CelebritiesRe: “the Only Place To Find A Good Man In Lagos Is On The Mainland” – Sanyaolu Fumil by Konquest: 5:32am On Mar 19, 2025
DyshApp:
Nigerian actress Sanyaolu fumilayo has asserted that the only place women can find a good man to settle with in Lagos is on the mainland.

The actress took to her Instagram story to share this piece of advise to her fellow women. According to her, the men on the Mainland in Lagos are good men.

Sanyaolu Fumilayo further added that the men on the Island are fake men who only have interest in sleeping with their girlfriends, their friends and even their girlfriend’s sisters.

She wrote; “The only place to get a good man in Lagos is on the mainland but they are BROKE.

But you see the men on the island, they are F*CKING FAKE NIGGAS who don’t mind Sleeping with you, your friends and your sisters f*CK you all.

You’ll can do better respectfully”.
This "broad" has to really define what she wants in a man and out of life. What does she mean by "men on the Lagos Mainland are broke." That's largely naive and incorrect.

There are many upwardly mobile dudes who live in various pristine elite estates and locations on Lagos Mainland (such as Isheri North Scheme, Magodo GRA Estates, Ikeja GRA, Sonibare Estate in Maryland, Ilupeju Estate, Palmgrove Estate, etc) and they have regular cash flow and are very comfortable. It's NOT everyone from middle-class to middle-upper class, and upper-class that prefers to live on Ikoyi Island, Banana Island, Iru-Victoria Island or the Lekki-Ajah and Ibeju-Lekki areas on the Lekki Peninsula.

I doubt if Sanyaolu Funmilayo is very familiar with locations in Lagos State otherwise she wouldn't have made that tame comment.
Car TalkRe: What Do I Need To Check Before Buying A Car From Dealer Stamd by Konquest:

Please and please. Follow up on this religiously

1. Know that the custom papers provided WILL BE 100% fake . Know this and have peace.

2. You should carry along a competent mechanic not one that would allow you buy a lemon so as to have a constant source of patronage from you when the car start acting up.

3. Ensure you open the bonnet and check the oil level and smell.. it can reveal a lot

4. If you start the engine and the radiator fan starts blowing immediately.. off engine and walk away.. they've tampered with the wiring . Don't attempt to buy and fix later.

Same goes with AC and PS systems.

5. Ensure you drive long enough to allow all the 5 or 6 ears shift in and out.. also make sure the temp gauge gets to middle and listen to engine noise when idling.. if for any reason the seller is hesitant or reluctant to allow you reach decent speed. Kukuma drive back and walk away.

6. Make sure all the light and symbols on the dashboard comes on when you put the ignition to ON position. Many a dubious car dealer will use black tape to cover the check engine light and Airbag light to deceive many a gullible buyer.

7. Check the body thoroughly.. if you see any new paint work in patches especially the bumpers. Just walk away . It came through bush.

8. Check exhaust sound and smoke . A lot can be discerned from that.

9. When driving the car. Check stability and centering. If the car feels off . It's most certain it's been involved in accident and written off as salvage only for our brethren to import and patch-fix in Ladino.

10. Finally. Even if all this checks out. Before you pay. Run a VIN NUMBER report.
abeg.. e get why..

Nothing like perfect car.. just aim to get something decent and safe to drive

Heartwarming moment between Trump and Elon Musk’s son 'Lil X' goes viral

President Trump and Elon's son X walk together to Marine One

Heartwarming photographs of President Donald Trump walking to Marine Force One with Elon Musk’s son are going viral, with internet users doting over the joyful moment.

The image, which was posted to X by the White House, shows Trump giving his signature thumbs up while Musk's son, X Æ A-12, also known as "Lil X," happily smiling at the cameras as they headed to the famous chopper on Friday.

The snap has garnered more than 4 million views as of Saturday morning.

"I love this pic! Lil X looks so happy," wrote one user with a blush emoji on X.

Video and other pictures of Trump, 78, and Lil X, 4, show the two exiting a White House door with the tech billionaire's son dressed in a black coat with a USA pin and holding what appears to be a bag of candy.

Jumping and skipping with excitement, Lil X leads Trump out as they walk down a small ramp on the White House South Lawn toward Marine Force One.

Trump, also in a black coat, then waves towards the cameras, prompting Lil X to look over to the press pool. As soon as he spots the cameras, he smiles and jumps with his hands in the air.

“That’s a happy picture,” Musk wrote on X about a similar photo of the two at that moment.

U.S. President Donald Trump and à A-Xii, the son of White House Senior Advisor, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, walks towards Marine One on the South Lawn on March 14, 2025 in Washington, DC.

Last month, he stood alongside Musk and Trump at the Oval Office as Musk spoke to the media about DOGE's mission and accomplishments.

Lil X was seen playfully mimicking his father, flashing funny faces and picking his nose before Musk hoisted him on his shoulders.

Foreign AffairsRe: Spacex’s Crew-10 Arrives At The ISS, Paving The Way For NASA’s Astronauts Return by Konquest: 3:12am On Mar 19, 2025
AImiron:
A crew of astronauts who will take over duties on the International Space Station from NASA’s Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore — allowing the duo to return home after a days-long journey turned into a nine-month, politically charged trip — have arrived at the orbiting laboratory.

The Crew-10 mission, part of a routine staff rotation jointly operated by NASA and SpaceX, took off at 7:03 p.m. ET Friday from Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

A SpaceX Dragon capsule, riding atop one of the company’s Falcon 9 rockets, carried the four Crew-10 astronauts — NASA’s Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers, Takuya Onishi of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Kirill Peskov — to orbit.

The four crew members docked with the space station around 12:04 a.m. ET on Sunday. They will spend a few days in a “handover” period with Williams, Wilmore, and their fellow Crew-9 astronauts, NASA’s Nick Hague and Roscosmos’ Aleksandr Gorbunov.

The Crew-9 Dragon capsule has been docked at the space station since September. If all goes according to plan, Williams, Wilmore, Hague and Gorbunov will climb aboard the Crew-9 spacecraft and head back to Earth as soon as March 19.

NASA had slated Williams, Wilmore and the other Crew-9 astronauts to return as soon as Sunday. However, their departure hinges on the safe arrival of the relief crew — and SpaceX called off an attempt to launch the Crew-10 mission on Wednesday due to issues with the company’s launchpad ground systems.

The new date is closer in line to a late March departure time that NASA gave the astronauts in December before SpaceX opted to swap the Dragon capsule it used to fly Crew-10 in an attempt to accelerate Williams and Wilmore’s return.

Launch attempts are routinely called off because of technical issues, but the slight delay in getting Crew-10 off the ground has reignited conversations of Williams and Wilmore being “stuck” or “stranded” in space — descriptors the two astronauts have rejected.

“That’s been the narrative from day one: stranded, abandoned, stuck — and I get it, we both get it,” Wilmore told CNN’s Anderson Cooper in February. “Help us change the narrative, let’s change it to: prepared and committed despite what you’ve been hearing. That’s what we prefer.”

After the hand-off of duties to Crew-10 astronauts is complete, the Crew-9 astronauts can board their capsule and undock — and that milestone will kick off the final stretch of Williams and Wilmore’s fraught journey.

While their stay in space has become increasingly politicized, with SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and President Donald Trump asserting the Biden administration abandoned the duo in space, Williams and Wilmore have known since at least last summer they would return home with Crew-9 as part of a routine staffing rotation.

Acting NASA administrator Janet Petro said during Friday’s launch webcast that she spoke to Williams and Wilmore and their crewmates last week.

She said they suspect the four astronauts will have “mixed emotions.”

Every time you get to go to space — which is what all astronauts want to do — you never know it might be your last time, because you might not be selected for another mission,” Petro said. “So I bet they have mixed emotions leaving their colleagues up there at the space station. I’m sure they’re anxious to get home and put their feet on Earth and spend time with their family — but I think that they have enjoyed their time in space.”

Foreign AffairsRe: Trump Poses With Teslas In Front Of The WH, The Company’s Slumping Stock Climbs by Konquest:
AImiron:
New York, CNN— It was an extraordinary scene at the White House South Lawn Tuesday. President Donald Trump effectively held a combination press conference and live Tesla ad outside the White House, accompanied by the company’s CEO and Department of Government Efficiency Head Elon Musk – all in front of a line of shiny Tesla vehicles.

The scene was all the more remarkable because Tesla shares have been in a sharp slump recently, erasing all their gains since Election Day as Musk’s increasing political profile and moves to slash the federal government have drawn a major backlash and Europe sales decline.

Tesla stock climbed on Tuesday, with Trump saying that he would label any violence against Tesla dealerships as domestic terrorism. As he spoke, Trump was holding what resembled a Tesla showroom pitch with a list of vehicle prices, according to Getty Images. “Teslas can be purchased as low as $299/month or $35k,” the note said.

Tesla shares closed up 3.8% Tuesday, regaining some ground from Monday’s losses.

At the White House Tuesday, Trump said he would buy a Tesla and that he had bought a Cybertruck for his granddaughter.

“I think (Musk has) been treated very unfairly by a very small group of people, and I just want people to know that he can’t be penalized for being a patriot,” Trump said, as protests both violent and nonviolent have risen across the country against Tesla and Musk.

Trump had posted on Truth Social overnight he was “going to buy a brand new Tesla tomorrow morning as a show of confidence and support for Elon Musk, a truly great American,” calling boycotts against the company illegal.

But some analysts still remain optimistic on Tesla. Wedbush said in a note Tuesday it was still bullish on Tesla’s innovation and technology outlook and expected only 5% of Tesla owners to second guess buying a Tesla again due to Musk. And other analysts saw the dip in Tesla shares as a buying opportunity.

Trump had said he would buy the Tesla full price.

“I don’t want a discount,” Trump said. “(Musk) would give me discount, but if I do a discount, they’re gonna say, ‘Oh, I got benefits."

Foreign AffairsRe: Trump Moves To Close Down Voice Of America by Konquest: 3:00pm On Mar 18, 2025
domesifa:
US President Donald Trump has signed an order to strip back federally funded news organisation Voice of America, accusing it of being "anti-Trump" and "radical".

A White House statement said the order would "ensure taxpayers are no longer on the hook for radical propaganda", and included quotes from politicians and right-wing media criticising the broadcaster.

VOA, still primarily a radio service, was set up during World War Two to counter Nazi propaganda. It says it currently reaches hundreds of millions of people globally each week.

Mike Abramowitz, VOA's director, said he and virtually his entire staff of 1,300 people had been put on paid leave.

Abramowitz said that the order left VOA unable to carry out its "vital mission... especially critical today, when America's adversaries, like Iran, China, and Russia, are sinking billions of dollars into creating false narratives to discredit the United States".

The National Press Club, a leading representative group for US journalists, said the order "undermines America's long-standing commitment to a free and independent press".

It added: "If an entire newsroom can be sidelined overnight, what does that say about the state of press freedom?

"An entire institution is being dismantled piece by piece. This isn't just a staffing decision - it's a fundamental shift that endangers the future of independent journalism at VOA."

The president's order targets VOA's parent company US Agency for Global Media (USAGM), which also funds non-profit entities such as Radio Free Europe and Radio Free Asia, which were originally set up to counter communism.

It tells managers to "reduce performance… to the minimum presence and function required by law".

CBS, the BBC's US news partner, said that VOA employees were notified in an email by Crystal Thomas, the USAGM human resources director.

A source told CBS that all freelance workers and international contractors were told there was now no money to pay them.

Emails obtained by CBS notified the bosses of Radio Free Asia and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty that their federal grants had been terminated.

VOA and other stations under USAGM say they serve more than 400 million listeners. They are broadly equivalent to the BBC World Service, which is part-funded by the British government.

The Czech Republic's Foreign Minister, Jan Lipavský, said he hoped the European Union could help keep Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty running in Prague.

He said he would ask European foreign ministers at a meeting on Monday to find ways to at least partially maintain the broadcaster's operations.

Elon Musk, the billionaire and top adviser to Trump who has been overseeing sweeping cuts to the US government, has used his social media platform X to call for VOA to be shut down.

The US president also cut funding to several other federal agencies - including those responsible for preventing homelessness, and funding museums and libraries.

Trump was highly critical of VOA in his first term. He has recently appointed staunch loyalist Kari Lake to be a special adviser for the USAGM.

The president regularly states that mainstream media outlets are biased against him. He called CNN and MSNBC "corrupt" during a speech at the justice department.

Voice of America launched in 1942 with a mandate to combat Nazi and Japanese propaganda. Its first broadcast - made on a transmitter loaned to the US by the BBC - stated a modest purpose.

Gerald Ford, a former president, signed VOA's public charter in 1976 to safeguard its editorial independence.

By 1994, the Broadcast Board of Governors, with oversight over non-military broadcasting, was established.

In 2013, a shift in legislation allowed VOA and affiliates to begin broadcasting in the US.
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cvge4l109r3o
This is a VERY BAD move based off of personal vendetta by Trump and the damned advice from Elon.

The VOA has ALWAYS been the iconic voice for the projection of U.S. policies and more globally for decades.
However, while it's good to always keep costs of operations down, if Donald goes right ahead to fully scrap it, another administration will bring VOA back in a BETTER way. Period.
BusinessRe: Benue Traders Devastated As Fire Destroys Over ₦20m Worth Properties At Rice Mil by Konquest:
Chisoretta:
A devastating Fire invaded the popular Rice Mill Market in Wurulum, Markurdi rendering most traders shop less, as properties were reduced to ashes.

Traders cry out for help, seeking government’s intervention in the matter.

There have been massive cries from traders as fire gutted down properties worth millions of naira at the renowned Benue Rice Mill in Wurukum, Makurdi, Benue State.

The incident, which started in the early hours of Monday, March 17, caused significant damage to affected shops, as rice and processing equipment were reduced to ashes.

Daily Report Nigeria gathered that eyewitnesses reported the blaze began near the River Benue Bridge rapidly consuming several shops and essential milling equipment.

Although operatives of the State Fire Service arrived at the scene and prevented the fire from spreading to other shops, unfortunately, some had already been affected, with processed and unprocessed rice, milling machines, and other goods completely burnt.

Among the affected traders is Mercy Hanmaikyur, who suffered significant losses from the incident. She estimated her damages at about ₦10 million.

Mercy lamented, “This shop was opened last December, and I have invested about ₦10 million. I had three machines—a de-stoning machine, a rice polishing machine—and many bags of processed and unprocessed rice. Everything was burnt.”

Another victim of the incident, Iorwa Jeremiah, also shared his loss. He told newsmen that the fire spread so quickly that no one could save anything from his shop.

Jeremiah stated, “I got a call in the early hours of today. By the time I arrived, I saw other shop owners with firefighters trying to put out the fire. Unfortunately, the damage had already been done.”

Meanwhile, the chairman of the rice mill market, Mr. Terva Igyar, confirmed the huge extent of the damage, noting that several shops, milling machines, and numerous bags of rice were destroyed. He also stated that he had reported the incident to the appropriate authorities for necessary action.

Speaking on the cause of the fire incident, Mr. Terva emphasized that electricity was unlikely to be responsible, as the shops lacked power connections. At the moment, the exact cause of the inferno is yet unknown, as investigations are currently ongoing.

Affected traders are appealing to the state governor, Governor Hyacinth Alia, and other state authorities for immediate assistance to help rebuild their livelihoods.

This is not the first fire outbreak in the state. Benue State has witnessed similar tragedies in the past. For instance, in February 2025
, a fire devastated the Ihiokwu Main Market in Obi Local Government Area, resulting in losses amounting to millions of naira.

The frequency of such incidents underscores the urgent need for enhanced safety measures and infrastructure improvements in Benue’s marketplaces to prevent future occurrences.
https://dailyreport.ng/benue-traders-devastated-as-fire-destroys-over-%e2%82%a620m/
I get really pissed off sometimes when I read the stories of traders lamenting over their lost goods and property from market fires.

Everyone of the traders in markets around Nigeria MUST be compelled to subscribe for mandatory fire insurance policies from here on out. I remember one well-spoken woman in the FCT in Abuja cried out last year (2024) that she lost N3 million worth of goods in a market inferno and she did NOT have a fire insurance policy in place to replace any lost goods. I wondered out loud how a woman would have goods worth N3 million and yet not have a standard fire insurance policy!

I simply had NO sustainable empathy for her when she was crying out in the video to the government to assist her to replace her goods that got burned.
PoliticsRe: 2027: Southern Kaduna Dismisses El-rufai’s Coalition, Pledges Support For Tinubu by Konquest: 2:13pm On Mar 18, 2025
TimeManager:
The Southern Kaduna support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured the president of block votes in future elections, citing his administration’s support for the region.

The group’s pledge comes in response to the defection of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and his reported efforts to form a coalition against the current administration.

In a statement issued by its National Coordinator, Dr. Joseph G. Ibrahim, and Director of Media and Public Affairs, Hon. Victor Bobai Mathew, the group said President Tinubu’s emergence has changed the fortunes of Southern Kaduna.

“With President Tinubu’s leadership and the collaborative efforts of Governor Uba Sani, we have witnessed transformational policies that have given us renewed hope for a more secure and prosperous future,” the statement read.

The group stated that Tinubu’s appointment of General Christopher Gwabin Musa as the Chief of Defence Staff was a demonstration of trust in the people of Southern Kaduna.

“This appointment is a testament to our region’s contributions to nation-building and a strategic move toward ensuring security and stability,” it noted.

Among the key infrastructural and security interventions credited to the Tinubu administration was the approval and construction of a military barracks in Samaru Kataf, which the group described as a “game-changer.”

“For years, Southern Kaduna was plagued by insecurity, making life unbearable for farmers, traders, and families. This permanent security presence will deter attacks, enhance safety, and restore confidence among our people,” it stated.

In the healthcare sector, the group lauded President Tinubu for approving the establishment of a Federal Medical Center in Kafanchan, describing it as a major milestone that would improve healthcare services, reduce maternal and infant mortality, and enhance the well-being of residents.

Education was also a focal point of the group’s commendation, as it celebrated the approval of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia.

“For decades, Southern Kaduna was marginalized in education development. This institution will provide quality education, skill development, and create employment opportunities for our youth,” the group stated.

The group further credited President Tinubu’s leadership for improving security, allowing farmers to return to their lands, and fostering an economic revival in the region.

“The proactive security strategies by the Nigerian Armed Forces, led by General CG Musa, have ensured that farmers and business owners can operate without fear.

“With improved security and infrastructure, Southern Kaduna is experiencing a business revival. Traders, entrepreneurs, and investors now have the confidence to expand their businesses, leading to job creation and economic prosperity,” it added.

Expressing confidence in the government, the group reaffirmed its commitment to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that supporting the party at both state and federal levels was a demonstration of unity, patriotism, and commitment to national progress.

The group also praised Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for his dedication to the development of Southern Kaduna, particularly in the areas of infrastructure and security.

“His collaboration with General CG Musa has yielded significant gains. We will continue to stand by him to ensure that he completes his good works for the state,” the group assured.

That's a giant leap of faith.

I'm glad that there's been an increased level of normalcy being experienced in the Southern Kaduna axis which is significantly different from the horrendous years of mass killings of the indigenous folks there by the foreign Fulani herders and bandits

PoliticsRe: Dangote Plans Largest Seaport In Ogun by Konquest:
professorPABX:
You are not exposed enough or intelligent enough to know some of the things you mentioned here.

We have what is called Strength, Weakness, Opportunities Triangle. Chief Louis Philip Ojukwu the father of Ikemba of Nnewi, an accomplished businessman at very early age built the Headquarters of his trading business in Apapa Port Complex (Nnewi Building). He could have done that at ABONEMA port in Portharcourt or Warri or Sapele . DANGOTE will build his business where international trade and coordination would be easy for him.

BUA is already in AkwaIbom. APM has terminal at Onne Port.

You look at the Markets and mobility. Trades along Economic Community of Central Africa States (ECCAS) favour Calabar and AkwaIbom ports. Local Intra regional business favours Portharcourt port.

Trades and Shipping along Lagos ports, Cotonou port, Lome port, GHANA Seaports, Cote D'Ivoire ports and ECOWAS states favour Western ports.
Brilliantly stated right above.

I like the fact that you have a sound knowledge of geopolitical dynamics and business history which are VERY important for understanding how business trends work over the centuries.

The "S.W.O.T" test is a standard business procedure which means you have to FIRST analyze the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats that your planned investment or business would encounter in the short, medium, to long-term.

Second, in addition to what you stated above, it was right from Yorubaland that Louis Ojukwu (Emeka Ojukwu's father) made his FIRST millions. Emeka Ojukwu's friend, the British-born Frederick Forsyth CLEARLY wrote in his 1969 non-fiction book entitled: "The Biafra Story" [which I've fully read because I have a copy in my personal home library] about the then ongoing Nigerian Civil War (1967-1970), that Louis Ojukwu bought land from the indigenes of Iruland (otherwise known as Victoria Island) in Lagos, and then resold it to the British Colonialists at a huge profit (which pushed him into the millionaire status far more than any business he had ever done before) when the British needed land for some developmental projects. Alhaji Alhassan Dantata (Aliko Dangote's maternal great grandfather) of the Agalawa (Tuareg) long-distance trading family of Kano was the richest man in Nigeria and indeed the entire West Africa as of 1955 when he finally passed on (he was born in 1880) and he ALSO had strong trade links in Lagos and Kano.

So, the geographical position as an international business hub of Lagos State directly to the Atlantic Ocean and the West African coastline including other contiguous States such as Ogun State around Lagos has ALWAYS provided that leverage for decades for any discerning local and international investor to thrive and make money running into millions.

The President/Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Ltd, Alhaji Aliko Dangote on Monday disclosed the readiness of the company to return to the Olokola Free Trade Zone in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of the state for the largest seaport project in the country.

Dangote also said that his company has equally returned to site to construct a 6million metric tons per annum cement factory at Itori in Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state slated for completion by November 2026.

The billionaire industrialist regretted that the the almost $800m Itori cement factory was supposed to have been long completed and commissioned but for the opposition of ex-Govenor Ibikunle Amosun to the project.

Dangote disclosed this during his visit to the ongoing 6 million metric tons per annum cement factory at Itori.

He said, “When we started building the new cement factory at Itori, former Governor Amosun demolished it, we came back again and restarted the project but Governor Amosun also came again, demolished the factory and even the fencing, so we left.

“But because of my brother, Governor Dapo Abiodun we are back to the site and you will be surprised with the level of work ongoing there.”

Dangote said that he was in the state to update the governor on the ongoing two new lines of 6million metric tons per annum(Mta) cement plant in Itori sitting on 533 hectares of land.

He stated that the state currently host 12 million metric tons per annum Dangote Cement Plant, Ibese and that on completion of Itori cement project, the state will have a combined capacity of 18Mta, making it the highest cement producing state or region in Africa.

Dangote equally revealed that he has decided to return the earlier abandoned Olokola FTZ for the largest port in the country due to Abiodun’s favourable disposition.

He said “We earlier on abandoned our vision of investing in the Olokola Free Trade Zone (OKFTZ), but because of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s policies and investor friendly
environment, I want to say we are back and are going to work with the government and return to Olokola and plans are underway to construct the largest port in the country.”

Dangote said that It is on record that his investment in cement manufacturing has made Nigeria self-sufficient in the product, effectively ending importation and
marking its transformation into a cement exporting nation.

He explained, “We have also repeated the feat in production of fertilizer as Nigeria is now self-sufficient, with the surplus going for the export market thereby generating foreign exchange earnings for the country.

“We rolled out automotive gas oil(AGO) in January 2024 and Premium Motor Spirit(PMS) in September 2024 from our 650,000 barrels per day petroleum refinery located in Ibeju-Lekki. Other products from the refinery include aviation fuels, LPG, and carbon black.

“The refinery has the capacity to meet domestic demand for all refined petroleum products. Today we have repeated the cement story, where a country that was once a net importer of a product, is now exporting refined petroleum products.”

He reiterated that the goals of Dangote Industries is to make Nigeria self-sufficient in whatever we consume since there is abundant natural resources for the domestic manufacturing of these products and commodities.

Dangote explained that key factor that drives investments in any economy is the presence of an investor-friendly business climate, lauding Gov Abiodun for his various deliberate policies which has made the state one of the most attractive investment destinations in Nigeria.

Speaking at the event, Abiodun lauded Dangote for being an exemplary industrialist who remained undaunted in his determination to industrialise the country.

Abiodun hailed the industrialist for returning back to the state to construct $800m cement factory at Itori despite the needless opposition of his predecessor saying that it only further confirmed the uniqueness of Dangote and his undiluted love for Nigeria.

The governor also lauded Dangote for the ongoing construction of Sagamu Interchange to Papalanto describing the road as very critical to economic growth and prosperity of the state.

Abiodun said that his government will continue to create enabling environment to further attract investors to the state.

The governor described Dangote’s visit as historical saying that it has provided opportunity for the government to engage with the industrialist on issues bordering further economic development of the state.

For those who are NOT aware, the Olokola Free Trade Zone (OKFTZ) straddles both sides of Ogun and Ondo States borders.

The Dangote Petrochemical Refinery was originally scheduled to be built in the area straddling Ogun and Ondo but due to bureaucratic bottlenecks, Dangote moved it to the Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State due to the more favorable investment terms the then Governor Bola Tinubu of Lagos State (now President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria) gave him.
The rest is history. This further emphasizes the importance of seizing hot opportunities as they arise (after doing your due diligence).

So, we'll see how the "biggest" Seaport he plans to build pans out down the road. However, investments and businesses can ONLY thrive if there is national and regional stability.

I wish Aliko Dangote of the Kano Agalawa (Tuareg) long-distance trading family bloodline and Forbes-listed USD billionaire all the best in his current and future global investments.
PoliticsRe: FG Awards Lagos Ports Renovation Contract To Chagoury Group by Konquest: 11:19am On Mar 18, 2025
Islie:
The federal government has awarded a contract for the renovation of two major Lagos ports — Tin Can and Apapa — to Chagoury Group, TheCable understands.

Chagoury Group is a multinational conglomerate led by Gilbert Chagoury, a Lebanese-Nigerian billionaire.

Sources close to the conversation said the federal executive council (FEC) approved the contract in February.

“Yes, the award was given to Chagoury Group after it followed due process,” a source said, responding to TheCable’s enquiry.

“FEC gave the approval sometime in February and the agency in charge, that is the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), will give the announcement soon.”

The NPA, in November 2023, announced plans to commence the rehabilitation of ports across the country, valuing the project at $1.1 billion.

On April 18, 2024, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) said it secured a $700 million facility agreement for the rehabilitation of the Apapa and Tin-Can Island ports in Lagos.

Mohammed Bello-Koko, the ex-managing director of the NPA, had said the loan, negotiated with Citi Bank Nigeria, would be funded by the UK Export Finance (UKEF), an export credit agency, for the project.

Although no official announcement has been made yet, Ikechukwu Onyemekara, spokesperson of the NPA, confirmed that the project was awarded to Hitech Construction and ITB Nigeria, stressing that “Chagoury was not stated in the contract”.

TheCable’s checks found that Chagoury Group operates several subsidiaries — including two construction firms, Hitech and ITB Nigeria.

The conglomerate is reportedly responsible for the construction of major projects across Lagos state.

In September 2023, David Umahi, the minister of works, disclosed that Hitech will handle the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project under a public-private partnership (PPP) model.

Hitech is also said to be the firm that oversaw the construction of the Lekki-Epe expressway and the Ajah flyover in Lagos.

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, in May 2024, criticised the federal government for awarding the construction of the coastal highway to Hitech, saying there was a conflict of interest.

Abubakar had said Seyi, President Bola Tinubu’s son, is a director on the board of CDK Integrated Industries, another subsidiary of the Group.

In response to Atiku, the presidency said Tinubu’s son is entitled to pursue his business interests in Nigeria and around the world within the bounds of the law.

On March 16, Umahi said Tinubu did not recommend any company for the Lagos-Calabar road project.

Blowing up pipelines will only embolden Wike and his group to proceed with the impeachment of the governor.I shared my opposition to the current journey of impeachment against fubara both offline and online, and I stand by it. However, blowing up pipelines is a crude and futile tactics by the governor and his Ijaw people.Murtala Nyako was impeached as governor in 2014 when GEJ was president,Adamawa people didn't threaten to burn down Nigeria even though GEJ the mastermind of that Impeachment.

My Ijaw people make una enter house and don't turn political disagreement between godfather and son to ethnic fight. Ijaw doesn't control all the pipelines and oil wells in the Niger Delta. The major loser from this adventure is going to be Tompolo who is under contract to protect pipelines. I am aware so many leaders from Niger Delta including Wike have been advocating the splitting of the oil pipeline protection contracts among various warlords and tribes in the region and this may be an advantage presented to them.
Succinctly stated.

Besides, official statistics from the oil majors CLEARLY show that over 95% of ALL oil pollutions recorded in the Niger Delta region from the 1990s (which got WORSE from the early 2000s) were as a result of pipeline vandalizations and oil thefts.

Aside from the horrendous Ogoni oil spills due to Shell Petroleum operations from the 1990s, and a few others, the vast number of oil pollutions on land and the water ways were done by criminal elements with ancestral roots in the Niger Delta (especially among the Ijaws) who relentlessly stole these oils via illegal oil bunkering and for sale to buy weapons from the early 2000s to prosecute the militancy movement.

Jerrymanta:
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted Wale Oluyi, the owner of Daisi Oluyi Farms, along with his manager.

The assailants reportedly stormed the farm near Ogbese in Akure North Local Government Area around 11 p.m. on Thursday, firing sporadically before whisking away their victims.

Family sources confirmed that the kidnappers have demanded a N30 million ransom for their release.

A close source said friends and family members have begun contributing money to ensure their release.

The source said the abduction was reported at the Ala Elofosan police station

Meanwhile, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has vowed to flush all criminal elements out of the state.
Aiyedatiwa, who spoke at a critical stakeholders’ meeting in Akure, said his administration would not allow the state became a haven for criminals.

The Ondo Governor pledged to uphold the State recognized status as the most peaceful state in the country.

He said his administration would deploy all necessary resources to flush out criminals from their hideouts.

The governor also called on traditional rulers, community leaders, and village heads to remain vigilant and collaborate with security agencies.

According to him, “We will not allow Ondo State to become a haven for criminals. While we welcome all law-abiding Nigerians who wish to live and conduct legitimate business here, we will not tolerate individuals disguising themselves as farmers while using our forests as hideouts for illegal activities such as kidnapping and other crimes.

“Whenever you notice any suspicious movement, alert the security agents immediately. If you see something, say something. Security is a collective responsibility for everyone.”

“I will also be meeting with traditional rulers because insecurity in any part of the state affects the entire state.”

Ondo Police spokesman, Funmilayo Odunlami, did not pick calls made to her phone.

Official crime statistics available from over 35 years ago till date clearly indicate that a lot of the crimes committed in the Ondo State axis such as armed robberies, kidnappings for ransom and more are done by non-Ondo State indigenes (even non-Yoruba folks) such as those arrested from Ebira in Kogi, Delta, a few Edo, Fulani herdsmen, and Ibo interstate armed robbers who came from Anambra State.

Internal moles close to the founder of the farm and his farm manager can ALSO be involved in this crime.

All over the world, the cost of living has shot up from what things were 5, 10, 15 years ago. Global and country-specific inflation rates have made mincemeat of salaries earned. To mitigate these situations, I've always advocate for people to acquire financial literacy and learn to invest because there will be many global economic downturns and recessions every decade. The new normal of pandemics due to zoonotic diseases are here due to mutations so expect occasional lockdowns which drag economies down.

Learn to earn in hard currencies through financial literacy from wherever you are located so that you can also fill your trolleys in any shopping mall regardless of inflation. Period.

PoliticsRe: The House King Jaja Of Opobo Lived In Exile In The 1880's In ST Vincent by Konquest:
mrksquare:
The language of the Opobo people is Ibani. That's not to say that they don't speak Igbo.

I'm from the Ijaw speaking part of Ogoloma in Rivers state . And in my community, owing to the penchant of our men in time past in getting married to Igbo women, over time we lost our dialect in preference for Igbo. Does that make us Igbo people?

King Jaja was not the sole founder of Opobo kingdom. He migrated alongside with other people. He was only elected to head over them as king because he was wealthy. And mind you, the language of the Opobo and Bonny people is Ibani. The fact that some Opobo people speak Igbo doesn't mean it is their dialect.
Bump.

Indeed, your post is insightful.

However, Opobo is originally Ibibioland. As of 1870 when Jaja and his group from the Annie Pepple house fled for their lives to Ikot Abasi in Ibibioland from Bonny Island due to the 1869 Civil War in Bonny, Opobo was part of the larger Ikot Abasi. The Ibibios leased the land to Jaja who is a naturalized Ijaw (through the mandatory Ijaw initiation ceremony for former free slaves of which Jaja was one). Opobo is indeed a mixed hybrid of Ijaw, Ibibio, and Ndoki descent who are migrant settlers. All these FACTS (unknown to a lot of uninformed younger people who peddle all kinds of deliberately fabricated histories), were meticulously documented by the British traders who frequented the Opobo (Imo) River to purchase palm oil for exports and the British Colonial officers and can be accessed from the historical archives.

However in it was ONLY in 1976 that the land of Opobo (which is originally part of the larger Ibibioland) was carved out of Cross River State and merged into Rivers State.

Read the iconic book: "The History of Nigeria" by Sir. Allan Burns, who was the Governor-General of Nigeria and the Gold Coast (Ghana) to read more advanced information about the Ibibio origins of Opobo (IKOT ABASI) as of 1870 and Jaja's greed and wickedness to his fellow men because he wanted to monopolize the middle-man trade to the exclusion of other tribes in the words of Sir Allan Burns. The upriver ethnic groups or tribes such as the Annangs, Ngwas, Ibibios, etc, were brutally prevented (through public bloodbaths and beheadings) from engaging in the lucrative trade along the Opobo River with the British traders and this led to the "Ikot Udo Obong War" with the Annangs who had to resist Jaja's greed and dictatorship. This is a major reason why in 1887, the British Colonialists removed and deported Jaja who eventually died in 1891 just 21 years after originally arriving to seek refuge in Ibibioland (and Opobo).

Please if you don’t understand the culture of the Ijaw city states of the eastern delta. It is important you ask.

Under the acculturation system of the ijaw city states of the eastern delta. There are 2 ways to become a citizen.
1. By birth
2. By adoption where a head money is paid. (siwi igbi). The literal meaning of Jaja’s full name Jugbo Jugbo fem is somebody bought somebody else. So of course he is of Igbo descent and he was bought by Anna people and became his child by adoption. In ijaw society nobody is a slave, he was raised as a child with full rights of the Anna people house that allows him to even replace his father as chief.

Now on the issue of Amachree, I am a direct descendant of Amachree (8th great great grand father), and King Abbi (5th great grand father) any of my brothers can become Amayanabo of Kalabari (New Calabar) if they contest and win. Amachree’s mother was a Kalabari woman from the original Kalagbea ward. But his father was a freshwater Ijaw man from the central delta. He is not of Igbo origin, although he bought a lot of ibo people from the interior to expand the Kalabari population, and reinforced the idea that all Kalabari people are his people. There is a saying that King Amachree o e da fe a or inyingi fem- meaning if he did not buy your father, he bought your mother. Now on Bonny, they migrated from the central delta- fresh water ijaw land, and stayed for a while in ndokki, where the group split into 2, and some went to Bonny which the new indigenes called Okoloba. In Bonny, with the rise of the palm oil trade and the large number of slaves from the ibo interior. Bonny made a different decision than the kalabari’s by making ibani ijaw a secret language for the elites, so that their numerous slaves will not overthrow them. So ibo became the trade language. This decision means that someone like Jaja who was the foster child of a big chief spoke fluent ibani because he was an elite, and I have read diaries of the British consul trying to settle the fight between opobo and bonny chiefs, with Kalabari and Okrika chiefs as mediators for both groups. All the chiefs from the 4 kingdoms were speaking ijaw because the eastern jaw dialect of kalabari, Okrika, bonny and opobo are mutually intelligible. Now, in new calabar all new adoptees, we don't call them slaves, had to learn the kalabari language, and in fact your ability to speak kalabari determined how fast you could integrate into your new society, that is why in kalabari land. Ibo never gained a foothold like in bonny and the subsequent state of opobo did. So of course we too had lots of people from the ibo interior acculturated into our societies. But, you are an ijaw person, not a slave and you are accorded full rights of a full citizen. So the whole calling Jaja a slave is a joke gone too far. He was the pampered and privileged child of a wealthy chief.

You are 1000% correct.........I am from Nnewi South in Anamba state.. my father was born in Opobo in 1935 and he only left for my village when he turned 15 years old!

When I spoke to him about the years long argument on Nairaland about the origins of the people of Opobo.....that l felt they where Igbos..........He laughed and said the true owners of Opobo are Ibibios... I was flabberwhelmed and overgasted! He said Everyone else there is a settler but that Igbol and especially Igbo language is the dominant culture! Case closed ............Opobo is essentially a Cultural Metropolis........Ijaws should allow the place to develop organically.....this fixation to squeeze out every culture that is not Ijaw is not a good thing in my humble opinion!
@Eboofa

I'm glad that I followed my gut instincts to make my advanced historical contributions from the archives on this thread. I didn't want to post any comments on this thread originally.

I appreciate your awesome feedback here which affirms my ORIGINAL post. Your nonagenarian father is indeed a very noble man and a true elder of Nnewi South descent despite being born in Opobo in 1935. I respect him for giving you the specifics of the Ibibio ethnic origins of Opobo and affirming that everybody (Ijaws, Ndoki, etc) there is just a migrant settler on a land that originally belongs to the Ibibios. This is how things should be, setting the records straight for the impressionable younger generation so that we all can have inner peace!

EXCEPT the Ibibios decide that they DON'T want the Opobo land again, which they originally leased to the Ijawnized Jaja and his ethnically mixed group (who fled for their lives from Bonny Island in 1870, and arrived in Ikot Abasi in Ibibioland), then the Ijaws may be at liberty to claim full ownership of Opobo Island since it is now part of Rivers State and was only carved out from the rest of Ibibioland in a 1976 boundary adjustment from the Old Cross River State.

However, like you stated in agreement with my original post, Opobo is a hybrid of ethnic migrant settlers with Ibo language being widely understood and this is what the "Opobo belongs to only Ibos" pro-Ibo irredendists such as the guy at NnaaMen TV and the larger Ijaw militant organizations have to understand. Jubo Jubogha [known to the Europeans as Ja-ja] himself was made to undergo the MANDATORY Ijaw initiation ceremony or rites making him into a naturalized Ijaw in Bonny after he was freed as a slave, so, I can understand the Ijaw fixation with Opobo. Jaja also fled to Opobo (originally located in Ibibioland) from Bonny in 1870 with an ethnically mixed group of followers, so, the descendants of those who make up Opobo today are a hybrid mix of ethnicities.

History has to be set straight and it's totally dishonest that these highly uninformed younger generation of online posters go about posting deliberately FORGED information and propaganda to twist the historical narrative, unknown to them, the TRUE history of that area called Opobo (originally part of the larger Ibibio port community of Ikot Abasi in Akwa Ibom State) is well-documented in the historical archives by the British Colonialists since the 1800s!

The video right BELOW shows the Amanyanabo of Opobo talk about his "kingdom" and if they are Ijaws or not despite some of the largely Ibo and Ibibio admixtures.
