folake4u:Oh wow, the bolded all show that "you're on fire" already with your convo here. As a young female lawyer, I trust you're in good hands to do all that you've stated here and more. The road won't be totally smooth, but you'll get to your targets. Just a quick note: I've been a member of NL since 2005, (i.e., 19 years now)... My take is that you ignore most of those random online trolls and ethnic bigots as much as possible to save much of your energy levels... It'll starve them of any "will power" to further hurl misogynistic insults and derail threads which is their main objective, and they'll crawl (like the emotional weaklings that they are) right behind the curtain where they truly belong! The NL Report Button, screenshots as evidence, and the supermods are the other major weapons for lethally dealing real hard with these creeps. |

folake4u:@Folake, Indeed... But most of these youngsters won't listen or learn till they get burned badly. A lot of those majorly toxic male trolls are NO doubt "incels" who are insecure, frustrated or have a hard time getting girlfriends, so, they take out their internal frustrations on everyone especially online where they think there is some anonymity. What these youngsters do NOT realize is that they can easily bring many "positives" into their own lives by being CLEARLY intentional and reading books such as "How to Win Friend & Influence People" OR read a good book on the "Laws of Attraction." If you're NOT happy with your own life, there's absolutely NO way you will be able to make others happy. This is why people go into relationships OR marriage (just to satisfy social obligations) and they fail big time! We live in a world of vibrational "cause and effect." It's what you give out into the ethers that you get in return and more. Last but not least Folake, yes, congratulations to all of us on the arrest of that male "scoundrel" and "sewage rat" that killed the fresh UNIBEN graduate (Glory Idowu Adekolure) last month. I read about the arrest and confessions of the criminal on the front page yesterday while going through the different newspaper headlines. The untared road location where the crime took place in the evening was bushy and NOT properly illuminated. This is a warning for everyone to not walk late at night and in unilluminated areas. I hope he gets the capital punishment ASAP. You can also see that those who falsely assumed online that she was a member of the so-called "black bra" female gang embarrassingly jumped the gun and it reaffirms what you also said on that Oba of Benin/Olumide Akpata NL thread about lawyers black outfits. It was a pure case of a serial killer from Akwa Ibom State on the loose as alleged by him. Whenever a girl is declared missing or found dead, the first thing these emotional weaklings do is to start cursing out online that she must have been into hookup activities or other negatives. The odds are stacked against females sometimes, but y'all have to keep truckin'. It's not all negatives because MOST female top Nigerian bank bosses (CEOs) are females as I type this. The aviation sector also has more Nigerian female commercial pilots in and more. =>https://www.nairaland.com/8139941/killed-four-girls-suspect-arrested Okay Fola, enjoy your day. Talk to you later. Ciao. ![]() |

IjebuWarrior:Bump. That interesting... He got the regular Lagos and SW Danfo conductor accent right. Ah! I just found out that his pseudonym is Oyinbo Rebel but real names are Faris Boulos and he was born in Houston, Texas in the U.S. He's also from the famous and wealthy Lebanese-French Boulos family who are based in Lagos State. His biological brother of Lebanese-French descent was dating Donald Trump's daughter. =>https://punchng.com/i-like-speaking-yoruba-to-impress-people-lebanese-entertainer-oyinbo-rebel/ =>https://www.nairaland.com/6380416/meet-nigeria-based-oyibo-rebel-trumps |
ebukajay184:That's a Nigerian-American police officer he is having a convo with. The officer said he likes the song "Alimi" which obviously shows that this young guy is quite talented. Regardless, this young dude has to clean up his interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including his alleged hard substances intake through a major rehab led by his Managers so that he doesn't finally wreck himself and his family through major financial loses. There is a global pattern for decades now showing some musicians, sportsmen and women, etc, who have mentally and socially spiralled out of control and completely lost everything due to reckless lifestyles. A word is enough for any wise person. Period. |
Eriokanmi:Indeed, it's a unique setting but not my personal style. For me, I've always had a preference for serene destination weddings with the beachfront and gazebo as a backdrop in a place like Maui in Hawaii or the Seychelles Islands, etc. Omotola Jalade and Mathew Ekeinde, her Edo-born pilot husband did a wedding on an aircraft while in the air some years back. This was after they had done an initial wedding in Lagos a few years before. |
SmartPolician:Even some United States and United Kingdom citizens have acquired Canadian citizenship for extra layers of security. Way higher than the number of Nigerians who have adopted Canadian citizenship. You have to spread your risks across multiple jurisdictions. Keep the base down!

Ibrahimcoomasie:The business model that Saheed Ashogbon is planning on diving into has to be matter-of-factly analysed using a SWOT test so as not to run into financial headwinds. Even the new vehicle assembly and manufacturing space for sedans and buses in Nigeria is already saturated unless a savvy entrepreneur can come up with newer purchasing schemes and innovative green technologies to disrupt the existing structure. I wish him well though for thinking about investing on the continent unlike other African Diasporans (based in the U.S., UK, Canada, Netherlands, etc) who aren't motivated to identify gaps in specific business niches or those who simply sever ties with their ancestral roots. |
Mariangeles:My pleasure @Mariaangeles. Most of the thread topics that you've been creating are stimulating and those who have the power of "discernment" are able to gain new insights from your posts. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday. Ciao. |

Islie:To avoid any air mishaps that would take the lives of the Nigerian President and his Vice-President while on important International flights, it's better to get that reposesed Airbus A330 ASAP with careful negotiations. They could go for a smaller pre-owned but newer aircraft for the Vice-President of Nigerian since that would also be cheaper than buying a new aircraft. |
officialwdhtv:It's heart warming that this criminal who is singing like a "parrot" in the video has been apprehended at last. He alleges that he's from Akwa Ibom State and that claim should be investigated as well because many of these criminals lie a lot. The capital punishment must be applied to the letter in this case. This incident also emphasizes the importance of NOT walking on lonely roads that are bushy in the evenings and at nights to by females and indeed everyone unless the footpaths or roads are well illuminated. |
Mariangeles:These are interesting feedbacks here. Yes, indeed! Abidjan in Cote d'Ivoire is a VERY beautiful commercial city. That's why it's called the "Paris of Africa" for many years now. I first visited Abidjan via a commercial aircraft in the late 1980s and that country has maintained the proper planning with well-maintained majorly French and Japanese cars, wide boulevards and well-planned residential and commercial districts. They speak French and their indigenous languages such as Baoule (Baoules are directly related ancestrally to the famous Akan people who live right across the border in Ghana) but a significant number of them also speak conversational English. You should visit Cote d'Ivoire on holiday someday to get a hang of what I'm saying here. A massive population of Yoruba folks (from Ejigbo in Osun State and Oyo State, etc), for over 130 years now, have lived in Cote d'Ivoire and engaged in international trading and other occupations as well. Over 2.8 million of them live there and some have since become citizens of Cote d'Ivoire. They constitute the largest group out of about 3 million folks of Nigerian descent in that country based on data from the Nigerian Embassy in Abidjan. So, being a Gen Z chef or foodie that you are, I know that experimentation is the norm for you and others. Regardless, the preponderance of the #5 classic fried plantain diagonal cut ISN'T just because it's the major choice for folks of Nigerian descent, but it's the major "default setting" for sliced dodo in many tropical countries where plantains are naturally grown such as Jamaica, Philippines, etc. As for the use of olive oil (or any other healthy one like canola oil), a little quantity of about 100 mls in the fry pan is the best OR you can air fry the sliced plantain placed in a rack for about 15 minutes at 380°F (or 180°C) to get your dodo. Deep frying requires more oil use but then it fries faster and you may not have to turn the other side over with deep frying. Indeed, you've got great taste buds @Mariangeles, I noticed that too... palm oil has a distinct taste when used to fry plantains and when added to beans cooked in the pressure cooker than any other. I had to switch to olive oil back in the day when I started reading about some health concerns about excessive intake or use of palm oil. However, current medical research indicates that cholesterol ISN'T the primary cause of heart attacks or cardiac arrests but that cholesterol travels to the site of the existing damage in the heart to repair the damage. The research further indicates that the human body actually needs cholesterol from oils (such as palm oil) to synthesize other enzymes in the body for optimal health. This is why they say that majority of those who have heart attacks actually have NORMAL blood cholesterol. I found all that new medical research to be very insightful. Last but not least, enjoy the videos below... Mariangeles:Guilty is an "understatement." ![]() Have you ever physically been to Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) and Ghana before? Lovely countries especially the Cote d'Ivoire. So, from the responses so far, the classic #5 cut seems to be the favorite for dodo here. I was "updating" my original post on your thread here and didn't realize you had replied me. I want you to read it again and give suggestions on whether my regular oil (which is olive oil) would still ensure that I'll get slightly different tastes with the different plantain cuts? Any suggestions on alternative healthy oils for frying? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-P0hestBwA |
Mariangeles:#5 (and sometimes #2) are my CLASSIC slices for dodo. #s 1, 2, 3 out of the window... Anything less than the BEST is a felony. Really? The bolded info above is new to me, I'll try different slices of dodo (fried in olive oil) and see how they pan out with my taste buds.

adamusuleiman1:At last. The Calabar section of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is about to commence. To speed up the full construction so as to finish in record time ahead of the 8 years originally planned, another road construction segment would have to be opened in Bayelsa or Delta States. Kudos to all those who are working on this massive infrastructural project and it is hoped that more NNPC CNG refill stations would be built in more regions of Nigeria as promised just like NNPC has done in Lagos State on May 30, 2024... Where CNG is being sold cheaply at N200 per standard cubic feet to happy car and truck drivers. This mass CNG deployment would lower the cost of transportation of good, people and food items. |

obonujoker:Lagos State is what it is because of relentless immigration of low-income economic migrants from Nigeria and other West African countries. Same thing is happening to Abuja with folks fleeing from conflict zones flooding in just like they do in Lagos and PH thereby putting massive strains on the resources and infrastructural facilities. Only the devolution of powers would ensure that Lagos State has a breather from overpopulation and make Lagos more livable. Period. |
