reflects the price that the most desperate buyers are willing to pay, and this, in the apex bank’s view, does not represent the true market value of the naira.

The CBN boss said the apex bank expects that the introduction of the electronic marketing system will correct these distortions by enhancing price discovery process for the naira.

Additionally, he stated that the move will significantly boost the central bank’s oversight and integration capabilities, ensuring a more stable and transparent foreign exchange market.

Cardoso also said that an FX market defined solely by when and how the central bank buys or sells dollars is inadequate for the needs of a dynamic economy like Nigerians.

“Now is the time for banks to step up to their intermediation and market making responsibilities providing customers with the right solutions to run their businesses and manage risk effectively
, ” he said.

Inflation decline raises hope on naira
The Comercio Partners, in its 2025 macroeconomic outlook, highlighted that the rebasing of Nigeria’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) to 2024 would also create statistical effects that could lower inflation figures.

Expectedly, Nigeria’s annual inflation rate dropped to 24.48 per cent in January, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed. The figure is well down from the previous month’s figure after the Nigeria’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) was rebased for the first time in more than a decade
.

From the stabilisation of exchange rates, the normalisation of energy prices following the subsidy removal to improved liquidity in the forex market, the economy has what it takes to achieve price stability within the year.

The Comercio Partners reports, emphasised the importance of local refining capacity expansion, particularly with the launch of the Dangote Refinery. This development is expected to reduce the impact of exchange rate fluctuations on energy prices. By relying more on domestically refined petroleum, Nigeria is likely to see a reduction in energy price volatility.

This, combined with a more stable exchange rate, is expected to lower production and transportation costs, creating a positive ripple effect throughout the broader economy.

According to Ifeanyi Ubah, head of investment research and global macro strategist, “We expect headline inflation to decrease to around 15 percent in the first half of 2025, indicating a gradual return to economic stability.”

The report also emphasised the importance of local refining capacity expansion, particularly with the launch of the Dangote Refinery.

The need to tame inflation and sustain exchange rate stability also formed part of the key parameters that determined Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) decision to keep rates unchanged at its 299th meeting held last week in Abuja.

Accordingly, the Committee voted to hold the MPR constant at 27.50 per cent and retain all other parameters – Cash Reserve Requirement (CRR) for Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) and Merchants Banks at 50 per cent and 16 per cent, respectively; the asymmetric corridor around the MPR at +500bps/-100bps and the liquidity ratio at 30 per cent

IMF position on dollarisation

According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) report, market participants defend their wealth by shifting to dollar savings under high and persistent inflation.

The Fund said the process of reversing citizens savings in dollars could be complex even after addressing the initial trigger, such as high inflation and exchange rate volatility.

The Fund said most economies operate with a foreign exchange (FX) – the dollar bias for international trade and finance invoicing.

“The optimal choice between domestic currency versus dollars will depend on the monetary framework and the benefits that each may offer as they co-exist as two currencies,” it said.

The IMF explained that in a highly dollarised economy, there is extended use of the exchange rate for price indexation (high real dollarisation and almost complete pass-through from depreciation to inflation). Forex is also used in foreign trade.

It said: “There is limited scope for fiat currency (tax payments, public expenditure, non- durable goods, and low- value transactions; extended forex use for durable goods, real estate, capital goods, and high-value transactions. Also, forex takes over the role of store of value as lending capacity in domestic currency becomes limited. Most loans become forex- denominated when forex bank deposits are allowed.”

Dollar holdings by central banks
Recent data from the IMF’s Currency Composition of Official Foreign Exchange Reserves (COFER) point to an ongoing gradual decline in the dollar’s share of allocated foreign reserves of central banks and governments.

Strikingly, the reduced role of the US dollar over the last two decades has not been matched by increases in the shares of the other “big four” currencies—the euro, yen, and pound.

Rather, it has been accompanied by a rise in the share of what we have called nontraditional reserve currencies, including the Australian dollar, Canadian dollar, Chinese renminbi, South Korean won, Singaporean dollar, and the Nordic currencies.

One nontraditional reserve currency gaining market share is the Chinese renminbi, whose gains match a quarter of the decline in the dollar’s share.

The Chinese government has been advancing policies on multiple fronts to promote renminbi internationalization, including the development of a cross-border payment system, the extension of swap lines, and piloting a central bank digital currency. It is thus interesting to note that renminbi internationalization, at least as measured by the currency’s reserve share, shows signs of stalling out.

I disagree with a part of your post above.

'Seyi's father ('Bola Tinubu, the Nigerian President) doesn't have a heavy Yoruba accent. Listen to him again, the Nigerian President's "diction" when speaking English is quite impeccable. He stresses the words properly... Words such as "nation, election, communication," etc. That's how you'll easily get to know someone who has proper grounding in spoken English.

Back in the day, from the early 1990s when I first got to know Tinubu as a Senator right into the era when he was the Governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007, he has always had a standard accent. BUT with the aging process kicking in, that has affected his vocal cord leaving him with a "slight drawl" like it usually happens to older people above 65 years of age.

Admols:
NCC Approves Mobile Tariff Increases: Voice Calls to Cost ₦15.40/Min, SMS at ₦5.60, 1GB Data at ₦1,400 Starting January 2025

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has approved new mobile service tariffs, set to take effect in January 2025:
• Voice Calls: ₦15.40 per minute (up from ₦11)
• SMS: ₦5.60 per message (up from ₦4)
• 1GB of Mobile Data: ₦1,400 (up from ₦1,000)

These increases come at a time when inflation in Nigeria has reached a record 34.6% in November 2024, the highest in nearly 30 years. This inflation spike, driven by rising food prices and high energy costs, has put additional financial pressure on Nigerians, making mobile services more expensive.

Despite these challenges, the tariff hikes are expected to encourage greater usage of mobile data, particularly for communication on apps like WhatsApp. Telecom operators that provide superior mobile data Quality of Service (QoS) are likely to benefit the most from the trend toward increased data usage.

While the tariff increase provides some relief to service providers facing rising operational costs, it is still a short-term solution to the broader economic issues, particularly the ongoing impact of foreign exchange (FX) fluctuations.

The longer-term solution lies in fostering a strong local tech ecosystem that can reduce Nigeria’s reliance on imported technology and enable operators to pay for local infrastructure in domestic currency, potentially shielding the sector from future inflationary pressures.

He and his family visited Nigeria on holidays in December 2024 right into January 2025 and he paid visits to the Nigerian President, including the Ogun and Lagos States Governors respectively and had lots of Detty December fun with his son in Lagos. The attached pictures that you uploaded of Giannis wearing the Nigerian colors with his original surname spelling on it also conveys a lot of distinct messages.

So, all of them in his family used the original family name Adetokunbo right up to the time Giannis and Thanasis (his immediate older brother) started playing basketball in Greece and even when he finally got to the United States, Giannis was introduced in an NBA documentary which I saw, as Giannis Adetokunbo NOT the meaningless name "Antetokounpo." That name "Antetokounpo" ISN'T even a Greek word because some Greeks who were interviewed by an American newspaper said the name has NO meaning in the Greek language!

Their late father, Charles Adetokunbo was buried in Milwaukee, in the State of Wisconsin with his full names clearly indicated on his epitaph as "Charles Olowu Adetokunbo." I was proud of the Adetokunbo family when I saw that epitaph seen in the image right BELOW because it re-affirmed their Yoruba and Nigerian roots.

Their mother, Veronica hails from Delta State and one of the names of Francis Adetokunbo is "Ofili" (Francis is her FIRST son who was born in Lagos State just before they migrated to Greece in the early 1990s leaving him behind in Nigeria) which from my research findings is a dialectic name that is used majorly in the Anioma or Delta North area of Delta State.

So, the FALSE rumors being spread online and offline by highly uninformed people till today that the family doesn't want to be identified with Nigeria isn't true based off of the fact that Giannis and his mother visited Lagos, Nigeria in late 2023 BUT it wasn't until January 2024 that a larger number of Nigerians knew he had flown into Nigeria on a visit and the story of that visit is in the link right BELOW here:

BusinessRe: Nigerians Can Now Convert Naira To Foreign Currencies On Send App--flutterwave by Konquest: 12:52am On Mar 05, 2025
seunowa:
Flutterwave, Africa’s leading payments technology company, has announced that its innovative foreign currency exchange solution, Swap, is now accessible through Send App.

This service offers Nigerians a secure, reliable, and instant way to access foreign currencies at competitive exchange rates. Send App users can now easily convert or transfer Nigerian Naira (NGN) to US Dollars (USD), British Pounds (GBP), and Euros (EUR), with more currencies to be added in the future.

Swap, backed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), is licensed to offer digital foreign exchange (FX) solutions and facilitate outbound international payments through a partnership with Kadavra BDC and Wema Bank.

It caters to a range of needs – for example, parents can send money to children studying abroad, and individuals can assist loved ones with emergency expenses or medical treatments overseas.

“We are incredibly excited to make Swap accessible on Send App, which we believe will be a paradigm shift for Nigerian businesses and individuals alike. At Flutterwave, our mission has always been to simplify payments for endless possibilities, and this update aligns perfectly with that vision. Now, more than ever, Nigerians can participate fully in the global economy, sending money across borders with ease and confidence,” said Olugbenga ‘GB’ Agboola, Founder and CEO of Flutterwave.

Accessibility of Swap on Send App comes at a time when Nigerians and businesses are experiencing limited access to foreign currencies which has posed a significant challenge for individuals seeking to engage in international transactions, investments, and other cross-border financial activities. Additionally, these challenges have hampered macroeconomic growth and personal financial goals, making it difficult for individuals to fully access global opportunities.

Temiloluwa Adesina, Senior Product Manager, Swap, emphasized the significance of this development for African customers: “We understand the unique challenges our customers face, and we are committed to providing solutions that not only meet but exceed their expectations. By making Swap accessible on Send App, it reinforces our commitment to supporting African customers wherever they are, ensuring they have the tools they need to thrive in a global economy.”

Adesanya’s ex-girlfriend, Powdrell Cries For Losing Case, Money

Israel Adesanya ex-girlfriend, Charlotte Powdrell cries her eyes out after paying him $500k for taking him to court after their breakup.

Charlotte and Isreal never got married nor had kids but when Israel broke up with her, she took him to court demanding for half of his estimated $15-million fortune arguing that they dated for too long(1-year) and he ought to have married her.

So after following and investigating the case for over a year, the court finally passed judgement that she should be given half of Isreal Adesanya’s wealth but it was discovered that Isreal Adesanya’s networth is $0.00 and he has never owned a bank account his whole life.

And since she’s worth $1-milliom and significantly richer than her boyfriend, her own money had to be split among them equally leaving Israel with $500k.

It has been alleged that Israel Adesanya’s entire $15-million is being managed by his mother, Taiwo and she has been managing his finances since the beginning of his career.

The young bearded boy in those pictures looks "put together" on the outside but on the inside is the CORE of a liar and killer.

Many of these young ones getting married do NOT yet have the "emotional intelligence" and maturity for that institution OR long-term romantic relationship, hence will fail again and again until they learn to work on their inner games. You CAN'T give what you don't have. Period.

Either he is mentally unstable or there is money he gets from this. I am genuinely surprised they are still together because every year he raises alarm like this or something about his wife.

Is the marriage do or die?
He would still remain with her. Just mark his name and face. You will see him again in 2026 over this same wife.
Here's another perspective that I NEVER knew before now.

I felt genuine empathy for this dude while watching the full video, and he even affirmed that he saw the recorded video of the so-called wife having sex with another man. When he mentioned 21 alleged men, my jaw nearly hit the floor, but we'll see how things pan out down the road. If things can't work anymore, then he should immediately file for a divorce and get a DNA paternity test done on that child they both have together. Period.

This case further affirms again that it's always IMPORTANT to get both sides of a story.

Nollywood actor and comedian, Ijoba Lande, has made a shocking revelation about his wife’s alleged infidelity, claiming that over 21 actors in the industry have been involved with her.

In an emotional outburst during a recent interview, Lande expressed his pain and frustration, stating that he has undeniable evidence of his wife’s affairs with multiple men in the entertainment industry.

“I can count at least 21 men in this industry alone who have slept with my wife,” he said. “If I mention their names, I might not make it home alive because powerful men are involved.” shocked

The comedian, who once praised his wife as the “best woman in the world,” now says he has been left heartbroken and betrayed. “She is worse than a dog,” shocked he added, expressing deep regret over their relationship.

The allegations have since sparked widespread reactions, with fans and colleagues awaiting further details. As of now, his wife has not responded to the accusations.

This is surreal... Damn!

I just watched the full video. I initially thought it was a movie trailer or some kind of publicity stunt. To think that as of December 2024, he still regarded this girl as the "best" in the world. She moved out of his house as of January 2, 2025 after he discovered a video of her sex scene with an actor and he concluded that about 21 men may have slept with his so-called wife. She definitely must be experiencing a sexual disorder case of nymphomania (induced by schizophrenia) and gave herself over sexually to these large numbers of men "who wanted to quickly chop and clean mouth."

The dude should immediately do a DNA paternity test to ensure that his child is truly his. He should be ruthless about this and reveal the contents of the videos to trusted family folks and top security officials so that justice can be done and to ensure that he doesn't get assassinated (OR taken out of circulation metaphysically) by those powerful men he referenced in the video.

There's NOTHING wrong in having a "real" woman as a spouse in your life, BUT next time, you have to be very ruthless in choosing who you want as your long-term spouse. Period.

Ijoba will bounce back from the current emotional headwinds if he reflects deeply on the specifics and develops his inner game. I felt genuine empathy for him as he spoke in the video interview.
