Canadian Police Arrest Woman For Threatening Nigerians Online, To Appear In Court Today | #Politicsnigeria

The police in Canada have arrested a woman in connection with an alleged online threat targeting specific members of the Nigerian community.

The incident, which was reported to Canadian authorities by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), is currently being investigated as a suspected hate-motivated offence.

According to police reports, the incident began on or about August 25, when the suspect allegedly posted threatening content online.

Law enforcement officials say they received a call on August 28 regarding the threatening incident and swiftly initiated an investigation.

On Sunday, September 1, 2024, police arrested 46-year-old Amaka Sonnberger in connection with the online threats.

Sonnberger has been charged with uttering threats, a serious offense under Canadian law. She is scheduled to appear in a Toronto court on Monday, where she will face the charges against her.

The Toronto Police Service has confirmed that the incident is being treated as a suspected hate-motivated offence.

If convicted, Sonnberger could face significant legal consequences.

NEWS RELEASE From the Toronto Police Website

This Amaka's criminal incitement case must NOT be treated with levity by all the intelligence agencies globally from here on out because there are others like her spewing ethnic hatred from foreign countries based on massive intelligence over the years. She is just one of several indoctrinated Ibo women with links to secessionist groups like Ipob living in Italy, the UK, Finland, the U.S., Germany, Asia, etc, who have been spewing highly inciting, secessionist-inspired hate speech for decades now since the founding of Massob by Ralph Uwazuruike in 1999 and Ipob since 2012. Nnamdi Kanu was a member of Massob and was notorious for spewing hate speech on the pirate secessionist radio station from London until Ralph Uwazuruike sacked him for preaching violence and hate speech including the falsifications of historical events in order to brainwash as large number of impressionable Ibo followers. It was after his expulsion that he created Ipob in 2012. So, the relentless hate speech, disinformation, tauntings, and cyber bullying deliberately targeted against other ethnic groups from Nigeria such as the Ijaws, Ikweres, Yorubas, Binis/Edos, Hausas, Tivs, Efiks, Urhobos and other Delta State ethnicities, (because of the loss of the Nigerian Civil War of July 1967 to January 1970), have been going on for years now even before Nairaland was established in 2005 because I used to follow the activities of these propaganda secessionist Websites and their activities back in the late 1990s and the hatred gained momentum from the very early 2000s. It is the reactions to the unprovoked hate speech, FAKE news and more by the highly irresponsible irredentist Ibo aggressions over the decades especially from the late 1990s right into the early 2000s that led to a STRONG push backs by other distinct Nigerian ethnic groups (such as the Yorubas, Edos, Ijaws, Hausa, etc) and there is massive digital evidence consisting of videos, posts, dates and EXACT timelines both online and offline to prove the unprovoked, criminal attacks by this subset of irredentist secessionists among the Ibos living in Nigeria and abroad.

Right from the late 1990s right into the early 2000s, I used to visit those secessionist Websites and was stunned to discover that there was high-level TOXIC mind control and brainwashing of the young ones going on the Ibo-owned secessionist Websites in order to make them fit into a false historical narrative. These young ones were then used to push out fabricated stories or half-truths on other discussion forums and platforms such as X, FB, NL, YouTube, and more.

At just 46 years of age, her explicit hate speech in the live recording that I have listened to exactly mirrors that of Ipob and the kind of hate speech that I've seen in videos being pushed out from several "online troll farms" by some Ibo women calling for the death and beheadings of specific individuals in Anambra for instance which were eventually carried out. Even the BBC's Global Disinformation Team did an exclusive video investigation in 2022 on the relentless hate speech, brainwashing of their members, murders, etc, without being provoked. The 2022 BBC investigative video on the hate speech and violence by male and female members of Ipob is right BELOW.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media since 2014, Nnamdi Kanu said of religious leaders from the South-West and North-Central of Nigeria's Yoruba ethnic group, “It's always Yoruba people, head of Pentecostal, head of Catholic, head of Anglican. Hausas are killing us, Yorubas are sucking our blood."

“If you’re attending a Yoruba church, you should be ashamed of yourself”, he continued. “Anybody attending a pentecostal church with a Yoruba pastor is an idiot, a complete fool, an imb.ec.ile. They are worse than Boko Haram

There are more of my views, dates and timelines of how the TOXIC hate speech, brainwashing of members to hate other ethnic groups and fake news propagation as observed in the 2022 video by the BBC Global Disinformation Team (by secessionist groups against other Nigerian ethnic groups such as Massob in 1999 and Ipob in 2012) started decades back on the first page of the NL thread link right BELOW which the younger generation who were born especially in the 1990s and 2000s DON'T know about and the SOLUTIONS on how to minimize them.

He is from delta state’s anioma.
Nigerians will say they are igbos when they do crime but when they progress, they are not igbos grin
Well Anioma (coined from Aniocha, Ndokwa, Ika, and Oshimili by Chief Dennis Osadebay and co in the 1951) in Delta State has different ethnic origins. Some Anioma towns identify as being of Igala, Bini, Esan, Yoruba (Olukumi), Urhobo, Nri, etc, origins. Some communities such as Onicha Ugbo have mixed Bini and Nri origins and this is why you will find Bini titles in some of those communities. I even read of the settlement of a few folks from one of the Olukumi communities in one of the Ogbekenu quarters of Onicha Ugbo. The history of migration in that area of Delta North is a very fascinating and sometimes complex one.

Asaba has a progenitor who is paternally Igala and mother from Nteje which also has Igala linkages East of River Niger but Ibo language is understood and spoken in Asaba today. The Asaba progenitor even got married to a full-blooded Igala maiden that was given to him and gave his children Igala names. This is contained in the official book written by Dennis Osadebay who hailed from Asaba. Other immigrants then moved in from Bini and East of River Niger over the past centuries.

So, some communities such as Igbuzo would identify as majorly of Ibo origin from the East of River Niger and others say they are NOT Ibo and claim other ethnic origins all within the same Anioma.
BusinessRe: Fintech Chief, Dozy Mmobuosi Fined $250 Million For Fraud In The US by Konquest:
Firstcitizen:
A US federal court has ordered a Nigerian businessman, Dozy Mmobuosi who last year sought to buy the English football club Sheffield United, to pay more than $250mn in fines and barred him from serving as a director of a public company.

Last year, the US Securities and Exchange Commission had charged Dozy Mmobuosi and three of his companies, including two Nasdaq-listed enterprises, with fraud for inflating the “financial performance metrics of his companies and key operating subsidiaries to defraud investors worldwide”.

Judge Jesse M Furman, of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, has now entered a final judgment by default against Mmobuosi and his companies after the entrepreneur failed to make any representations in the civil complaint filed last December by the SEC.

The judge wrote that Mmobuosi and his companies, Tingo Group, Agri-Fintech Holdings and Tingo International Holdings, had “failed to answer, plead, or otherwise defend” themselves in the case. Mmobuosi and his three US-based entities have been ordered to pay more than $250mn in fines after the SEC alleged that his empire was a “fiction”.

Dozy... The dude hails from Onicha Ugbo in Delta State (The same Aniocha North LGA where Tony Elumelu hails from in Delta North) and speaks very fluent Yoruba as well. Tbh, a significant number of companies even in the U.S. are being operated unethically by their directors. When external forensic auditors are invited, that is when you'll get to see a lot of discrepancies.

Whoa! 250 million USD is a lot to pay in fines. If he can't pay, he should just file for bankruptcy and that would negatively affect his credit history. It always pays to be ethical in ones dealings when engaging in local and international business... Be open to investors about your company record books and always read the fine prints when signing contracts.

D'Tigress, three-time Women’s Afrobasket Champions who are making their third appearance at the Olympics after Athens 2004 and Tokyo2020, dug deep to beat Canada ranked 5th, 79-70.

The Coach Rena Wakama-side lost to hosts France (54-75) in the second game of the tournament after a shocking victory against Australia (75-62) in the opening game. Accra, Ghana – The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) and the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GNCCI) have joined forces to revitalize Ghana’s agricultural sector. A business-to-business (B2B) meeting held on Tuesday brought together local and international businesses to explore opportunities within the agricultural value chain.

The event aimed to address challenges faced by the sector, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted supply chains. GIPC Director of Investor Services, Edward Ashong-Lartey, highlighted the center’s role in supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by connecting them with potential foreign partners.

“We believe this meeting will foster collaborations that can lead to mutually beneficial partnerships,” Ashong-Lartey said. He encouraged businesses to leverage the GIPC’s aftercare services for post-investment support.

Grace Dzeble, Head of Marketing at GNCCI, emphasized the chamber’s commitment to facilitating partnerships among Ghanaian businesses to enhance their competitiveness under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The B2B meeting included business pitches and networking sessions to facilitate connections among participants.

Zernie005:
Johannesburg – A recent report by South Africa’s Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) has dispelled the stereotype of Nigerians as major contributors to the country’s top-priority crimes.

The DPCI, led by Lt. Gen. Godfrey Lebeya, released statistics for the first quarter of 2024, revealing that Nigerians were not among the top foreign nationals involved in high-value crimes.

The data showed that South Africans accounted for a significant majority of the suspects arrested for serious offenses, with 77% of the accused being South African citizens. The remaining 23% were foreign nationals, primarily from Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and Lesotho.

General Lebeya highlighted the substantial number of cases handled by the DPCI, involving over 750,000 charges with a total value of approximately $57 billion. These cases included serious corruption, fraud, money laundering, police killings, cash-in-transit robberies, illegal mining, infrastructure damage, and crimes against the state.

The DPCI, commonly known as the Hawks, reassured South Africans of its commitment to investigating and combating priority offenses.

Foreign AffairsRe: UAE Banks Halt Payments From Russia. by Konquest: 12:52am On Sep 01, 2024
Botragelad:
Banks in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have been rejecting payments from Russian companies for electronic components and consumer electronics from China since the beginning of August, with the payment chain disrupted due to the risks of secondary sanctions, according to Kommersant, citing market participants.

Transactions are being declined when the purchased goods do not enter the UAE. Russian organizations used companies in the UAE as a way to transfer money to Chinese firms, but the goods were shipped directly to Russia.

Payments through the UAE were advantageous due to low commissions. According to the publication, the blocking is being initiated by the Chinese side.

“About 10-20% of all laptops in Russia are supplied through channels in the UAE, and for other categories of goods, the share can reach 30%,” said one market participant.

Analysts believe that by the end of 2024, Russia may face a shortage of consumer electronics and components that were paid for through these countries, with prices potentially rising by 5-10%.

Earlier, it was reported that Chinese companies are increasingly refusing to supply goods directly to Russia due to concerns over secondary sanctions from the United States. Additionally, Chinese banks have been returning payments from Russia for already delivered goods.

EducationRe: Thousands Of International Students In Canada Face Deportation, Sparking Protes by Konquest: 12:45am On Sep 01, 2024
Abiodunstephen:
Canada is currently witnessing countrywide protests as more than 70,000 international student graduates could face deportation due to federal policy changes, and the unprecedented number of students who came to the country with dreams of a new life say their futures are now in limbo.

Representatives with Naujawan Support Network, a student advocacy group, said the graduates are at risk of being deported when their work permits expire at the end of this year. This comes after the Canadian government announced changes to its immigration policies, which included limiting study permits.

The impact has been devastating for these students. Tens of thousands who had planned to apply for permanent residency after completing their studies say they are now left with heavy loans and shattered dreams.

International students across Canada are organizing protests against the backdrop of looming deportations.

A group of students have set up encampments outside the legislative assembly in Prince Edward Island, protesting overnight for more than three months.

The international students say they are facing a critical situation as new provincial policies for a 25 per cent reduction in permanent residency nominations have left many unexpectedly vulnerable to deportation.

Similar scenes can be witnessed in Ontario, Manitoba and British Columbia.

“I spent the most crucial six years of my life taking many risks to come to Canada,” says Mehakdeep Singh, a former international student who is facing deportation.

“For the past six years, I studied, I worked, I paid taxes, I earned enough CRS [Comprehensive Ranking System] points, but the government has just taken advantage of all.

Singh is one of the former international students who spent his family’s life savings on tuition abroad. He is now facing the dreadful deadline of his work permit expiring, and there is no promise of permanent residency in sight.

“There isn’t consistency anymore,” explains Kanwar Sierah, an immigration consultant.

“At first, there were CEC [Canadian Experience Class] draws every two weeks, so they prepared for that. Now, students don’t know when the next draws will be, causing huge backlogs.”

Hundreds of international students and immigrant workers have held rallies in recent months throughout Brampton, pushing back against a narrative that blames them for local housing and job crises.

These students and advocacy groups, such as the International Sikh Student Organization, say that such problems are rooted in broader policy failures rather than the migration of international students.

They are calling on the federal government to extend work permits and provide clear pathways to permanent residency, emphasizing that they contribute significantly to the Canadian economy and deserve fair treatment.

Caught between hope and uncertainty
The protests reflect the growing frustration and desperation among international students who feel the government has unfairly targeted them.

Having invested heavily in education and the Canadian economy, they say they are now being told to finish their studies and return home while dealing with massive debts.

The students and their supporters are urging the government to extend post-graduate work permits, provide consistent and transparent pathways to permanent residency, and address the systemic issues that have led to their exploitation.

Without these changes, they say they fear that Canada will lose not only a significant portion of its skilled workforce but also the trust of future international students.

That's impressive.

These folks in the video are either Indians or Pakistanis. So, indeed there were many expats still living in Nigeria with their families from the 1970s oil boom era to the late 1980s when the very harsh Structural Adjustment Program (SAP) was introduced by the military dictatorship of IBB. So, many Ghanaians, Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Americans, Jamaicans, etc, who taught in Nigerian Universities in the 1970s and 1980s started leaving for the United States, Canada and Europe for greener pastures, and trust Nigerian lecturers, they also QUICKLY followed the expats to lecture abroad. Soon enough, those in the medical field such as doctors, nurses, pharmacists, etc, started leaving Nigerian too from the late 1980s.

Anyway, Doherty is an Amaro (returnee slave) that landed in Ilaro i.e. present day Ogun state. His family later relocated to Lagos state.

However, the next governor of Lagos state is a Conservative Muslim Awori man. You can take that to the bank. Doherty is just wasting his time.
Henry Ifabiyi Doherty (Baba Oko) is ORIGINALLY an indigene of Ilaro and he was from royalty. The 1800s trans-Atlantic slave trade led to him being deported after being taken as a prisoner but fortunately the slave ship was intercepted by the British Royal Navy and all souls on board were freed in Freetown. He got married in Sierra Leone to his Ijero-Ekiti wife (Helena Arowoola Fatoregun) who is also from a royal family and she too was also formerly enslaved after being put on a slave ship that was headed for the Americas. However they were all liberated from the slave ship as well.

They came back to Yorubaland and settled on Lagos Island. So, the Doherty family paternal lineage is originally from Ilaro now in Ogun State, but came back from Sierra Leone in the 1800s as educated liberated Yoruba Saros both from royal families.

It's a known fact that these kidnappers are now using satellite phones instead of cell phones which can easily be tracked through the IRT. So, there's a need for upgrades to the tracking system to pin point the coordinates of the kidnappers.

There's also the need for smaller drones and combat drones for aerial surveillance and attacks on the base of these criminals in the NOTORIOUSLY well-known crime spots. This would deter crimes and help to apprehend criminals. Period.
CareerRe: Nigerian-Born Kelechi Ndukwe Promoted To Captain In U.S Navy, To Command Warship by Konquest: 3:50pm On Aug 31, 2024
OLAADEGBU:
A Nigerian-American Kelechi Ndukwe has been promoted to the rank of Navy Captain.

Earlier in his career, he served as the fire control officer aboard the USS Normandy in Norfolk from 2004 to 2006 and as the auxiliaries officer on the USS Thorn, also in Norfolk, from 2003 to 2004.

A 2002 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Ndukwe has also worked in the office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS), the highest-ranking military position in the United States.

In 2021, Kelechi Ndukwe assumed command of the USS Halsey (DDG-97), an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer. Before succeeding DeVere J. Crooks, who had led the ship since November 2019, Ndukwe served as the executive officer.

The USS Halsey (DDG-97) is not Ndukwe's first command. From 2013 to 2015, the chemical engineering graduate was the commanding officer of the USS Devastator (MCM 6), a minesweeper based in Bahrain

The new position marks the pinnacle of his more than 20-year career in the US Navy, which began in 2003 as an auxiliaries officer. This was a year after he earned a master’s degree in national security and strategy studies from the US Naval War College.

The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, on her handle on Friday, congratulated Kelechi Ndukwe on his new position.

She said, “A hearty congratulations to Navy Captain Kelechi R Ndukwe who has been promoted to the rank of Navy Captain from Commander, in the US NAVY. He is the first Nigerian American to Command a US warship #Proud#ProudlyNigerian."

Meanwhile, Segun Victor Agunbiade, an officer in the US Navy, confirmed Ndukwe's promotion on his social media handle on Thursday.

Agunbiade wrote, "Ladies and Gentlemen, meet the newest US Navy Captain, Kelechi Ndukwe. He is the first Nigerian to command a US Navy warship! Congratulations on your promotion, Captain! Well deserved!!!"

A Navy Captain... I love to see folks unleash there real potentials.

I can see Lt. Commander Victor Segun Agunbiade of the U.S. Navy keeping it real and cheering another bro on.
