FoodRe: Balut: Can You Eat This? (Pictures) by Konquest:
Mariangeles:
It is called balut .
It is fertilized duck egg (embryos), usually incubated for a period of about 17-21 days, before it is cooked.

A popular street food, commonly eaten (with salt) in the Philippines.
It is high in protein.

To eat, the top of the egg is gently cracked and peeled a bit, the broth inside slurped up, then the rest of egg peeled and eaten (its entire content).

I got to know about it through a Filipino series I watched sometime ago.

So, can you dare to eat balut?
What is the strangest thing you have ever eaten?

Balut... Duck eggs fertilized for 17-21 days then eaten. Whoever came up with this Balut cuisine back in the day MUST have been desperately hungry or something.

"A popular street food eaten largely in Southeast Asian countries such as Philippines, Cambodia, and Vietnam."

I do NOT have an appetite for this kind of cuisine tbh.

I don't like tasting strange things I'm NOT familiar with or things that haven't been personally recommended to me by a trusted reviewer. I almost tasted sushi a couple of years back while in a Jap restaurant but had to let go. The thought of simply eating "raw fish" didn't resonate with my brain cells. Even in Japan where sushi is traditionally from, folks there have experienced food poisoning from eating sushi made from raw fish!
Foreign AffairsRe: Trump Hints At Regime Change In Iran by Konquest: 9:26pm On Jun 24, 2025
Islie:
by Claire Mom

United States President Donald Trump has hinted at the possibility of a regime change in Iran as the tension between the Middle East country and Israel escalates.

Trump bared his mind in a post on his social media page after the US bombed Iranian nuclear facilities – an action that has drawn the country into the ongoing crisis between Iran and Israel.

“It’s not politically correct to use the term, ‘Regime Change,’ but if the current Iranian Regime is unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn’t there be a Regime change MIGA!!!” he posted on his Truth Social platform.

His remarks also came after other top US officials stressed that toppling Iran’s leaders was not the aim of the US military action.

The US had carried out attacks in Iran after a week of hostilities between Israel and Iran.

The actions echoed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s sentiments of wiping out Iran’s nuclear research programme.

US allies, including the United Kingdom (UK), said the strikes eliminated the threat of nuclear attacks.

But Iran has repeatedly denied plans of building a nuclear arsenal.

Trump said the strikes caused “monumental damage”, but Iran downplayed the intensity.

Iran vowed that the US strikes would have “everlasting consequences”.

On Monday, Iran launched retaliatory missile strikes at a US air base in Qatar.

Trump has repeatedly asked Iran to surrender.
https://www.thecable.ng/trump-hints-at-regime-change-in-iran-after-us-strikes-nuclear-facilities/
"MIGA"... cheesy grin Trump is "mad sick" with words tbh.

In any event, this is the same error they made with NOT removing Saddam Hussein during Operation Desert Shield and Storm and Operation Desert Storm back in 1990. George Bush Senior expressed regrets at NOT doing so at that time. Saddam Hussein ONLY ended up digging in and became more defiant. It's literally the same thing that will happen in the case of the Iranian Shiite mullah leadership if they are left alone WITHOUT a regime change
which would lead to more repression of innocent opposition figures in Iran.

All that needs to be factored in to ensure longer-term stability after removing them from their dictatorial rules is to take a cue from why problems were encountered after regime changes in Iraq ?in the early 2000s), Libya, etc.
PhonesRe: Lebara Nigeria Rolls Out 0724 Phone Number by Konquest: 9:08pm On Jun 24, 2025
Putindbutt:
Lebara Nigeria has unveiled its dedicated 0724 number series, marking a significant milestone in its strategic entry into the Nigerian market, it said on Tuesday.

The company confirmed that it has also secured full interconnectivity with major mobile network operators across the country, paving the way for a seamless customer experience upon launch.

The Chief Operating Officer of Lebara Nigeria, Akin Adesokan, said the development reflects the company’s commitment to delivering accessible, high-quality services to Nigerian subscribers.

“Our readiness with the 0724 series and full interconnect setup underscores our unwavering commitment to seamless integration, customer freedom, and market inclusivity,” he said in a statement.

Lebara Nigeria holds a Tier 5 Mobile Virtual Network Operator licence, the highest category under Nigeria’s telecom regulatory framework.

The company stated that it is entering the market with the necessary infrastructure, regulatory compliance, and operational capacity to offer innovative and digitally driven telecom services nationwide.

“This milestone reflects Lebara’s broader vision of enhancing user experience and deepening digital access in the telecommunications space, leveraging its global brand network effect,” the statement added.

What truly differentiates Lebara’s offering is its unconventional pricing model. Eschewing traditional prepaid airtime, it sells voice bundles and data packages that align with real usage, not ambiguous credit deductions. “You buy minutes, not airtime. If your call ends in 30 seconds, you still have 99 minutes and 30 seconds left. That’s the kind of clarity and control we are bringing to Nigerian telecoms,” explained Samuel Alabi, head of Corporate Communications.

This clarity responds to a long-standing frustration among Nigerians, where ₦100 airtime often disappears quickly and opaquely. Lebara’s minutes-based system offers predictability and transparency—a refreshing contrast in a market hungry for accountability.

Lebara’s entrance is more than a marketing exercise; it’s a strategic diversification of Nigeria’s mobile ecosystem.

With over 220 million active mobile lines, Nigeria is Africa’s biggest telecom consumer.

The NCC’s move to licence 41 MVNOs, including Lebara, illustrates a policy shift aimed at introducing more competition and improving service quality. Technically agile and digitally native, Lebara leverages existing network infrastructure, augmented by automated systems—a lean operation compared to the capital-intensive MNO model.

he status quo. With strategic execution and continued regulatory support, this could mark the beginning of a new chapter: one where Nigerians no longer need to ask, “Can you hear me now?” but instead say, “Yes—and I know exactly what it cost.”
https://punchng.com/lebara-nigeria-rolls-out-0724-phone-number/?amp
It's a business model that'll unleash a flurry of activities in the mobile ecosystem with the older mobile networks scrambling for Plans B and C to avoid losing their customer market base.

This is totally unacceptable and a violation of town planning laws.

It's time for Lagos State to rev up the construction of a much modern slaughter house or abattoir with meat machine cutters and do away with this private method of killing cattle. The Agege abattoir has to be upgraded as well. The reviews I've read online by people who have visited Agege abattoir and other abatoirs in Nigeria CLEARLY say that if you personally visit those places, you will NOT eat cow meat again due to the poor sanitary conditions of those locations.

1994 was a tense year...fuel scarcity. NADECO vs government, and a major threat of a strike that led to the government harshly clamping down on NLC and the oil workers union.

And the economy was bad as usual, and the naira was falling, and salaries were bad (My dad's salary as a lecturer was wack. My mother's salary as a lecturer was so bad that when she told a market trader how much she was paid, the man was speechless for several minutes. He thought ASUU was going on strike for nothing)
So that's where your penchant for critical analyses came from. That's impressive.

Perhaps your father was the one you posted about last week who brought mangos to give some of his students back in the 1980s due to the bad state of the economy. I had very brilliant buddies (from the very early 1980s whose parents were Uni academics from many countries such a as Ghana, Jamaica, United States, UK, India, Bangladesh, etc,
who came as expats to work in Nigeria during the oil boom era BUT left Nigeria for greener pastures from the tough IBB military dictatorship years of the Structural Adjustment Program or SAP).

The global population was lesser than it is now and technology was taking a giant leap as of 1994. I started using the Internet in 1995 through dial up connections with Netscape then faster forms of Internet connectivity came up and Microsoft Internet Explorer gradually replaced Netscape in popularity.

That's the cyclical nature of life for you.

PoliticsRe: Wike Aide's Lere Olayinka Reacts To El-rufai’s Claims On Arise TV by Konquest:
zero8zero:
A political firestorm has ignited following an interview by former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Arise Television, excerpts of which were shared by Leadership Newspaper. In the interview, El-Rufai controversially claimed,

“I brought Evil Tinubu to power, I should remove him now,” which is said to be signaling a dramatic fallout with President Bola Tinubu. The statement, reported just few hours before Lere Olayinka, an aide to Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, took to X to respond.

Olayinka, known for his sharp political commentary, dismissed El-Rufai’s assertion, stating, “Èsù kékeré òde is still dreaming
Someone who said he paid terrorists as governor. Mtcheeeeew.”

His remarks allude to El-Rufai’s past admission on live television of paying herders and terrorists during his 2015-2023 tenure, a policy criticized for potentially fueling regional instability.

The aide’s retort is said to suggest a deep-seated skepticism about El-Rufai’s credibility, aligning with Minister Wike’s long-standing narrative.

Lere Olayinka is historically right. From the ABOVE quote, it's indeed VERY CLEAR that Nasir El-Rufai is a truly psychotic man with his vile use of adjectives.

This is the same person the good people of Southern Kaduna had to put up with when he was the Governor of Kaduna State for 2-terms and he encouraged by his actions and inactions his foreign Fula kinsmen to kill Southern Kaduna folks at will. Through the network of Miyetti Allah [whose membership unknown to a lot of Nigerians is made up of over 95% foreign Fulanis from Niger Republic, Mali, Guinea, Cameroon, etc], Nasir gave out millions of Nigeria's funds as compensations to the foreign Cameroonian Fulani herdsmen cum bandits (because it was the same herders who came back armed into Nigeria as militia bandits) who killed hundreds of indigenous people in Southern Kaduna instead of getting the INTERPOL to arrest them and charge them to court for mass murders.

Indeed, I have ATTACHED right BELOW the interview he granted to Channels Television in February 2017 where he bluntly said he paid compensations to those foreign Fulanis and he received a firestorm of criticisms from the media, Nigerians and folks such as 'Femi Fani-Kayode [who himself is paternally Yoruba from Ile Ife BUT is of one-eight Fulani descent] who wrote articles criticizing Nasir for paying that money and shielding his foreign Fulani kinsmen from prosecution.

Watch the FIRST video from the timestamp 8:00 minutes to see what Nasir El-Rufai said in February 2017 about the money paid by his government to foreign Fulani herdsmen to stop the revenge killings in Southern Kaduna (for an alleged 2011 killing of foreign fulanis). That payment was highly IRRESPONSIBLE of Nasir (when the so-called foreign Fulani killers were well-known through the LARGELY foreign Fulani dominated Miyetti Allah) and they should have been arrested, brought back right into Nigeria with the help of the INTERPOL, and summarily prosecuted for long-term peace to reign.

Anybody still dining and wining with this unstable man called Nasir El-Rufai, who is from the minority Fulani political hegemony that have held Hausaland down for decades through subterfuge (but is ORIGINALLY of Guinea Conakry foreign Fulani origin, just like the Baba-Ahmed brothers are of Mauritania foreign Fulani origin] MUST beware and back off otherwise you'll get into his unstable psychotic vortex. He's ALSO a clear danger to Nigeria and the Intelligence Agencies must bring Nasir and Fula kinsmen of his to justice for being a major accomplice in the mass murder of indigenous Nigerians in Southern Kaduna. Period.

Succinctly stated.

The egotistic guy you responded to is just a big hypocrite from Mbaise where he says he's from.

Over 95% of ALL the votes in the Ibo-speaking States of the South East went to ONLY Peter Obi while Yorubaland and the various Northern States were even more liberal and less tribalistic in voting across the various parties with especially segments of Yoruba Xtians in Lagos State forming the bulwark of voters that made Peter win Lagos State by just 3,000 votes ahead of the current Nigerian President 'Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Osun State too gave more votes to Atiku Abubakar over President Tinubu who lost narrowly again but still had his one-third of votes cast from Lagos and Osun States regardless. So, some of the Ibos just pretend out of ego, they have vested interests in Nigerian politics.
Even during the President Goodluck years, we saw how vociferous they were in supporting PDP in TAN and other campaign groups and the use of online propaganda simply because some of their kinsmen played prominent roles in GEJ's government.

His Ibo kinsmen are living all over Nigeria and benefiting from living in Nigeria despite the inneficiences which other ethnicities are experiencing too. A survey that was done sometime back by Cheta Nwanze's SBM Intelligence (Cheta is the Lead Partner at SBM Intelligence indicates that the Ibos insist that even if they are granted independence from Nigeria to get their own country, they would still prefer to stay on in the various states they are currently domiciled. She fell right into a manhole while her BF was at work. She definitely wasn't familiar with her environment since she was a visitor in that location in Accra and was either distracted by a phone call she was making or something and this can happen to people in the daytime, evening or dead in the night.

In the absence of any foul play which I doubt, the unfortunate scenario is what likely happened to her based on past trends of those who walked right into oncoming trains or fell right into manholes and open drainage systems.
FamilyRe: What If Chief Iwuanyanwu Died Without A Will... by Konquest: 2:12pm On Jun 24, 2025
LawWithEbele:
Imagine if Chief Iwuanyanwu died without a will...

The whole country is talking about the conditions in Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu’s will. But imagine this:

What if he never made a will at all?

Let’s face it, many Nigerians fear writing a will. Some believe it’s a bad omen.

Others keep postponing it for “when the time is right.” But death doesn’t send a memo.

That’s why many people die intestate, without a will. And when that happens, you no longer have a say.The law, and sometimes family chaos, takes over.

So, what would have happened if Chief Iwuanyanwu died intestate?

It depends on the kind of marriage he had:

If he contracted a customary marriage, then his estate would be distributed according to custom, and we all know customs can vary and cause serious family drama.

If he contracted a statutory marriage then the Administration of Estates of the deceased Law of the state applies.

And here’s what that law says in most states:

The wife gets 1/3 of the estate
The children share 2/3
No room for personal wishes
No gifts to charity, friends, staff, or causes you loved. No specific property direction, like “give this house to my daughter” or “support this foundation”

But with a will? You become the boss, even in death. You decide who gets what. You protect vulnerable loved ones.
You avoid family conflict. You leave a legacy, not confusion.

But here’s a legal twist most people don’t know: do you really have unlimited freedom to give your property to anyone you like in your will? Can you completely disinherit a spouse or child or a dependent?

Watch out for my next post, I’ll be unpacking the legal limits to testamentary freedom in Nigeria. You don’t want to miss it.

So let me ask: is it worth it for a married person to make a will?Drop your answer in the comments. Let's talk.

I’m Ebelechukwu Aroh-Nwoka, your family and property lawyer.I help Nigerians plan wisely, avoid inheritance drama, and protect what truly matters- your family and property.

PropertiesRe: Lagos Real Estate Is Booming Along Infrastructure Corridors — Here’s Where To In by Konquest: 1:40pm On Jun 24, 2025
Royaltieshomes:
Major infrastructure projects are transforming Lagos and if you’re a serious investor, now’s the time to take position before prices skyrocket. 🚧🏗️

Here are 3 major projects driving new real estate hotspots in Lagos:

🔵 1. Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway (700km Megaroad)
This highway runs through Ibeju-Lekki, Epe, and Badagry, linking Lagos directly to 8 other coastal states.
✅ Epe and Ibeju-Lekki are seeing over 150% land value growth
✅ Badagry is rebounding as a logistics and tourism hub
💡 Tip: Invest in residential and commercial plots near the highway corridor.

🔴 2. Lagos Rail Mass Transit: Blue, Red & Upcoming Green Lines
🚈 Blue Line (Marina to Okokomaiko) is operational
🔴 Red Line (Agbado to Oyingbo) is launching soon
🟢 Green Line will run from Lekki to Marina (coming soon!)

These lines are boosting demand in:
✅ Okokomaiko, Mile 2, Yaba, Festac, and Lekki-Ajah axis
💡 Tip: Properties near rail terminals appreciate fast. Buy early in areas like Ajah, Sangotedo, and Abijo.

🌉 3. The 4th Mainland Bridge (37km Bridge + Road Network)
This project will link Ikorodu to Lekki, cutting travel time by up to 60%.
✅ Opens up hidden gems like Baiyeku, Ijede, and Langbasa
✅ Ikorodu is becoming a hotbed for mid-income estates and commuter housing
💡 Tip: This is ideal for long-term land banking. Entry prices are still low.

Bottom Line:
Infrastructure is the new gold in Lagos real estate. If you missed Lekki Phase 1, don’t miss Epe, Ikorodu, Badagry, or Sangotedo.

💬 Have you invested in any of these areas?

Bump.

That's insightful. The real estate market in Lagos will continue to boom due to an increasing population and requires a property mix with the use of space-saving constructions. Ogun State can relieve the remaining big blows from the pressures on Lagos State down the road.

This type of post can never make it to the FP bro, they know it
If you had copied or mentioned the Supermods using the @ sign at the end of your ORIGINAL thread post containing the historically insightful and informative video interview and it's found to be newsworthy @Myndd44, @Dominique, and @Nlfpmod or even @Seun will move it to the Nairaland frontpage. If they aren't aware of your thread, there's absolutely NO way it's gonna hit the NL frontpage.

That's what a lot of those whose thread posts repeatedly get moved to the NL frontpage do for years now and you can do that too right away. This video should go viral to trigger the conscience of everyone inside and outside of the established governments.

Is Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Buruji Kashamu and many more part of this new and emerging "Ndi Yoruba". Crime is Crime, Criminals are Criminals. Stop staying in your corner to paint pictures of faraway cultures and people.
What has President 'Bola Ahmed Tinubu's name got to do with this your thread post? That's a defamatory thing for you to FALSELY link him to hard drugs, which the United States Government has CLEARLY stated since 1993 that the now President 'Bola Tinubu NEVER had any links to or had any convictions for drugs trafficking. 'Bola Ahmed Tinubu is essentially a technocrat, chartered accountant and auditor who worked with Mobil Nigeria (now ExxonMobil) and he rose to the senior rank of a treasurer with the same multinational oil and gas company. Buruji Kashamu too said it was his twin brother that had the drug issues but he was mistaken by the U.S. authorities in place of his late brother. Why he refused to go to the United States to CLEAR his name is another thing entirely. Perhaps he felt he would NOT get justice but that wasn't good enough.

As far back as 1993, the United States Government had issued official information emphasizing that the now President 'Bola Tinubu was NEVER a drug baron and again in 2003, Michael Bonner, the Legal Attache of the United States Consulate in Lagos released an official document to the Nigerian Police investigators emphasizing that the then Governor 'Bola Ahmed Tinubu has NEVER had any criminal convictions or arrests in the United States of America based on the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) National Crime Information Center (NCIC) central database which contains the names of ALL the arrested people and convicts the history of the United States. So, Tinubu was NEVER a drug baron like these IRRESPONSIBLE paid ipob troll farms (that the "BBC Global Disinformation Team" investigative video of 2022 EXPOSED for spreading disinformation online to cause a war in Nigeria and trigger ethnic tensions) like to push around to defame Tinubu by recirculating false history and fake news.

I was discussing with the revered poster Konq.uest just last week that this will start to happen and guess what, it has.

I said there will suddenly be an influx of Ndi Yoruba carrying drugs to India and being caught after the "Ifẹ Olúwa" lady was caught.

These "Ndi Yoruba" wouldn't have any tribal marks of any sort.
@aswani

I appreciate the mention.

Did you know that the moment I saw this new thread on the NL frontpage, I cringed and instantly remembered what you said to me last week within split seconds?... The so-called "Ndi Yoruba" recruits. Your intuition is red-hot! Lol

I posted my views earlier on this same thread today and you may wish to read it later.

This has to be tamed faster than the "speed of light" so that these criminals and their minions don't tarnish the image of legit Nigerian international business people or international travelers going to India for medical tourism from Nigeria. The Indians can really get sensitive to situations such as this and take rash decisions to protect their country.

Earlier this year, a Nigerian of Anambra origin recruited his twenty-something year old Namibian girlfriend into drug trafficking from Brazil (which is their dominant destination on the drug trafficking route including Ethiopia) in order to minimize suspicions. The girl flew to Brazil with him on a supposed holiday, and on flying back into South Africa with the hard drugs on her, she was caught in arrested at the Oliver Thambo International Airport. The story stunned Namibians to know that a young Namibian lady could get herself enmeshed in hard drugs.

So, there could indeed by a covert drive to recruit non-Ibos by these traffickers on that India flight route to minimize suspicions since the usual suspects have been well-profiled by the intelligence agencies in various countries such a Thailand, India, Brazil, Seychelles and more.

Stiffer capital punishments such as those in Singapore, China, etc, must be introduced ASAP in Nigeria to tame this menace because hard drugs intake has caused a major spike in urban crime and it's a source of terrorists funding.

This is exactly what Iran vowed to do and they just did it by firing missiles towards Qatar and Iraq. The Iranians came off predictable here. NOW the involvement of the United States is gonna be wider than ever in this war.

Israel’s advanced defense systems can’t guarantee 100% interception. Iran’s mobile launchers, large barrages, and timing tactics overwhelm even the most sophisticated shields.

Just right before our very eyes, the famous "Iron Dome" and "David Sling" Air Defense Systems failed to STOP the ravaging inflows of the new generation zigzagging Sejjil missiles and more.

It's a new turning point in world history. This planet will NEVER be the same again with these intelligent military technologies.

We still have potential Chinese and North Korean military recalcitrance to deal with because they too have advanced missiles similar to the Sejjil and infact, the Iranian scientists copied and built the Sejjil missiles based off of Chinese and North Korean technological models.

Guy stop the lies or update yourself. Iron dome is totally down, they overwhelmed it with their older stock and now they are use faster newer models. No need to even talk about hypersonic missiles, iron dome no they see that one. By the way iron dome is for rockets, Arrow 3, THAAD and David sling that are for missiles. Israel is just a sitting DUCK at the moment
Very well said. Some of these posters don't even know what's going on BUT are blinded by primordial confirmation biases.

I have ALSO CLEARLY stated on this discussion forum that the Iron Dome and David Sling Air Defense Systems have been demystified by the use of Iran's new generation zigzagging Sejjil missiles and more.
I'm still a bit stunned but NOT totally surprised by the unfolding events in the Iran-Israel War because we underestimated Iran's TRUE military capabilities and firepower and Iran has been pouring billions of USD into military research and development over the last 30 years.

Last kicks of a dying horse.

One should give Israel their flowers jare.

After going head-on with sovereign terrorist groups they still returned to take on the bumbling Iran that had months to prepare for an attack.

Imagine the comparative size of Israel to Iran and you'll understand why one should fear these Jews.

(Tiny Israel in pink, giant Iran in green)

Shame!
In reality, with Israel's small landmass, if this war continues at this rate or even faster with the indiscriminate bombing of Israeli cities with new generation zigzagging Sejjil missiles and more from Iran which have repeatedly pierced through the "Iron Dome" and "David Sling" Air Defense Systems of Israel, vast areas of Israel's cities will be flattened in NO time of a space of 1 month. That's the cold reality here. I hope this can end quickly for the innocent folks on all sides.

Just imagine the audacity... Bombing a sovereign country prison and trying to justify it. You are trying to release the prisoners to cause chaos in a democratic country.

You failed from getting the Iranians to protest against the regime and you move to bombing the prison and a university.

I hope people are now seeing the real terrorist.
The Iran as being currently ruled by the Shiite mullahs has NEVER been a democratic country since 1979. This is the reason why you have a lot of male and female political prisoners in jail with many being innocent people.

Many Iranians actually want a FREE Iran. Israel and Iran had a very cordial relationship with one another back in the days of the Kings or Shahs of Persia (Iran) with many Jews living in Tehran, Shiraz and contiguous cities in Iran until 1979 when these Shiite mullahs came in to rule. Remember that.

An Israeli airstrike hit Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison a short while ago, according to reports from Iran.

The opposition Iran International says the strike hit the entrance gate to the prison, apparently to allow prisoners
to escape.

Evin Prison is a large and heavily fortified complex where Iran has incarcerated political prisoners, journalists, academics, human rights activists, and others
Source;
https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/israeli-airstrike-hits-entrance-to-tehrans-evin-prison-reports-say/
That could end up being a dangerous move to take by the political prisoners. Escaping from that heavily fortified prison and then getting caught again would lead to them being shot dead execution style for trying to escape.

I wish them all the BEST though.
