Where una dey get una own statistics?
I must commend you for correcting that dude (who was carelessly spewing "wild figures" of all the United States-based countries) in a timely manner. I was just about to point out the errors in his post when I saw your post.
Peter Obi is to INEC what Mmesoma Ejikeme is to JAMB. A man who came third claims he should have come first. It is, therefore, not surprising that the persons supporting Obi are also the same persons supporting Mmesoma. What JAMB is doing is what INEC ought to have done. Come out with guns blazing in defence of the #NigerianElections2023.
If INEC had a proactive and resourceful spokesman like JAMB's Fabian Benjamin, by now, it would be obvious that Obi and Mmesoma have no case whatsoever. One wants to reclaim scholarships and recognition that she is not entitled to, and the other wants to reclaim a mandate that was never his estate.
Scripture says the first shall be the last, but in the case of Obi and Mmesoma, the last wants to be the first!
NgeneUkwenu: If there are three names on the ballot in 2027 and they are as follows:
Waziri Atiku Abubakar Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Peter Gregory Obi
And God spares my life and the lives of the above people, I will vote for and work vehemently for the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, so help me, God!
In terms of acknowledging loyalty, economic handling, dispute resolution and having a forgiving heart, Asiwaju is a far better politician than anyone on that list.
hollas2jnr: I see alot of them on Facebook marketplace. A time would come that Nigerians won't be moved by mere aesthetics of cars but it's history and mileage.
Modified: And go with you obd2 scanner, if possible. Sometimes, the Check Engine light is removed, broken or covered.
OChimex: I have said this all the time, most cars in Nigeria are junk, tagged "certificate of destruction" you can't register them anywhere in the US, only good for parts, not road worthy, but they did custmetic repairs on them and send them to Nigeria. Most nigeria can't afford to pay car upfront. Most Americans can't. 😆 For example Most G wagon, Bentley, RR you see in naija being bought by politicians and celebs are refurbished junks.
2020 G wagon goes for $170k in the US. Then do your math's with conversion rate and all fees involved.
That's why cars in Nigeria visit mechanics every day. 😆🤣
I am sure your odometer was tampered as well. 😆
I have driven like 6 cars/vans both private and work like 3 years now, but never visited mechanics except oil change and tire rotation. In the US Most accidents are car related too. And when it happens, no airbags to at least protect the occupants
Catalysttt: wow....I really marveled at your wide and well informed postulations.... it's further rejuvenate my assertions that we still have intelligent people in this forum! It's a pleasure talking with you sir.
Yes, the governor recently had batches of big buses into the the state just like you rightly said. I think lack of foresight for our leaders is also a factor, the world is going away gradually from carbon monoxide and it's impact in the global warming as we've been constantly seeing in the news outlets. Going the way of CNG conversation of our major food transportation logistics (trucks) will indeed have a significant impact on improving the cost of food stuff as majority of the excuse for cost of things is commonly the cost of diesel and petrol. This inovative tendencies will aid curb this loopholes.
Succinctly stated.
The state Governor's have to get down to work by converting more of these food trucks and trailers to use CNG so they can charge less on transportation and haulage and ALSO introduce price control measures with punishments meted to offenders who increase prices arbitrarily after the diffusion of CNG fuel in major cities of Nigeria because some Nigerians are very greedy and like to game the system to make excessive illegal profits. It is these same people that would point fingers online and offline at some of those alleged politicians while they themselves are rotten with greed.
If you haven't read this thread link BELOW, you can go through it for a summary of resources on the CNG project by the OP who is one of our veteran encyclopedias on NL:
Catalysttt: what a yet another classic rendition! I salute your submissions sir! It's an intelligent proposals.... I've always nurtured this same thought. The war going on in the Middle east is an opportunity for Nigeria as a serious nation to make a fortune for itself
Indeed... Thank you. I must commend your courage in bluntly exposing these inefficiencies and greed in the food distribution chain on interstate routes leading to the South of Nigeria.
I read a post here on NL a few months ago that Niger State launched some CNG buses, and Lagos State is gearing up to launch CNG and electric buses too but I wonder why there is NO emphasis on the kitting of the food trucks and trailers with CNG kits so that these big vehicles can become hybrids with the ability to use both CNG (methane) and PMS (gasoline)? The emphasis has been on CNG conversation for buses and cars which are NOT enough to drive down hyperinflation. The cost of food and other items in especially the urban centers in the South of Nigeria have to drop massively so that the folks their can gain relief from high cost of drugs, food, transportation to and from work, etc.
This is indeed an opportunity for these guys in government to rapidly move in and make things better for Nigeria so that the Middle East military tensions between Israel and others will NOT further destabilize Nigeria with more spikes in crude oil prices and pump prices of PMS where people would likely pay as high as N2000 or more per liter. PMS from Dangote Petrochemical Refinery and other refineries can then be exported to earn foreign exchange to shore up the value of the Nigerian local currency.

Catalysttt: This is the yams being loaded on trailers from my side to other regions of the country...
If those food delivery trucks and trailers in the uploaded image and elsewhere have dual CNG-gasoline hybrid fuel installed in them, that would instantly drive the cost of haulage and food sold in the markets down. Nigeria is more if a gas-producing country than a crude oil country because of the massive gas reserves which have more value in USD than the fast-depleting crude oil reserves.
With the geopolitical tensions and war between the Israeli on one hand and Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Iran on the other hand, if things escalate further and Israel massively bombs Iran as planned, the international price per barrel of crude oil will further rise thereby causing a massive spike in the pump price in many countries and also make absolute nonsense of the cost of feeding and transportation that folks in Nigeria are currently complaining about. A rapid and massive deployment of CNG (methane) fuel [which is far cheaper than PMS at N200 to N230 per standard cubic feet of CNG from NNPC and NIPCO CNG refill stations] and CNG conversion kits or outrightly purchase already factory-produced large CNG trucks and buses by the states such as Niger, Kano, Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Delta, Edo, Imo, Rivers, etc, and the central government is what would prevent the spread of more hyperinflation thereby making nonsense of the so-called minimum wage that is being implemented by some states.
The hyperinflation though is LARGELY a mix of artificial inflation due to greed and speculations, illegal toll collection by revenue agents on interstate routes, and illegal checkpoints where some security agents collect bribes. These have gone on unchecked for years since the days of the brutal military dictatorships in Nigeria, and have to be tackled immediately by the governments at all levels in order to remove these food distribution inefficiencies on interstate routes. Period.
Catalysttt: Hello nairalanders, I'm from Eastern Nigeria (Anambra state) pricisely. Was born and brought up in the north, Niger State!
I don't really know why things are too expensive in the southern part of Nigerian than the north.
I don't even like coming home sometimes (east) due to the unnecessary high cost of living in the southern region.
Everybody is just so greedy and selfish. Especially how I read here on nairaland.
If not for terrorism and banditry, here is one of the major part of the country where the poor can actually live their lives and train their children.
Below are some of the prices of commodities in my local community.
1. this plate of rice is #500
2. This yam was bought from one of my mom's customers for #4,000
3. This fufu and egusi soup is #600
4. The Yam in the fourth picture was bought for #12,000
I have a lot of images to upload and their prices but nairaland is telling me that I have exceeded limit of image upload. Don't know how this site works properly
Catalysttt: Sequel to my thread I created sometimes ago about how easier it is in my location here in the north. I'll need you to please tell me the price of this items in your location...
If these kinds of heavy rains begin to fall in the Sahara desert and the Sahel, those criminal herders or pastoralists who have clashed with agriculturists and farmers for decades because of the pressure for arable lands would CEASE to migrate illegally from Niger, Mali, Mauretania, Cameroon, etc, into countries like Nigeria, Benin Republic, etc, to forment trouble and stay put in their countries to rear their cattle for meat, leather, and milk.
It was climate change that ravaged the Sahara regions several millennia ago, and NOW with another wave of climate change, we hope this would be permanent for some decades to come. Period.
I posted on this Website yesterday that the British government would NOT accept any letter or petition for the breakup of Nigeria from Sunday Igboho easily like that as that would put a dent on their British colonial experience in Nigeria.
The better option would be to align peacefully with other ethnicities with the United Nations as a witness, to conduct a referendum and go the way of the old India which is now known as India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The former Czechoslovakia and USSR are also great examples of countries that split peacefully into smaller and more manageable countries.
If regionalism isn't gonna be an option, then going the way of the old India, Czechoslovakia and USSR will be a better option within the next 10 years because there are inherent fissures within the Nigerian state because of some sickening ethnic rivalries and crab mentality which have slowed down the economic growth of each regional space for decades with military dictatorships being a major culprit in the institutionalized fragmentation and corruption in Nigeria. I have absolutely NO doubt that every major part of Nigeria would begin to work again in the areas of STEM education, robust economies, and technological advancements once Nigeria is UNBUNDLED into about 9 new countries that are mono-ethnic OR partly multi-ethnic by my estimate within the next 10 years. For instance, I have analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of the Yoruba folks when it comes to be a country of their own (which would be slightly bigger than Sierra Leone but successful) and the strong indices is that they would succeed based off of the material resources they have such as oil and gas, the second largest bitumen reserves in the whole world after Canada, gold deposits, a robust population of over 50 million with a strong Diaspora base in major population centers of the world such as the United States, UK, Canada, France, Germany, etc, with Yoruba folks doing big things in the finance, medicine, the STEM fields and technology space just to name a few which are needed for leapfrogging any country into the AI and space age. Same thing for other Nigerian ethnicities and their potentials that I have studied for many years now. West Africa will end up being like the Asian Tiger regional space due to some form of healthy competition by newer countries to NOT be left behind like how other regions in the North and East in the 1950s and early 1960s to take a cue from what the iconic lawyer and leader of the Action Group party in the Old Western Region Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo, GCFR, SAN and his Action Group team did by being the FIRST to set up the massive Industrial Estates of Ilupeju, Ikeja, Iganmu, Oluyole industrial estates in Ibadan, then built the then tallest skyscrapers called Cocoa House in Ibadan and Western House on Lagos Island, boosted education, the FIRST TV station, and sent promising students on regional scholarships to the prestigious and elite university called London School of Economics and Political Science.
With the rise in strong anti-immigration in many countries that Nigerians traditionally relocate to, it's very important to start thinking inwards about stopping the drift. Nobody respects you in the international community if you come from any country that is perceived as a country of significant underachievers. Period.
Yes you read it correctly N2,450.(Two thousand four hundred and fifty Naira) on CNG, now in case this is this first time you are you are coming across this word , it stands for compressed natural gas. It is a form of fuel that is a byproduct of oil exploration, you remember the fire in enugu recently while drilling a borehole? Well that is natural gas in its raw form.
Nigeria is blessed with more Gas deposits than crude oil, we are literarily sitting on our destiny, natural gas unlike Petrol or diesel do not require fractional distillation 🤣 , in other words, NO REFINERY is required to process it, what is required is a system of separation, filtration, compression storage and delivery. The applications of CNG are vast, from the automotive sector, to power generating , and even home use for cooking.
If and when harnessed safely and properly like most developed countries, we can effectively lower our costs by about 80!percent and abandon importation of petroleum products.
But again there are factors that hinder the development and expansion the use of CNG. I will use my experience as a case study.
In may 2023 after the presidents speech I decided I was going to lower my transport costs by driving fuel efficient vehicles. I started by buying a toyota Prius 2009, it is a mix of an electric vehicle and a Petrol driven engine. effectively I was able to cover about 860km on a 40L tank highway, and 550km city driving, that was good, but not enough for me.
I started to read up on CNG and after a lot of research, it became my new goal.
I bought a registered hyundai I10 2012
I went for training for CNG installation in automobiles, imported parts, and put together the very vehicle in the video, so far my cost have dropped to an average of N10 per km on higway and N13 per km within the city . For me this is taking back to before the removal of subsidy even better sef.
It was not all smooth sailing , there were a lot of issues and I will list them out.
There are no CNG parts for sale locally: Zero, there is no shop or store selling parts to retrofit a vehicle to dual fuel CNG . This a value chain pregnant and waiting to bring life, sadly investors are scared, and I’ll give you some of the reasons.
FX : Unstable FX has made a lot of investors sit on the fence waiting for the dollar to drop or become stable , no one wants to make a huge loss because he bought goods at high FX rates while his competitor got it lower.
CNG import Waiver: There needs to be transparency on the import waiver and it needs to be gazetted, as it stands it’s just a govt proclamation that needs to be in black and white so investors will be confident before they can invest . It’s all about landing goods at a uniform and competitive price.
Training: It cost me 4 times the national minimum wage to get CNG installation training for a 2week course, that on its own would have been a deterrent if I didn’t have any funding. Trainings should be subsidized, or free, they should be brought down to the average mechanic so it’s use can be accepted. CNG should become part of the curriculum in higher institutions of learning as it is the future of cheap energy.
Duration: It takes a ship 5 weeks to move from china to Apapa, takes a ship 3-4!weeks from Europe or dubai to Apapa. But it takes 7-8weeks to clear goods. This is a national emergency that will change lives and we should have it in express mode as Nigerians are willing and ready .
Refill Stations: I arrived akure from lagos with N2,450, but I will drive back on Petrol because the closest fill up is either in ibadan or benin which makes no economic sense to attempt . Motorists need more refill stations on the highway to make this work. Major routes should be prioritized and more stations created across the nation. It is not an easy task, but it can be done.
Finally Cost!: It costs an average of $230 for a CNG sequential kit and about $150 for a 65L CNG type 1 cylinder . Total $380 (N456,000) this is exclusive of shipping , handling and clearing . Eventually the landing cost of these items are about N600,000 , without factoring in the cost of installation and fabrication of the cylinder mount. Tentatively it would cost N800,000-1m to convert or if I use the right technical term retrofit a single vehicle.
Summary: Prior to the removal of subsidy on PMS I was personally receiving about N200 free of charge from the govt for every 1L of Petrol I bought, now it is gone and there is a cheaper alternative, and it is a 1 off installation, the govt should as a matter of urgency declare a state of emergency in the transportation sector and proffer ways of bringing down the cost of transport using CNG alternatives by subsidizing CNG parts and accessories for motorists in a transparent manner. This will have a ripple effect on almost all sectors of the economy and lower costs and drive down inflation. If implemented properly we have no Bisi importing Petrol or diesel as we are predominantly a GAS endowed nation.
Nigerians are smart, Nigerians are technologically innovative, Nigerians are good business men and women, the govt can not do it alone, all we ask for is a transparent , level playing field, govt incentives, and a healthy enabling business environment on this CNG matter and in less than 12months, transport costs will drop by over 80percent across board. I hope this message gets to a policy maker.
We are committed to ensuring that the recent fuel price increase does not lead to undue hardship for our people.
To support this, we are providing 100 new CNG buses to our transport unions and receiving 20 additional buses and 500 conversion kits from the Federal Government.
We have also established an enforcement committee to monitor transport fares and prevent excessive hikes. Our goal is to keep fare increases in line with the actual fuel price rise, ensuring that our citizens are not unfairly burdened.
We will continue working together to navigate these challenges and drive Ogun State forward.
naptu2: Hyundai Nigeria moves to ease transport costs with locally made CNG vehicles
Hyundai Nigeria, a subsidiary of Stallion Group, has joined the list of Nigerian-owned automakers driving the adoption of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (Pi-CNG) by rolling out CNG vehicles for various categories of automobile users in the country.
The vehicles are assembled in Nigeria, and the models include the Hyundai Grand i10, Hyundai Accent, Hyundai Creta, and Hyundai Tucson.
The automaker views its latest offerings as supporting the Federal Government’s efforts to provide the country with sustainable, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly transportation solutions.
Head of Sales and Marketing for Hyundai Nigeria, Gaurav Vashisht, said the locally assembled CNG vehicles cater to most vehicle buyers, including retail customers and status vehicle owners from different corporate companies.
“For instance, the CNG Grand i10 is largely targeted at fleet owners and first-time buyers focused on vehicle reliability and low cost of ownership. With Hyundai CNG vehicles, our customers, including first-time car buyers, will be able to acquire tropicalised and affordable vehicles that come with factory-fitted CNG facilities instead of converting imported used petrol vehicles to CNG.
“Our latest Grand i10, Accent, Creta, and Tucson come with factory-fitted CNG kits, including the bulletproof CNG cylinders, which are safer than petrol tanks but take up less trunk space, unlike the converted conventional vehicles,” Vashisht said.
According to Vashisht, the company has put in place auto finance options for buyers to enable all interested buyers, who are unable to make a one-time payment, to benefit from the cost-saving motoring incentives of the CNG vehicles.
The President Bola Tinubu-led administration introduced the Presidential CNG Initiative in 2023, a programme aimed at encouraging automakers to flood the country with factory-fitted CNG vehicles.
Because CNG emits far less carbon than traditional fossil fuels, vehicles running on CNG are more environmentally friendly.
Also, owners of CNG vehicles pay an equivalent of about N300 per litre compared to petrol, which currently sells for almost N1,000 per litre.
“Like all CNG-powered vehicles, the newly introduced Grand i10, Accent, Creta, and Tucson guarantee higher fuel economy and lower running costs. Most importantly, our newly introduced locally assembled CNG vehicles are backed by a three-year unlimited mileage warranty and supported by over 30 years of Stallion Group’s nationwide aftersales network facilities,” Vashisht added.
Common among the newly introduced CNG vehicles are style, economy, strength, and safety. For instance, sporty and trendy, the CNG Grand i10 is not only powered by a multi-point injected engine mated to an automatic transmission, but it also comes with safety features, including an anti-lock brake system (ABS), rear parking assist system (RPAS), and dual airbags.
The CNG Accent, which comes with a super-strong body structure, six airbags, ABS, rearview camera, and safety windows, is powered by a 1.5 MPi engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Equipped with rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, a six-airbag system, cruise control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and more, the Hyundai Creta, a compact crossover, is powered by a smart engine built with Dual Variable Valve Timing for improved performance, with gearbox options expanded to include a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
On the other hand, the CNG Tucson is powered by a Smartstream 2.0-litre engine, mated to a smart transmission that automatically adjusts gear shift intervals based on an analysis of recent driving patterns.
Flaunting an innovative sporty SUV style, Tucson’s spacious interior and extensive safety features, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Driver Attention Warning, Surround View Monitor, and Blind-Spot View Monitor, are bound to attract safety- and style-loving Nigerian auto buyers.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYa9lPu60xY?si=WshnYGjkxnfnCIHb Vector Historia • Apr 12 2019 The Khazars were a semi-nomadic Turkic people with a confederation of Turkic-speaking tribes that in the late 6th century CE established a major commercial empire covering the southeastern section of modern European Russia. The Khazars created what for its duration was the most powerful polity to emerge from the break-up of the Western Turkic Khaganate. Astride a major artery of commerce between Eastern Europe and Southwestern Asia, Khazaria became one of the foremost trading emporia of the medieval world, commanding the western marches of the Silk Road and playing a key commercial role as a crossroad between China, the Middle East and Kievan Rus'. For some three centuries (c. 650–965) the Khazars dominated the vast area extending from the Volga-Don steppes to the eastern Crimea and the northern Caucasus.
Between 965 and 969, the empire began to descend. The Kievan Rus' ruler Sviatoslav I of Kiev conquered the capital Atil and destroyed the Khazar state.
But did the Khazar kingdom wholly succumb to Kievan Rus campaign along with its people? That's the question we tried to answer in this video.
ednut1: no cheap country. Moreover permanent residency is no longer easy in many countries. To japa to those better countries on study route is now above 30m o
Well said.
Matter-of-fact, there's an anti-immigration movement brewing in many countries now. Best bet would have been to get an investors visa (or golden visa) in the top Caribbean islands such as Grenada or Antigua and Barbuda if the money is there from 150,000 USD and above. In 3 to 4 months, you get your permanent residency if you qualify.
press9jatv: seriously it’s a good innovation from Elon musk and other entrepreneurs.
Indeed, you can watch right BELOW the relatively recent high performance of the Tesla software update for the self-driving Tesla car in the video. I've been a follower and subscriber of that YouTuber (Black Tesla) as well.
You can certainly take on the Tesla steering wheel if you want to OR simply just let the car cruise along autonomously (in self-driving mode).

Indeed @Ishilove, "forever young and sexy" is the name of the game..
Whoa! Your last paragraph is a serious assertion from you Ishilove. Tbh, I won't fully doubt you here because of your wealth of experience (and native intelligence) as a "young" female who has to go to the regular markets or farmers market to get food items for the family.
As a near-octogenarian, my father has had to spend far much more on the regular specialized drugs that he used to buy cheaply as of early 2023. Imagine how other senior citizens without biological children who are well-off or in the Diaspora to prop them up as-and-when-due with USD or Pounds Sterling remittances will have to manage at this time of global hyperinflation. I'm aware that the Nigerian government has totally removed import duties on raw materials for the pharmaceutical industry, yet, the costs of drugs have increased. I think price control has to be introduced so that these retailers don't arbitrarily increase prices anyhow.
With the ongoing military tensions between Israel on one hand and Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran on the other hand in the Middle East, if Israel massively attacks Iran (which itself is a military power), crude oil prices will rise sharply again and the expensive pump price per liter of PMS (gasoline) the folks in Naija are currently complaining about will keep rising thereby scattering food and transportation projections for most families.
The CNG (methane) fuel is the ONLY saving grace as the cheapest fuel because it costs between N200 to N230 per standard cubic feet at NNPC and NIPCO CNG mega stations which is FAR cheaper than PMS. Since May 30, 2024, the NNPC opened some CNG refill stations in Lagos and Abuja with more to come. I saw videos and read online from already satisfied car owners and truck drivers who use dual CNG and PMS cars and trucks that they are NOW spending FAR less on fueling their cars and trucks. If let's say Lagos, Edo, Delta, Kano, Imo, and Ogun State goverments can ensure that more CNG-based dual fuel haulage trucks and big buses are launched ASAP, it would help in driving the cost of transportation, drugs and food sold in the markets and stores down with reduced hyperinflation which is the primary aim of the Federal Government's Presidential CNG project that is currently offering free CNG conversation kits to transporters. Nigeria has far more bitumen reserves (in the Ondo, Edo, Ogun, and Lagos States bitumen belt) and even far more gas reserves in USD value than the crude oil everyone is making a noise about for PMS production from the refineries. So, a gas-based economy is the ultimate way to go.
CNG in cylinders placed in car booths are NOT explosive like LPG (cooking gas) because it is lighter than air so, it diffuses quickly into the air unlike LPG which is more explosive which is why gas cylinders are kept outside the kitchen area.
