diamond68: bro Kon.quest I be trying to stay incognito with these new names . Just call me Diamond 😆
As per blogs ? I don’t pay attention to all that. Whomever has a grievance with anyone let them address it . Everyone go Dey alright laslas 😆 bloggers gotta eat too I guess 🤷🏽♂️
Oh I get it, I've quickly edited my post to reflect your incognito, "below the radar" mode.
Whoa! 9 ripe plantains for 3 grands. Then how much would 9 unripe plantains cost? Where did you get these 9 plantains from?
I have a sweet tooth occasionally, BUT air fried plantains (dodo) are one of my favorite meals alongside that tectonic smoky party jolly rice infused with bay leaves, curry, thyme and more. The scent of the dodo wafting through the air from the kitchen after using the air fryer to the dining is simply stellar.
A second link right below is on cheap plantains from Cross River State. The dude offering that service said on page 8 of the thread that the plantains can be shipped to any part of Nigeria. He's actually from the West of Nigeria and grew up there but currently lives in Cross Rivers. https://www.nairaland.com/2677475/first-plantain-merchandise-lagos/7#61392145
Have you read this recent thread post below? It's a further emphasis on the FACT that the republishing of highly defamatory posts from crappie blogs or sources on this Website is NOT being tolerated anymore. Way to go.
FreeStuffsNG: 2027: ‘Stop lying at 80’, Kwankwaso blasts Atiku
Mr Kwankwaso says people 80 years old are lying, describing it as the foundation of the problems of Nigeria.
by Abubakar Ahmadu Maishanu December 30, 2024
The 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has denied being part of a purported agreement by opposition leaders to work together for the 2027 elections.
Mr Kwankwaso said the camp of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar told some northern religious and political leaders of an agreement involving him and the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, to take turns at the presidency from 2027.
In an interview with the Hausa Service of Radio France International (rfi), Mr Kwankwaso said it is unfortunate that people in their 80s are lying, describing such as the foundation of the problems of Nigeria.
“I was terrified about the information I got that the PDP are meeting clerics and other leaders and in their last meeting, which involved about 45 clerics, that we reached an agreement that Atiku (Abubakar) will serve one term, and myself will also serve one term and Peter Obi will serve two terms. This is a lie, I never took part in any agreement.
“I was deeply angered about the information. Elderly people aged 70 to 80 years will sit and lie, telling clerics and other leaders something that never happened.
“I am still alive and healthy, there is no way you can assemble over 40 people without me having two or three among them that will inform me of what transpired in the meeting. This is not good for personality to lie. In such incident, if a government is formed on the basis of lies, it’s like starting a foundation on a weak structure”, Mr Kwankwaso said.
JagabanBorgu: Buhari has said repeatedly that the delegates should decide the outcome of the election.
Tinubu said he asked Buhari to give him the go ahead to chose whoever he wants as his vice. Both Tinubu and Buhari has repeatedly cleared the air about the relationship between them but there's a group of people who keep pushing the narratives about how Buhari betrayed Tinubu, this talks made Buhari display his ballot paper after casting his votes, Tinubu took his certificate of return down to Daura to greet Buhari, they have maintained good relationship since then, yet these noise makers will never rest.
I'm very sure that the newspaper editor deliberately "twisted" what Babafemi Ojudu who is a veteran journalist said in the podcast interview just to trend online and get publicity. The podcast is available online so it would be proper to listen to it later to get a hang of the real convo.
Indeed what you CLEARLY stated in your entire post is true because PMB NEVER openly supported anybody during the APC Presidential primaries and it is getting annoying to read these crappy articles seeking to demonize Buhari and portray him in bad light. Whatever may have happened in the leadup to that Presidential election in APC should be allowed to slide and create a new beginning in the grand scheme of things because in the global political cycles, you will need foot soldiers and good economic results to win elections and reelectiond. Period.
zero8zero: Former presidential Special Adviser on Political Matters, Babafemi Ojudu, has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu outsmarted his predecessor, ex-President Muhammadu Buhari in 2022.
Ojudu said Buhari never supported his then Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo and Tinubu during the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential primary election.
He pointed out that Tinubu outsmarted Buhari in so many ways to pick the party’s ticket and eventually emerge president.
Ojudu disclosed this while featuring on Edmund Obilo’s podcast ‘State Affairs’ on Monday evening.
According to Ojudu: “I knew Osinbajo was going to lose the primary, I saw it coming. “Because of the system we operated and still operating, I kept saying at our meeting that all of the efforts we are making like traveling around, convincing people, and addressing delegates is only 40 percent.
“60 percent of it lies in Buhari’s hands unless and until Buhari mobilizes people around him, the governors, his aides, we are going nowhere. “I used to refer to Buhari as a one-man majority and he never mobilized his team towards Osinbajo and I think Tinubu outsmarted him in so many different ways.”
In the build-up to the 2023 presidential elections, there were widespread claims that Buhari preferred the then Senate President, Ahmad Lawan over Osinbajo and Tinubu.
Oluromantic: He's conversant with ogun state especially. He should extend the love to other Nigerian zones too. He'll soon bag a chieftaincy title in ogun state and I hope the UK divorce syndrome won't default this his Nigerian glory
AJ is actually a Prince from the Sagamu Royal lineage so it's NOT a surprise that he's connected to his Ogun State roots. Infact, AJ's dad speaks the Ijebu dialect of Yoruba fluently after having returned to Nigeria decades ago with his parents from the United Kingdom where he was born.
Anthony Joshua's father is the one who has mixed Yoruba paternal ancestry and Irish maternal ancestry. Anthony Olufemi Joshua's mother is however a full-blooded Yoruba woman from the same Sagamu in Ogun State.
samnet123: Anthony Joshua and his son, Joseph, both showcase their Yoruba heritage, their Yoruba culture as they greet the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun.
Whoa! AJ's son has really grown taller. How time flies. It's good that his son is in touch with his Yoruba roots in Nigeria. This is what all Diasporans of Nigerian descent must always do. Take your kids to your cultural roots at least once a year if you've got the time and use cultural immersion classes to immerse your kids in your cultures. The Indians, Chinese, Vietnamese Diaspora communities, etc, do this so well by organizing language and cultural classes for their kids in Canada, the United States, United Kingdom, etc. Times and seasons change in the real world and you NEVER know when they're gonna need the safety and business connections with their countries of ancestral origins.
A few years ago shortly before 2020, I recall that the British-Nigerian multiple Grammy Award winner, SEAL (Seal Henry Olumide Samuel), brought his first son that he had through the international super model, Heidi Klum, to Lagos to get in touch with his Yoruba roots. I saw a video of his visit to Femi Kuti's Africa Shrine in Ikeja, and he spoke with enthusiasm about his return visit to Lagos ever since leaving his hometown of Lagos Island in 1979, back to London where he was born in the early 1960s.
Morbeta11: Why NASA’s Sun-Touching Spacecraft Remains Out Of Contact
NASA’s Parker Solar Probe remains out of contact on Christmas Day after its historic achievement on Dec. 24 when it got closer to the sun than any human-made object.
The mission to “touch the sun” reached a mere 3.86 million miles (6.1 million kilometers) from the surface of the sun, the closest NASA has got to any star. It’s currently inside and helping scientists understand the sun’s mysteriously hot outer atmosphere, its corona.
However, the close pass took place on the other side of the sun, as seen from Earth’s perspective. Mission operators at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland — where the spacecraft was also designed and built — have been out of contact with Parker ever since.
Waiting For A ‘Beacon Tone’ It’s due to send a beacon tone on Dec. 27, 2024, to confirm that the probe has survived one of the most extreme environments in the solar system. It’s hoped that its robust heat shield will protect its instruments.
“No human-made object has ever passed this close to a star, so Parker will truly be returning data from uncharted territory,” said Nick Pinkine, Parker Solar Probe mission operations manager at APL. “We’re excited to hear back from the spacecraft when it swings back around the sun.”
Autonomous Design The three days out of contact with Earth was expected and planned in the design of the spacecraft. “When it is flying near the sun, it has to be 100% autonomous,” said Dr. Nour Raouafi, the project’s scientist at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, during a media roundtable at the American Geophysical Union’s annual meeting on Dec. 10, 2024. “We cannot do anything to it if it encounters any problem — it has to deal with it on its own.”
The autonomous system built into the spacecraft can continuously work for nearly two months without human intervention.
Next Status Update “This is one example of NASA’s bold missions, doing something that no one else has ever done before to answer longstanding questions about our universe,” said Arik Posner, Parker Solar Probe program scientist at NASA Headquarters in Washington. “We can’t wait to receive that first status update from the spacecraft and start receiving the science data in the coming weeks.”
Parker is traveling at 430,000 mph (690,000 kph), making it the fastest-ever human-made object, fast enough to get from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C. in one second, according to the mission’s website.
zero8zero: The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced plans to acquire 24 M-346 Fighter Ground Attack jets and 10 AW-109 Trekker Helicopters to boost its air capabilities in the fight against insurgency.
The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar made this known at the Christmas luncheon with NAF personnel on Wednesday in Maiduguri.
“In addition to the A-29 Super Tucanos, JF-17 Thunders and the T129 Attack Helicopters recently procured, the Nigeria Air Force remains committed to advancing its air capabilities to boost operational readiness,” the CAS said.
Abubakar said the current security challenges in the country required modern and versatile platforms to be addressed.
He said that NAF would continue to sustain capacity building initiatives, personnel training as well as research and development to enhance operational efficiency.
The CAS urged personnel to use the Christmas period for reflection, gratitude and unity.
“You are here in the Theatre of War standing as the true guardians of our nation’s peace and security. For that, I cannot thank you enough.
“Our concerted efforts backed by strategic planning, community engagements as well as firm resolve have incapacitated the insurgents, disrupted their activities and reduced their ability to harm innocent lives.
“Let me use this opportunity to remember our fallen heroes who have paid the supreme price in the service of our fatherland.
“We would forever hold them dear in our thoughts and hearts as heroes of the society. May their gentle souls rest in perfect peace.”
In his goodwill message to the troops, Gov. Babagana Zulum also assured them that his government and citizens of Borno had deeply appreciated their sacrifices.
The governor represented by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Prof. Usman Tar, lauded the vital role of NAF in the fight against terrorism and humanitarian support in northeast and Borno in particular.
“We cannot forget in a hurry the timely intervention of the Nigerian Air Force during the recent flood disaster in Maiduguri ranging from Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance, airlift of relief materials, medical outreaches and other welfare programmes.
“The agility and resilience you exhibited in this course is a sheer example of true spirit of service for humanity,” the governor said.
LegendHero: This was disclosed by the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari during a tour of the facility on Monday.
Before the tour of the facility began, Kyari was seen addressing the team, saying “We are taking you through our plant. This plant is running. Although it is not 100 per cent complete, we are still in the process. Many people think these things are not real. They think real things are not possible in this country. We want you to see that this is real,” Kyari said.
Among the tour team was the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Farouk Ahmen.
Located at the Ekpan, Uwvie, and Ubeji, Warri, the Petrochemical plant produces 13,000 million tons per annum (MTA) of polypropylene and 18,000 MTA of carbon black.
NLCreator: Nasir el-Rufai is using the same stale propaganda that he and his vile agents on social media used to turn Nigerians against President Jonathan. Why does he only do this when we have a Southern President? He succeeded in removing former President Jonathan. Did your life improve after Jonathan was defeated?
The lies he is peddling about President Tinubu's Yorubanisation of the government are coordinated. It is not coincidental that they are coming at the same time as the lies from the Nigerien junta leader, Abdourahamane Tchiani.
What does el-Rufai gain by turning the North against the Tinubu government?
The so-called Yorubanisation or Yorubacentricity of government under President Bola Tinubu is a myth. And if anyone chooses to push this discredited theory, Nigerians should not just accept broad accusations without data and statistics.
Ask that person to provide stats. If they cite a sector, they should give Nigerians a regional breakdown of everybody in that sector rather than making broad statements to paint a manipulative narrative that is neither creative nor supportive of our national growth.
People like el-Rufai should think twice before destabilising Nigeria. If they destroy the bond between the North and the Southwest, they will also put the glue that holds Nigeria together in disarray.
¡I honestly cannot fathom why anyone, basing their judgement on intellectual arguments alone, can truthfully accuse President Bola Tinubu of having a Yorubacentric agenda for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and the financial sector.
I would have ignored this shoddy piece of propaganda were it not for the fact that no less a personality than the former Governor of Kaduna, Nasir el-Rufai, elected to peddle this ethnic baiting dog whistle.
Coming from him, that fallacy cannot go unchallenged.
The facts do not support that argument. Even if it were true that President Bola Tinubu is considering the appointment of a Yoruba Northerner as Group Chief Executive Officer, it would still not be accurate.
Let us consider the facts. Please find below a breakdown of the current management of the NNPCL
Chief Pius Akinyelure: Non-Executive Board Chairman-Southwest Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari: Group Chief Executive Officer-Northeast Adedapo Segun: Chief Financial Officer-Southwest Mr. Ledum Mitee: Non-Executive Director-South-South Mr. Musa Tumsa: Non-Executive Director-Northeast Mr. Ghali Muhammad: Non-Executive Director-Northcentral Prof. Mustapha Aliyu: Non-Executive Director-Northwest Mr. David Ogbodo: Non-Executive Director-Southeast Ms. Eunice Thomas: Non-Executive Director-South-South
Now, if you look at the board of the NNPCL, whose members are listed above, only two board member are from the Southwest.
Now, let us look at those who have direct executive oversight authority over the NNPCL.
Heineken Lokpobori: Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil)-South-South Ekperikpe Ekpo: Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas)-South-South Ambassador Nicholas Agbo Ella: Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources-North-Central
From the above, how can anybody honestly project to the Nigerian people that President Tinubu is Yorubacentric in his appointments at the NNPCL? It beggars belief.
If there is any dominance at all, then that hegemony is in favour of the South-South, who are the most represented on the board and cabinet-level with authority over NNPCL. Then you have the Northwest, Northeast, and North-Central.
Now, even if you want to go to the ridiculous extent of scrutinising those in the lower cadre of the NNPCL, you will find that, with the exception of possibly two positions, all of those posts were filled by General Buhari.
Therefore to say that a Yoruba heads every consequential agency in finance in Nigeria is not only without basis, it is capable of causing the type of market ripples that negatively affect the All Share Index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
When you mention finance, you use a broad brush that includes revenue-generating agencies. And the highest revenue-generating agencies in Nigeria are not the Central Bank of Nigeria or the Ministry of Finance.
In Nigeria, other than the NNPCL, the Nigerian Ports Authority, the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, the Nigerian Communication Commission, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, and the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation are the top five revenue earners for the Federal Government. Please fact-check me.
Only two of these six agencies (when you add NNPCL) are headed by people from the Southwest.
The CEO of the NNPCL, Mele Kyari, is from the Northeast The CEO of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Abubakar Dantsoho, is from the Northeast The MD of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Mrs. Olubunmi Oluwaseun Kuku, is from the Southwest The CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Dr. Aminu Maida, is from the Northwest The CEO of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Dayo Mobereola, is from the Southwest The CEO of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation, Bello Hassan, is from the Northwest
Flowing from the above, where is the Yorubanisation or Yorubacentricity?
https://x.com/renoomokri/status/1873339601772757262?s=19[/quote]Reno Omokri did a VERY FANTASTIC intellectual work right ABOVE in debunking the LIES and propaganda being peddled by a lot of these random simpletons online and offline that the Yoruba folks have cornered the top positions in Tinubu's Federal appointments. He clearly pulled the layers of stinking ignorance off to show in his posts right ABOVE that the other regions of Nigeria are duly represented in government at all critical levels.
This is yet again the second time that I have seen articles or posts within 2 months that Reno has methodically and deftly used FACTS and the names of all government appointees to DESTROY the FAKE news and propaganda that Yoruba have cornered major positions in government.

This made my eyes a bit misty while watching the videos. 1978 is frozen and moving together in time and space in the attached pictures and videos. That year... I can still hear Ofege's "Wizzy Ilabo" playing from the turntable, visits to Kingsway Stores, and more memories.
Big props to Jimmy Carter for leaving his footprints in the sands of time.
malali: health and democracy around the world. It will carry the couple’s humanitarian and democratic work forward.
From his work as president and as the leader of the Carter Center, he won the Nobel Prize, the United National Human Rights Prize and many other notable awards from countries, organizations and world leaders. The Carters both were awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Bill Clinton.
”Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter,” Clinton said, “have done more good things for more people in more places than any other couple on the face of the Earth.”
Rosalynn Carter, Jimmy Carter’s wife of 77 years, died in November 2023.
One more cycle of human existence in this incarnation has ended for the iconic POTUS, Jimmy Carter.
The iconic President Jimmy Carter has indeed passed on at 100 years of age. The former U.S. Navy top gun and President Obasanjo were both close friends and he was a friend to Nigeria and Africa.
I remember when President Ronald Reagan took over from Jimmy Carter in January 1981 (after failing in his bid to get reelected as the President of the United States), he simply moved on and offered his services in other areas of life globally as an election observer, a public speaker, a global health advocate, and a peace maker culminating in him winning the Nobel Peace Price. That was a mindset that was filled with unlimited possibilities.
My condolences go out to Jimmy Carter's entire family, and all the people who were inspired by the good works he did worldwide.

Cmeo: President-elect Trump on Saturday congratulated Florida State Rep. Hillary Cassel (R) for switching parties to the GOP this month.
“Congratulations to Hillary Cassel for becoming the second State Representative from the Great State of Florida to switch her Party affiliation from Democrat to Republican, once more expanding the GOP Supermajority in the State House!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
Cassel is the second former state House Democrat to leave the party this month.
“As a proud Jewish woman, I have been increasingly troubled by the Democratic Party’s failure to unequivocally support Israel and its willingness to tolerate extreme progressive voices that justify or condone acts of terrorism,” Cassel said. “I’m constantly troubled by the inability of the current Democratic Party to relate to everyday Floridians.”
“I can no longer remain in a party that doesn’t represent my values,” she continued.
Her decision followed a party switch from state Rep. Susan Valdés (R), who left the Democratic party after losing a bid to become the chair of the Hillsborough County Democratic Party. Valdés said she did not want to spend what would be her final two years in the state Legislature “being ignored” in a caucus with leaders expecting her to ignore her community’s needs.
Republicans already hold supermajorities in both chambers of the Florida Legislature, though Valdés and Cassel’s moves add to the growing GOP dominance in a state that less than a decade ago was still considered competitive.
In the post, Trump called on “disillusioned” Democrats, suggesting they should join the GOP.
“I would further like to invite other Disillusioned Democrats to switch Parties, and join us on this noble quest to Save our Country and, Make America Great Again – GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE. THANK YOU HILLARY!” Trump wrote.
Goodday90: The Oluwo of Iwo, Osun State, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has supported the plan to introduce Sharia law in the South-West.
According to him, Sharia law has been in practice in Yoruba land for a long time.
This came after an Islamic organisation planned the inauguration of a Sharia council scheduled for January 11, 2025, at the Muslim Community Islamic Centre, Oba Adeyemi High School Road, Mobolaje Area, Oyo, Oyo State.
But the inauguration has been postponed indefinitely following public outcry.
The event drew criticism from a cross-section of Nigerians, with many arguing that the predominantly Yoruba South-West was distinct from the northern region, where Muslims were in the majority.
Speaking to Sunday PUNCH, Oba Akanbi, noted that Sharia law was already in Yoruba land.
He said, “We have Sharia banks in the South-West, and these banks operate according to Sharia law. Sharia law has been in Iwo for over 100 years, and there is a Sharia college in Iwo. It’s the right of Muslims to choose customary law or the high court.
Many Muslims feel disenfranchised when it comes to the sharing of inheritance and divorce matters. Western education doesn’t understand the ways of Muslim divorce, marriage, and inheritance. Sharia law is in the constitution of Nigeria, and it’s visible in the North, where there are Nigerians. Anywhere we have Muslims, there is Sharia.”
Oba Akanbi stressed that Sharia law was only for Muslims and did not concern others.
“If any other person likes it, they can convert to Islam, and Muslims can also convert to Christianity. Everyone is free. Sharia shouldn’t be a problem for other religions. No government can deny Muslims their inalienable rights,” he explained. https://punchng.com/oluwo-canvasses-support-for-sharia-law-in-swest/
tope777: This same incident happened to us on Arik Air PHC-Lagos 24th December 2008 around 8pm. I remember the sudden noice from engine section like noise from bursted tyre as announcement was made that we just had birth strike.
I remember the chanting of Jesus, Allah and a sort of prayers that night.
Thank God for the wisdom of the pilot who manageably return the flight back to Phc safely.
Finally, a senator from Edo State latter declare free drink at the Airport when we landed. We boarded another plane sent to portharcourt around 11pm that night.
Meerahbel: Earning money is difficult whereas spending money is easy. So, it is necessary to spend judiciously. I have seen that sometimes a richer person is unable to manage his expenses because of extravagance whereas a poorer person manages is expenses successfully. A person should spend in such a way that he can save some money for future. Some guidelines for spending judiciously is given below:
Lessons 1. Don’t buy what you don’t need 2. Don’t borrow to buy wasting assets 3. Have a saving habit; it helps you in rainy day 4. Don’t try to impress anybody with your clothes or cars 5. Avoid friends who make you go into debt because you want to belong. 6. Have annual financial plans
Lastly, salary is never enough. Put your money in assets that can yield returns. such as Money Mutual funds, T-Bills, Digital Assets etc
NIGERIA UPDATE: Waziri Adio, my Kennedy School classmate, on the proposed (2025) budget and related matters - Every citizen must read this treatise. - @elrufai
“There are other curious items I have seen in the proposed budget. One glaring example is the plan to transfer N146.14 billion to MOFI (Ministry of Finance Incorporated) as counterpart funding for the Lagos Green Line Metro Rail Phase 1.
This raises many questions.
The proposed allocation for the metro-line within a state is 65% of the capital budget and 57% of the entire budget of the Ministry of Transport.
If this is counterpart funding from a recapitalised MOFI, why is the money coming from the budget of a federal ministry?
Why can’t MOFI raise its counterpart funding from the market?
How was the decision arrived at that this is a project to invest federal money into and will such facility be available to other states outside of Lagos?”
GistMedia0: A young Nigerian man was left distraught after his newly purchased luxury car, a GLK Benz, which he claimed he bought for 27 million naira, was severely damaged following a dramatic encounter with police officers in Benin, Nigeria.
According to reports, the incident began when the policemen allegedly spotted the young man driving the luxury vehicle. Suspecting him of wrongdoing, they launched a high-speed chase in an attempt to arrest him. The pursuit took a dangerous turn as the young man, while trying to evade the officers, lost control of the car and collided with another vehicle. The crash left his prized Benz severely damaged, alongside the other vehicle.
Visibly heartbroken, the young man repeatedly cried out, claiming, "I did nothing to them. They just started chasing me for no reason!" Eyewitnesses at the scene corroborated his claim, stating that the officers appeared to be acting without provocation.
As a crowd gathered around the wreckage, the police officers were seen attempting to explain their actions to the growing number of onlookers, who angrily accused them of recklessness and unnecessary aggression.
AmazingGenius: The Nigerian naira is projected to depreciate to a weighted fair value of N1,804.45 in the coming year as tendency of volatility persists.
This is according to a new report by Lagos-based investment and research firm Afrinvest titled ‘Beyond The Rhetorics: Transforming Reforms to Tangibles.
The research company revealed that while the gross foreign reserves have risen above $40 billion, “we anticipate that exchange rate volatility would persist in 2025 albeit at a modest pace.”
“Our prognosis is hinged on the belief that the CBN would be constrained from adequately meeting market demand on a sustained basis, as the recent FX reserves accretion were largely driven by inflows from inorganic sources, including those with stringent conditions on usability,” it said.
This prediction comes against the backdrop of the nation’s 2025 budget which assumes that the exchange rate would steady at N1,400 against the dollar.
The naira closed on a positive note this week though strengthening from N1,548.40/$1 as at the eve of Christmas to N1,534/$1 on Friday, 27th December, according to data compiled from the FMDQ Securities.
The local currency has had its steepest fall in 2024, plunging to almost N2000 against the greenback on the street in February while trading at about N1,700 on the official window.
This was the aftermath of the radical reforms implemented by the federal government – floating the currency and a two time devaluation of the naira has seen the local unit lose over 40 percent of its value year to date.
In recent times, the market has been relatively stable and transparency has been restored on the back of the FX BMatch introduced in October.
Economists have said the sustenance of the EFEMS and a more expansive net reserves could party ease the pressure on the naira.
Analysts at Afrinvest however stated that the naira may appreciate should there be more inflows and liquidity, especially from crude oil exports and remittances.
“Notwithstanding, we do not rule out the possibility of a significant rebound in the Naira, especially if accretion from organic sources-crude oil & non-crude oil exports, foreign capital flows, and diaspora remittances- takes significant leap,” the report stated.
AmazingGenius: “Instead, we heard the same old narrative of external threats and unfounded claims of terrorist camps supervised by the French.
“You asserted that camps have been established for training terrorists in Burkina Faso and Niger—concluding that by the end of 2024, at least 400 terrorists will be trained under French supervision.
“If you possess accurate information about these camps, why do you not coordinate efforts to dismantle them instead of using this information merely as a talking point?
“You must recognise that none of the leaders you’ve insulted have retaliated; you have disparaged leaders from countries like Tanzania, Mauritania, Chad and others. If your assertions hold any truth, how can we possibly survive more than 24 hours amidst the threats you mention?
Namu accused the President of disregarding humanitarian crises in the country, including flooding and the displacement of thousands of Nigeriens due to terrorism.
Citing data, Namu highlighted that 4,673,335 people currently face hardships, while 2,312 lives have been lost to terrorist attacks since the coup.
Another popular Nigerien commentator, Hamid Ahmadu, said Tchiani’s statements lacked logic, and cited his reference to Tanzania in East Africa as an example of his lack of understanding of geography.
Like Namu, Ahmadu wondered why Tchiani failed to take action against the terrorist hubs he claimed were set up to destabilise the country despite having intelligence of their precise locations.
Some other citizens called for accountability, transparency and a return to governance that prioritises Niger’s development and security.
Nigerian defence expert Zagazola reported on his X handle @ZagazOlaMakama yesterday of an alleged WhatsApp message purportedly originating from the Nigerien military authorities.
The message, shared in a group with military personnel loyal to the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP) allegedly outlines instructions to boost support for the junta by spreading claims that France, in connivance with neighboring countries like Nigeria, is planning an attack on Niger.
The message allegedly says: “Go support the CNSP on social networks and audio. Heat up the Facebook. You sleep too much; we feel discouraged. This is not the time.
“Need to make a budget; we have a meeting with the 5 gallon and the gegene. The instruction showed the Pekin population that they want to attack us. Turn on the radio badass.”
No trace of French military base in Borno, says Zagazola
Zagazola, who is embedded in Nigeria’s North East, also reported yesterday that there is no trace of any French military base anywhere in Borno State, contrary to claims by Tchiani.
He said: “The assertion that French forces are operating in areas like Kurnawa, Kangarwa and Dogon Chikun is unfounded. These regions are known to be occupied by ISWAP (Islamic State West Africa Province) terrorists, who have been actively terrorising local populations.”
This Niger Republic military goon who is just 17 months in power has out of frustration been copying from the manipulation and distraction playbook of the highly corrupt Sani Abacha and his fellow evil military dictators of the past out of the desperation of NOT being able to deal with the JNIM Jihadi groups crossing from Mali to Niger Republic to wreak havoc in the absence of any major assistance from Russia which has it's own issues to deal with.
The chicken has indeed finally come home to roost for the impressionable Nigerien citizens who were jubilating and supporting the military dictators in Niger Republic and Mali right into Burkina Faso. These 3 countries have clearly been overun by the JNIM Islamist Jihadi group linked to the criminal Al-Qaeda group
Military rule has NEVER been the best for ANY African country including the military dictatorships of Latin America back in the 1970s and 1970s because they often take rash decisions without thinking through.

Care4: The solution is not in farming season, we have to improve storage of excess harvest at farming season and increase dry season farming. All year farming is the way out... irrigation, green house, improved variety for dry season, etc.
Very well said.
Post-harvest loses reduction and eventual eradication is key (through value addition until when needed for actual use by the industries or for home use).
