Indeed, it's a well-known FACT from past research now in the public domain that the Sahara desert was very fertile with human movements between the regions of Africa, especially West Africa and North Africa. There was water and settlements along the way until climate change dealt a fatal blow to that vast swathe of land in Africa rendering it hot and WITHOUT regular rainfall for centuries.

However, there have been plans to redirect water from some vast rivers in the CAR to feed the Lake Chad for instance and that save the drying Lake Chad. That can be also be done for other known areas facing dried up lakes as well.

Hausas, trading dey their blood and peace as they are after economic impact growth.
The Dantatas are historically of Agalawa ancestral descent (Agalawas are Tuaregs who engaged in long-distance trading). They are NOT originally of Hausa lineage but since Kano and other parts of Hausaland such as Katsina were major trading centers a few centuries back, these Tuaregs of Northern Niger Republic and Mali usually engaged in trading with Hausaland due to the trans-Saharan trade and trading in slaves to North Africa and Asia.

However, overtime some of the Agalawa lineages have mixed with a few other immigrant ethnicities in Kano and elsewhere.

The Yar'Adua family are ALSO of Tuareg ancestry. The U.S.-based Uni academic, Farook Kperogi (who hails from the Batonus or Bariba people of Kwara State and Benin Republic) wrote an article a few years back about the ethnic origins of Nigeria's former Presidents and he also affirmed that the Yar'Adua family line are Tuaregs and NOT Fulanis or Hausas like some non-Northern Nigeria people believe. That article by Farook was reposted here on NL a few years back.

Hope that helps.

Stalin gave his troops the right to rape, to steal, to kill, to do whatever they want to do. And believe me, they did.”

Usually, when we discuss the Holocaust, it’s easy to distinguish between the perpetrators and victims. However, some instances of wartime violence blur these lines, and identifying the perpetrator/victim becomes unclear. Lisa Slater, for example, was a Protestant Christian German woman who served as a teletypist for the German army during World War II. She claims to have been unaware of the persecution of Jews (and the Nazi’s other victims). In her USC Shoah Foundation testimony, Lisa recalls the Soviet soldiers’ violent victimization of her and other German women.

Morgan Housel: What You Need to Master (And Avoid) to Get Rich, Stay Rich, and Build Wealth

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEx_IGVfi7Y?si=JJ5cr_q2dm0dTOpP
The Knowledge Project Podcast • May 28 2024

The skills it takes to get rich are drastically different from the skills it takes to stay rich. Few understand this phenomenon more than Morgan Housel.

In this conversation, Shane and Housel discuss various aspects of risk-taking, wealth accumulation, and financial independence. Morgan explains the importance of understanding personal financial goals and the dangers of social comparison, lets everyone in on his personal financial “mistake” that instantly made him sleep better at night, and why the poorest people in the world disproportionately play the lottery—and why it makes sense that they do.
They also touch on the influence of upbringing on financial behaviors, the difference between being rich and wealthy, and the critical role of compounding in financial success. Of course, we can’t have a writer as good as Morgan Housel on the podcast and not ask him about his process, so Housel concludes with insights into storytelling, his writing processes, and the importance of leading by example in teaching financial values to children.

CrimeRe: Edikan Adiakpan Arrested For Multimillion-Dollar Scam In The US by Konquest: 12:57am On Jun 28, 2025
ogododo:
A Nigerian-born entrepreneur in Houston, Edikan Adiakpan, once celebrated for running a high-end concierge service for celebrities, has been arrested over his alleged role in a multimillion-dollar fraud scheme in the United States.

Adiakpan, 33, is the co-founder of Akama Lifestyle, a luxury transportation and concierge company that caters to athletes, entertainers and wealthy clients with exotic cars, yachts and even private jets.

In a 2021 interview with ABC13 Houston, Edikan and his brother Edifon were profiled as Nigerian immigrants who had turned their passion for cars into a booming business.

Edikan Adiakpan is the founder of Akama Lifestyle, a company that provides exotic and luxury travel experience. Photo: X(@AkamaLifestyle)
At the time, Edikan described the company as a “virtuous lifestyle” brand, offering Rolls-Royces, Bentleys, Ferraris and personal lifestyle management for high-net-worth individuals.

Edikan said, “Akama means ‘big’ in African, and it also comes from an old Indian language meaning ‘virtuous’, so it kind of sums it up.

“We are a concierge service specialising in exotic car rentals, exotic car sales, and chauffeur and limo services.”

But now, federal authorities say he played a central role in a business email compromise and money laundering scheme that defrauded companies across eight US states, including a California research firm focused on treatments for US veterans.

Adiakpan was arrested and is expected to appear before a US magistrate judge in Houston.

A federal grand jury indicted him on June 11, 2025, on three counts: conspiracy to commit wire fraud, money laundering conspiracy and illegal money transmission.

Prosecutors allege that Edikan and others sent spoofed emails to victims, redirecting payments to bank accounts they controlled.

The funds were then laundered through various accounts and converted into cashier’s checks, which Edikan allegedly cashed while keeping a percentage as a fee.

If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in federal prison on the wire fraud and money laundering charges and up to five years for illegal money transmission.

Each charge also carries a maximum $250,000 fine.

He has not yet been convicted, and under US law, all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Another Nigerian, Ayobami Omoniyi, 26, was earlier charged in the same case and is awaiting sentencing.

Before the indictment, Adiakpan had been profiled by multiple outlets as a rising star in Houston’s luxury service industry.

In a 2021 feature in L’Officiel Cyprus, he spoke of his passion for philanthropy and working with homeless outreach organisations.

“I believe that the more successful we are, the more we should focus on giving back.

“When we give back, we are creating a better world for others, for businesses, in a sense for everyone,” he was quoted as saying.

He told ABC13 Houston in 2021 how his parents decided to move to the US in hopes of providing the family a “better life”.

“Everybody wants to have a better life when they come out here to the States, so that’s one of the reasons why we came out here. Just to explore and live the American dream,” Edikan said.

The FBI and IRS Criminal Investigation division are leading the probe into the case.

Lol. Why do you keep typing and spouting propaganda all over the forum?
How can every NATO leader have Nazi parents?
lol

lol. From Canada to Portugal, all of them just happens to be the grandchild of a Nazi? what's your source?
Macron’s grandfather was a teacher/ professor. How's that for Nazi?
Trudeau who's the former pm of Canada. His grandfather opposed fascism.
Did you bother to even think about the nonsense you wrote there?

How does being related to a Nazi = You are a Nazi?
By that logic:
If your grandfather was a thief, does that make you a criminal?
People aren’t always responsible for their relatives’ actions
.

By the way, Soviet Russia also worked With the Nazis , Stalin signed a pact with Hitler in 1939 (Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact) where they jointly invaded Poland and carved up Eastern Europe together, check it up. So, if we’re playing the “guilt by association” game, doesn’t that mean Russia was also Nazi-friendly at one point?
Now, if hating Russia means you’re a Nazi, does liking Russia mean you’re okay with Stalin-Hitler teamwork?

Russia Defeated the Nazis, yes, but not alone.
The Red Army sure played a huge role in defeating Nazi Germany, but so did Britain, America, Canada, and others. How can you pretend it was only Russia? what happened to the allies?

If NATO leaders really hate Russia because of dead Nazi relatives, why then did the West and USSR work together during the war? Shouldn’t Churchill have loved Hitler by that logic?

Maybe we dislike Russia Putin because of the Invasion thing or perhaps leaders criticise Russia because of the annexation of Crimea? The poisoning of opponents? People calling from building? Haha.

You don’t like North Korea? Must be because your grandad fought in the Korean War!
You criticise China? Clearly your ancestor was an opium dealer! Does that make any sense?Pls grab a book and quit embarrassing yourself. lol
Absolutely brilliant summations.

These are indeed sequential historical facts.
During the World War 2, the Soviet Union had occupied East Berlin in 1945 while the European and American Allies occupied West Berlin. One of the major downsides of the highly IRRESPONSIBLE Soviet Red Army taking over East Berlin is that a lot of women were mass raped by those Vodka-drinking Soviet Red Army troops on their own side of Berlin (East Berlin ).
On a good day, those who committed these war crimes ought to have been court-martialed BUT Stalin had given those soldier and creeps of his the orders to do as they pleased. The Japanese soldiers too carried out mass rapes famously called the "rape of Nanking" during the invasion of Nanking Province in China.

Abortion is a sin. Keep the child.

Is there a place for the husband? The Bible says love endures all things. Love is the key.
@grandstar

Greetings.

Husband ke? The stigma and humiliation from the horrendous gang rape will NOT let any man or husband allow the gestation to proceed beyond 3 months if he still loves his wife. NOT palatable to imagine.

I understand where you are coming from though, BUT I have further contrarian perspectives to this...

Did you know that "miscarriages" CLEARLY lead to the natural "termination of fetuses?" That's "natural abortion" for you. This partly occurs if the human body detects that there is danger ahead or the fetus is malformed. So, the body expels the fetus.

A second medical reality that I've known since the 1980s, and I want you to know (which a vast number of people are NOT even aware of) is that a significant number of us who came out as "singletons" during child birth were actually TWINS or would have been born as twins, but one fetus absorbed the other during the early gestation period.

As far as I'm concerned, "legal abortion" is NOT a "sin" or criminal. It's only the fetus that has been terminated. It doesn't yet have a Soul inhabiting it OR a life of its own because it's just like a growing tumor in the female uterus.

The heavy "mental drainage" and social dislocation that comes in a WORSE-CASE scenario with keeping the child of an unknown vagabond like the armed robber/rapist will be too heavy for any decent woman to bear and hence the child when he or she grows up... Especially for men who like to ask and know who our REAL fathers are when growing up in a single-parent household. Knowing the family their real biological fathers descend from is one of the parameters that's defines the self-worth of a lot of men tbh.

Cheers.

1.feed is just too expensive
2.end users are not patronising any longer it's too expensive for them
3.electricity bills wan kill me
4.fish expected to sell off in space of 4months will eventually be sold off 6months at a very reduced rate or you sell on credit so that fish feed will not kill you.

It used to be a very good business mostly it's serve as a back up finances for me.

ProudlyLagos:
Well I’m also a livestock farmer basically into poultry, fish and pig and every aspect of it has it own challenges but one thing I can assure is that, if they are properly managed and given the needed attention then you would make your money

Let me focus on fish since that’s what the op is interested in…first you need a constant and reliable source of water, get a sample and take to the lab to have it tested and make sure it doesn’t have a high volume of iron in it.

Then you choose the type of pond you intend using, we have the earthing pond, and the artificial pond such as tapolin, storage tanks or the like depending on the one you chose to use and also make sure the place is well secured from predators and theft.

You will also need lot of funds cause fish farming is very expensive and their feed is still the most expensive amongst all categories of livestock farming.

You also need to be sure of what you want to achieve from the fish farm, and set a target, for table size which take an average of 5/6 month if well fed or melunch size which weights from 500gram and above and takes about 3/4 and you can sell them off, note this sizes are usually the sizes they dry and sell
in the market.

And like someone advised, try and get a oven/dryer, if will help you process the mortality because trust me, you should set your mind for that which will happen from time to time but it must not be frequent or else there is a problem with your water and you have to also change the water in the pond atleast every 2 days.

And lastly consult a professional before you start so they can guide you all through the process. I’m into processing of catfish and sell them dry which is another option, this saves you cost of feeding them till table size and also more profitable if you export them….anyways all the best grin
Impressive takes.

I won't say it is very lucrative or not. There are things you need to know.

FIRST THING!
Go and learn everything that has to do with the business. From seedling sourcing, feed types and sizes, treatments and ofcourse market disposal.

You must know how many bags of feed needed for 1000 fish, when to introduce bigger feed sizes and ofcourse what to do when fish aren't eating.

Equally very important is the quality of fish you are stocking. If you can, try stocking first grade seedlings as much as possible. Some wicked hatcheries will sell you runts or third grade seedlings. Anything beyond grade one or two will bring you looses. Only patronise proven hatcheries.

Catfish business is an on-ground-in-person business. You have to be actively involved with the business. See and know everything by yourself. You can't trust anyone to handle things for you except what you delegate.

Generally, by 5 months your fish should be averaging 1kg each. Then you are ready to sell. Do everything you can not to sell on credit. Go to the biggest fish market in your area and ask for the most reputable buyer they have. Tell them you have fish available and you are not selling on credit. It is pack and pay.

Of course you should know how much a kilo of fish is before you go to the market. So that you don't get short changed.

If you need to know anything else about the business, send me a message. I have stocked 10,000 fingerlings severally. I have learnt a thing or two
Interesting insights.

It very lucrative..but you need to approach it in two ways,..you can sell the live ones on bulk, and secondly try and get a smoking oven,so that in case or still, you can b producing smoked fish too, if d fish die for pound you can easily smoke it and recoup your money.
Smoking in an oven is a good way to add value to the fish for localized consumption and export.

There are 3 farming businesses I can never dabble into

Fish farming
Rearing 6 weeks broilers for sale during festive period.

For fish farming, a very great problem is that u must have time n b highly observant n u must like stress because.

U must check d fishes at least 3 times in a day, note that I didn't tell u to entrust farm workers with it cos them go steal from u tire n most times the farm workers are not highly observant.

As regards d highly observant part, u must know when they aren't taking d food n once u realize the water isn't bubbling again there's problem.

As regards d issue of stress, u must b ready to sort them cos cannibalism is very real in fish farming n d bigger ones will always eat d smaller ones, if u don't sort in time your 1000 stock can reduce to 300 before harvesting.

And another one is d issue of feed, it skyrocket everyday.......when I was working as a farm supervisor, I just Dey pity people anyhow cos there will always b complains n losses everyday for jjc farmers but established farmers have mastered it well.

As regards rearing birds to sell at festive period, u will buy very expensive feeds, feed them for 6 weeks n u will b forced to raise the price to see your money.....if devil wan punish u make u no see everything sell during festive period, then the rest automatically becomes a loss because u have to keep feeding them n the price would have dropped.

E.g if u sell one for 25k during festive rush hour, after festive rush hour n u keep feeding u will beg to sell it for 15k cos u will b tired of feeding them n u will just want to sell it any amount.

As an experienced farm manager, the best farming is livestock farming

Either
Piggery
Cattle
Goat farming
Sheep n co

Just don't expect money in d next 3 years of starting, meaning u must have other sources of income but I tell u that after 5 years of consistency u will b a multimillionaire
Insightful.

As an experienced Farm Manager, what about grass cutters farming and snailery which I once read don't eat much?
PoliticsRe: FG, Dangote Strike Deal To Cut Down Fuel Prices by Konquest: 1:24am On Jun 27, 2025
Editorialtimes:
The Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA), the One-Stop-Shop Committee on the Sale of Crude in Naira, and the Dangote Refinery & Petrochemicals Free Zone Enterprises have jointly pledged their commitment to comply with the presidential directive on reducing the domestic prices of petroleum products The Bureau Newspaper reports.

This move aims to boost national energy security and accelerate economic growth by eliminating dollar-based crude sales in local transactions.

The resolution was reached during a courtesy visit by members of the committee to NEPZA’s Managing Director, Dr. Olufemi Ogunyemi, in Abuja, where all stakeholders agreed to align their operations toward executing the new energy policy directive.

Dangote Refinery Called a National Asset

Dr. Ogunyemi expressed confidence in the president’s vision and affirmed NEPZA’s willingness to collaborate closely with the committee to deliver on the reform agenda.

“Interestingly, the Authority supervised the construction of the highly celebrated Dangote Refinery from inception to commissioning, making it a success story for us,” Ogunyemi noted.

He further highlighted that the refinery, which operates under the Free Trade Zone Scheme, has so far received 480 vessels and commenced full operations, producing petrol, diesel, aviation jet fuel, and other petroleum products for both local and export markets.

“The sale of crude in naira will eliminate the local currency’s vulnerability to dollar fluctuations,” he added, reaffirming that NEPZA sees the refinery as a “shining star” in implementing the crude pricing reform.

Stakeholders Align on Vision

The committee’s coordinator, Ms. Maureen Ogbonna, described the initiative as a key intervention of the president to reposition the economy. “It is only a matter of time before we move fully away from billing domestic crude in dollars,” she said.

She also confirmed that the policy is already yielding results, crediting political will and stakeholder cooperation for its early traction.

Dangote Refinery Commits to National Growth

Representing Dangote Refinery, Mr. Akinsanya Mobolarin, the General Manager of Engineering/Strategic Services, reaffirmed Aliko Dangote’s commitment to national development.

“The policy, when fully implemented, will drive substantial growth in Nigeria’s energy and industrial sectors. The refinery is fully onboard to support this transition,” he emphasized.

PoliticsRe: Betty, Akeredolu’s Widow Visits Mausoleum, Calls Olowo Of Owo 'Baby Oba' by Konquest:
kettykin:
This woman is really a very strong woman for surviving these people. Not only did she take care of her husband and retain power in the state, she stood by the husband till the last minute.

These people are very lucky it is not an mbaise, ngwa ,ohafia , awka or obosi woman they are dealing with, those ones would have shown them who is indisputably in charge by putting her son as the next governor.
Your bragging post right ABOVE MAKES absolutely NO sense at all.

The main thrust of the article in the thread post is that In Yorubaland, Obas or Kings are NOT permuted to attend burial ceremonies or have memorials symbolizing death overlooking their royal palaces and this is why the memorial dedicated to those who lost their lives in that Owo church terror attack was removed because it violated culture by overlooking the Oba (Olowo of Owo Kingdom's) royal palace.

Betty Akeredolu most definitely has some psychological and "mental health" issues due to some undisclosed trauma which led her to make that insulting and unnecessary video that was posted online. It's just too obvious and some of you hers are IRRESPONSIBLY accusing the Yoruba folks of attacking her first which is totally FALSE. Betty Akeredolu was WRONG to have made statements in that video violating the centuries-long culture and traditions of Yoruba people of over 80 million people worldwide. Her children MUST move in ASAP to ensure that she is adequately cared for and the first son can on behalf of the family simply visit the palace with a few of his Akeredolu family uncle's and apologize to the revered Oba and the people of Owo Kingdom for that needless video Betty Akeredolu made and uploaded online .

You are indeed highly ignorant about who the continuum of indigenous people of Ondo, Ekiti, Osun, Oyo, Ogun, Lagos States, etc, are? These folks of Yoruba descent operate a mixed hybrid republican and monarchical system for centuries. They have a warrior mindset, are descendants of centuries-old warrior nations and don't take nonsense or deviant behavior be you high or low, young or old.

Despite the fact that there's respect for elders and organizational hierarchy, if you go off the trail of truth and they've had enough of you, they'll tell it to your face. Period.
Car TalkRe: Man Pays ₦45 Million For Car, Disappears For 2 Years — Car Dealer Left In Limbo by Konquest: 11:01pm On Jun 26, 2025
lagostrendboy:
A Nigerian car dealer has taken to social media to raise alarm over a bizarre case of sudden disappearance, after a client who paid ₦45 million for a vehicle in 2023 mysteriously vanished — and has remained unreachable for over two years. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The incident was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @maziechidiime, CEO of Echidiime Motors Limited, who said the client was discovered via TikTok — but has since gone off the grid, with even his TikTok account permanently deleted.
💸 “He Paid, Then Vanished”

In the viral post, the dealer explained:

“A client paid for a vehicle worth ₦45 million and ghosted us since 2023. We’ve tried calling, texting, and reaching out to his bank—but nothing. His TikTok account has been deleted too.”

Efforts to trace him through the bank account used for payment hit a brick wall, with the bank allegedly refusing to release helpful information. The only clue left? The man may be an orphan — and possibly unreachable.
💭 Did Something Happen to Him?

The mysterious case has sparked massive online speculation:

Did the buyer pass away?

Could he be in jail or trapped abroad?

Was this some form of money laundering or advance trust test gone wrong?

💬 Social Media Reactions Pour In

The story has drawn a wave of advice and hot takes online:

@Mr_DaveChigozie: “I hope he didn’t die. That would explain the silence.”

@MaxwellAni4: “Use the money for business but keep it in trust. Someday, he may resurface.”

@ChizobaCynthia_: “Post his picture online saying he’s a long-lost friend. Don’t mention the car or money.”

@Emirate_Wealth: “Fix the money in a savings account and wait. It’s too unusual to spend.”

🧠 What Should the Dealer Do?

This rare case raises legal and ethical questions:

Can the dealer use the money?

Should it be held in trust indefinitely?

What if the buyer comes back demanding a refund or a new car at current market value?

Some financial experts online have advised putting the funds in a fixed deposit account, allowing it to accrue interest while buying time.
🔍 Final Thoughts from Eyes of Lagos:

A man pays ₦45 million, ghosts, and deletes all contact? Whether this is a strange twist of fate or a hidden plot, one thing is clear: trust in digital business is now more complex than ever.

This story is a reminder that social media deals, no matter how promising, require real-world safeguards. And sometimes… even a confirmed payment isn’t the end of the story.

PoliticsRe: FIRS Chair: New Tax Laws Won’t Be Implemented Until January by Konquest: 10:47pm On Jun 26, 2025
Bobloco:
The Federal Government has disclosed that the implementation of the newly signed four tax fiscal reform laws will commence by January 1st, 2026.

Addressing State House correspondents shortly after the President signed the bills into law, Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Zach Adedeji, said the modalities will be put in place ahead of the implementation.

Adedeji further explained that the six-month period between the enactment of the new fiscal laws is designed to give ample time to those saddled with the implementation to carefully prepare and ensure that all Nigerians are adequately sensitised.

According to Adedeji, the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS by the signing of the bills into Law is now the Nigeria Revenue Service, explaining that the new law now defines the NRS’s expanded mandate, including non-tax revenue collection, and lays out transparency, accountability, and efficiency mechanisms.

“The Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Bill, the third bill, repeals the current Federal Inland Revenue Service Act and creates a more autonomous and performance-driven National Revenue Agency.

“Two hours ago before we were FIRS, now we are Nigeria Revenue Service with expanded scope to focus on tax collection and with match efficiency.”

Chairman Presidential Committee on Tax Reforms, Taiwo Oyedele, said President Bola Tinubu had directed proper implementation of the laws while ensuring collective participation of all stakeholders.

“The journey is just beginning; writing the law, no matter how beautiful, no matter how transformative, no matter how innovative, it means nothing if it is not properly implemented. So, we are mindful of that. We are not going to relax.

“Mr President has given us the charge that now is time to move to implementation, and we are ready. We are prepared. It is not something we can’t do alone, even from the government side. It’s something we have to be collective about.”

Oyedele added that the committee will now include the private sector, public sector, civil society, professional bodies as well as international partners.

“The private sector, public sector, civil society, professional bodies, etc? Tax consultants, everyone, including our international partners, who mean well will work for Nigeria.
