NinjaMetahuman: this one just put a bunch of text together without thinking.
Anyways, lemme respond to this to set the record straight before you think you made any actual sense.
1, The fact that you don't know that America is the highest producer of crude oil in the world and Nigeria is barely in the top 10 shows why no one should take you seriously.
America is also the the 2nd highest producer and exporter of electric vehicles worldwide after china by the way. (Thanks to Tesla and general motors)
America is already preparing for life after crude oil by embracing EV despite being the highest producer oil.
You expect Nigeria to also do the same especially for country with barely any passive income apart from crude oil. Quickly capture ev market with our own brand especially with our lithium deposit in the north that are suitable for EV batteries.
Dubai and saudi arabia have tourism that generates alot of money for them even without crude and they barely export anything else and they will be okay either way.
OLAADEGBU: Biden ‘Could Be Convicted’ After Leaving Office, Says Trump
In addition to the gun-related charges, Hunter Biden is also facing federal tax charges, as announced by Special Counsel David Weiss.
Trump's comment came in response to Biden's earlier remark, which labelled Trump a "convicted felon" in reference to his recent guilty verdict in New York v. Trump.
In that instance, Trump was convicted of falsifying business records in the first degree. Despite the verdict, Trump maintained his innocence and countered Biden's criticism, defending his actions.
"When he talks about a convicted felon, his son is a convicted felon at a very high level," Trump said of Biden’s son, Hunter Biden Fox News reports.
Hunter Biden was convicted on multiple federal gun-related charges this month, as announced by Special Counsel David Weiss. The charges included making false statements during a gun purchase, providing false information to a licensed gun dealer, and possessing a firearm while being an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance.
"His son is convicted, going to be convicted probably numerous other times, should have been convicted before. But his Justice Department let the statute of limitations lapse on the most important things," Trump said.
In addition to the gun-related charges, Hunter Biden is also facing federal tax charges, as announced by Special Counsel David Weiss.
The tax-related trial is scheduled to commence on September 5 in California. Meanwhile, Trump suggested that President Biden may potentially face legal charges after leaving office, although no formal charges have been filed against the President at this time.
"But he could be a convicted felon as soon as he gets out of office – Joe could be a convicted felon with all of the things that he's done. He's done horrible things," Trump said. "All of the deaths caused at the border, telling the Ukrainian people that we're going to want $1 billion, you could change the prosecutor, otherwise you're not getting $1 billion."
Trump was referencing remarks made by Joe Biden during his vice presidency. Biden has publicly acknowledged that he successfully pushed for the dismissal of Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin while serving as vice president.
At the time, Shokin was leading an investigation into Burisma Holdings, a company that had Hunter Biden on its board, earning a substantial monthly income. Vice President Biden threatened to withhold $1 billion in crucial US aid unless Shokin was removed from his position.
OLAADEGBU: Democrats Urge Biden To Withdraw From Presidential Race After ‘Shocking’ Performance At Trump Debate
After Thursday's debate, where President Joe Biden faced challenges in his encounter with former President Donald Trump, his Republican opponent, some Democrats have started urging Biden to drop out of the presidential race, allowing the party to select an alternative candidate to run in his place.
As reported by NBC News, Democrats are concerned that the Biden who participated in the debate - a version that embodied the criticisms and caricatures leveled by Trump and his supporters, portraying him as unfit for office - will ultimately prove unelectable in the November elections.
"This was like a champion boxer who gets in the ring past his prime and needs his corner to throw in the towel," said a Democratic lawmaker, adding that he meant Biden should exit the race. If President Biden doesn't voluntarily step down, the possibilities for a replacement are scarce.
It would require a remarkable uprising among Democratic National Convention delegates, most of whom were elected on the condition of supporting Biden's nomination. However, some Democrats were indeed contemplating this scenario on Thursday night.
It's “time to talk about an open convention and a new Democratic nominee,” said a second Democratic lawmaker who has been a solid Biden supporter.
Despite desires for a replacement, many doubt the feasibility of replacing Biden, are uncertain about which alternative candidate could secure the party's nomination, and question whether a new candidate could defeat Trump in the November election.
Going into the debate, which was hosted by CNN, polls showed a close race between Biden and Trump.
“There is a sense of shock at how he came out at the beginning of this debate. How his voice sounded. He seemed a little disoriented. ... There are going to be discussions about whether he should continue,” David Axelrod, a top adviser to former President Barack Obama, said on CNN. “Only he can decide if he’s going to continue.”
Axelrod forecasted that Biden would be unlikely to withdraw from the race, citing his strong sense of pride and self-confidence.
Historically, the last instance of an eligible president opting out of a reelection bid was in 1968, when Lyndon Johnson, facing likely defeat in the Democratic primaries, decided not to pursue a second full term, a scenario that may hold relevance in the current political landscape.
Still, several Democrats predicted that calls for Biden to take the Johnson route would multiply in the coming days.
“The chatter of replacement is absolutely going to explode,” said a veteran Democratic strategist who has worked on presidential campaigns. “There is no coming back from this disaster.”
If Biden were to withdraw, it would trigger a potentially divisive and contentious struggle within the Democratic Party over whether to automatically promote Vice President Kamala Harris, who made history as the first Black and female vice president.
This conflict could fragment crucial voter bases at a time when unity is essential for the party's success. Despite this risk, some party strategists believe Biden's departure is necessary, even if it leads to a fierce intraparty battle.
"They need to change nomination now," a Democratic operative said. "Or just put Harris on top of the ticket."
A Democratic strategist with connections to Capitol Hill revealed that lawmakers are hesitant to openly urge Biden to drop out of the race, saying, "No one wants to be the first to do so." However, the strategist noted that many are discreetly reviewing Democratic National Committee rules and procedures.
While the strategist expressed personal admiration for Biden's accomplishments, including his handling of international conflicts, key appointments, and domestic policies, as well as his triumph over Trump in 2020, they believe it's essential for Biden to step aside and allow another candidate to take the reins.
"I am for the first time beginning to think calling for Biden to step aside isn't heretical; it's the only responsible thing to do," he said. "If we lose this election to Trump because we were too afraid to admit we were wrong about his age or too worried of an open convention, we can no longer call our party the defenders of democracy."
Several current and former Democratic elected officials opted to remain silent when asked about Biden's performance on Thursday night, choosing not to publicly comment on the matter.
One Democratic lawmaker jokingly replied, "The best thing I can do to help Joe Biden is to pretend I didn't get your text," indicating a desire to avoid publicly criticising or distancing themselves from the president
If President Biden doesn't voluntarily step down, the possibilities for a replacement are scarce.
I'm shook by the Presidential debate outcome tbh. With all the latest advancements in regenerative medicine in the U.S., and elsewhere, I was expecting that Biden's medical team would have found a solution to his clearly age-related challenges by now so that robust debates can take place in the lead up to the Presidential elections.
The Must Watch Moments of the 2024 U.S. Presidential Debates
Enemyofpeace: I don't know why poor people always feel that whatever is seen on a rich man was bought by him. The wristwatch being discussed was given to the governor by me on his last birthday as a token of my appreciation for the contracts he awarded to my company. Rich men hardly buy things for themselves, people rush over themselves to give them gifts.
True that.
We are on the same page here. This is the reason why some wealthy folks just go under the radar because of envy from physically and mentally poor people in all societies... Including the Western countries.
If a person just has that hate and negative energy around him or her towards wealthy folks, their financial success in life would be delayed. That's a FACT because this planet is governed by vibrational energy. Thoughts are things.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was spotted wearing a luxury wristwatch valued at over N190 million (approximately $127,000) at the wedding of Davido and Chioma Rowland on Wednesday.
The Patek Philippe World Time Chronograph 5930G-11 watch was identified by SaharaReporters through a search on Chrono24, a prominent online marketplace for high-end timepieces.
The Governor's extravagant accessory has raised eyebrows, given the economic challenges facing Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.
This translates to approximately N195 million, based on the current exchange rate of N1,540 to $1.
Nigeria has been grappling with revenue struggles, unemployment, and underdevelopment, amidst concerns over the judicious use of public funds by officials.
Governor Sanwo-Olu has faced scrutiny for his luxury tastes, having been spotted with high-end wristwatches on multiple occasions, sparking questions about his stewardship of public resources.
In 2023, Governor Sanwo-Olu was seen wearing a Patek Philippe wristwatch valued at approximately N160 million, sparking controversy amidst widespread poverty in Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.
This luxury purchase has raised questions about his priorities as a leader, especially given the recent meeting of southern governors to address the growing economic hardship in the region.
Furthermore, Lagos State is among the most indebted states in Nigeria, making the governor's extravagant expenditure on personal items all the more concerning.
Before he became the Head of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund and also the current Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu was a very senior banker who rose to the position of a treasurer while in the corporate banking sector. He's rich and If he can afford to get a high-end watch of that amount, that's his business. Why the focus on ONLY him when other high-profile guests were at the wedding ceremony with very expensive watches, shoes, and other accessories. He could even have got the watch as a gift from super wealthy friends. I myself have a couple of expensive accessories that I don't wear often except for very special occasions. So, I can understand what Sanwo-Olu is doing here... Wearing a high-end watch on a special wedding occasion.
Just this week, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu celebrated his 59th birthday ceremony quietly with the underprivileged children in Lagos State. He even instructed people NOT to put expensive birthday adverts in the papers. That was VERY sensitive of him. In times of economic challenges, it's good to be modest but you don't expect folks who are rich to start wearing rags OR pour ashes on themselves just because you want them to be on the same economic level with you out of envy!
If YOU are envious of wealthy and truly successful people, and tell lies laced with hate speech against them, you will NEVER be rich because you are using the negative vibrational energy which does NOT create wealth but is self-destructive!
Tbh, Omoyele Sowore's Sahara Reporters has indeed gone to the dogs. This is NOT how Sahara Reporters used to be from decades back. Omoyele who I loved for his doggedness in the University of Lagos student unionism and Pro-democracy struggles back in the late 1980s to the early 1990s has to change his tendency for allowing one of the best investigative journalism sources to become a platform for criminal defamation and spread of petty hate online.
PHAYOL81: SO because he wanted to relay foreign papers reports about a NIGERIAN, he had to first tell us inconsequential story about flight arrival, using such opportunity to take a dig at IKEJA, at the custom service as well as the official, and NIGERIA altogether. At the end of the day, he failed to tell us his investigation about the story and his findings that which necessitated the publication.
He rushed to put a story out UNDER A PSEUDO/COVER NAME and expect the slandered personality to take it easy with him (or not figure him out) if the story is false. He'll get to learn. And I thought PunchNigeria should know better.
Well said.
The daft Punch article writer didn't do further investigations on this case and just ended up glibly rehashing the same stories published by a British tabloids. His submissions were highly unintelligent for a U.S.-based writer tbh. I expected more insights from this.
In any event, even if the current Oluwo of Iwo had committed an offence when he was still a Prince back in the 1990s in the U.S. when he allegedly had financial challenges, he has since been a free man and should be judged based on his current antecedents and NOT his past. Iwo is a majority Islamic community for over 500 years now and all the Oluwos of Iwo are usually TURBANNED and NOT CROWNED or chosen by Ifa divination like in most Yoruba towns, so, choosing him or removing him depends on the people of Iwo Kingdom.
ijustdey: Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry. The handshake, however, went beyond the elbow when the newspaper befouled the picture with the headline, “Royal Exclusive: Harry and conman Nigerian king twice deported from US.”
The description of the Oluwo as a criminal is the view and product of investigation of the British media, not mine. In a three-part series, ‘Oluwo and the glorification of ignorance’, Tunde the son of Odesola, expressed his views about Oluwo Akanbi in 2022 when he described the conman as a con-king transmuting into a king-kong.
In its publication on May 19, 2024, THE SUN was extensively brutal. The headline of the paper’s story reads, “Dodgy Royal: Nigerian King who Harry called his ‘in-law’ is ‘CONMAN jailed and deported after trying to cash stolen £247k cheque’, with the rider, ‘The ‘Funky King’ (Oluwo) was jailed 15 months in 1998”.
Reporting the three-day visit of the 39-year-old Harry and his 42-year-old wife, Meghan, to Nigeria, THE SUN reveals Akanbi had been deported twice from the US and banned twice for life from entering the US.
THE SUN story reads, “But the Nigerian royal (Oluwo) is a convicted fraudster who was twice kicked out of America. He was allegedly first arrested in Boston in 1998 after he tried to cash a stolen cheque for £247,000 from aviation company Boeing.
“Akanbi posed as a successful businessman called Joseph Pigott but cops were alerted by a suspicious bank teller at BankBoston. The conman (Oluwo) was also charged for forging a cheque for £59,000 using the name Thomas Eyring. He was also reportedly jailed for 15 months and deported to Nigeria in April 1999.
“His £1,500 fine was waived ‘because of an inability to pay’. Despite being banned from re-entering the US, he was then said to have been caught attempting to cross the border in March 2011. Akanbi was with his then-wife Rakiya Saidu and young son and claimed they were going to New York to shop.
“Facing the prospect of a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and a £197,000 fine, Akanbi pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to time served, deported and banned from the US for life a second time.”
If Akanbi had been jailed for 20 years, Iwo would never have witnessed these years of the locust nor would this big calabash of shame hang on the community’s neck. Iwo would’ve remained famous for the honour earned by former Oluwos, including Oba Parin, Oba Lamuye, Oba Samuel Abimbola, and Oba Olatunbosun Tadase among others. The sacred name of Iwo wouldn’t have been stained with dishonour.
If you’re close to Iwo, you could’ve heard their sons and daughters eulogise the impregnable security of the land, saying “Iwo ti o ni ilekun, ti o ni kokoro; eru wewe ni iran baba won fi n de ile.”
O ye descendants of Iwo, is it a mistake that your forebears left the city gateless and keyless? O ye children of Iwo, is it not too late now that a virus has crept onto the throne? Where were the ‘eru wewe’ small slaves sentineled at the gate when Akanbi crept into town? Sé wón gbà’bòdè ni? Did they sabotage?
Then-Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, stood up for integrity when he kicked out the Deji of Akure, Oba Oluwadare Adepoju, from the palace in 2010, for beating his wife, Olori Bolanle.
From Ife to Oyo, Lagos, Ijebu, Abeokuta, Ede, Owo, Benin, Warri, Sokoto, Kano, Bauchi, Gwandu etc, monarchs had been dethroned. Sadly, none of the deposed kings in Nigeria’s history parades the kind of criminal credentials as the Oluwo. Governor Adeleke, ICPC, EFCC, National Council of Traditional Rulers, Yoruba Council of Obas, Iwo kingmakers, Iwo people, over to you. Oluwo must go!
Faiththatworks: I didn't know how bad Lekki was until I went out on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The road was flooded,it started from Chevron and ended at Lekki phase one,no movement for almost 7 hours.
God bless the Commissioner for Environment for tackling the menace of flooding in the state but it's time to take some hard decisions. The Bus stop at Chisco and Ikate are part of the major problem on the road.
The street beside house on the rock Church must be demolished and expanded to build a bigger road and wider drainage.
Those roads are always flooded even when it doesn't rain, the Commissioner for works and Environment must stop the window dressing at Agungi and demolish those houses in those areas to build wider roads and drainage which will feed the collector drain at Agungi.
We also appeal to Mr Governor to quickly finish the road from Freedom way to VGC,that project has been on for more than 2 years. I also believe the Government must as a matter of urgency, construct an inner road within streets from Chevron to Lekki, and estate on the right of way should be demolished, enough of the shenanigans from those gated estates that won't allow passage to cars who want to avoid the traffic on the Express way.
Finally Mr Governor,it's time to reconstruct the Lekki-Ajah Expressway, the road needs to be a concrete road like what is been done on the Ajah to Epe axis.
If the toll gate has to be reintroduced for funds to be raised to build the rebuild the road I'm totally for it,the suffering of the last 2 days was unbearable for a lot of residents in that Axis. I appreciate the wonderful work being done on the Ajah to Eleko axis and also what was done by Governor Ambode from Eleko to Epe but it needs to be extended from Ajah to Lekki.
Morbeta11: Okoja reiterated that the revalidation of the state’s pledge of 31,000 hectares of land in Gbaramatu Island/Omadino, Warri South-West Local Government Area of the state for the commencement of the project was a crucial step towards its realisation.
He said the project would run across eight ministries, including the Ministry of Solid Minerals, the Ministry of Works, the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, and the Ministry of Power.
YOLO1: I don't have much knowledge about TVs. Budget is 1.5m. Would love to go for either Hisense U8K (65 inches) which goes for 1,487,000 or LG C3 (55 Inches) which goes for 1,538,900. I would appreciate your honest review as I am buying either of the 2 this weekend. Thanks
LG brands anytime from a major mall or an original dealer such as Fouani... and get your warranty in case you've got any unforseen issues that will need to be resolved down the road.
The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has commiserated with Senator Bukola Saraki, on the passing of his beloved mother, Mama Florence Saraki
today Governor Ademola Adeleke visited Senator Bukola Saraki to condole him over the exit of his mother Accompanied by davido father
The Governor expresses heartfelt condolences to Senator Bukola Saraki, his sister, Senator Gbemisola Saraki, and everyone touched by this painful experience, urging to draw strength in the fact that Mama Florence lived a life full of impacts.
Bukola's mother, Mama Florence Saraki hailed for Owo in Ondo State. I loved the warm camaraderie in the video there between Bukola and the Osun Governor Adeleke... "Egbon, bawo ni? e pele..." It's truly a celebration of a life well spent and NOT a time to mourn for a woman of her advanced age in Yoruba culture and indeed most African cultures.
casualobserver: Did you actually read what was posted and if you did where was your powers of deduction?
Wheat does not grow in humid environments so clearly at the time the weather is Ife was not that humid. Weather patterns change over time.
Succinctly put.
The guy you quoted didn't read the post fully or watch the video but simply rushed to make comments. Paying attention to little details is key. Amanda Logan who is a Professor at a Chicago University working on the Ife-Sungbo project since 2018 CLEARLY said in the full video that I watched, that wheat grows better in temperate situations NOT humid conditions and suggested that the wheat may have been first introduced in the Ife (Ufe) area many centuries back via the trans-Saharan trade route through Northern Nigeria OR from elsewhere. Northern Yorubaland is in the North-Central of Nigeria, therefore, Yorubaland had trade ties with other cultures and empires to the North and along the West Coast of Africa.
The crucial thing she said was that cotton cultivation in the 12 Century C.E. was more widespread (than wheat which was found in isolated areas) in Ife and cotton seeds from that era were shown in the video.
Sorghum was expected as it's indigenous to west Africa and has been around since 3000-2000 BC, however, Wheat and cotton were a little bit of surprise.
Cotton was dated to 11th-12th Century and early for such a highly forested area of Ifè and speaks of thriving textile industry that dates back.
The Wheat has been the most exciting find, research report will soon be published in coming months.
The Wheat collection from Ifè is largest in whole of Sub Saharan Africa and dated to 12th-13th century.
Wheat is a big surprise because it's not a crop that grows around Ifè today, Ifè is too Humid and Wheat is a Temperate Crop.
That's really deep. I watched the FULL video here. It's either the wheat was imported from an area where it was favorable to grow wheat OR indeed wheat grew there in Ife (Ufe) due to the prevailing climactic influences as of the 12th Century C.E. and even before then.
The researcher who has worked on the Ife-Sungbo project since 2018, Amanda Logan did suggest that since wheat ONLY grows in a temperate environment and NOT in a humid environment that exists in Ife, then it may have come into Ife via the trans-Saharan route through Northern Nigeria OR from elsewhere and we do know that the Northern Yoruba areaa are in the North-Central of Nigeria, with Yorubaland extending into modern Benin Republic and Togo. In any event, it shows that the ancient or medieval folks in Ife (Ufe) were already civilized, HIGHLY mobile and traveled far and wide for trading. Prof. Amanda Logan did say in the video that cotton presence was more widespread in Ife than wheat which was more localized in an archaeological site.
Globally, we know that large regions of the world have experienced huge changes in vegetation and climactic conditions with the ice in the North Pole now melting and revealing well-preserved bodies of mammoths and some early ice-age men with their working tools.
The Sahara Desert too had large swathes of green vegetation and there is evidence of transportation of goods and humans between West Africa and North Africa. Even satellites in space have since detected evidence that water flowed in the Sahara before the desertification took over.
Waiting to get the updated videos of this project on YouTube.
Peppermaster: OWA PROGRESSIVES PRESS RELEASE ON SENATOR NED NWOKO PROPOSED BILL ON ANIOMA STATE CREATION
We, the members of Owa Progressives in Owa Kingdom comprising the entire Owa young professionals worldwide, held an emergency zoom meeting on the 26th June, 2024, to deliberate on Senator Ned Nwoko's proposed bill for the creation of Anioma State. As aboriginal of Anioma land we feel compelled to add our voice to the raging debate on the proposed bill.
After exhaustive debate, we resolved and state as follows;
1. That we wholeheartedly support the creation of Anioma State 2. That the creation of Anioma State we reasoned, will fulfill the age-long dream of Anioma people to have a State they can call their own. 3. That the creation of Anioma State will benefit the people through increase in representation in the Senate and in the House of Representatives fast track the development of the area, provide wider employment opportunity for our youths, help in the preservation and promotion of our rich cultural heritage, entrust our people with the control, care and efficient management of our resources and environment, accelerate Agribusiness in the area, Anioma being an Agrarian society, boost economic growth and attracts investment, (both local and foreign investments). 4. That taking cognizant of the underlined benefits of having Anioma State, we emphatically opposed Anioma State as an annexure of South East geopolitical zone. 5. That Anioma and South East people are ideologically incompatible. 6. That Senator Ned Nwoko did not consult the people of Owa Kingdom ,otherwise he would have been informed that the people are better off in South South geopolitical zone than moving them to South East and finally 7. We enjoin Senator Ned Nwoko to redraft his bill to address the concerns of vast majority of Owa people.

If you check well, it is possible you took their names and culture and not the other way round.
Today, many colonised people bear European names and imbibe their culture. They also outnumber Europeans.
Old English is basically Flemish which is exactly the same as German. But do you see Germans dragging England?
Same modern English has a lot of borrowed words and names. Christian names like John, Peter and co are common among Europeans but that doesn't make Jews claim that Europeans are their people.
Dutch language is similar to German but you don't see Germans claiming Holland as Deutschland.
OPEN PROTEST TO: THE PRESIDENT AND COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF (FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA) ASO VILLA ABUJA
AND
PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY (THREE ARMS ZONE) ABUJA
AGBOR REJECTS POLITICAL AFILIATION WITH SOUTH-EASTERN NIGERIA
IKORO-AGBOR, comprising of the youth of the entire communities of Agbor Kingdom, met recently in Imobi Agbor and after extensive deliberations on the issues raised by Senator Ned Nwoko - Senator representing Delta North in the subsisting 10th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria - on the matter of ceding the regional affiliation of the prospective Anioma State to South-Eastern Nigeria, unanimously resolved to send to you and publish the following resolutions:
1. That Agbor Kingdom is an integral part of Delta North senatorial district, otherwise called Anioma. We State that Agbor are not in agreement with the published proposition of Senator Ned Nwoko and are therefore opposed to the political affiliation of Anioma to South-Eastern Nigeria.
2. We affirm that Senator Ned Nwoko, the senator representing the Delta North District did not consult with the people of Agbor before issuing his proposition of a prospective Anioma State joining with the South-East in a new Region in Nigeria.
3. That we are by this publication, expressing our disapproval of Senator Nwoko’s conduct of taking such far reaching and binding political decision without prior consultation with the principal stakeholders of the Anioma Region.
4. We inform you that Agbor Kingdom was firmly situated in the Old Western Region where it occupied a pride of place as our king, Obi Obika, as a high ranking Minister, represented the interests of the Anioma people in the Western Region Government.
5. That during the plebiscite that created the Midwest Region in 1964, Agbor people helped mobilize the rest Anioma Region to vote for and become an integral part of the Midwest Region.
6. That the Agbor Kingdom has had no shared history, governing commonality or association with the Igbo before or after British colonialism. While we remain fellow compatriots since the independence of Nigeria in 1960, we have had no relatable administrative experience with South-Eastern Nigeria.
7. That arising from these stated facts, IKORO-AGBOR dissociates the land and people of Agbor from the proposition of Senator Ned Nwoko which we Believe has been published to the National Assembly, the Presidency and other public institutions for consideration. We therefore by this publication declare Nwoko’s unilateral affiliation to the South-East null, void and of no binding effect on Anioma people.
8. That the mandate of Senator Ned Nwoko, representstive of Delta North in the 10th senate of the Republic of Nigeria does not include any permission to railroad or bond the Delta North or Anioma people to a political union with South Eastern Nigeria without the democratic consent of the people expressed in a plebiscite.
9. We hold that any re-arrangement in the political affiliation of the Delta North senatorial district will require a plebiscite to seek a democratic validation as was done before the creation of the Midwest Region in 1964. Agbor was an integral part of that epochal political experience.
10. That the Agbor people remain united with their Anioma brethren in the advocacy for Anioma State, following in the leadership role played by our own Dr. George Oka Orewa of blessed memory, whose pioneering leadership united the Anioma people in the quest for their own state and identity.
11. Finally, Ikoro-Agbor expresses the firm resolve of Agbor people to remain a strong advocate of a future Anioma state that will be solidly an integral part of the South-South region of Nigeria.
Ishilove: That is the sentiment of the average Ukwuani person.
I wouldn't say the Ukwuani are disgusted at the mere thought of being regarded as Igbo. Rather, I would say they just don't identify with the Igbo ethnic group despite having certain linguistic and cultural similarities with them. Identity is like a covering blanket, if you try to take it away from a people, they will react in the most unpredictable ways because it is akin to stripping them nàked. The vast majority of Ukwuani people do not identify as Igbo so always reject any attempt to classify them as one.
@Ishilove, how's it going?
I wanted to send a reply to your post above when I saw it two days ago but I had a limited time frame to spend online, so, I couldn't. From the early 1990s, I started reading more advanced history books and archival materials about the fascinating history of the folks that make up the Anioma communities of Delta North, so, I have deep insights here.
The succinct 2010 viral article excerpts BELOW from Reverend (Dr.) Kunirum Osia (He hailed from Obamkpa in Aniocha North LGA of Delta State and was a popular Catholic priest who served at Ibusa during the Nigerian Civil War. With the aid of Nigerian Federal troops, he helped to coordinate the movements to safety of Ibusa (Igbuzo) indigenes to the much safer Issele Uku camps in Aniocha North LGA when Ibusa came under secessionist rebel attacks leading to the loss of lives) will add some more CLARITY and fresh perspectives to your submissions on the Ukwuani folks of Delta North area of Delta State (otherwise called Anioma or "good land" derived from Aniocha, Ndokwa, Ika, and Oshimili), a name coined in 1951 by Chief Dennis Osadebay.
You can read the FULLER VERSION of Kunirum Osia's 2010 viral article by simply Googling the article title which is right BELOW or by going to the AsabaPost blog source at the end of my NL post here.

Tuesday, February 16, 2010 "Igbocentrism And Anioma Ethnic Identity" By Reverend (Dr.) Kunirum Osia ~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~ Tuesday, February 16, 2010 Igbocentrism And Anioma Ethnic Identity By Reverend (Dr.) Kunirum Osia
FOR decades we, Anioma people, have been buffeted back and forth by people attempting to impose a persona on us. Some described us as being neither here nor there. Others do not give us chance to define and describe who we are as a people. We know exactly who we are. We have no confusions about our geography and genealogy. We know that identity is like gold. Just as the gold bar stands behind a currency as a guarantee of its legal tender, so is identity to an individual or a group. The analogy is only partial, of course, the price of gold may rise or fall, but we tend to pride ourselves on the stability of our identity. Anioma ethnic identity is a value we must guard. In recent times we have contended with the intrusion into Anioma world what we might call the concept of, albeit, reality of Igbocentricism.
By Igbocentrism or Igbocentricity we mean an existential point of view that puts Igbo at the centre of Igbo people's cosmology. Central to Igbocentrism is the idea that people believed or assumed to be Igbo must acknowledge, understand and love their "Igboness" so as to understand and deal with non-Igbo. It is a conceptual approach to human relations from the Igbo point of view. It is an Igbo-centeredness of interpretation of such relations and quotidian realities. Because the vast majority of Anioma people speak dialects derived from the Igbo language, it is assumed that they are "Igbo." Anioma history records individuals from diverse origins. There are in Anioma the "Olukunmi" who speak a variant of Yoruba spoken around Owo. Ebu people in Anioma speak Igala as their mother tongue.
While language delimits cultural fields, it is not permanent because people have mastered more than one language. Language is one of many indices of a culture. Language is not enough to define who a people are. Because Americans or Australians speak English does not make them English. Because Mexicans, Cubans, or Argentineans speak Spanish does not make them Spaniards. The nationals of these countries will not introduce themselves as "English" simply because they speak English nor as Spaniards because they speak Spanish. Those of them who can trace their origin to England or Spain know that over time they have formed a new identity called "American," "Australian," "Mexican," "Cuban," or "Argentinean."
Located at the crossroads of diverse influences, Anioma has developed a syncretic culture rich in varied contributions, and we rightly can talk of an identity that is uniquely Anioma not replicable anywhere in Nigeria. Through culture contact or cultural cross-pollination, borrowing from contiguous neighbours, Anioma displays cultural syncretism in the real sense of the word. History notes that Anioma people trace their origins to Edo, Igala, Yoruba and Igbo. Ibusa (Igbo Uzo) and one part of Ogwashiuku trace their ancestry to Igbo. All other Anioma people trace their origins in entirety to Edo, Igala and Yoruba. From none other than Chief Dennis Osadebay, comes an uncontested account of the origin of 'Ahaba'. Eri, son of Achado, a king of Igala founded the towns of Aguleri, Umuleri, Igbariam and Nteje. If logic is any guide here, Eri we might reason would found a community with the people he knew, namely, Igala. Nnebisi the founder of 'Ahaba' was from Nteje founded by Eri the prince from Igala. Nnebisi married an Igala woman he had won as a prize from the Igala fishermen and traders who frequented 'Ahaba'. This is the verifiable story of the origin of 'Ahaba' (now Asaba).
Osadebay said that another migrant came from Benin and settled in 'Ahaba,' "and so the present natives of Asaba are descendants of Igala in the north, Benin in the west, and Ibo in the east" (Osadebay, Building a Nation, Macmillan, Nigeria Ltd, 1978 p.2). With this from Chief Osadebay, which to our best research has never been denied nor contradicted, we argue that Asaba people are the least Igbo among the very few segments of Anioma that claim Igbo ancestry.
With such a background, one would have thought that the identity of Anioma people would never be a matter of debate nor an issue that might unsettle the tranquility of informed mind. Yet, writings about Anioma people are replete with misconceptions, distortions, selectivity, inaccuracies and just blatant falsehood. Even some Anioma writers peddle stories diffracted into multiple and apocryphal histories that present every Anioma person originating from Nri in Igboland. May we remind the few of Igbo ancestry how much distance the passage of time and the vicissitudes of history have placed between them and their origin? Similarly, we would remind one or two traditional leaders who argue for extension of Igbo hegemony to Anioma, that they are bartering their honour and royalty for vacuous glory in Igboland, and that they do not represent Anioma people.
We reject attempts to Igbonize Anioma. We do not inhabit the same historical and cultural space with Igbos. When ethnicity becomes subject to the elaborations of cultural identity politics, it often develops into a focus of symbolic contestation. Those wanting Anioma to become "Anioma-Igbo" undermine the efforts of our founding fathers who christened us "ANIOMA." Osadebay puts everything in perspective when he stated, "Strictly speaking, Ibo is a linguistic group or a language, not a tribe, as all Ibo-speaking people do not claim origin from any common ancestor" (Osadebay op. cit. 1978, p.14).
Reckless utterances and writings coming from some Igbo people, through Ohaneze Ndigbo and their internet forum intellectuals, that the creation of Anioma state would increase Igbo states, damage Anioma cause. The quest for the creation of Anioma state preceded the creation of the 36 Nigerian states.
Identity is built on choices and commitments. By committing ourselves to Anioma causes our real selves develop. An obstacle to achieving identity is the temptation to avoid choices and postpone decisions. Let us proclaim Anioma by the Enu Ani language that we speak; by the Ika language that we speak; by the Ndokwa language that we speak; by the Olukunmi language that we speak and by the Igala language that we speak.
We should intensify our efforts on the creation of Anioma state where our people will be central characters rather than simple bit players, where the importance of our history lies in its significance for us rather than for others. We do not want to be a pawn simply to checkmate the contending and competing interests of other nationalities in the larger Nigerian collectivity. Our journey involves more than navigating the geography of political boundaries. It is a continuous mapping and remapping of the geography of our culture and identity. We no longer wish to be objects in the history of others rather we wish to be subjects of our own history. Our Anioma ethnic identity is cultural self-definition and philosophical affirmation of our self-determination as a people who see themselves at the crossroads of contemporary Nigeria. It is a refusal to accept the transposition of other people's interpretive categories on Anioma. We bear the name of Anioma with exalted pride, dignity and fidelity. We cherish our distinct identity and unique culture. So, efforts to fit Anioma into the constructs and schemata of Igbo provenance are futile.

sharone21: I'm a FULL BLOODED Ika babe with parents representing the 4 quarters of my place.
Go check..... Even the Binis came to marry from my granddad's quarter, as they KNOW we are THEM and only came to take one of theirs as WIFE.
Leave Yorubas out of this..... That is why out of the 3 major tribes, u come out last..... Too emotional and land grabbers using NAME, LANGUAGE and NO MAN'S LAND.
Change please!
It's very OBVIOUS here to any intelligent person that YOU are indeed an Anioma lady from the Ika area (Agbor or Owa, etc).
These highly irresponsible Ibo youngsters from the core South East have shown repeatedly that they don't respect other peoples' ancestral views. These TOXIC strands among the Ibos who are ignorantly inspired by secessionist groups like "Massob" and "Ipob" have even threatened (going back to the early 2000s till date) to invade Anioma with weapons and chase away OR wipe off the Anioma communities that claim ancestral origins from Bini, Esan and Yoruba (Olukumis), etc, who are indeed on their own ancestral lands in Anioma which are NOT Ibo lands. Even on this thread some of them still repeated that threat and it will NOT be allowed.
There are MANY Edo and Delta States folks who have been using this NL Website for years now, but whenever anybody (in this case, a vast number of Aniomas) debunks the historical falsehoods of the ignorant elements among the Ibos, they then try to derail the threads by bullying and taunting the person with false accusations of being a "Yoruba" or "Hausa" impostor. These are some of the mind games they use to intimidate others. The Yoruba folks have a large population and are more than 50 million people who are indigenous to Nigeria, Benin Republic, Togo, and Ghana, and so are able to checkmate and push back the falsehoods and nonsensical B.S. from the Ibos east of River Niger with regards to there use of propaganda and historical revisionism. This is why these Ibo trolls and youngsters east of River Niger hate the bravery and pushbacks of Yorubas online because it's difficult for them to intimidate or bully Yorubas easily with their sob tales of victimhood unlike other ethnicities that they easily try to bully online via NL, Facebook or X platforms. Many toxic Ibo secessionist, propaganda Websites exist online (because I used to monitor them right from the 1990s on Yahoo! Groups) and they are used to spread massive hate speeches and fabricated stories about other ethnic groups right from the 1990s, but it got worse from the early 2000s with the rise of the secessionist group called "Massob" and then after 2010 with Kanu leaving "Massob" to set up "Ipob."
Many Anioma folks have spoken extensively over many years gone by about NOT wanting to be called Ibos because of their mixed ancestral origins from Bini, Esan, Yoruba (Olukumis of Aniocha North LGA), Igalas of Ebu and Asaba, Nri Ibo, Urhobo, etc, but these deaf and dumb elements among the Ibo youngsters on NL and other online platforms from the South East Iboland continue to make big FOOLS of themselves online and offline and create enemies for themselves due to the hate speeches and insults they heap on the Aniomas and other ethnic groups. The Intelligence agencies will have to really step in to disrupt the toxic online activities of these people.
NOTE: @Sharone21, you can READ the NL post I just made to @Ishi.love right below this post which contains excerpts of a FULLER VERSION of Reverend Father (Dr) Kunirum Osia's 2010 viral article on the TRUE Anioma history by simply Googling the article title which is right BELOW or by going to the AsabaPost blog source at the end of my NL post here.

sharone21: TRUE SUMMARY: We, the TRUE PEOPLE of Delta North, will RESIST ANIOMA State with our blood as that is the way Igbons will enter more into our land and dominate us using language and names.
We pray our brother, the Governor of Delta State act in his God given power to help us flush this land grabbers through several means as they tried to use the last government to gain ground even with getting the 'goodies' in Delta State including jobs, opportunities etc which the aboriginal people lack and still lack because certain Senators instead of fulfilling the desires of my people via developments and creating viable opportunities are bent on becoming Igbos- for political relevance( including joining OHANEZE organization).
The creation of additional States in the name of balancing regions is UNNECESSARY. Government never fit pay minimum wage na to create more States, meaning in order to balance regions, many will lose their jobs.... Na same Niger Delta oil money a lot of States are depending on when we need more development in our ALREADY FOUGHT FOR region. BENDEL has NEVER been under Eastern region, so why now?
We do NOT NEED ANIOMA State whether in Ala- Igbo or in SS as we have NO DNA or ANCESTRAL links with Igbons.
