The Ijebus, Aworis and Ogus who are the primary indigenes of the 20 LGAs in Lagos State must take action now. Many indigenes of Lagos State such as the first Military Governor (when Lagos State was first created from the Western Region by Gen Yakubu Gowon on May 27, 1967) Brigadier General Mobolaji Johnson, Olabode George, Group Captain Gbolahan Mudashiru, and my cousin whose paternal roots is from Epe who was an officer in the Medical Corp of the Nigerian Army (and many more) have in the past joined the Army, Navy, Airforce despite being from privileged family backgrounds, so, there is a vast opportunity out there for Lagos State indigenes to unleash their academic and warrior potentials in the Armed Forces.
Backstory Interpol declares convicted Nigerian rapist wanted Jim
The wanted Nigerian Timloh Butchang Nkem The International Police (Interpol) has declared a Nigerian wanted for rape.
Timloh Butchang Nkem, is wanted by the Canadian judicial authorities for raping a girl at the University of Saskatchewan on January 1 2012.
He was arrested, tried and convicted of rape but escaped from sentencing, according to a mother, Kathy Mahar, who claimed to be the mother of the victim.
Charges were brought against Nkem on December 13, 2012.
The victim testified at his trial in early June 2014 and on September 16, 2014 the accused was found guilty of sexual assault.
He is believed to be the son of a Nigerian diplomat identified as Timloh B Nkem.
The suspect was described as heinous and a threat to all citizens.
My name is Kathy Mahar and I am writing from Saskatoon Saskatchewan Canada. The reason for my writing today is in regards to Timloh Butchang Nkem. Timloh was convicted of Raping my daughter after drugging her at The University of Saskatchewan Residence on New Year’s Eve into New Years Day 2011/12.
Timloh fled before sentencing and he may have entered back into Nigeria using false PassPort.
He is a violent offender who was also convicted of possession of illegal substance, fraud, identity theft and stealing numerous credit cards.
His behavior is heinous, and a threat to all Citizens, male and female. My daughter was unconscious when he committed the violent act of rape and sodomy.
You will find numerous news articles about him and the crimes he committed.
It is our understanding that his father is Timloh B Nkem who has held Diplomat and other Titles with Nigerian Government.
Please assist in finding the whereabouts of this rapist, thief, dangerous man.
Although we are aware Canada does not have an Extradition Agreement with Nigeria, it is in the best interest of all if he is apprehended. If he entered Nigeria under an assumed name, that demonstrates his continual criminal behavior.
Timloh Butchang Nkem (born in 1988). Plateau paternal descent but the Nkem family name (or surname) is a popular name of Ibo ethnic origin though.
Regardless, this Interpol alert ought to have gone out long ago since that heinous rape crime was committed in 2012 when he was 24-years of age. His alleged diplomat father (Timloh B. Nkem) MUST ensure his son surrenders.
This male rapist is a violent offender who according to the crime news report was also convicted of possession of illegal substance (hard drugs), FRAUD, IDENTITY THEFT and stealing numerous credit cards. It's also very possible this rapist may have stolen the identity of the diplomat's family because it's inconceivable that a top diplomat would allow his biological son to just walk freely after commiting heinous crimes in Canada.
As long as that boy is walking around alive, he's a security risk to all women who are NOT biologically related to him because he'll use the same format of drugging them to have his way. Period.
Called Kpangbudu by Arogbo-ijaws, Onunu by the Kalabari-Ijaws, known as Ipopoburu by Okrika-Ijaws, Ebubu by Nembe-Ijaws and fondly called Opopo by the Ibani-Ijaw people.
Onunu is a traditional delicacy of the Ijaws.
This Ijaw very rich meal is a mixture of over riped plantain and yam boiled and pounded together with a little salt and the best quality palm oil to blend.
Onunu is best served with a spicy fish pepper soup, yellow soup or native stew.
You want to learn how to prepare ONUNU?
Here are the ingredients and method of preparation.
INGREDIENTS •Yam •Ripe plantain •Palm oil
Method:
Put the yam to boil, when it has cooked right about halfway, add the ripe plantains.
Before you pound ensure that both the yams and the plantains have cooked through till soft.
Start to pound the yam first because of its pulp and stretchy nature, once almost smooth, add the ripe plantain.
Once you have gotten both ingredients to a smooth consistency, add a little salt and palm oil.
The mash is still hot, which will take away the curdling taste of palm oil.
Finish off the pounding, until the palm oil properly mixes well, changing the colour to yellow. Excellence! Your delicious Onunu is ready.
Newlymarried: A man manipulated a store attendant into releasing goods worth N1,880,000 to him.
The man visited a phone and accessories store called Royalline Technology in Lekki Phase 1 on June 5.
He asked for two iPhone15s and the attendant told him they did not have them at the moment but it would be available in the coming days.
She tried to encourage him to buy a different phone with similar capabilities but he insisted that he wanted two iPhone 15 phones because he is a "Reverend Father" and his parish priest asked him to get a similar phone.
Eventually, he agreed to substitute one of the iPhones with a Samsung s24 Ultra, which the store attendant told him was available in their second store in Sangotedo.
He offered to drive the attendant to the other store to pick up the phone and also make payment via a bank along the way.
According to the store attendant, they entered a bank and he claimed he had initiated a transfer. When the store attendant approached the bank cashier after not getting a credit alert, the cashier informed her that the customer said he had money coming in from another bank and they would transfer the money to the store's account once the customer's account was credited.
The attendant said she then took the customer to the other store and they picked up the Samsung s24 Ultra. He also took a Samsung s24 Ultra pouch, Oraimo power bank, and a DiGiPhone charger, all working N1.88m.
When they returned, she followed him to the bank but he went in alone. When he came out, he showed her a receipt showing he transferred N3,591,000 for the Samsung s24 Ultra, the iPhone 15, and the accessories.
He said he made payment in advance for the iPhone and would return the following day for it.
The store attendant said though she did not receive an alert that his money had entered the store's account, she allowed him to leave with the goods after he took her to a Catholic church close by and claimed that's the parish he's with. She said she saw him go into the church to drop something, though she stayed outside.
After he left the store with his goods, she realised she had made a mistake and she went inside the church, asking for a man named Destiny, but they said they did not know him.
She called the number that he gave and the man promised to return, but he switched off his phone after that.
The case has been reported to the police and the store has shared CCTV footage of the man with the hopes of finding him.
A 41-year-old Canadian lady Adrienne Munju has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA Ikeja Lagos for importing large consignment of ‘Canadian Loud’, a strong strain of synthetic cannabis.
The spokesperson of the agency, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, October 6, 2024.
“The suspect was arrested during the inward clearance of passengers on KLM airline flight from Canada at the terminal 1 of the Lagos airport on Thursday 3rd October 2024,” the statement read.
"During a joint examination of her three bags, Adrienne who was coming to Nigeria for the first time was found with 74 parcels of the illicit substance weighing 35.20 kilograms stuffed in two of her three bags.
"In her statement, she claimed she was recruited to traffic the consignment through an online platform for 10,000 Canadian dollars upon successful delivery in Lagos.
That statement is enough to call forth the stoners to take aim, yet it is a provable fact. And if Jesus is indeed Zeus, then that opens to us the whole world of mythology in which to seek ,that we may find the secret of life itself. So let us look at the evidence, and you decide.
JESUS IS THE SUN GOD
This statement is proved by the Bible. In Revelation 3:14 , Jesus is speaking, and refers to himself as "the Amen".
Amen Ra is the name of an Egyptian Sun God. This is borne out in Matthew 2:15. The scripture states that Joseph took Jesus to Egypt to fulfill the prophecy, " out of Egypt have I called my son". In other discussions with you, I have shown you how the life of Jesus duplicates the trajectory of the Sun in the sky. Also the fact that in Greek, the name Jesus has the numerical value of 888, which is the number of the mythical Sun.
THE RAM HEAD SUN GOD
Amen Ra is a specific Egyptian Sun God. It is the Ram Head Sun God. The part that is interesting here is that the Ram Head Sun God, in Greece, is connected with Zeus. In the Bible, Jesus is the Lamb of God.
THE ZEUS-JESUS CONNECTION
Now that we have established a connection between Jesus, Amen Ra, and Zeus, let us look into the mythology of Greece and see some striking similarities.
JESUS TO EGYPT/ZEUS TO CRETE
When Jesus was born, the wicked King Herod was killing all the children because he was afraid that Jesus would overthrow his kingdom. When Zeus was born, his wicked father Kronos was swallowing the newborns because he was afraid that Zeus was going to overthrow his kingdom. Jesus was taken to Egypt to escape from Herod. Zeus was taken to Crete to escape from Kronos.
Bump.
This is a nice thread which further emphasizes the kind of intellectually sound folks we used to have on Nairaland back in the 2000s.
The modern English language Bible translation of "Son of God" is actually the "SUN of God" in the original Greek manuscripts.
"SON" is a corruption of "SUN." This provided a dilemma for the translators, so, they changed SUN of God in the old Greek texts or manuscripts to SON of God in English. The Sun God worship is the most successful religion that has survived till today and the mass of practioners of the different Christian religions still don't know this but like to take aim at paganism NOT realizing that they are the TRUE embodiment of ancient paganism based on the worship of the SUN that has survived into the 21st century with Sunday being the day devoted since ancient times to the worship of the sun. Sunday is also the day of church services as of today. The 25th of December Christmas celebrations and Easter are based of off the Zodiac signs as well. Even the virgin birth and 12 disciples have Zodiac connotations with the story of the SUN GODS (otherwise called Savior Gods).
Acharya S, is one of the BEST scholars out there whose books and videos pointed these historical SUN GOD worship plus astrotheological or zodiac-based facts in the Christian Bible out back in the 1980s to the 2000s. But even before that time period, these facts were already in the public domain for centuries.
One of my best friends who is expected to get married this year just called me for hours with regards to his plans.
He met this babe 2 years ago and things were going fine. I even know the girl as a nice lady and very homely. I don chop her food, she cooks well. Both of them attend RCCG church. My friend is a casual member while his fiance is a serious member and doesn't miss weekly services.
So my friend to take his relationship more seriously decided to visit his fiancé's family so they know him. Before then, the fiancé had told him that her father is a former Baptist but has stopped being religious and sometimes does traditional practices. On the day of him visiting her home, he was welcomed even bought gifts for the dad and mum. But he said his spirit was very uncomfortable in that house.
There was an standing portrait of the father on white with beads and regalia to show he is Ogboni. Also in the house, there were a few funny looking art works which looks occult. My friend played cool, the father even asked of his church and he told him. The father proudly said he is a traditional man. After the meeting, the next day he asked his girlfriend if her father is an ROF member and she said yes that she told him before that he is a traditional man.
But my friend is showing signs of doubts. He told me he loves the girl, but that he wants nothing to do with anything occultic in this life till he dies. His family may not agree but even if he insist to have his way because of love, he wants to be sure it will not end in regret.
I told him what really matters is the heart of the person he is marrying. My guy said yes but family background matters. Foundation matters, which is true.
House, what do you think?
Bump.
There are too many ignorant responses on this thread by people who have absolutely NO knowledge of what or who the Ogboni are.
Historically, the Ogbonis are the judicial officers attached to the palaces of all the Obas in Yorubaland for centuries. So, they are the ones who have judicial authority among the High Chiefs in Yorubaland and they play a role in that hierarchy. Many decades back, because of my interest in comparative religion, I read a lot of books on different world religions and faiths in order to have a better understanding of people and NOT be irresponsibly biased.
Based on people's level of spiritual consciousness or knowledge, they must be left alone (as long as they aren't doing anything negative). I must commend the girl's father for NOT preventing his daughter from going to her RCCG. This shows that he is a very liberal man and he even used to be a Baptist church member before gravitating towards his indigenous religious roots. There are many families like that where some men who have reached a high state of consciousness or awareness stopped going to the conventional orthodox churches because of very obvious observed contradictions in the entire church doctrines, so, they should be left alone and respected.
It's a known fact for several decades or centuries now that the foundations of the modern Christian church is based of off the worship of the Sun God (Sol Invictus) and this is why Sunday is still used as the day that Christian church services take place. We know how Emperor Constantine of the Roman Empire institutionalized the indigenous (pagan) Sun God worship into what is now the church which evolved from the Catholic religion. In the original Greek manuscripts before translations were done into the English language Bible, the term "SUN of GOD" was used to denote the worship of the Sun God or Savior God. In this case, Jesus is the corruption of the Sun God (Iesus or Iezeus or Zeus). This provided a dilemma for the early medieval English language Bible translators, so, they had to irresponsibly adopt the use of "SON of GOD" instead to cover up. If you check some Bible pages, at the bottom sections of every one of those pages, you will find VERY TINY fine prints where it is often stated that "Other Bible sources have DIFFERENT meanings and interpretations from what is quoted on this Bible page" meaning that there are DIFFERENT interpretations that exist. It will ONLY take me a few moments to provide several legitimate books and Weblinks and your entire being will be shaken as to how the Orthodox religions' priesthoods have manipulated religion for themselves and held the masses spell bound like zombies. But I will stop here. Jesus and The Sun God (Zeitgeist excerpt)
Your friend himself is a NOMINAL member of RCCG based on your post yet he is the one allowing FEAR to overwhelmed him. He should man up and get married to the RCCG girl who is a more devoted member of that church instead of pussyfooting. One the other hand, he should let another devoted man to step in instead of wasting the girl's time if he knows he's gonna continue to remain a coward.
Let your friend read this BRUTALLY honest submission from me and let him make up his mind based on what he has read. It's his right of choice but he should STOP demonizing others because he is ignorant of their beliefs. That's how to truly gain ascendancy and mastery over the cycle of relentless ignorance that is being spewed and used by a few off the pulpit to manipulate the vast numbers of the unthinking masses.
Seunpapa65: The Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), in collaboration with the Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria (SCFN), has launched a bone marrow transplant programme to provide a cure for sickle cell disease. The Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), in collaboration with the Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria (SCFN), has launched a bone marrow transplant programme to provide a cure for sickle cell disease. Announced in a joint statement by LUTH’s Chief Medical Director, Prof. Wasiu Adeyemo, and SCFN’s National Director, Dr. Annette Akinsete, the programme aims to meet international standards and address the high burden of sickle cell disease in Nigeria.
Nigeria bears the world’s largest burden of sickle cell disease, with many patients suffering life-threatening complications from childhood. The new programme at LUTH builds on previous efforts, including the establishment of a post-transplant clinic in 2019, the first of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa, to care for patients who had undergone transplants abroad. “Recognising the gaps in care for individuals affected by the disease in Nigeria, SCFN and LUTH established a bone marrow transplant programme,” the statement read.
Bone marrow transplant, using a donor from a family member, is considered a cure for sickle cell disease but is associated with risks such as infection, infertility, and graft-versus-host disease. However, advancements in the procedure over the last 20 years have significantly improved outcomes. “Bone marrow transplant is now an approved therapy for children and adults with severe sickle cell disease,” the statement noted.
The first set of patients began receiving treatment at LUTH in late August 2024. These patients were prepared with exchange blood transfusions, chemotherapy, and anti-infective treatments before the infusion of stem cells harvested from family donors. “Both patients are currently undergoing immediate post-transplant care within the transplant unit at LUTH,” the statement said.
The programme is supported by experts from Vanderbilt University Medical Centre and Imperial College London, with plans to expand access to this life-saving procedure. LUTH and SCFN also expressed their gratitude to partners including Chevron, Lagos State Government, and other contributors for their support in launching the initiative. These journalists have started their highly unprofessional, wild speculations got from so-called insider sources again. Past projections over the years have always been way off the mark.
Imagine the wild speculation: Femi Gbajabiamila will be removed as the Chief-of-Staff and replaced with Babatunde Raji-Fasola. If Babatunde Raji-Fasola declines the offer, then Abdulhakeem Muri-Okunola will be chosen. This is outright guess work! Period.
Several mainstream media publications in Nigeria online and offline irresponsibly published a FAKE viral news in 2023 indicating that Hush Puppi was caught in a fresh $400,000 scam from his prison cell in the U.S. It had to take some FACT-CHECKING from AFP to debunk the story as FAKE and AFP simply contacted the legal authorities in the United States Department of Justice and it was discovered that such an event NEVER took place.
If this is true, then I'm glad this idiot was caught. I remember reading about this case of armed robbery and rape of female students in that hostel months back and it left me disturbed. If it was his sister, wife or even mother that was gang raped like that would he (and his other gang members) like it? Illicit hard drug usage from Indian hemp, methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, etc, are other key factors that have led to these types of crimes worldwide and ONLY chemical castrations and long jail terms which I have advocated for years now would deter these deviants among the males.
In any event, we have to be absolutely sure that this person is the real culprit because people do look alike. Conclusive evidence from forensic testing of semen DNA samples would have made the nabbing of those idiots an easy one.
🇷🇺 President Vladimir Putin turned 72 on Monday, with birthday wishes coming from his followers.
“God save the Tsar!” was one of the first public birthday wishes for Putin, who has been Russia’s paramount leader for nearly quarter of a century.
Vladimir Putin was born in 1952 in Leningrad (the name of Saint Petersburg from 1924 to 1991). After graduating from the Faculty of Law of Leningrad State University (LSU) in 1975, Putin joined the Committee for State Security (KGB).
From 1991 to 1996, he worked in the St. Petersburg Mayor's Office, and then he moved to the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, where he held various positions until his appointment as Director of the Federal Security Service (FSB) in 1998.
In 2000, he won the early presidential election. Vladimir Putin was re-elected as head of state in 2004, 2012, 2018, and 2024. From 2008 to 2012, he served as Prime Minister.
During the period of his presidency, Russia hosted major international events, including the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The St. Petersburg Forums (SPIEF) and Eastern Economic Forums are held regularly. Additionally, the Russian Federation participated in the creation of organisations such as BRICS, SCO, and EAEU.
MomohMrMoore: In civilised countries, they will investigate his pasts and prosecute him. They unearth cases of 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 year ago. In these countries, you cannot run away from your oast. All these pastorial works are nothing to them. The white man brought the church, and they know its nothing. You cant hide under church
Nigerian activist VeryDarkMan has criticized Reno Omokri following a recent post in which Omokri shared a photo of himself shaking hands with President Tinubu at the presidential villa, stating that he spent Independence Day with the president. In response, VeryDarkMan played a video of Omokri protesting against Tinubu during his visit to the UK (Chatham House) during the 2023 presidential campaign.
VeryDarkMan then read one of Omokri's past posts about Tinubu and asked, "Reno Omokri, what are you doing with someone you once called a drug lord? Do you want to learn how to sell drugs? I'm just curious, o; it's none of my business! You can clearly see that you lack integrity.
By the way, I won’t pretend I didn't know that you begged a lot of people to help you meet Tinubu. I saw many people you pleaded with to arrange a meeting. In 2023, you were campaigning for Atiku. I know politics is a dirty game, but at least have some integrity."
Watch the full video and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
As a UK-trained lawyer, Reno Omokri (whose father is an Urhobo and mother is from the Itsekiri royal family) will definitely reply the points RAISED by the young man in the video. After due investigations, Reno Omokri knew full well that all the defamatory allegations he made as a PDP member against Tinubu are FALSE and CLEARLY part of the desperate political strategy of mudslinging the opponent to gain leverage and diminish them in the eyes of the public.
Nobody respects you if you are too nice. In any event, the person I will forever BLAME for the relentless defamation of his character is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu himself who has in a highly counter productive manner ignored these highly irresponsible young online and offline defamers over the false allegations of him being a "drug baron" when it's well known that as of 1993 the United States court found the then Senator Bola Tinubu innocent of any links to drugs and even returned 1.4 million USD back to Bola Tinubu's U.S. bank accounts.The 400,000 USD that Bola Tinubu forfeited was for a backlog of unpaid taxes due to the fact that as a U.S. permanent resident, he left his consulting job and returned to Nigeria back in the very early 1980s from the United States to take up a job with the multinational oil and gas company Mobil Nigeria (now ExxonMobil Nigeria) where he rose to the very senior position of a Treasurer which is also the same position that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu rose to in the banking sector. A Treasurer in any establishment is NOT a small job description as it is reserved for highly brilliant people.
It must be emphasized here and NOW that the United States does NOT forgive drug barons or do plea bargains with them. They are usually thrown right into jail for a long time and their properties and money from the proceeds of drug crimes are usually seized! President Bola Tinubu does NOT fall into this category and there was NEVER any plea bargaining that Tinubu had with the United States.
So, on multiple occasions, the U.S. Embassy through the 2002 press release legal department and the United States government have consistently clarified that Bola Ahmed Tinubu has NO criminal case in the United States but some simpletons and ethnic bigots have relentlessly pushed this FAKE news on a daily basis even right here on Nairaland. The day when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu finally roars or takes action against these online criminal defamers, a lot of youngsters will be picked up in their hundreds because they have left a digital trail of evidence online of their deliberate hate speech and criminal defamation of character.
Glimpsetv: A video of Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola, father of popular DJ Cuppy, has surfaced online. He was filmed sitting in a private jet with a beautifully designed interior. The video has got a lot of people talking online, with many expressing their desire to be wealthy and never experience poverty.
Reacting to the video on X, formerly known as Twitter, Seun Oswa, a Nigerian entrepreneur and founder of the popular internet forum Nairaland, exclaimed, "That's a huge plane, wow! It's a flying business center."

An option of N2million fine? What a load of B.S. I'm really pissed off with this underachiever scenario when Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, etc, have capital punishments for this kind of drug trafficking offences.
Nigeria and the legal system are indeed major enablers of drug crimes. Just imagine the stupid punishments being dished out after criminal investigators and Intelligence Agencies have worked there butts out to ensure these criminals are taken down. This guy is gonna be a repeat offender in this international drug crimes until the death penalty via lethal injections, electric chairs, hangings, etc, are implemented again in that country called Nigeria.
~~~~~~ Sat Sep 5 2024 Lagos to Calabar - 6 Months Later
1) There are a lot of energy companies that are now building CNG stations and the NMDPRA have stated that they will not issue new licenses for petrol stations unless the petrol stations also have CNG pumps.
2) The issue of controlling the fares of public transport operators is in the hands of the state governments and some state governments have actually gone ahead to regulate the prices (I think Ogun State, which has taken the lead in the CNG and EV campaign, has done that and some other states too). I will post articles about that in my next thread.
That's insightful Naptu2.
I forgot to add in my prior posts that the FIRST NNPC CNG mega fuel station inauguration on May 30, 2024 which Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Ogun State Governor attended is located in the Ilasamaja area of Isolo (Isolo Industrial Estate).
The second bolded point you made has to be taken by all the Nigerian states with a sense of urgency because the transportation costs have gone HIGHER in the wake of the recent scarcity and higher cost of PMS purchase (even for vehicles operating along several routes within Ogun State or from that state to Lagos State based off what I've gleaned online as of October 2024 from residents of both states). I'm aware that Oluwatobiloba Ajayi, the young CEO of NORD has supplied factory-built CNG buses to Ogun State where he hails from. Lanre Shittu Motors also has a factory in Amuwo Odofin where CNG buses are made for full purchase without having to convert any ICE buses to use CNG.
Based on my analyses of several convos online, the CNG and EV projects in Ogun State seem to be benefiting only Abeokuta the state capital and has NOT reflected in LOWER costs of transportation and reduced costs of food items in other major towns of that state outside Abeokuta, while other independent public transporters operating within Ogun State are still using the usual internal combustion engines (ICE) while charging HIGHER transport fares.
I'm looking forward to your NEXT insightful thread.
naptu2: The reason that I didn't bother responding to that post is because the issue was addressed right inside the first article. There are 2 sets of companies that are involved in this CNG programme, you have (1) energy companies that sell CNG and (2) you have car and engineering companies that carry out conversions.
One of the engineering companies stated that it sells CNG for 450, but that is because it buys it from an energy company. It was also stated that other companies sell CNG for around 200 to 250.
Basically, as I wrote somewhere else on the thread, it is a free market. If one company sells at a price that you don't like, sack it and go to another company.
@Naptu2,
Succinctly stated.
I appreciate the EXTRA clarifications you've made here. it's a free market like you've stated and people have a right of choice to patronize whoever they want for their CNG supplies.
In the final analysis, since there's a national emergency OR sense of urgency by the governments at all levels in Nigeria to lower the cost of public transportation and haulage of goods by food trucks from the farm gates, thereby driving down hyperinflation and cost of goods by over 60 % in the medium to long-term, it then becomes VERY important for NNPCL and NIPCO which sell CNG within the N200 to N250 price band to build more CNG stations in states that have the most registered vehicle concentrations. The N450 cost of CNG per standard cubic feet at the engineering companies CNG stations (though still way cheaper than the more expensive PMS), could lead to excuses by some greedy transporters who would still want to make quick profits by charging the normal higher fares and hence affect the uniformity or harmonization in the long-awaited cheaper public transportation fares. A strict price control will have to be introduced immediately because based off of what an Abuja-based female NL poster said about the FREE CNG conversation kits last month, an Abuja-based taxi driver who she had an encounter with told her he benefited from the Presidential FREE CNG conversation kits and yet, this taxi driver dude was still charging the old transport fare while making huge average daily profits of up to N50,000!
The NNPCL boss did state in July 2024 that the reason they reduced their original percentage stake from 20% to 7.2% in the Dangote Petrochemical Refinery is because they wanted to use the funds to invest in the deployment of CNG infrastructure.
legallysly: The individual called Very Dark Man represents a lot of things that are wrong with this country. Sparsely educated and irrepressibly garrulous, he appears to talk before engaging his brain while banking on his gullible followers to add their online noise to the ignorant gibberish that he emits from that mouth of his.
When he said he was ready to go to jail, I laughed. Falana will squeeze out unimaginable damages from him in court as he has no defence for the blatant defamation.
He needs to get an experienced lawyer to advise him before he opens his mouth from now on.
While I admire his support for the downtrodden and his dogged crusades for the oppressed, his unjustifiable attack on Falana was nothing more than an attempt to add a big scalp to his collection. Obviously, it has backfired spectacularly.
He added that it was true that Bobrisky called his son, Falz, to help him with financial assistance when he was in prison, which he (Falz) refused to do.
Sosqui: The truth is that the above cost from these firms are quite outrageous. You can do your CNG conversion at NIPCO stations for NGN750,000 for 4 cylinder engine with 55kg tank and NGN775,000 for 65kg tank. 6 cylinder cars with 65kg tank cost about NGN815,000.
NIPCO. That's a very useful info you gave right there.
What city are you located in? This alleged increase is hard to believe because the NNPC CNG refill stations are still selling CNG at N200 per standard cubic feet of CNG.
The first ever NNPC CNG refill station in Lagos State opened on May 30, 2024 with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in attendance and based off of what I've read and seen online, private car owners and truck drivers who use dual CNG PMS fuels in their vehicles have been very happy because of the major cost-savings made in using the CNG fuel over the use of the more costly PMS.
Legendguy: These 3 big for nothing tribes are the problem of this country. The Yoruba are good at internet frauds, that's why the South West have highest rate of Internet scammers, the igbos are good at drug trafficking, while hausa fulanis are doing local terrorism but they have imported it to niger and Chad
I'm just tired for this big for nothing tribes, they can't set positive standards for minority tribes
I have to step in at this moment and respond (with multiple evidence) to your post so that you will be well informed and other readers are NOT misled here.
Your post (and that of a few other well-known bigoted posters on this thread from page 1) reek of undue emotional outburst, ignorance, hate speech and lack of empirical evidence. You are cherry picking and trying to stereotype Yorubas instead of following evidence-based FACTS available to the intelligence agencies and in the media.
A lot of the Internet scammers come from nearly all parts of Nigeria (especially the states in the South of Nigeria and the Middle Belt states) based off of criminal investigations and intelligence data available to me and NOT only Yoruba folks like you have incorrectly posted. Lagos State has had many arrests by the Intelligence agencies, the EFCC, and the NDLEA of many Internet fraudsters, drug barons and drug traffickers (Who are MAJORLY indigenes of various villages in Anambra State), armed robbers, kidnappers and criminals of all shades who are of the Igbo, Edo, Delta, Rivers, ethnicities etc.The fact that Lagos State is a cosmopolitan state (like Rivers State, Kano State, Abuja, etc), with migrants from all over the world living, hustling, and doing business there makes it easy to pick up criminals and social deviants from other ethnic groups aside from the indigenous Yoruba folks there. So, a lot of crimes that are committed and credited to Lagos State and the nearby Ogun State for instance are NOT necessarily committed by the indigenous Yorubas in those states based on the official crime data of more than 25 years that are available to me.
Some towns in Delta State such as Ughelli, Efurun, Asaba, etc, are major hubs of internet fraudsters. Essentially, states that have higher institutions such as in Owerri have a lot of Internet fraudsters. Many internet fraudsters have been arrested in Owerri in Imo State which is a major hub for international Internet fraudsters in the South East of Nigeria and indeed several arrests have been carried out by the EFCC and other Intelligence agencies in Enugu, Anambra and other Ibo-speaking states. Edo State especially Benin City has witnessed it's fair share of internet fraudsters and arrests.
INFACT, the biggest Internet frauds committed by people of Nigerian descent in the United States have been done by Igbo fraudsters to the extent that the notorious criminals called Tobechi Onwuhara who was declared wanted and arrested by the FBI, and Obinwanne Okeke (who was arrested based on the scam he pulled off which is even higher in USD value than that of the other criminal called Hush Puppi). Obinwanne Okeke was arrested by the FBI in the United States as he was about to escape to Nigeria based on the incriminating posts he made right here on Nairaland!
In one SINGLE day alone, 77 Igbos were INDICTED and/or arrested in the United States alone for engaging in international Internet fraud and romance scams by the United States Justice Department and the FBI, so, it's highly irresponsible for anybody on this thread to insinuate that Yorubas are the ones who are mainly into Internet fraud because of the arrests of 2 or 3 fraudsters from among the Yoruba folks when other ethnic groups are CLEARLY into this criminal act because of the ease of access to laptops and internet data, unlike drug trafficking that is more specialized and requires a HIGHER entry level.
Right BELOW is a FULL list of 77 Nigerians of Igbo ethnic origin who were indicted and/or arrested in one SINGLE day by the FBI in a major sting operation in the United States for a massive Business Email Compromise (BEC) scam, romance scams and money laundering these criminals committed running into millions of USD. It was around that same period that the international fraudster and criminal called Obinwane Okeke (the so-called Invictus Obi) was arrested by the FBI based on the incriminating evidence he had earlier posted right here on Nairaland. So, this is a very serious act of criminality and a wider issue involving some other Nigerian ethnicities most especially the Igbos in the U.S. and other countries as well. These Internet scam cases are already being trivialized by some simpletons who should be sober instead of gloating.
In rounding off, these highly annoying, criminal cases of Internet fraud and romance scams are perpetrated by many White people as well such as Russians, Ukrainians and Asian gangs from China, etc.
Read up more on the Israeli Internet fraudsters called the "Tinder Swindler" who went by the fabricated name "Simon Leviev" then your eyes will be opened wider and you will know that Nigerians are NOT the ONLY ones in this highly criminal romance scams and Business Email Compromise BEC scams perpetrated by criminals like Invictus Obi (Obinwanne Okeke) who was embarrassingly rated by Forbes Africa as an example of a successful entrepreneur when infact he and his gang were actually international Internet fraudsters.
Beef Efo Riro is a native vegetable stew Have you ever tried fufu or efo riro? Or moi moi?
If you haven’t already, you might do soon, because they’re examples of Nigerian cooking that are rapidly moving into the mainstream of UK dining.
Nigerian restaurants are appearing on the high street and the vibrant West African cuisine is hitting the supermarket shelves, with Sainsbury's offering ready-made meals of popular Nigerian dishes such as Gizdodo, Eforiro and Ayamase.
“The big trend we have observed over the past eight years or so is the rise of west African and specifically Nigerian fine dining restaurants,” says Lumina Intelligence, market researchers specialising in the restaurant sector.
The Nigerian foodservice market is estimated to be worth $10bn in 2024 and is expected to reach $17bn in 2029.
A 2018 BBC report from food experts predicted West African food will be "the next big food trend” and a few years later it is excelling.
What makes Nigerian food stand out?
Known for its vivid colours, bold flavours and unique textures, it's food for sharing, bringing people together. It's often eaten using your hands.
If you went into a Nigerian restaurant, you might be tempted to try dishes such as:
Efo riro – a native vegetable stew commonly of the Yoruba people. The spinach-based stew is cooked in a thick oil. It has a red sauce with different types of meats or no meat, depending on preference.
Fufu – pounded cassava and boiled water mixed together to form a thickness that accompanies traditional stews. Other popular variations of fufu are amala, eba or semolina. Moi moi - this is a boiled bean pudding made with a mixture of peeled black-eyed beans, onions, egg, red peppers, and often fish. Gizdodo – a combination of gizzard, bell peppers, onions and fried plantains mixed in a tomato-based stew.
Ayamase – a very spicy stew with an assortment of tender meats, locust beans, boiled egg and blended peppers. This is eaten with rice and plantain.
The rise of Nigerian food reflects the UK’s growing Nigerian community. It’s been boosted by viral TikTok trends of people trying dishes. Interest has also been heightened by some high-profile fans.
Hugh Jackman, the Australian movie star, was spotted at Nigerian chain restaurant Enish in London’s Oxford Street last year, after his children recommended it. Enish now has branches across the world, from Dubai to Lewisham.
Beyonce’s charity, the Beygood Foundation, donated £8,000, which helped siblings Emeka and Iffy Frederick continue sharing Nigerian cuisine at their Chuku’s restaurant in north London.
It helped a restaurant that had opened just before the Covid pandemic to survive through the “absolute nightmare” of lockdown.
Chuku’s, which claims to be the world’s first Nigerian tapas restaurant, describes its ethos as sharing the best of Nigerian culture with feel-good vibes.
Michelin star chef, Adejoké (Joké) Bakare, made gastronomic history earlier this year by becoming the UK’s first black female chef to win a Michelin star and only the second in the world.
Joké opened Chishuru in Brixton in September 2020 as a three-month pop-up, after winning the Brixton Village competition in south London. Following a rave review from food critic, Jay Rayner, the pop-up became permanent.
Joké then operated pop-ups at a series of central London venues, before moving Chishuru to its permanent new home in London’s West End in September 2023.
She hopes this recognition means Michelin will "start looking at the continent".
Growing popularity Among the new wave of Nigerian restaurants is Tasty African Food, which has recently opened its 28th branch in Sittingbourne, Kent.
Business development manager, Simi Olaleye, said the growing interest in exploring Nigerian food is due to “people’s palate changing and the world becoming more international”.
“A lot of customers want to try African food... they are already familiar with our music and culture with the likes of Wizkid and Burna Boy,” he said.
“When you try West African food, Nigerian food in particular, especially our jollof rice, moi moi, our suya, it has an authentic taste to it.”
Food is about sharing cultures, with cooking often a gateway to finding out about other communities in a way that’s as natural as the food on the plate.
People might want to try out new flavours and then find they’re biting into a whole culture and history.
Nigeria is the biggest population in Africa and over 270,000 Nigerians in England and Wales.
