naptu2:Thanks for the extra updates on the incident Naptu2. He should have waited till after the President of Nigeria finished his speech and then request for a photograph through any influencial Kaduna person in the gathering as a link. His moves were untidy. I'm aware that there are people such as big time farmers in the Birnin Gwari area of Kaduna State who are very happy that security has been returned to the biggest agricultural belt in Kaduna State due to the efforts of the Federal Government and the Kaduna State in ending the clashes between the locals and the Fulani invaders or bandits. Many of the farmers told Babajide Kolade-Otitoju who visited Birnin Gwari in a military convoy that they had harvested thousands of bags of food and cash crops for the first time in 10 years and have become Naira billionaires. The video is online via the famous "Journalists Hangout" program on TVC. I had to download that video documentary entitled: "The Billionaire Grains Farmers of Birnin Gwari" from YouTube on my mobile devices because it was highly revealing. So, the guy who came rushing forward could indeed be one of the Kaduna indigenes who got touched with an increase in his disposable income by the efforts of the FG and state government in the area of security. More still needs to be done though. @Naptu2, I've found the TWO links to the video on the BILLIONAIRE farmers of Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State shot in January 2025 with Babajide Kolade-Otitoju interviewing the Kaduna State indigenes. It's attached right BELOW for you to see: Despite The Odds, Crop Farmers In Birnin Gwari Pocket Billions Of Naira https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ha1_OqP4KgA [TVC News Nigeria · 31 Jan 2025] WATCH: BKO Speaks With Billionaire Grains Farmer, Haruna Shuwaka In Birnin Gwari https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIwHl7fhb7o [TVC News Nigeria · 10 Feb 2025] |
aminauiade:President Tinubu was in the state to inaugurate a number of projects executed by Governor Uba Sani’s administration, including a newly completed 300-bed Specialist Hospital and the rollout of 100 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses. That caught my eyes... 100 CNG buses launched in Kaduna. That's impressive as it would literally crash the cost of transportation for Kaduna folks with CNG being the cheapest source of fuel way cheaper than PMS. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has been talking about launching new CNG buses in Lagos State for over 1 year now and nothing has been done yet. His government has to be clearly intentional by matching words with actions. |
naptu2:It's risky though. These guys charging forward to supposedly meet any President could be suicide bombers or assassins. The former Japanese PM Abe who got shot by a Japanese who was in the crowd as he have his political speech comes to mind. There was once a terror attack via a timed roadside bomb blast on Buhari's convoy before he became the President by BH elements which could have led to Buhari's death if his Jeep wasn't armored. |
ACHILLES45:Seriously, the rhetorics are getting hard and inflammatory. |
YourKarma:C'mon, don't transfer your needless aggression on me! You tried to sound intelligent BUT came off sounding otherwise with some of the random words you uttered. As a Diasporan who has used NL for 20 years now and is only concerned about the chain of events going on right in Nigeria, I gave my preliminary opinion here based off of what the Benue Governor said, and for your information the last time I ever voted in Nigeria was on June 12, 1993 so what do you mean by my "useless" government when you are the one dealing directly with daily events in Nigeria? Do you understand simple English language and read to understand at all? I CLEARLY used the words "ALLEGED" and "IF" in my post... Because I hadn't come to a final conclusion yet about that Benue Governor's statement because in criminal investigations, you have to look at all the variables which I simply did by analysing the Gocernor speech as someone who has a deep background as a security analyst and more. Just stay in your lane and kick rocks if you have NOTHING BETTER to say other than this insidious random post you made. I don't owe you or anyone an apology for my preliminary views stated here based off of the interview that Governor made on AIT. Period. |
Maxymilliano:A large aspect of Abimbola's article is stale. Just yesterday, I finally listened to a recorded interview from AIT of the Benue State Governor Alia and he clearly stated that the killings in the 3 Local Governments were politically motivated meaning that politicians were allegedly behind the killings in Benue State hence not the Fulani bandits we all were told did the killings. Governor Alia had definitely partly briefed Tinubu earlier about the political dimensions to the killings and that definitely made Tinubu to utter the highly vexatious "reconciliation" statement which the veteran pro-democracy movement activist of the military dictatorship years and veteran investigative journalist, 'Bayo Onanuga released as an official statement. A lot of folks like me felt that it was careless for anyone to suggest that Benue people should reconcile with foreign Fulani bandits. NOW I know why Tinubu made that statement. It's obvious that these killings were not caused by Fulani banditry BUT political rivalry WITHIN Benue State and that stunned me. If that is the case, then those behind it have to be fished out to face maximum justice. Indeed, some hired male Benue indigenes involved in criminal activities in the past have been arrested and killed by the security forces in gun exchanges so the horrendous crime in Yelwatta CANNOT be said to be a thing that any rogue Benue indigene cannot do. The constitutional amendments MUST be activated from 2025 to ensure that these annoying inneficiences within Nigeria are removed forever. Period. |
NGsultan: |
aribisala0:Succinctly stated. However there are Arabs who are NOT Muslims. |
dre11:The airline has to work on their inneficiences instead of engaging in buck passing or victim mentality. In the aviation industry, every airline management is required to de-escalate any situation with passengers by LISTENING to their complaints in order to secure repeat business. Period. |
Christistruth02:@Christistruth02 I appreciate your bumping of this thread again since 2024, quoting my post and attaching the video right ABOVE. Truth MUST be told and these youngsters who are later day historical revisionists and part of the paid ipob troll farms EXPOSED by the "BBC Global Disinformation Team" investigative video of May 25, 2002 MUST be put behind the curtain where they truly belong. How can anybody with roots from the tribe East of river Niger say in 2025 that the iconic General Yakubu Gowon never implemented the "Aburi Accord" in 1967 when even 3 Ibo men [such as Chukwuemeka Nwokedi who wrote right in his book, "Power Sharing in Nigerian Federation,"] have long confirmed with clear FACTS that Gowon did so through Decree 8 with MINOR adjustments? Further reading... Years later, I found out that Gowon IMPLEMENTED the Aburi Accord. In his book, Power Sharing in Nigerian Federation, Chukwuemeka Nwokedi wrote that, “Apart from MINOR adjustments to the Aburi Accord, in other to still retain the corporate nature of Nigeria”, Gowon implemented the Aburi Accord with Decree 8; “and the regions acquired MORE powers than they have ever had”. That was months before the continued wrangling between Ojukwu and Gowon led to the creation of states (on May 27, 1967). But did Ojukwu not declare Biafra and we marched out to war on the mantra, “On Aburi We Stand”. According to other writers, the MINOR adjustments Gowon made to the accord was the cancelation of TWO articles of the accord, which stated that any region can secede from Nigeria at will, and that the federal government can, on no account, impose a state of emergency on any region. Ojukwu’s advisers urged him to accept Decree 8 because Gowon had “gone more than far enough”. He refused. Frederick Forsyth on BBC https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dufe3hVRkfw |
@Seun, I got several "Unexpected Error" messages while trying to attach to my ORIGINAL post to you right ABOVE on this same thread page the official 2003 official document from Michael Bonner, the then Legal Attache of the United States Consulate in Lagos which exonerated the then Governor 'Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Lagos State from any convictions in the United States or from ever being a drug baron in the United States based off of the FBI's National Crime Information Center (NCIC) central database of all arrested and convicted people in modern United States history. He CLEARLY stated that 'Bola Ahmed Tinubu's name isn't in that FBI database hence has NEVER been a drug baron like these paid ipob troll farms like to post online to defame him. Please look into this issue as I think it's indeed a technical glitch on NL NOT from my end. Unexpected Error Nairaland Forum encountered an unexpected mistake in your request. Please hit the back button to go back and correct it. Thanks! |
Putindbutt:Scores of bandits and vigilantes were reportedly killed in a fierce clash during a combined operation of vigilantes and soldiers around Dutsen Zaki community in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State. 16 vigilantes, who reportedly sustained injuries in the clash are currently receiving treatment at Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Wase town and another hospital in Bauchi State. Dutsen Zaki is a thick forest surrounded by villages such as Zurak, Aduwa, Kinashe, and Odare in Bashar district of Wase LGA. The latest incident occurred two weeks after security operatives and vigilantes killed five bandits in Kadil Masudu village of Wase. Disclosing the latest development on Wednesday, Abdullahi Hussaini, a leader of the vigilantes in the area, told Daily Trust that the fight started on Saturday morning and continued until Wednesday. He said over 300 vigilantes took the fight to the bandits’ hideout. According to Hussaini, over 80 bandits including their wives were killed while four vigilantes also lost their live in the incident. Kudos to the joint efforts of the vigilance groups in Plateau and the Nigerian soldiers. These bandits even had the nerve to relocate their wives and families from their original countries of origin to come and disturb the indigenous people of Nigeria in those nearby forest locations. I'm in total support of building that border wall but using a cheaper and more durable technology like stabilized laterite bricks which is bullet and earthquake-proof to separate Nigerian porous locations from those West African Sahelian countries of Niger, Chad, Cameroon, Benin, and urgently get surveillance and weaponized drones, including the use of advanced satellite tracking systems to mow down these foreign minority Fula bandits. The same thing was done in Lagos, Ogun and Ondo States in 2016 when some recalcitrant Ijaw crude oil thieves, who ALSO engaged in massive kidnappings of people from highbrow estates, armed robberies of homes and banks in VI and Ikoyi and raped several women, had the audacity to camp right in the heavily thick creeks of Arepo in Ogun State. It was the deployment of aerial surveillance platforms and jet fighters that finally smoked out on the orders of President Muhammadu Buhari after a FIRST-CLASS Oba in Lagos State, the Oniba of Iba Kingdom was dragged out and kidnapped from his Palace with a speed boat right into the creeks of Arepo in Ogun State. Since then, they have NEVER returned to cause mayhem like they did throughout the Goodluck Jonathan Presidency simply because they assumed that GEJ is their kinsman. The videos of the bombings of the Ijaws who used amulets for protection but were killed in large numbers from the creeks of Arepo by the Nigerian Air Force are still online. |
Seun:@Seun, I have 3 important bulletpoints I want you to read for a BETTER user-experience on Nairaland right BELOW. 1] First off, you've done well so far as I was already considering ditching this discussion forum after 20 years of using it because of the heavy disinformation being posted by paid ipob trolls farms on this Website. The BBC Global Disinformation Team investigative video of May 25 2022 had EXPOSED what these paid ipob trolls are doing on several online platforms and I shared the BBC video and other specifics with you on the urgent need to STOP them physically with the Super Moderators and with AI ASAP. 2] Second, the process of registration of new NL accounts with free throwaway emails have to be looked into and regulated [with a manual check by a moderator or admin and approval process time of 2 to 3 days implemented ASAP which is what many international discussion forums that I've belonged to since the 1990s do] because all it takes for any troll or NL account that has been BANNED for 1 year or more to do is to quickly create a new NL account within just 3 to 4 minutes and he or she keeps posting, trolling, spreading hate speech, and derailing NL threads with massive disinformation which defeats the purpose of the BANS. This has gone on since 2012 with the rise of ipob and other insidious secessionist groups. 3] Third, and most important, YOU still have to do more in stopping many of these well-known NL monikers and paid ipob troll farms from being active here with their disinformation and defaming of the Nigerian President 'Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I've NEVER voted since I last did on June 12, 1993, but I find it highly IRRESPONSIBLE for a large number of paid ipob troll farms to keep calling 'Bola Tinubu a "drug baron" and "druggie or Iragbiji druggie" right on NL. Since 1993 and even in 2003 the United States Government has affirmed that 'Bola Ahmed Tinubu (the Mobil Nigeria now ExxonMobil technocrat, Chartered Accountant and Auditor who rose to the senior rank of a treasurer) has NO hard drugs trade convictions or is/was EVER a drug baron. In 2003, the then Legal Attache of the United States Consulate in Lagos, Michael Bonner issued an official document attached right BELOW CLEARLY stating that the then Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Lagos State has NEVER been convicted in the United States and the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) National Crime Information Center NCIC which is the central database of ALL arrests and convicted criminals in the United States and her territories does NOT include Tinubu's name. Hence the deliberate and repeated highly defamatory insults and references to Tinubu even as of today on NL as a drug baron or druggie or former drug baron by these well known monikers and paid ipob troll farms is unacceptable here. I hope you can give me your feedback on this in order to ensure that these paid troll farms farms indicted heavily by the BBC Global Disinformation Team investigative video which you have to watch if you haven't for spreading massive disinformation and hate speech with the aim of causing ethnic tensions and disintegrating Nigeria finally kick rocks and get removed totally. |
dangermouse:Absolutely well said, even the Sunni Arab groups are waiting patiently for that insidious regime of Shiite mullahs in Iran to kick rocks. The Russians and Chinese leadership are the only ones who have refused to receive common sense with their continuous sharing of critical Military technology with Iran who are known terror sponsors and I wonder what's really wrong with these dudes in those two countries of Russia and China? I just want to see the use of technology for LARGELY peaceful purposes in Iran after this war is over and Israel will even be the FIRST one to assist any new goverment that replaces these Shiite clerics because the Israelis and Iranians have been very close friends right from the days of the Shahs of Persia (Iran). |
Jeezuzpick:You're absolutely correct. The person you quoted is highly uninformed about Iran. Iran is the homeland of the Zoroastrian Emperor Cyrus the Great of the mighty Persian Empire so, Iran has had great economic, social and political power for centuries. It's just unfortunate that the Parsis are under these insidious Iranian Shiite mullahs since 1979. I actually admire the Iranian people on the street level and their professionals a lot, even Donald Trump surprisingly expressed his empathy with the people of Iran just two days ago. Although they do NOT experience the crab mentality (or pull-him-down syndrome) that is associated with a heavily multi-ethnic society like Nigeria, aside from the Kurds, the Iranians are largely Parsis with some Jewish immigrant descendants from decades back. The Iranians of today are indeed very brilliant with a large Iranian-American community working in different high-capacity fields of human endeavor for instance which is a veritable source of technology transfer. Christiane Amanpour of the CNN is of Iranian descent and constitutes part of the Iranian Diaspora I'm talking about here. Some of the advanced weaponized drones the Russians are using to fight Ukraine right now were actually manufactured and supplied by the Iranians who have advanced technologies as we speak. They make aircraft, surveillance and weaponized drones, and several industrial equipment used in agribusiness which Nigeria doesn't even produce. |
dangermouse:Succinctly stated. You're one of the few folks like me here who truly understand the real-time, historical dynamics of what is going on. These Shiite mullahs of Iran must NEVER be allowed to develop nuclear weapons otherwise we're all toast. Since the so-called 1979 Iranian revolution right into the 1980s, I have known first-hand about the Shiite mullahs of Iran and their highly disruptive activities in sponsoring terror groups around the world (long before the radical Sunni Wahabi groups began to emerge with Al-Qaeda and ISIS, etc) with Hezbollah having affiliations with the Lebanese community in Nigeria especially in the far North of Nigeria and their Shiite indoctrinations of Nigerian students in Northern Uni campuses and elsewhere from the early 1980s. |
TruthsFM:Oleju Kate... That's her name. It's her rigid preference though, but if I were given an option to choose, I wouldn't go for her as that's an inflexible lifestyle. |

Newsgeek24:Since 2021 when this man got murdered. Just like yesterday. |
adenigga:There are several journalistic contradictions in this article. Why would fishermen knowingly aid herdsmen rushing back in the last 1 week to cross the river along the Benue/Nassarawa boundary knowing FULL well that it's a sign of an impending attack from the militia arm of the Fula herders and bandits? |
nairalanda1:True that. As someone who lived through that era andcsaw things first-hand, I can confirm that what you posted is accurate. Globally, inflation has been on the upswing in all countries of the world and retail prices of goods and services have NEVER been static contrary to the uninformed opinions of some younger posters online. There were many expats and academics back in Nigeria from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Ghana, Jamaica, the United States, Europe, etc, in the 1970s right through to 1985 when IBB's military dictatorship introduced the Structural Adjustment Program, things became tougher, and many expatriates started leaving Nigeria for greener pastures in North America, the Middle East and Europe just like their Nigerian colleagues. I knew some of them and their children back in the day and we still keep in touch till today. A Ghanaian buddy of mine since 1980 whose parents were academics in Nigeria currently works as a finance specialist on Wall Street, NY, and we keep in touch till date. |
TimeManager:84 billion USD saved from petrol subsidy in 2 years? That's an average of 42 million USD in 2 years on the Tinubu Presidency. That's looks like a typographic error though. I want to see an annual breakdown of this subsidy savings in the last 2 years. BUT the subsidy removal is the BEST thing to happen and they have to deal with the low-hanging fruits FIRST by getting the trains to run on CNG fuel like Kayode Opeifa said, with CNG high-capacity buses, and get massive CNG infrastructure in all the 6 regions of Nigeria ASAP to crash food production costs and make the cost of living bearable due to the artificial inflation for the folks in Nigeria. |
Editorialtimes:There's a 50-50 chance that it could lead to unintended consequences because there are other groups that have carried out car bombings right in Tehran in the last 10 years. So care has to be taken to NOT allow what happened in Libya and Iraq to happen in Iran. NO doubt, a quick regime change is necessary but it MUST be neatly done. Leaving those Iranian Shiite mullahs in power will be the biggest single mistake right now because they will simply get deadlier and seek revenge. Period. |
plaindealer:Throwback. I wonder what the current status of the construction work on that highway is as of today with reference to the involvement of Lagos and Ogun States? |
Neyopumpin13:I just did an advanced online fact-check and you are right with your total figures of N74,800 right ABOVE. I saw the 1kg of Golden Penny Semolina for 1,800, BUT the discount grocery store called Bokku Mart in Lagos sells that for 1,600. The internet has literally put comparison shopping and information gathering at our finger tips NO matter where you are located in the world. |
olawaleatanda:Where or what location was this purchase made from? |
EarlierDawn:This supposed Yoruba girl should be properly investigated by the Nigerian High Commission in India and NIA official to know if that's her real name because many couriers that have been arrested over the decades DON'T use their real names and use fake travel passports. Second, the few criminal elements among the Yorubas don't frequent India or Pakistan in that hard drugs area. It's usually Anambra people among the Ibos who lead in smuggling drugs to the Asian countries based on decades of credible crime data from the NIA and the NDLEA. If however she's found to be truly a Yoruba girl, then it means these guys from Anambra induced her into going on that deadly journey to India. I still remember how sometime within the last 10 years, one highly IRRESPONSIBLE Anambra drug baron living in Lagos legally married to an equally irresponsible woman of Yoruba origin influenced her to join him in the illicit hard drugs trade but they both got arrested due to shipments made abroad of hard drugs from Lagos and it was widely published in the media outlets. |
erad:You made some valid points there BUT just as I indicated in my post right ABOVE, the lands the Nigerian President is asking for to build ranches MUST NOT be in the hands of the Fulanis who are foreigners because over 95% of the Fulas in the Miyetti Allah cattle group are NOT Nigerians. Over 90% of all the cows sold in Nigeria are from Niger Republic, Mali, Guinea, Cameroon, etc. It was a Fulani man who holds Nigerian citizenship that revealed this important information in a Punch newspaper interview a few years ago simply because they threatened his life within the Miyetti Allah members in Ogun State. He said most of them in Miyetti Allah of Ogun State are Fulanis who spoke with a different dialect from Niger Republic who wanted to kill him and asked for help. So, Benue State and other Middle Belt and Southern Nigeria States such as Ogun, Lagos, Oyo, Edo, Delta, etc, can provide lands for cattle rearing and milk production using improved breeds of cattle for BETTER meat and milk output and interbreed them with the local varieties of cattle. NO need to invite any foreign Fulani herdsmen and foreign Miyetti Allah to join in the proposed Benue ranching otherwise they will causeore problems down the road and they are NOT indigenous Nigerians so they have absolutely NO stake there. Enough of the Nigeria dependence on foreign Fulani herders cows for meat, milk and leather. Period. |
Editorialtimes:The lands Tinubu asked for to use for ranching MUST NOT be for the Fulanis to grow their cows and for milk BUT MUST be in the total control of Tiv, Idoma, Igede folks of Benue for their own business use. Sheep and goats can be thrown into the mix as well. Enough of depending on foreign Fulani herders cows. A lot of people are ignorant of the FACT that more than 95% of the Fulanis in Miyetti Allah are foreign Fulanis from Niger Republic, Mali, Guinea, Cameroon, etc, where most of the cattle sold in Nigeria come from. You CANNOT leave your cattle business in the hands of foreigners. Like Ekiti State and a few private Southern investors have done, simply get improved cow breeds from Netherlands and Argentina and crossbreed them with the local breeds in Nigeria and watch your meat and milk production outputs in Benue, Plateau, Taraba, Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Edo, Delta, Kwara, Kogi, Enugu States explode exponentially, etc. You don't need any foreign Fulani herdsmen to achieve that and artificial feeds can be grown for the cows to eat as well. Be wise. |

Lekison:It's NOT just for any B.S. fortification. That tribe has centuries of history of notoriously eating human beings for food in the areas East of river Niger right into the later parts of the 1900s and in his famous book "Ibos of Nigeria," Reverend George Basden who lived as a missionary in Onitsha wrote about this same cannibalism or eating of human beings (especially strangers) for food in all the areas East of Onitsha with eyewitness accounts of his Ibo Christian converts who said they had been involved in eating human beings! Abam in the current Abia State is one the prominent places Reverend George Basden listed in his book that engaged in cannibalism for food and human sacrifice as well. That was how in 1906, a White British man named Dr. Stewart was killed and eaten for food in the Mbaise area now in Imo State after missing his way in an expedition and his bicycle fell into a trap. His bicycle was hung on a tree to prevent it from "escaping." Achebe wrote about this same event in his book which wasn't fiction but a real event that even New York Times of that year ALSO published it and it's in their archives. P.S. I tried attaching an area map of cannibalism spread and some other images here as EVIDENCE but couldn't, but I'll upload the images later. |
