Interpol declares convicted Nigerian rapist wanted Jim

The wanted Nigerian Timloh Butchang Nkem
The International Police (Interpol) has declared a Nigerian wanted for rape.

Timloh Butchang Nkem, is wanted by the Canadian judicial authorities for raping a girl at the University of Saskatchewan on January 1 2012.

He was arrested, tried and convicted of rape but escaped from sentencing, according to a mother, Kathy Mahar, who claimed to be the mother of the victim.

Charges were brought against Nkem on December 13, 2012.

The victim testified at his trial in early June 2014 and on September 16, 2014 the accused was found guilty of sexual assault.

He is believed to be the son of a Nigerian diplomat identified as Timloh B Nkem.

The suspect was described as heinous and a threat to all citizens.

My name is Kathy Mahar and I am writing from Saskatoon Saskatchewan Canada. The reason for my writing today is in regards to Timloh Butchang Nkem. Timloh was convicted of Raping my daughter after drugging her at The University of Saskatchewan Residence on New Year’s Eve into New Years Day 2011/12.

Timloh fled before sentencing and he may have entered back into Nigeria using false PassPort.

He is a violent offender who was also convicted of possession of illegal substance, fraud, identity theft and stealing numerous credit cards.

His behavior is heinous, and a threat to all Citizens, male and female. My daughter was unconscious when he committed the violent act of rape and sodomy.

You will find numerous news articles about him and the crimes he committed.

It is our understanding that his father is Timloh B Nkem who has held Diplomat and other Titles with Nigerian Government.

Please assist in finding the whereabouts of this rapist, thief, dangerous man.

Although we are aware Canada does not have an Extradition Agreement with Nigeria, it is in the best interest of all if he is apprehended. If he entered Nigeria under an assumed name, that demonstrates his continual criminal behavior.

Method:

Put the yam to boil, when it has cooked right about halfway, add the ripe plantains.

Before you pound ensure that both the yams and the plantains have cooked through till soft.

Start to pound the yam first because of its pulp and stretchy nature, once almost smooth, add the ripe plantain.

Once you have gotten both ingredients to a smooth consistency, add a little salt and palm oil.

The mash is still hot, which will take away the curdling taste of palm oil.

Finish off the pounding, until the palm oil properly mixes well, changing the colour to yellow.

A man manipulated a store attendant into releasing goods worth N1,880,000 to him.

The man visited a phone and accessories store called Royalline Technology in Lekki Phase 1 on June 5.

He asked for two iPhone15s and the attendant told him they did not have them at the moment but it would be available in the coming days.

She tried to encourage him to buy a different phone with similar capabilities but he insisted that he wanted two iPhone 15 phones because he is a "Reverend Father" and his parish priest asked him to get a similar phone.

Eventually, he agreed to substitute one of the iPhones with a Samsung s24 Ultra, which the store attendant told him was available in their second store in Sangotedo.

He offered to drive the attendant to the other store to pick up the phone and also make payment via a bank along the way.

According to the store attendant, they entered a bank and he claimed he had initiated a transfer. When the store attendant approached the bank cashier after not getting a credit alert, the cashier informed her that the customer said he had money coming in from another bank and they would transfer the money to the store's account once the customer's account was credited.

The attendant said she then took the customer to the other store and they picked up the Samsung s24 Ultra. He also took a Samsung s24 Ultra pouch, Oraimo power bank, and a DiGiPhone charger, all working N1.88m.

When they returned, she followed him to the bank but he went in alone. When he came out, he showed her a receipt showing he transferred N3,591,000 for the Samsung s24 Ultra, the iPhone 15, and the accessories.

He said he made payment in advance for the iPhone and would return the following day for it.

The store attendant said though she did not receive an alert that his money had entered the store's account, she allowed him to leave with the goods after he took her to a Catholic church close by and claimed that's the parish he's with. She said she saw him go into the church to drop something, though she stayed outside.

After he left the store with his goods, she realised she had made a mistake and she went inside the church, asking for a man named Destiny, but they said they did not know him.

She called the number that he gave and the man promised to return, but he switched off his phone after that.

The case has been reported to the police and the store has shared CCTV footage of the man with the hopes of finding him.

A 41-year-old Canadian lady Adrienne Munju has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA Ikeja Lagos for importing large consignment of ‘Canadian Loud’, a strong strain of synthetic cannabis.


The spokesperson of the agency, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

“The suspect was arrested during the inward clearance of passengers on KLM airline flight from Canada at the terminal 1 of the Lagos airport on Thursday 3rd October 2024,” the statement read.

"During a joint examination of her three bags, Adrienne who was coming to Nigeria for the first time was found with 74 parcels of the illicit substance weighing 35.20 kilograms stuffed in two of her three bags.

"In her statement, she claimed she was recruited to traffic the consignment through an online platform for 10,000 Canadian dollars upon successful delivery in Lagos.

“She said she took the offer because she needed the money to pay for her ongoing master’s degree programme in Canada."

Okay here is the story.

One of my best friends who is expected to get married this year just called me for hours with regards to his plans.

So my friend to take his relationship more seriously decided to visit his fiancé's family so they know him. Before then, the fiancé had told him that her father is a former Baptist but has stopped being religious and sometimes does traditional practices. On the day of him visiting her home, he was welcomed even bought gifts for the dad and mum. But he said his spirit was very uncomfortable in that house.

My friend played cool, the father even asked of his church and he told him. The father proudly said he is a traditional man. Nigeria bears the world’s largest burden of sickle cell disease, with many patients suffering life-threatening complications from childhood. The new programme at LUTH builds on previous efforts, including the establishment of a post-transplant clinic in 2019, the first of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa, to care for patients who had undergone transplants abroad. “Recognising the gaps in care for individuals affected by the disease in Nigeria, SCFN and LUTH established a bone marrow transplant programme,” the statement read.

Bone marrow transplant, using a donor from a family member, is considered a cure for sickle cell disease but is associated with risks such as infection, infertility, and graft-versus-host disease. However, advancements in the procedure over the last 20 years have significantly improved outcomes. “Bone marrow transplant is now an approved therapy for children and adults with severe sickle cell disease,” the statement noted.

The first set of patients began receiving treatment at LUTH in late August 2024. These patients were prepared with exchange blood transfusions, chemotherapy, and anti-infective treatments before the infusion of stem cells harvested from family donors. “Both patients are currently undergoing immediate post-transplant care within the transplant unit at LUTH,” the statement said.

The programme is supported by experts from Vanderbilt University Medical Centre and Imperial College London, with plans to expand access to this life-saving procedure. LUTH and SCFN also expressed their gratitude to partners including Chevron, Lagos State Government, and other contributors for their support in launching the initiative.

2 things.

1) There are a lot of energy companies that are now building CNG stations and the NMDPRA have stated that they will not issue new licenses for petrol stations unless the petrol stations also have CNG pumps.

2) The issue of controlling the fares of public transport operators is in the hands of the state governments and some state governments have actually gone ahead to regulate the prices (I think Ogun State, which has taken the lead in the CNG and EV campaign, has done that and some other states too). I will post articles about that in my next thread.

The reason that I didn't bother responding to that post is because the issue was addressed right inside the first article. There are 2 sets of companies that are involved in this CNG programme, you have (1) energy companies that sell CNG and (2) you have car and engineering companies that carry out conversions.

One of the engineering companies stated that it sells CNG for 450, but that is because it buys it from an energy company. It was also stated that other companies sell CNG for around 200 to 250.



Basically, as I wrote somewhere else on the thread, it is a free market. If one company sells at a price that you don't like, sack it and go to another company.

If you haven’t already, you might do soon, because they’re examples of Nigerian cooking that are rapidly moving into the mainstream of UK dining.

Nigerian restaurants are appearing on the high street and the vibrant West African cuisine is hitting the supermarket shelves, with Sainsbury's offering ready-made meals of popular Nigerian dishes such as Gizdodo, Eforiro and Ayamase.

“The big trend we have observed over the past eight years or so is the rise of west African and specifically Nigerian fine dining restaurants,” says Lumina Intelligence, market researchers specialising in the restaurant sector.

The Nigerian foodservice market is estimated to be worth $10bn in 2024 and is expected to reach $17bn in 2029.

A 2018 BBC report from food experts predicted West African food will be "the next big food trend” and a few years later it is excelling.


What makes Nigerian food stand out?

Known for its vivid colours, bold flavours and unique textures, it's food for sharing, bringing people together. It's often eaten using your hands.

If you went into a Nigerian restaurant, you might be tempted to try dishes such as:

Efo riro – a native vegetable stew commonly of the Yoruba people. The spinach-based stew is cooked in a thick oil. It has a red sauce with different types of meats or no meat, depending on preference.

Fufu – pounded cassava and boiled water mixed together to form a thickness that accompanies traditional stews. Other popular variations of fufu are amala, eba or semolina.
Moi moi - this is a boiled bean pudding made with a mixture of peeled black-eyed beans, onions, egg, red peppers, and often fish.
Gizdodo – a combination of gizzard, bell peppers, onions and fried plantains mixed in a tomato-based stew.

Ayamase – a very spicy stew with an assortment of tender meats, locust beans, boiled egg and blended peppers. This is eaten with rice and plantain.

The rise of Nigerian food reflects the UK’s growing Nigerian community. It’s been boosted by viral TikTok trends of people trying dishes. Interest has also been heightened by some high-profile fans.

Hugh Jackman, the Australian movie star, was spotted at Nigerian chain restaurant Enish in London’s Oxford Street last year, after his children recommended it. Enish now has branches across the world, from Dubai to Lewisham.

Beyonce’s charity, the Beygood Foundation, donated £8,000, which helped siblings Emeka and Iffy Frederick continue sharing Nigerian cuisine at their Chuku’s restaurant in north London.

It helped a restaurant that had opened just before the Covid pandemic to survive through the “absolute nightmare” of lockdown.

Chuku’s, which claims to be the world’s first Nigerian tapas restaurant, describes its ethos as sharing the best of Nigerian culture with feel-good vibes.

Michelin star chef, Adejoké (Joké) Bakare, made gastronomic history earlier this year by becoming the UK’s first black female chef to win a Michelin star and only the second in the world.

Joké opened Chishuru in Brixton in September 2020 as a three-month pop-up, after winning the Brixton Village competition in south London. Following a rave review from food critic, Jay Rayner, the pop-up became permanent.

Joké then operated pop-ups at a series of central London venues, before moving Chishuru to its permanent new home in London’s West End in September 2023.

She hopes this recognition means Michelin will "start looking at the continent".

Growing popularity
Among the new wave of Nigerian restaurants is Tasty African Food, which has recently opened its 28th branch in Sittingbourne, Kent.

Business development manager, Simi Olaleye, said the growing interest in exploring Nigerian food is due to “people’s palate changing and the world becoming more international”.

“A lot of customers want to try African food... they are already familiar with our music and culture with the likes of Wizkid and Burna Boy,” he said.

“When you try West African food, Nigerian food in particular, especially our jollof rice, moi moi, our suya, it has an authentic taste to it.”

Food is about sharing cultures, with cooking often a gateway to finding out about other communities in a way that’s as natural as the food on the plate.

People might want to try out new flavours and then find they’re biting into a whole culture and history.

Nigeria is the biggest population in Africa and over 270,000 Nigerians in England and Wales.
