Olasijibomi Of Sujimoto Luxury Construction Declared Wanted By The EFCC
I follow Sujimoto on IG among several global business and political icons and I remember when the young man passionately stated his housing partnership with Enugu State. He came off as someone who truly loves Enugu State despite being a successful Lagos-based luxury construction guy and more.

I'm surprised that things just went south months later.

Sijibomi should have simply stuck to his niche luxury houses and apartments construction in Lagos State and other contiguous locations instead of accepting the Enugu State project which he said the Governor didn't have enough money to cover. I hope he pulls through and reconciles his differences with Enugu State. Sijibomi has always been a fighter from his teenage years and he will most definitely bounce back. Lessons learned: Do NOT take up capital intensive projects in times of economic uncertainties. Period.

Property development is all dandy when everything goes well.

This guy was caught up in the mess created when naira was suddenly devalued and prices of everything shot up non-stop for over 18 months.

Many developers who had collected part payment for properties and started construction based on a certain sale price suddenly couldn't complete the properties as building materials prices trippled in most cases, and there was no money to make refund.

Many property developers caught up in that saga have abandoned several uncompleted buildings and counting their losses as they hide from baying buyers who are demanding a refund.

I imagine this guys situation is even worse because he was involved at the upscale luxurious end of the market where a lot of things are imported and the cost of building is much higher.

Why is he not presenting himself to EFCC. If he can establish that the petitioners funds was lost in the normal course of the business of construction, then he has committed no crime. In those circumstances, the lost funds will be considered a business loss which those who deposited money for properties have to bear.
This is why borrowing from offshore sources at single digit interest rates for medium-term to long-term construction projects is key. You cannot use the more expensive short-term funds or loans for long-term housing projects and other constructions.

That a project has been budgeted for doesn't exclude it from benefiting from public donations especially when the project is a public service like a library, university etc.

Many Nigerians don't even understand the concept of a budget which is an estimate of what the ministry intends to do "IF" the funds requested are provided the reality is the government then have to generate a surplus revenue or go borrow to fund that budget.

Most budgets in Nigeria are unfortunately not always implemented due to funding constraints, it was only under the Buhari administration that we first went past 70% budget performance. They claimed as high as 93% over the 8 yrs but I doubt that figure.

It's is not peculiar to Nigeria the call for donations, our national children's hospital in the country I reside has gone over budget something like 250% and has been delayed over 3yrs but we all still donate to the cause and the national cancer research which I donate over £20 to monthly which is funded by the government and othe endowments and charity trusts but there is never enough funding for education, research, public services etc.
Indeed, you were highly impressive with the succinct explanations you gave to that female poster who posted deliberate disinformation here. The woman (Remi Tinubu) simply requested for any donations for her 65th birthday to be made towards the completion of that National Library project due to her love for education and knowledge.

This is regardless of any existing budget meant for it's completion. I listened to an audio recording of what Senator 'Remi Tinubu said and it was done with absolutely PURE intentions. Is it too difficult for some of these slow-thinking people to understand?

A Nigerian lady who identifies as @miss_arhaan has shared online what became of her face after she ate Catfish.

The lady who had no idea that she was allergic to the protein woke up with all her facial attributes swollen to a large extent.

According to her, she had an allergic reaction a day after consuming a catfish which resulted in her having a swollen face.

In the images she shared online, she showed off her face before and after she ate the meal which looked totally different.

In another picture, she was seen nursing and trying to contain the reaction by applying an unknown ointment on her face.

Some internet users who came across her post were left in disbelief as they found it hard to believe that Nigerians also have allergies.

Below are some of the comments;

@Innie023: Jesus. She almost turned to the catfish. Omo!!

@RespiratoryDafe: Allergy is one of those things we don’t talk about in Nigeria. Think about people in jail or called witches simply cos someone ate in their house, had allergy to something in the food, got anaphylaxis, and passed. On the brighter side of this, she knows not to eat catfish again

@HonestinaOfoha: Surely Not The Catfish, But One Particular Ingredient Used in Preparing The Fish, The Ingredient Might Contain a Particular Substance Extracted From Something You’re Actually Allergic To

@rosythrone: How many of us that still don’t know what we’re allergic to, that’s if we even have self??

The Future of Sustainable Agriculture.

Due to sea levels rise and land scarcity, Netherlands is leading the way with an ingenious solution - floating farms.

They're built on water, can withstand floods and adapt to changing sea levels,
making them climate-resilient by design.

By harnessing solar power, wind energy, and rainwater harvesting, these floating farms produce fresh food - from dairy to hydroponic vegetables - without occupying precious land. This revolutionary approach offers a sustainable blueprint for farming in an era of climate uncertainty.

Imagine growing crops and raising animals on water. I asked AI if this was fake but it confirms that it is true. Neatherland is doing it.

This is good for areas where land is scarce and very expensive. Using such land for agriculture will not be profitable.

Also, there is no need to try and reclaim land from the sea, which is very expensive and time-consuming.

Ref: http://farmersjoint.com/thread-31151.html
I see a lot of backward integration going on in Netherlands using this agribusiness ecosystem strategy.

The US Department of Agriculture has granted approval to Upside Foods and Good Meat, allowing them to sell lab-grown chicken products in the country.

This marks the first time lab-grown meats have been authorized for sale in the US. The companies’ meat-processing facilities have met the USDA’s standards and will undergo regular inspections, enabling the products to be sold on a larger scale.

Lab-grown meat is created using animal cells in bioreactors, offering a more ethical alternative to traditional meat.

While challenges remain in terms of scalability and consumer acceptance, Upside Foods and Good Meat plan to introduce their products in select restaurants and locations

SonOfDSoil01:
grin op I will advise you to continue buying your eggs from the retail store because what you just outlined is not feasible. I’m a poultry farmer and I own a poultry farm, not a very large farm but in commercial quantity.

Let me start by telling you that, a cartoon of pullet contains 50 chicks and 1 extra. No one will sell 10 chicks to you at day old except you are buying from a brooder. I just restock last month and the price of one is 1,800 and price is not stable. They change from week to week and also base on demand.

Except you are raising them for commercial purpose, I will advise not to waste your time venturing into egg production. Poultry is not for all comer affair and I am telling this as an experience farmer of over 6yrs and it’s not for faint hearted grin

Poultry farming expecially for egg production is serious business and if you don’t have the experience or someone experienced in it to guide you through, you will regret investing your money into it. It is capital intensive, start from the housing, cage, feeding, drugs and vaccines. All this are not cheap.

To raise just 100 layers to the point of lay, aside from housing and cage. It will cost you close to a million, if not more than that and you will also factor in the numbers that will survive because not all of them will make it to the point of laying except you have an experience hand to guide you through or else premium tears await you.

There is so much I would have love to break down for you but time will not permit. Just save yourself the stress and continue buying from the store. People don’t know the effort farmers put in it before you have a poultry egg on your plate grin the hike in price is due to the cost of production and feed though it’s gradually coming down but the middle men are also to be blamed for the hike because of their greed grin

If you want to raise chicken for
your personal consumption and
sell a crate to your neighborhood
store every other day, simply buy 30
point of lay hens.

30 hens will give you average of 25
eggs everyday and will consume about
One bag of feed in one week.

You'll be getting about 7 crates every week.

Even if you keep 2 crates per week for
family consumption, the remaining 5
crates can be sold to buy their feed and
medication.

At the end of their laying period, you recover
your initial capital you utilized to buying them at point of lay POL, when you sell them of as old layers.

It's thus a win, win.
AgricultureRe: Is Raising Chickens For Eggs Cheaper Than Buying Them In Nigeria (2025)? My Brea by Konquest: 12:48am On Sep 06, 2025
babatee126:
Hello Nairalanders,

With the way the price of everything is shooting up, especially food items, many of us are looking for ways to save money and still eat well. A crate of eggs that used to be a "last resort" protein is now becoming a luxury item.
1
2

This got me thinking: with the current price of eggs in the market, would it be cheaper to just raise my own chickens for eggs?

I see many people asking this question, so I decided to do a proper breakdown based on today's prices in Nigeria. Let's settle this debate once and for all. Is it truly cheaper to raise your own layers or should you just keep buying from the market?

The Cost of Buying Eggs in Nigeria (As of Late 2025)

First, let's look at what we are trying to beat. The price of a crate of eggs fluctuates, but as of now, you're looking at anywhere from ₦5,000 to ₦6,000 in cities like Lagos and Abuja, depending on the size and where you buy from.
1
2
3
At the farm gate, it might be a bit lower, around ₦4,800, but after the middlemen add their own costs, the price shoots up.
1

So, let's use an average of ₦5,500 per crate as our benchmark.

The Real Cost of Raising Your Own Chickens for Eggs

To figure this out, we need to look at all the costs involved from day-old chick to the point they start laying eggs (which is usually around 18-22 weeks).

Let's assume we want to start small with 10 layers.

1. Cost of Day-Old Chicks (Pullets): You don't want to buy broilers if you want eggs; you need layers, specifically pullets. Good quality day-old layer chicks (like Isa Brown) from reputable hatcheries cost between ₦1,200 and ₦1,500 per chick.
4

Total for 10 chicks: 10 x ₦1,350 = ₦13,500
2. Feeding Costs (The Biggest Expense): This is where most of your money will go. A chicken eats in stages, and each stage has a different type of feed.

Chick Mash (0-8 weeks): A 25kg bag costs between ₦13,000 and ₦19,000.
5
Let's use an average of ₦16,000. Your 10 chicks will consume about one bag during this period.
Grower Mash (8-18 weeks): A 25kg bag is around ₦15,000 - ₦19,500.
5
6
Let's average it at ₦17,000. Your birds will eat roughly 3-4 bags during this phase. (4 x ₦17,000 = ₦68,000)
Layer Mash (18 weeks onwards): This is what they'll eat throughout their laying life. A 25kg bag costs about ₦18,500.
6
Once they start laying, 10 hens will consume about one 25kg bag every 2-3 weeks.
Total Feed Cost to Point-of-Lay (First 18 weeks): ₦16,000 (chick mash) + ₦68,000 (grower mash) = ₦84,000

3. Medications and Vaccines: You can't escape this if you want your birds to survive. You'll need to vaccinate against diseases like Newcastle and Gumboro.

Vaccines: A vial of 1000 doses for ND-IB might cost around ₦3,070, but you'll likely buy from a vet who breaks it down.
7
Essential Drugs: You'll also need anti-coccidial drugs, dewormers, and stress-reducing vitamins.
8
9
Estimated cost for a small flock for the first year: Let's budget a realistic ₦10,000 - ₦15,000 to be safe.
4. Housing (Coop) and Equipment: This is a one-time cost. You can build a simple coop yourself with wood, wire mesh, and roofing sheets.

DIY Coop: You could spend between ₦30,000 and ₦70,000 depending on the size and materials.
Feeders and Drinkers: For 10 birds, budget about ₦5,000 - ₦8,000.
Let's take a modest one-time setup cost of ₦40,000.

The Grand Total (Initial Investment)

Chicks: ₦13,500
Feed (to point-of-lay): ₦84,000
Medications: ₦15,000
Housing/Equipment: ₦40,000
TOTAL INITIAL COST: ~₦152,500
This is the money you spend before you see your first egg.

So, When Do You Break Even?

A good, healthy layer will lay about 5-6 eggs a week. With 10 hens, you can expect about 50-60 eggs per week, which is almost 2 crates.

Value of eggs per week: 2 crates x ₦5,500 = ₦11,000
Cost of feed per week (Layers Mash): They will eat about half a bag a week, which is roughly ₦9,250.
Weekly Profit (on paper): ₦11,000 (eggs) - ₦9,250 (feed) = ₦1,750

With this, it would take a very long time to recover your initial ₦152,500 investment.

The Verdict: Is It Cheaper?

From a purely Naira-for-Naira perspective, for the first year, NO, it is not cheaper to raise your own chickens for eggs than to buy them. The initial setup cost and the high price of feed are the biggest factors.

However, this is not the full story. For a more detailed look at the long-term costs versus benefits, you can check out this comprehensive guide: Is Raising Backyard Chickens Cheaper Than Buying Eggs?

But Wait! There Are Other Benefits (The "Intangibles"wink

Freshness and Quality: You cannot compare the taste and quality of a fresh egg from your backyard with one that has been in storage for weeks. The yolk is richer, and you know exactly what your chickens ate.
Pest Control: Chickens are amazing at clearing your compound of insects, weeds, and other pests.
Source of Meat: At the end of their laying cycle (usually 1.5 - 2 years), these birds become a source of meat for the pot.
Fertilizer: Chicken manure is gold for anyone who has a small garden. It's a free, high-quality fertilizer.
Conclusion

If your only goal is to save money on eggs immediately, then raising chickens is probably not for you right now, especially with the high cost of feed.

However, if you see it as a long-term project and you value the benefits of fresh, healthy food, self-sufficiency, and the experience of raising animals, then it is an incredibly rewarding venture. The costs become more manageable in the second year when your major one-time expenses (like the coop) are already covered.

What do you guys think? Have you tried raising your own layers? What was your experience with the costs? Let's discuss
An interesting topic.

BlackViper:
A US lawyer with the same name as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is suing the social media platform, arguing it keeps suspending his account while falsely accusing him of "impersonating a celebrity".

Mark S Zuckerberg says his account has been disabled five times over the past eight years, and it has cost him thousands of dollars in lost business.

The Indiana bankruptcy attorney's lawsuit states that he has been practising law for 38 years - ever since Mark E Zuckerberg, now one of the richest men in the world, was a toddler.

Meta said it had reinstated the lawyer's account and was taking steps to prevent the mistake recurring.

"It's not funny," Mr Zuckerberg told WTHR-TV in Indianapolis, Indiana. "Not when they take my money."

The lawsuit, filed in Marion Superior Court, argues that Facebook parent company Meta is in breach of contract because he paid $11,000 (£8,200) for advertising that was improperly taken down.

"It's like buying a billboard on the side of the highway, paying the people for the billboard and then they come and put a giant blanket over it and you don't get the benefit of what you paid for," he told WTHR.

Emails with Facebook that Mr Zuckerberg shared with local media indicate the company had accused him of not using his "authentic name".

He said that he has submitted his photo ID, his credit cards, and multiple images of his face in order to prove his identity.

"I'm Mark Steven. And he's Mark Elliot," Mr Zuckerberg told WTHR.

His account was shut down in May, and only restored after his lawsuit was filed.

In a statement, the company said it had "reinstated Mark Zuckerberg's account, after finding it had been disabled in error".

"We appreciate Mr Zuckerberg's continued patience on this issue and are working to try and prevent this from happening in the future."

Mr Zuckerberg, who specialises in bankruptcy law, started a website to track mix-ups over his name, including the time he was inadvertently sued by the state of Washington for abuse.

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c5yk810pgkko cc
It was an "honest and irritating" mistake done to a fee-paying client though.

From here on out, Mark E. Zuckerberg MUST ensure that his Meta team do NOT ever suspend the OLDER bankruptcy attorney, Mark S. Zuckerberg again. Period.

I have to step in to correct the massive historical disinformation in your post! Let's be clear.

What influence or subduing are you going on about here? DON'T make misleading comments here by giving that girl named Raye any iota of credit for any monthly stipend increase.

The NYSC and the Nigerian Goverment had already planned since late 2024 to increase the monthly stipend for these young ones in 2025 and these FACTS were all over online media outlets and more. Eventually, the overdue stipend increase was carried out. The NYSC and the Federal Government MUST be commended for fulfilling that promise! It CLEARLY had NOTHING to do with that girl in the video who just ranted away blindly in her original video in my opinion. The quest to bring down the cost of food items over there in Nigeria lies LARGELY with the State Governors and their Commissioners of Agriculture who are closer to the people NOT the FG, as can be seen with the recent launch of 150 CNG-fueled 40ft haulage trucks by the Lagos State Governor under the "Produce for Lagos" program with the immediate plan to crash the cost of food by 50% while cutting off
those insidious middle men. I watched a video just last week where the cost of foods and commodities in Yobe State have dropped sharply with very "low inflation rate" due to the FACT that Yobe farmers were given totally free tractors for cultivation.
That's another creative way that shows that the Nigerian Governors and their Commissioners of Agriculture have to sit up to tackle high food costs and inflation. Period.

You are spot on. Adventurous Americans easily buy properties in other countries and many of them just sell off one of their properties in America or withdraw a chunk of their retirement fund. Some don't own homes for flexibility reasons but are very aggressive market investors.

I watch a channel on YouTube and average Americans buy up nice retirement houses in South Africa, Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Aruba, Panama, Mexico etc.

The problem with many Nigerians home and abroad remains basic financial planning. The best person to take care of you tomorrow is the "you" of today. That tiny $200 that you waste on impressing irrelevant people today is potentially $10,000 in a few decades with smart investment choices.
@Shikena

I'm thoroughly impressed by your brilliant convo and submissions here. Matter-of-factly, just as you said, some Americans are indeed moving to other countries such as those in the Caribbean, Brazil, Ghana and more to live. Hiring a maid (or other domestic staff) in specific Brazil cities is way cheaper than hiring someone to do the same job description in the United States. There's an American couple I know who completely moved to Brazil for peace of mind with their young, school-age kids and ONLY visit the United States on holidays.

I've followed and watched a couple of rock-solid finance and investment YT channels and IG for years now based off of "smark risk" principle. I'd appreciate if YOU can give me the SPECIFIC YouTube channel you emphasized on right in your post as the one you watch.

BusinessRe: FCCPC Unveils Rules To End Loan App Harassment, Impose ₦100 Million Sanctions by Konquest: 6:27pm On Sep 05, 2025
adenigga:
The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has rolled out regulations to curb harassment, data breaches, and other unethical practices by digital lenders in Nigeria.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the FCCPC’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Ondaje Ijagwu, which quoted the Commission’s Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Tunji Bello, as unveiling the new framework in Abuja on Wednesday.

“For too long, Nigerians have endured harassment, data breaches, and unethical practices by unregulated digital lenders.

“These regulations draw a clear line that innovation is welcome, but not at the expense of the rights and dignity of consumers or the rule of law,” the CEO noted.

Bello added, “The regulations provide the legal tools to hold violators accountable and promote responsible digital finance. No consumer should be harassed, defamed, or lured into unsustainable debt under the guise of digital lending.”

The statement noted that the Digital, Electronic, Online, or Non-Traditional Consumer Lending Regulations (DEON Consumer Lending Regulation), 2025, took effect on 21 July.

Made pursuant to Sections 17, 18 and 163 of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (2018), the rules introduce a comprehensive framework to safeguard consumers in Nigeria’s fast-growing digital credit market.

Under the provisions, all digital lenders must register with the FCCPC within 90 days of commencement, with approval subject to meeting standards of transparency, data compliance, and consumer protection.

Non-compliant operators face penalties of up to ₦100 million or 1% of turnover, as well as possible disqualification of directors for up to five years.

The rules prohibit pre-authorised or automatic lending, ban unethical marketing, compel accessible loan terms, and require local ownership of at least one service provider for airtime and data lending services.

They also mandate joint registration of lender partnerships and restrict monopolistic agreements without prior FCCPC approval.

The Commission urged all Mobile Money Operators (MMOs), Digital Money Lenders (DMLs) and service partners to obtain application forms, guidelines and compliance requirements.

Consumers have also been encouraged to report unlawful or unregistered lenders, unfair interest rates, or privacy violations.

PropertiesRe: Tenant Disappears After Selling Landlord’s Duplex For ₦83 Million by Konquest: 6:20pm On Sep 05, 2025
lagostrendboy:
A shocking case of real estate fraud has emerged in Lagos after a tenant allegedly sold his landlord’s 4-bedroom duplex for a staggering ₦83 million and vanished with the proceeds. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The story was revealed by a Nigerian property lawyer, @theomonilelawyer, who shared the details via TikTok. According to him, the tenant had occupied the property for seven years before pulling off the elaborate scam.

How the Tenant Pulled Off the Fraud
The tenant reportedly forged multiple documents — including a deed of assignment, survey plan, and receipts purportedly signed by the Okota family — to convince a buyer that the duplex was legitimately up for sale.

After securing the ₦83 million payment, the tenant even requested a four-month grace period to “relocate,” claiming he needed time to settle elsewhere.

How the Scam Was Exposed

The fraudulent deal began to unravel when an agent noticed inconsistencies. The buyer was led to believe the house was vacant and for sale, but records showed it was actually under tenancy.

The true owner of the duplex, who had been outside the country, has since returned to Nigeria. The matter is now under active police investigation.

Lawyer’s Warning to Property Buyers

Reacting to the case, the lawyer issued a strong warning to Nigerians about the dangers of rushing into property purchases without proper checks.

“Always verify ownership before paying for any land or property. Don’t fall victim to scammers parading as landlords or family representatives,” he cautioned.

Conclusion

This incident is a reminder of the rising cases of property scams in Lagos and across Nigeria. Buyers are urged to conduct due diligence, hire trusted professionals, and confirm ownership documents from verified land registries before parting with their hard-earned money.

PoliticsRe: Reno Omokri Attacks Peter Obi, El-Rufai And Daily Trust Newspaper by Konquest: 5:55pm On Sep 05, 2025
Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai, ADC, and Daily Trust Show Economic Illiteracy By Attacking FG's Investment in Lagos

Please fact-check me: In 2024, Lagos generated 54% of the total VAT generated by Nigerian states at ₦2.75 trillion. Yet, despite contributing 54% of Nigeria's VAT, Lagos got back only 16.74% of what it contributed, which was just ₦460.11 billion.

Nobody complained about this, especially when money generated by Lagos was paid to states in other regions.

But now, you see media, like Daily Trust, the African Democratic Congress, and disgruntled politicians, like Peter Obi and Malam Nasir el-Rufai, sponsoring people to sow seeds of discord by accusing President Bola Tinubu of focusing on Lagos to the detriment of other states and geopolitical zones.

If Nigeria does not invest in the goose that lays 54% of its VAT revenue, how will that goose continue to lay the Golden Egg?

Let me give you an example.

Please fact-check me: Detty December attracts $72 million to Lagos's economy annually. That money helps Lagos generate the highest VAT revenue in Nigeria, which enables the Federal Government to pay states like Anambra three times the revenue that Anambra contributes to the VAT pool and pay Zamfara almost four times what that state generates in VAT
revenue.

By spending $400 million to increase MMIA's capacity from its present 6.5 million passengers to 20 million a year, Nigeria will attract more tourists to Lagos and environs, expanding the state's revenue from Detty December to a projected $180 million annually.

That money will yield additional VAT generation for the Federal Government. Since Lagos generates more than 50% of Nigeria's VAT revenue and is a net contributor, whatever benefits Lagos State adds value to all Nigerian states.

With Detty December alone, the airport upgrade will pay for itself in just five years.

It amounts to short-sightedness for politicians and individuals from states that are net recipients of VAT from Lagos to attack President Tinubu for progressively taking steps to ensure that Lagos State is in a position to continue generating more wealth for the rest of Nigeria.
