A speeding vehicle flew through the air and landed in the side of at two-story building after the driver lost control of the vehicle, igniting a small fire with two people inside in Southern California on Sunday morning.


One person was still trapped inside the vehicle as of 6.45 am Pacific, according to the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA).


The other individual had already gotten out of the car, which was lodged into the side of an office building in Santa Ana.


Los Angeles County Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) was able to free the other individual in the vehicle, after the person was trapped for more than an hour inside the dangling car, Captain Stephen Horner of the Orange County Fire Authority told the Daily Mail.



Then the rescue team went to work, to get that other individual safely out of the vehicle.


'USAR was able to access the passenger door,' Horner said.


'They used a front loader from the city of Santa Ana to stablize the vehicle and the members of USAR were able to gain access and pull the vicitm out from the passenger side of the vehicle safety.'

A former Head of Operations at Access Bank, Obinna Nwaobi, has been arraigned before the Federal High Court in Enugu State for allegedly diverting a customer’s $510,000 and forging a document.

This was disclosed in a statement posted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday.

The Enugu Zonal Directorate of the EFCC, on Thursday, arraigned Nwaobi before Justice F. O. Giwa-Ogunbanjo, where he pleaded not guilty to the allegations.

EFCC Allegation

According to the EFCC, the case began on September 11, 2024, when the Commission received a petition from Access Bank Plc alerting the agency to unauthorized transfers from a customer’s account.

“According to the petitioner, the sum of $510,000 belonging to its customer, Lantern Gate Nigeria Limited, was moved into six different accounts on the authorization of Obinna Nwaobi, its Head of Operations at that time, without the approval of the customer,” the EFCC statement partly reads.

The bank stated that the alleged breach—coupled with the customer’s representatives explicitly denying issuing any instruction for the transfer—raised concerns and prompted further investigation.

The defendant was subsequently arraigned on a nine-count charge bordering on forgery and criminal diversion of $510,000 belonging to the bank’s customer, Lantern Gate Nigeria Limited.

The Commission contended that the action contravened Section 1(b) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.

What Transpired in Court

At the resumed proceedings, the defendant pleaded “not guilty” to all the charges, paving the way for trial.

However, defence counsel, F. C. Obinna, drew the court’s attention to a bail application dated October 24, 2025. He adopted the application and urged the court to grant bail on liberal terms.

But counsel to the EFCC, Assistant Commander of the EFCC Adaka Ekwu, opposed the application through an 11-paragraph counter-affidavit filed on November 12, 2025.

He urged the court to reject the application, stressing that “the quality of evidence we have in our proof of evidence might put fear in him, and he might want to abscond.”

What the Court Said

After listening to both parties, the court granted the defendant bail in the sum of N250 million (Two Hundred and Fifty Million Naira) with three sureties in like sum, according to the EFCC.

The court held that two of the sureties must have landed properties in Enugu State, and the documents of those properties must be deposited with the court.

“The third surety shall be a relative of the defendant, who shall deposit evidence of tax payment for three years. The defendant and the sureties shall each deposit two passport photographs, while the defendant shall deposit his international passport and National Identification Number with the court until the determination of this case,” the judge was quoted as saying.

The matter was adjourned to March 10, 11, and 12, 2026, for trial, while the defendant was remanded at the Nigeria Correctional Service facility in Enugu pending the perfection of his bail conditions.

A Chinese woman known as the "Bitcoin queen" was sentenced in London to 11 years and eight months in jail for laundering Bitcoin from a £5.5 billion ($7.3 billion) cryptocurrency investment scheme.

The sentence follows a seven-year investigation by the Met's Economic Crime team into international money laundering, which revealed that the 47-year-old woman, Zhimin Qian (also known as Yadi Zhang), was the head of a large-scale fraud campaign that defrauded over 128,000 victims in China between 2014 and 2017.

This action also led to the seizure of 61,000 Bitcoin worth hundreds of millions of pounds at the time and now valued at roughly £5.5 billion, the largest cryptocurrency seizure in Britain's history.

Another member of the fraud ring, 47-year-old Seng Hok Ling of Matlock, Derbyshire, was sentenced to four years and 11 months in prison for transferring criminal property (cryptocurrency) under the Proceeds of Crime Act (2002).

"She went on to convert a portion of the illegally obtained funds into cash, jewellery and Bitcoin, before fleeing to the UK under an assumed identity," the Met said in a Tuesday press release.

"Following intelligence in 2018 about the attempted realisation of criminal assets in London, investigators worked tirelessly to build a case of evidence against her."

The UK's seizure of 61,000 Bitcoin, worth $7.3 billion, is now the largest single cryptocurrency seizure in history after surpassing the U.S. Justice Department's 2022 confiscation of over 94,000 Bitcoin related to the Bitfinex hack, valued at approximately $3.6 billion.

Qian raised over 40 billion yuan from around 130,000 Chinese investors as the mastermind behind a scam network that promised them high returns of 100%–300%.

She earned the nickname "Bitcoin queen" in China for promoting Bitcoin as "digital gold." After her scheme collapsed in 2017, she converted all the proceeds to Bitcoin and fled to the United Kingdom, where she attempted to launder the cryptocurrency through property purchases with the help of an associate named Jian Wen.

However, Qian and Ling were arrested in 2024, when law enforcement also seized assets worth £11 million ($14.4 million), including cryptocurrency wallets, encrypted devices, cash, and gold. Wen was also sentenced to six years and eight months in prison on May 22, 2024, for her role in the scheme.

"There is no doubt this is one of the largest and most complex economic crime investigations we have ever undertaken, and today's sentence would not have been possible without working closely with our partners from the Crown Prosecution Service, National Crime Agency and Chinese law enforcement," said Will Lyne, the Met's Head of Economic and Cybercrime Command.

"Organised crime groups are using cryptocurrency to move, hide, and invest the profits of serious crime - but every crypto transaction leaves a trace, and the Met works meticulously with partners to follow that digital trail, identify assets and bring offenders to justice."
