It's clear in the topic and in the details that's the rate is 0.005%

So where did you get your 0.0005% from??

To the mod that deleted my comment ONJR
It's a typographic error. I had already corrected it and updated my post before even seeing your mention.

I understand your initial transfered aggression and outburst towards the dude that you quoted. Don't let Nigeria's issues wear you down mentally. You are BIGGER than any problem that Nigeria or any country will throw at you currently and you will overcome them with the right focus and mental attitude. It's a well-known FACT that it's during times of economic challenges throughout world history that a new set of millionaires and billionaires are born and new inventions come into force because we live in a world of cycles... Business cycles, economic cycles, and product cycles, etc. The solutions are right in the problems or challenges facing us.

Cheers.

Modified: what a waste of a human, I'm sure you skipped classes in high school

Now let me school you dum-bo

0.005% of #100,000 is = #500
0.005% of #1,000,000 is = #5,000

You dum-bo shouldn't skip school next time😡😡
Your outbursts went overboard.

I didn't want to comment on this thread until I started seeing highly incorrect calculations by some posters on this thread.

Your calculations right above are WRONG. The guy (FreeStuffsNg) you originally quoted is absolutely right with his mathematical calculations which he obviously did with a calculator and which a Primary 3 pupil should know.

1% of 100 = 1
1% of 1000 = 10
1% of 100,000 = 1,000

[Taking the 3rd figure above which is 100,000]
1%÷100= 0.01×100,000 = 1,000

Therefore:

0.005% (Is smaller than 1%)

0.005% of 100,000 = 5

0.005% of 1,000,000 = 50

Summary:
Taking 0.005% of NGN100,000
0.005%÷100= 0.00005 × NGN100,000 = NGN5

No poor man or woman in Nigeria will cry if 5 kobo is taken from his/her N1,000 to deliver on the mandate of the cybercrime charge. The fee has been reduced very very significantly from 0.5% to 0.005% (almost zero percent!) in order not to throw away the baby with the bath water and help FG deliver on the purpose meant for the fund.

0.005% on N100k (one hundred thousand naira) for example is a paltry N5 (five naira) and N50 charge on N1 million naira so it makes absolute sense, low and fair enough in my opinion. Most transactions of the poor range between N1k and N100k so the highest a poor person will pay as cybercrime fee is N5 and lowest is 5 kobo!

There's so much at risk so there must be deliberate effort to sustain the security architecture around this crime.

You tried but those things you mentioned can never take a woman to heaven while on bed, neither will it maker her to squirt. How many times has a woman say "thank you" to you after intimacy? I can tell you, these mamas that are following all these small boys and lavishing them with gifts is because of this small thing.
Lol. I only mentioned 3 aspects in that post which were meant to lay the foundation. The biggest "sex organ" is the brain. You feel me?

Women respond far better when they are happy or at inner peace with themselves long before the act. Those 3 aspects I mentioned earlier such as the sensual body massages, warm hugs, and soft kisses, are the desserts before the real meal or "main course meal" that will warm things up for any woman. There are more advanced strategies which I didn't mention there such as the major erogenous spots to "shake her brains out"... And you'll get multiple lingering looks of satisfaction and thank yous from her after the main act. But just as I said, I have never gone down on any woman's "boom box"... It's not my style.

No they can’t do that though. They will call it slavery. “Being a slave in another man’s land”. At least that’s what I’ve heard some of them say on here about blue collar jobs. SMH
@Cococandy, how's it going?

"Slavery in another man's land?" Lol

It's all nonsense ego-tripping tbh. I think that line of thinking comes from the way people perceive blue worker jobs like plumbing, carpentry, truck driving, etc, in Nigeria. In the UK and U.S., once you are certified, these jobs are highly respected. I know of an African-American who is a college graduate who said he regretted not getting certified in any of the blue collar fields especially as some sectors bring in more income than what he studied in the Uni. He was actually planning to get re-skilled since he still has age on his side.

Those subsets among Nigerian Diasporans must learn to do what is right to bring in sustainable income for themselves and families because in the final analysis, on a subconscious level, women have for decades now raised the bar and don't naturally respect men who are bums... It is what it is. Even men don't respect women who have nothing doing or going on for them either. I know of folks who are long-distance truck drivers working for haulage companies and the same plumbing job bringing in good income for them. How are those Nigerian Diasporans who are temporarily out of work or who are "breaking ice" in a cold room at a McDonald's outlet any better than those blue collar workers who are solving the problems of society in the logistics space or taking care of plumbing in the housing sector? They should remain fixated on the office jobs while expecting to be spoon fed by their makeup artist, finance, MD or RN wives and girlfriends. The other alternative is to get mixed up with the WRONG group of friends and end up getting busted for Internet fraud or some other scams by the FBI if they are not willing to upgrade their skills. The U.S. Department of Justice website contains the names of some irresponsible young folks of Nigerian/Nigerian-American descent and some of their other American accomplices who have been busted for online scams in the recent past.

The UK Metropolitan Police have made it clear that they had no part in telling Nigerian women not to call the police on their husbands. The police officer speaking in Yoruba in this video is being investigated—I’m sure he’ll lose his job and possibly receive criminal charges which is good!

Here’s the story:
Met cop telling Nigerian women 'do not call police on your husbands' probed by force 6 years later

A video showing a Metropolitan Police officer allegedly telling a group of Nigerian women not to call police on their husbands but to “manage it", is now being investigated after resurfacing six years later on social media.

The clip filmed inside Divine Restoration International Church in Camberwell in 2018 shows a police staff member addressing a group of mainly women as three officers stand beside, sparking outrage from abuse charities.

In the video, which the Mirror has seen, the officer can be heard speaking in Yoruba - a Nigerian language, as well as English, while he stands at a pulpit talking about knife crime and how sons ‘may not want to listen to their mothers” and instead prefer their fathers.

The footage goes on to show the officer allegedly saying that once Nigerian women arrive in the UK they start behaving “rudely” towards their husbands, adding that they should not call police on their husbands “but manage it.”

Police confirmed to the Mirror that the footage has been referred to the Met's standards unit.
The children’s safeguarding group Afruca, have expressed anger at the remarks in a letter of complaint to the Met detailing how the officer's advice was “telling victims to stay in abusive relationships and not to seek police protection.”

Speaking to the Mirror, Chief Executive of Afruca, Debbie Ariyo who saw the video said: “[The officer said], ‘do not call the police on your husband, but manage it.'

“When I heard it, I was livid. Like what do you mean? So if a man is abusing the woman, and don’t forget, domestic violence is always about physical abuse, emotional even in terms of cultural practices, its a sexual issue - so if a woman is being abused in the home, she shouldn’t call the police because if she does, the man will be removed from the home and the children will spiral and it will be her fault.

“If a woman is being abused, you’re saying that women shouldn’t seek police protection. “That was really bad of them, that's just like minimising these issues in our communities. That Nigerians don’t really matter. Even children are victims in the home when domestic violence is going on.”

The charity chief went on to add that she felt violence against Black women was not being highlighted, as figures from PA News agency from the Metropolitan Police show of the 21 femicide victims recorded by the force in 2022, nine victims (43%) were Black and have higher rates than any other ethnic group.

Debbie said: “We’ve been talking about violence against women but we haven’t talked about violence against Black women. Women in African and Caribbean communities.

“And so to hear a police officer who should understand the UK Domestic Violence Act of 2021, telling women that they shouldn’t call the police on their husbands, whatever the explanation is, it's counterproductive. I felt it was an attack on Nigerian women.

“Coming from a police officer, where we see many police officers being convicted of hurting women, it's the first thing I thought about.”

When approached by the Mirror, Detective Chief Superintendent Seb Adjei-Addoh said that the video had been referred to the professional standards team.

He said: “The incident reported relates to an informal talk by a police member of staff made at a church in Camberwell back in 2018. The comments made by the member of the police staff categorically do not represent the position of the Met in relation to domestic abuse and are wrong. There are no circumstances where it would be appropriate for a victim-survivor of domestic abuse not to report it to the police if they feel able to do so.

“Over recent years, the Met has developed a raft of dedicated investigation teams focused on domestic abuse. Within the boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark, we work in partnership with the local authorities and third-sector charities involved in VAWG to ensure we have strategies to encourage domestic abuse reporting and support victim-survivors of domestic abuse.

“The video has been referred to our professional standards unit to assess and consider what action is to be taken.

“Afruca and other charities like them carry out invaluable work in the domestic abuse space, and I understand the concern this matter has caused.

“Lastly, I am keen to speak with those who have been particularly affected in an attempt to reassure them of our ongoing commitment to tackling this type of crime and protecting those who are at risk.”

1stGenAmerican,

I first watched the video 6 years ago and listened intently to what he told the Church audience. I just listened to it again via the link you posted here. I think there's some confirmation bias and exaggerations in the newspaper article based on the narrative of the Afruca lady.

The Police officer didn't say anything negative in English and Yoruba. He first said the women should "endure" but later added for extra EMPHASIS that the "endurance" must be achieved by using the traditional or cultural means of communication even if the husband doesn't temporarily have a job yet.

He emphasized on building family values and tolerance. He also told them to desist from the habit of looking for benefits that are paid by the UK government to single mothers in the UK.

In any event, the various ethnic strands of the Asian immigrant communities in the UK and the U.S. have stable homes based on their traditional or cultural values. Africans have such values as well, but I think added the knowledge of emotional intelligence and effective communication skills would enable couples to stay together.

For some of the Nigerian men, even getting a blue collar job such as plumbing would bring in sustainable income after getting certified. In the United States, plumbing jobs bring in a lot of income and professional plumbers even have their own businesses.

If you are a diasporan Nigerian, the most dangerous thing around you is a Nigerian woman(wife), with the exception of an insignificant few virtuos women.

They always want their husband to get into trouble. My cousin's story is an attestation to this. A poor Yoruba girl he picked in Akute and took abroad almost stabbed my cousin to death over a small issue. Guyman had to run into the bath and locked the door.

Another distant cousin ran for his life and is now in Naija because his wife was always reporting him to the British Police.

Asian women respect their spouses and mange their differences with mutual respect. Nigerian women(abroad based) are typical examples of the spirit of household wickedness.
Indeed, even in the United States, the various ethnic strands within Asian communities have largely mastered the art of maintaining stability in their homes based on their cultural values... With just a few exceptions.

@HistoryVille
That's impressive... This brings back some memories.

Brigadier-General Maxwell Khobe is one of the military men that I'll NEVER forget. He's hails from the Bachama ethnic group of Numan in Adamawa State (which is the same hometown where the biological mother of the iconic Brigadier-General Benjamin Adekunle of the 3rd Marine Commando of the Nigerian Army hails from). I discovered while reading books on the Nigerian Civil War in my extensive home library that the Bachama people of Numan are traditionally warriors and there were many Bachamas who were in the Nigerian Army in the 1960s and hence fought during the 2 years and 6 months Nigerian Civil War of July 1967 to January 1970.

I remember watching live and recorded scenes of the Sierra Leone intervention by the Nigerian-led ECOMOG on the Cable News Network (CNN) back in the February 1998 and the initial battle to retake Freetown was fierce because the troops loyal to the ousted junta leader Lt-Colonel Johnny Paul Koroma had quickly overan Freetown and environs while some looted and molested people, and it was a brave act of land, sea, and air military coordination that led to the Nigerian military taking over Freetown and the entire country. One of my male cousins was also on tour of duty in Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Bakassi Peninsula with the medical corp of the Nigerian Army (His mother who is my aunt also served in the medical corp as a senior officer till she retired).

For doing the needful in restoring President Ahmed Tejan Kabbah back to office after his overthrow, Sierra Leoneeans never forgot what Nigeria and her military forces did for them in restoring democratic ideals.

I salute the warrior spirit of Brigadier-General Maxwell Khobe, Colonel Abdulrauf Apata who was in charge of the Freetown sector and all those military personnel who were on tour of duty in Sierra Leone in February 1998 and Liberia back in the early 1990s while helping to restore democracy.

This is CLEARLY a proxy war between the U.S.-led NATO and Russia. Ukraine is just the grass that's gonna suffer here.

There are dire unintended consequences for all sides if this war doesn't end and concessions are granted. Let Russia take over some territories where ethnic Russians are in Ukraine and Ukraine should get assisted with funds to redevelopment it's war-ravaged infrastructure. Anything short of this would continue to lead to global hyperinflation as a result of higher oil prices and the tendency of Russia to make friends with the rogue leaderships of countries such as North Korea and Iran. Period.

There are over 100 types of body cancers any way, so, it's better to just load up on your body immunity, eat more alkaline-based foods in addition to a balanced diet and go for regular, comprehensive medical check-ups with MRI scans included in order to be able to catch any cancerous growth at the early stage before it degenerates to stage-4 which becomes for more difficult to treat.

PoliticsRe: Meet Adeola Sowemimo, The First Nigerian Woman To Fly Boeing 787 by Konquest:
Smart.Polician:
In a field traditionally dominated by men, Captain Adeola Ogunmola Sowemimo has achieved remarkable success.

She is Nigeria’s first female Boeing 787 pilot, flying long-distance routes for Qatar Airways. Her story shows that with hard work, focus, and the right support, anyone can achieve great things, regardless of gender.

Around the world, women are stepping into roles that were once considered “for men only.” Aviation, too, is undergoing this shift, and Captain Adeola is a shining example of how women can succeed in male-dominated spaces.

At just 31 years old, Captain Adeola is making history. She is the first Nigerian woman to fly the Boeing 787 Dreamliner for Qatar Airways.

This advanced airplane can reach speeds of Mach 0.85, or about 1,024 kilometers per hour. Adeola pilots this impressive machine, safely flying 250 passengers across the world.

Her path to becoming a Dreamliner pilot wasn’t easy. Adeola’s story is one of determination, strength, and a love for flying.

Adeola was born on October 16, 1990, in Kaduna, Nigeria. She went to several schools in both Kaduna and Ibadan due to challenges like religious conflicts.

Despite these difficulties, Adeola remained focused and completed her secondary education at First Baptist Model High School in Kaduna in 2007.

After completing secondary school, she started a pre-degree course at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in Oyo State.

But her passion for flying took over, and she enrolled at the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology in Zaria. She completed her aviation training from 2009 to 2010 before going to Florida, USA, for further training at Sunrise Aviation Inc.

Once her pilot training was done, Adeola returned to Nigeria to start her flying career.

In 2013, Adeola began working for Medview Airlines in Lagos as a First Officer on Boeing 737 planes.

Her skills quickly earned her a promotion to fly the Boeing 767-300ER. But her biggest breakthrough came in 2018 when she joined Qatar Airways as the first Nigerian woman to pilot the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Indeed, it's a forged name @Ednut1. There is NO letter T and H in ADESINA which is the standard Yoruba spelling.

The South African authorities also detected that both the father and Mozambican mother of that girl worked in collusion with 3 identified South African officials (one of them is already dead) of the Department of Home Affairs to illegally obtain a stolen South African Identify in 2001 hence illegally acquiring South African citizenship. Chidimma's Mozambican mother was never a South African right from the start (with the Aljazeera article wrongly alluded to). In any event South Africa has already withdrawn the citizenship of Chidimma including her alleged Mozambican mother and father who is from Enugu State by the name Michael Okechukwu "Adetshina." That's the name her father is known by in South Africa. If Chidimma who Identified herself as an Ibo girl (because that is who her father is) in a media interview she had last week has to go back to South Africa, she would have to apply for a South African visa to get into that country.

About 700,000 DUPLICATE illegal identities have also been detected in South Africa and more criminal prosecutions and eventual deportations will take place.

I blame South Africa though for having a lax system back in the day which enabled corrupt South African officials to sell South African IDs to irresponsible people who don't deserve it.

In any event, that girl's parents and other South Africans have to face justice for their crimes. Period.

“Everyday South Africans feel like their needs aren’t being met, and then they see someone who’s different from them seemingly getting ahead. On the other side, Nigerians are open about their success, which creates friction,” he explained.

Unlike Solarin, Obadire found university life in Johannesburg welcoming and even secured employment after graduation. However, when asked about the Adetshina controversy, he admits both sides could have handled it better.

Meanwhile, Joseph (not his real name), a South African security guard working at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto – where Adetshina was born – claims that many foreign nationals give birth at the hospital and attempt to register their children as South Africans through illicit means.

“Money talks here,” Joseph said, alluding to corruption in government services.

In Soweto, 22-year-old Patience Dlamini harbours negative views about Nigerians, echoing widespread stereotypes.

“Nigerians commit a lot of crimes,” she said, though she admits she has no proof. “I don’t think the government would lie about her [Adetshina’s] mother stealing someone’s identity. They need to get to the bottom of it.”

Dlamini’s sentiment is shared by other young South Africans who believe that Nigerian immigrants dominate sectors like hospitality and retail while contributing to unemployment and crime.
It's a big mess. With reference to the bolded section, it was also officially detected that Chidimma was NOT even born in that Soweto hospital where this Aljazeera journalist said she was born! The writer did NOT update himself fully about this case. As of late August 2024 when the briefing from the DHA and South African Parliament session took place, it was fully reported in the video that went viral that Chidimma's name was not even in the birth register.

As the South African security guy at the SA hospital duly NOTED, corruption too is embedded in the South African fabric and they have to work on that. If there hadn't been some corrupt South Africans, Chidimma's Mozambican mother and Enugu State-born father would not have taken part in the illegal acquisition of illegal document and IDENTITY THEFT. Now with better computerization of of identity data, more of these illegally acquired South African citizenships are being detected.

It's even annoying that while investigations where still ongoing, Chidimma flew out of South Africa and headed for Nigeria for that so-called beauty contest and her Mozambican mother also went underground and could NOT be found at the address she gave as her location which is illegal under the law. The South African elite security called the "Hawks" and other Intelligence agencies were extremely careless for allowing that girl to fly to Nigeria because she could be summoned to testify at anytime for cross-examination while the criminal case of identity theft and fraud is going on in court.

PoliticsRe: Edo: Ambrose Alli’s Son, Andrew Endorses Asue Ighodalo by Konquest:
ogugwa1992:
In a significant boost to his campaign, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, a top contender for the governorship of Edo State, has received the endorsement of Andrew Alli, a former Chief Executive Officer of Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) and son of the late Prof. Ambrose Alli, who is widely regarded as one of Edo State’s most impactful governors.

Andrew Alli, a seasoned finance professional with over three decades of experience in African infrastructure and energy projects, expressed his support for Ighodalo, citing their long-standing personal and professional relationship. “I’ve known Dr. Ighodalo for several decades as a person of integrity,” Alli remarked. “He cares about Edo State and wants to give back. There are other good candidates, but overall, Asue is the best, and that’s why I’m endorsing him today.”

This endorsement carries historical significance. In a twist of fate, Dr. Ighodalo’s father Jeremiah Ighodalo stepped down for Prof. Ambrose Alli during the UPN governorship primaries 45 years ago, paving the way for the elder Alli’s remarkable tenure as governor. Now, the younger Alli’s support for Ighodalo adds a layer of serendipity to the ongoing race, underscoring the deep historical ties between the two families.

Andrew Alli’s endorsement comes just a day after internationally renowned musician Davido voiced his support for Dr. Ighodalo. The superstar, who has millions of fans worldwide, added celebrity clout to the growing list of high-profile endorsements for Ighodalo. Political figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar have also thrown their weight behind the candidate, further strengthening his campaign.

Dr. Ighodalo’s momentum continues to build, with recent polls by **BusinessDay** and the **African Polling Institute** placing him ahead of his competitors in the lead-up to the Edo State gubernatorial election on September 21, 2024. Analysts believe that with endorsements from public figures across entertainment, business, and politics, his chances of clinching the governorship are becoming increasingly favorable; and opine that it it highly unlikely that any other candidate will be able to close the widening gap between Ashe Ighodalo and the rest of the field.

Andrew Alli’s endorsement is expected to carry substantial weight. As the former head of Africa Finance Corporation, Alli oversaw $4.5 billion in investments across the continent, financing critical infrastructure projects. His expertise in finance, coupled with his commitment to Edo State’s development, makes his support a major vote of confidence in Ighodalo’s leadership abilities.
Hey Andrew, it's been a while I heard from him. That's the son of the iconic Prof. Ambrose Folorunso Alli, the former civilian Governor of Old Bendel State [now Edo and Delta States] under the Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo-led Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) from 1979 to 1983. Ambrose Folorunso Alli's father was an Esan-Edo and mother was from Ido Ani in Ondo State. The UPN was a darling of the Old Bendel State back in the day because of the intentional style of governance.

All of the top 3 contenders have their obvious "strenghts and weaknesses." May the better man win the 2024 governorship elections in Edo State.

Botragelad:
According to the federal police, between January and July 2024, 34,000 people tried to enter Germany. Around 17,000 were denied entry directly at the border. The other half were allowed to enter and are being processed under the Dublin Regulation.

By comparison, last year, the federal police apprehended 127,000 people at the border who wanted to enter Germany without permission. A quarter were denied entry directly at the border. It is unclear how high the number of unreported attempts to enter the country is, and how many more people could have been stopped with more border controls.

Every sovereign country on earth has a right to look out for the the best interests of its citizens.

Those who have NO business moving to other countries must be restricted with the exception of legit professional immigrants or skilled immigrants and international businessmen who have to move across international borders regardless of the presence of face time devices or improved technologies. This would force underachieving countries to treat their citizens better. Period.

Pojomojo:
On Tuesday Sept 10th, I visited the NIPCO CNG conversion center along Airport Road in Abuja to inquire about the possibility of converting my car to CNG. To my amazement, I saw many commercial vehicles refilling their cylinders attached to the trunks of their vehicles, which prompted me to engage some of the drivers. One driver who really explained the benefits of CNG to me was a Bolt driver. He mentioned that he refills his cylinder for about 3k, which lasts him a maximum of two days. He also stated that he makes between 40 to 50k daily from his work. However, I was disappointed when he said that he still charges his passengers as if he were using PMS. He mentioned this with so much pride, as if he did nothing wrong. I noticed many Golfs and Toyota Corollas on the line to refill as well.

It’s also worth noting that the conversion for commercial vehicles is free, courtesy of the federal government, while the cost for private vehicles depends on the engine capacity. If you have a four-cylinder engine, conversion costs about 750k, while a six-cylinder conversion is nearly a million naira (900k+).

This explains why commercial vehicle owners aren’t really complaining about the hike in PMS price as much as private car owners—they have already rigged the system. I would have preferred the cost of conversion to be made more affordable, but let's run a quick calculation here:

If you drive a 6-cylinder car like me, chances are you have an 80-liter tank under your car. If you drive as much as I do weekly and use up the full tank, it means you consume between ₦70k and ₦80k worth of PMS (depending on where you buy it). We have 52 weeks in a year, so let's calculate your weekly consumption for the year. That amounts to between ₦3.64m and ₦4.16m respectively in annual PMS consumption.

Now, let's do the same calculation for CNG. Let's assume you consume ₦3k worth of CNG a day, which would be ₦21k a week. To find your annual consumption, multiply ₦21k by 52 weeks. That gives you ₦1.092m.

If you include the conversion cost (assuming it's ₦1.2m for a 6-cylinder vehicle), your first-year consumption will be ₦2.292m (which is still far less than PMS). Subsequent annual consumption of CNG will be ₦1.092m. Whichever way you look at it, CNG is reasonable.
Deep insights.

From your first paragraph, it can be deduced that STRICT PRICE CONTROL measures have to immediately kick in for folks back in Nigeria since commercial vehicles are starting to use CNG in specific locations. They also should be mandated to use green-colored CNG stickers [indicating that they are using an environmentally-friendly fuel] for easy identification by people of CNG/PMS hybrid fuel cars that will charge cheaper costs for transportation thereby lowering the costs of food items due to LOW transportation and haulage costs.

Foreign AffairsRe: Ryan Wesley Routh, The Suspect Of Trump's Second Assassination Attempt by Konquest: 10:16am On Sep 16, 2024
Almiron:
The 58-year-old man accused of pointing an AK-47 at former President Donald Trump on Sunday afternoon has a prolific arrest record that spans several decades

Ryan Wesley Routh was arrested shortly after the incident at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Fla. Authorities said Secret Service agents fired at him after seeing the muzzle of his AK-47 pointing through a chain-link fence one hole ahead of where Trump was playing.

Authorities are treating the episode as an apparent assassination attempt on Trump.

A background check on the name given by officials, Ryan Wesley Routh, revealed that he currently lives in Hawaii and has faced dozens of run-ins with police, stretching back to at least the 1990s.

Routh is a native of North Carolina, where his list of arrests includes simple drug possession, driving without a license, expired inspection and operating a vehicle with no insurance. In addition, the Greensboro News & Record reported in 2002 that Routh was arrested after barricading himself in his roofing company's office during a three-hour standoff that followed a traffic stop in which he put his hand on a gun before fleeing.

Routh moved to Hawaii in 2017, records show. He has since launched another construction company in Hawaii that builds simple housing structures for homeless people, according to a LinkedIn page that appears to belong to Routh.

"This does not appear to be some random guy with an AK-47 walking outside Trump's club," an official said after the Sunday afternoon incident

News of the incident broke shortly after Trump was safely escorted off of the golf course.

A Secret Service member spotted the would-be gunman while Trump was playing on the course's fifth hole. Officials say he abandoned an AK-47, a go-pro camera and two backpacks along a chain-link fence that borders the sixth hole of the course.

Routh fled in an SUV after a member of the Secret Service fired on him, but was soon arrested, according to authorities.

Trump's campaign quickly issued a statement that the 45th president was safe, with Trump following up in a message to supporters that he will "never surrender."

Fox News' Lucas Tomlinson confirmed that the Secret Service opened fire after they saw a man lift an AK-47. The suspect fled in a car, but was quickly apprehended, authorities said.

"There were gunshots in my vicinity but before rumors start spiraling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I AM SAFE AND WELL!" he wrote in a message that was shared on social media.

Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER!" he continued. "I will always love you for supporting me. Unity. Peace. Make America Great Again. May God bless you.
