Although these areas of Ibadan could be much improved, this parts are what would be refered to in many regions of the world as "Old City". This part of ancient cities tend to retain their look and feel from ancient time, although major upgrades and prevention of blight are usually implemented.
I know Ibadan, and the newer parts of the entire city are much more modern that you people like to portray here.
No doubt Ibadan needs a major upgrade that would run into hundreds of billions, but people should stop talking here as if the greater residents of the city live in huts and tattered roofs. |

Gullible like the majority of Nigerian masses, are you? This myth has been sold to devastating consequences to Nigerians over the decades. Let me tell you. You cannot use the count of who has been caught as a measure of who is and who is not corrupt. Those that have been caught are simply the small fries of the Nigerian Corruption, Inc. Those with no serious powerbase, no mighty godfathers, those who have overstepped their bounds by engaging and losing in a power struggle, or those like Ibori that ignorantly put themselves into the hands of foreign laws. We know that for ages northern politicians have dominated the political landscape, hence they are the top of the pyramid in the corruption scheme. They would be the last one to be caught or dealt with by the feeble corruption agencies. Even with all the above the record for barefaced stealing of public funds so far exposed goes to Abacha. So, what is the job of the police force? Answer: Nothing. It is a completely ineffective organization. Its major operational moves are to remove and replace checkpoints, ban tainted car windows and similar nonsensical stuff. This is what happens when the center arrogates all power to itself, completely bereft of ideas on how to meet national needs and aspirations other than to mouth empty crap like "tracking down BH with satellites". You would think the nation actually possesses satellite technology of its own that could serve security purposes - tells the type of the abundance in the heart out which such mouths speak!!! Beaf: Boko Haram: Vigilance group to meet Jonathan From ABDULGAFAR ALABELEWE, Kaduna Monday, May 14 , 2012
Vigilance Group of Nigeria (VGN) said it has concluded arrangements to meet with President Goodluck Jonathan on national security issues this week, just as it called on the Federal Government to withdraw military men from the streets. The group noted that security and peace could not be restored with soldiers on the streets when Nigeria was not at war with any country.
Speaking at the end of VGN 2nd national meeting held in Kaduna yesterday, the Commander General of the group, Alhaji Ali Sokoto, said the need to withdraw the military from the streets and return to the negotiation table with the Boko Haram sect was highly imperative.
According to Sokoto, it was not right to give soldiers guns while they roam the streets, harassing innocent civilians going about their legitimate businesses, querying that, “how then does the government think security can be restored in our country when Nigerians are feeling threatened by seeing soldiers on the streets?” While he opined that there should be an avenue for people to come together and solve their differences without the interference of security agents, VGN commander general urged the government to invite leaders of the Boko Haram sect for dialogue.
Speaking on the level of preparedness and the purpose of meeting President Jonathan, the Ekiti State Commander of the VGN, Mr. Ojo Olusesan, said considering the closeness of the group to the people and its presence in the villages around the country, VGN was capable of ridding Nigeria of violence.
While he stressed that though, the group was not undermining the capability of the military and the police, Olusesan said VGN could provide Security Information Data Base for government and other security agencies.
He, however, maintained that ways of assisting the government would be presented at the meeting with President Jonathan, adding that arrangements had already been concluded to meet with the president.

http://www.osundefender.org/?p=30401 The Government of the State of Osun has distributed instructional materials worth N150 million to all public primary schools in the state, as the government noted that enrollment in public primary schools have increased with the introduction of O-MEAL. The Osun meal, an initiative where primary school pupils are been fed by the state government throughout the 30 Local government and one area office of the state. The Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola at the ceremony to flag off the distribution of the instructional materials in Osogbo added that money for school management had been increased to N75.000 for each school per term as against the N1500 per term being paid by previous administration. The governor stressed that the present administration is committed to making products of public schools in the state eligible into any university in the country. Aregbesola said that, “the totality of the material we are distributing today is about N150 million, but beyond that, we have changed the entire concept of schools management administration. Before the advent of this administration, the totality of what used to go schools was about N1.500 per term, but has changed now to N75.000 to each school per term. “We observed that the amount being paid before now was small and that was why parents were being asked to pay for everything, but now, for each of the pupils, we give minimum of N400 to each of the pupil to each school per term. That was why we insisted that no parent must pay anything anymore for education of their children. We believe that teachers are well groomed that they will not request a kobo from parents, any teachers who go against this must be reported to the nearest police station.” Some of the materials distributed to schools include exercise books, chalks, school registers, diaries, dusters, chalk board renovators, Yoruba rhymes among other schools instructional materials. The governor speaking on the O-MEAL programme, noted that before his administration, pupils were being fed with N26, but now they are being fed with N50, saying that, this will give them the opportunity to eat chicken, fish, eggs and beef among other nutritional meals that will make them mentally sound. He also added that he is elated by the fact that pupils of public schools are now being fed like the children of the elite; the feeding which the Governor noted will enhance the performance of the pupils having been fed with nutritional meals that will make them mentally sound. |

Politics › Mark Faults Govt’s War Against Terror by koruji(op): 4:53am On May 09, 2012 |
http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=85561:mark-faults-govts-war-against-terror-&catid=1:national&Itemid=559 IT was a remark that aptly captured the citizenry’s trepidation over the matter and the speaker’s exasperation on the same issue. Coming from the nation’s Number Three Citizen and an Army general for that matter, perhaps those charged with the responsibility of stemming the terror attacks would rethink their failing strategies now.
At his maiden plenary session following a one-week medical trip to Israel, Senate President David Mark yesterday asked the Federal Government to take decisive action now to save the country from recurring violence orchestrated by the Boko Haram sect.
Mark described the current level of insecurity in the country as “unacceptable” and urged security agencies to up the ante in their efforts to curb the escalating bombing campaign being waged by the Boko Haram sect.
The Senate President stated: “The current level of insecurity in the country is totally unacceptable and something must be done to improve it and very quickly. The terrorists have declared war on Nigeria and Nigerians. Escalating acts of terror not only threaten our unity as a nation but also challenge the very human values we all believe in.
“This is the time for concerted action by all Nigerians, ethnicity, political affiliation and religious beliefs notwithstanding. We have a real problem on our hands and we must handle it with the seriousness that it deserves. We should never politicise it.”
Meanwhile, the Yobe State government has imposed a 14-hour curfew on Potiskum following last Wednesday’s attack on the town’s main cattle market and Monday’s protests by some clerics and youths over the incident.
Announcing the curfew in Damaturu, the state capital, the Police Commissioner, Moses Onireti, said: “The 14-hour curfew is to douse tension in Potiskum, as the youths set ablaze the Evangelical Church in West Africa (ECWA) and two blocks of classrooms at the Yindiski Primary School. The curfew takes effect from today (Tuesday) and will be continued until the security situation improves. Each day, the curfew will start at 4.00 p.m. and last until the dawn of the next day.”
Potiskum, which is one of the five local councils under emergency rule in Yobe, hitherto had had a 12-hour curfew from 6.00 p.m. to 6.00 a.m. (12 hours) until yesterday’s review.
The burnt cattle market has been cordoned by the JTF with four military posts.
However, Mark charged the citizenry not to despair over the state of insecurity in the country.
He stated: “In spite of all these bombings, we should not despair and we must not be disillusioned. We shall overcome through our collective determination.”
Mark also cautioned against incendiary statements, saying: “Divisive statements or finger-pointing are not helpful. Attempts to apportion blames for failures at this time on the terror threats will not lead to any practical and lasting solutions. The primary responsibility of tackling this challenge lies with the government but that notwithstanding, we all have roles to play.”
Advising the aggrieved in the country to express their grievances in a civil manner, Mark stressed the need for dialogue with the Boko Haram sect members.
His words: “I would like to add that these misguided groups are our brothers and sisters. Government must therefore explore all avenues to discuss with them. On the other hand, those who are aggrieved must find a better way to express their grievances. It is in the national interest that there is peace and security, particularly if we want the transformation agenda to succeed.
“I would like to assure Nigerians that the Senate will work tirelessly to enact laws for the peace, order and good governance of the federation with fear of God. On my part, I have sworn that I will continue to ensure that there is equity, justice and fairness.” |

All this bearing in mind that we don't have definitive information which shows conclusively that NASENI's claimed 15kw Ikeji-Ile Ijesha project is precisely, in every aspect, the same as what Osun announces. |

The fact is that sometimes two people who complement each other get too big for each other. At that point it is time to split. Such a split should lead to the sum of the parts being greater than the one.

It seems that these people are on some kind of drug. I find little explanation for the lack of human feelings in their utterances and actions, towards even their fellow muslims. Osama Bin Laden started a movement that continue to kill muslims vs. non-muslims by a 10:1 ratio to this day. Boko Haram, despite targeting christain churches, have killed 1000s more muslims already, and will increasingly do so. Yet, many high placed northerners and islamic clerics have no ideas to curtail BH from the root up. Instead they continue to make statements like these. It is very convenient to forget that prominent northerners openly promised to make Nigeria ungovernable if GEJ were to become president. So,did advocates of SNC also put those words in their mouths way before the elections?Allowing the problem to fester was certainly due to President GEJ's lack of action at the right time. However, BH (and much worse in the future) is the product of decades of northern elites, like Sheik Gumi, sticking it to the common northerner and exploiting them for politico-religious purposes. DaLover: Since the NSA and president are from the same state we cannot achieve security....what an analysis...such tot processes where no where to be found during the military era when for instance a the head of state and his deputy where both muslims.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole on Friday gave the Edo State Police Command a 14 -day ultimatum to fish out the killers of his Private Secretary, Comrade Olaitan Oyerinde. Oshiomhole said if the police failed to do proper investigation on the killing of three journalists last week and that of Olaitan, he would convert his leadership of the state to find solution to the problem of insecurity in the state. He spoke while addressing members of the Action Congress of Nigeria after joining them in a street protest over the killing shortly after returning from Abuja. Oshiomhole, who was moved to tears, joined in the protest from the Benin Airport through major streets in the city. He said the killing was to stop the flag-off of his campaign rally on Saturday and advised the ACN members not to take laws into their hands. He said, “I am giving the Police 14 days from today to produce the killers of Olaitan and to establish the killing of those journalists. If they do not do that, as the Chief Security Officer of this state, I reserve all my options. This country will either fail or stand. Nobody can intimidate me. Even out of power I was not intimidated.” Governor Oshiomhole disclosed that he submitted a petition to the state Commissioner of Police, Olayinka Balogun, about a meeting where a critical evaluation of the forthcoming election was carried out. His words, “Last week, they succeed in killing three journalists. Last night, they killed Olaitan. Let me be clear they cannot kill my fighting spirit. They agreed at the meeting that it is impossible for them to win the election. “They also resolved at the meeting to intimidate my person and if possible to eliminate. At that meeting, they said they will kill under the guise of armed robbery, many of my personal staff and key leaders. “I also informed the police that they resolved that several weeks before the election, they will detonate bombs in parts of the state in order to scare people away from going to vote. What is our crime? Our crime is that we have mobilised our people, we have deployed public resources for the public good and the godfather is angry.” “The blood of these young men will fire me on to fight and defeat them. There is no going back. They have killed my son. They have killed my brother, they have killed my people but they cannot kill my spirit. “Last night like coward, they shot Olaitan in the chest, head and belly to make sure he never survives. “I want to serve them notice. I have the capacity and the men. If they do not behave, we can stop them from coming to Edo State. Let me say I have not come to cry today. The blood of those young men will whet my appetite for justice because their plan is to postpone again for the second time our campaign.” “Tomorrow, we will go ahead because Olaitan in his lifetime was a fighter. We met in the field of struggle not on the dining table. I asked you not to be afraid and not to be intimidated. Don’t give up. If anything, we should be more resolved" |

1. The General's definition of social justice is likely to be just as wrong as PDP's lack of knowledge of the term. 2. The General himself was once part and parcel, as well as a perpetrator, of social injustice.

Former governor of Lagos State and the National Leader of Action Congress of Nigeria, Chief Bola Tinubu, on Monday denied holding any private meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan at the weekend. Tinubu who spoke at the local wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, was reacting to reports that he met with Jonathan in Lagos at the weekend in company with Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu and the Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola . Tinubu said, “To tell you categorically, I did not attend any meeting with the president, in company with the Oba of Lagos. I was not even aware that the president was coming to Lagos until later after the visit of the Oba at night. “So, there was no meeting between myself, the president and the Oba of Lagos and I am very sure that the governor did not attend any such meeting with the president.’’ He however said that he would honour invitation from the President because leaders of various political parties had been meeting with him on national issues. On the present security situation in Nigeria, he said it was “a critical time when all hands must be on deck’’ to help solve the problems. “This is the time to get together to develop ideas that can help the nation as a whole. “The matter of security should be less politicised and advice should be solicited in good faith. If ideas are solicited in good faith, one would offer them,’’ he said. On the way out of the Boko Haram problem, Tinubu said that it was a critical issue confronting the nation. He expressed regrets that such a tragedy confronting the country was reaching a dimension where Nigerians could not afford to ignore it or sleep with their two eyes closed. “On this national issue of security, President Goodluck Jonathan, as the Commander-In-Chief of the Nigerian armed forces, should be the first person who probably should commence the consultation with the people and must not politicise this problem. “Since 1999, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been ruling this country; they claim to have the wisdom and the apparatus to govern it. “But each time they react to this question of national security, they have been blaming one political party or the other. That is passing the buck,’’ he said. Tinubu said that there was a clear line as well as ideological differences between the ruling party and the other political parties but “this Nigeria still belongs to all of us.” He urged the PDP- led Federal Government to cry for help from others, noting that it would get it if it did, instead of putting blames on the other parties or categorising one party as “one man party’’. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the ACN chieftain was on his way to Benin, to visit Governor Adams Oshiomhole, following the accident involving the latter’s motorcade. Three journalists were reportedly killed in the accident which occurred while the governor was returning from where he had welcomed defecting members of the PDP to ACN. |

You should stop displaying that damaged psyche you carried all the way from Nigeria. This is not to suggest you compromise your standards if you so desire, but keep it at that without insulting hardworking Nigerians who have worked through all kinds of difficulties to make their mark. Your statement below basically says that if blacks are doing something separate it must be inferior to whites. Think about the following statement: What is a bowl of rice (whites) with 3 beans (blacks) thrown inside and mixed up - a bowl of rice!!!. In other words, all institutions in America either by design or by happenstance are for whites. The opposite should be the case in Africa, except that most of our people are like you who consider anything involving whites as superior to blacks - in our case a bowl of rice (blacks) with three beans (whites) thrown inside becomes a bowl of beans. You are the kind of people that will make fun of a nose for shaping itself to hold a pair of glasses - forgetting that a pair of glasses is made that way because that is the shape of noses. The two ugly sides of religious extremism.http://news.yahoo.com/us-pastor-burns-korans-urge-iran-clergyman-release-143247851.html A controversial Florida pastor has burned copies of the Koran and a depiction of the prophet Mohammed to protest the imprisonment in Iran of a Christian clergyman Youcef Nadarkhani. The burning, attended by 20 people and streamed live over the Internet, was carried out by pastor Terry Jones' church in Gainesville, Florida on Saturday, The Gainesville Sun said, and video of the burning was uploaded to YouTube by the pastor's supporting group "Stand Up America Now." The Pentagon had urged Jones to reconsider, expressing concern that American soldiers in Afghanistan and elsewhere could be put at greater risk because of the act, according to the newspaper, but Jones insisted to go ahead with the protest in the name of the release of the Christian pastor in Iran. Nadarkhani was arrested in October 2009 and condemned to death under Islamic sharia law for converting to Christianity when he was 19. Now 34, he is a pastor of a small evangelical community called the Church of Iran. Iran's supreme court in July 2011 overturned the death sentence and sent the case back to the court in Nadarkhani's hometown of Rasht, in Gilan province. His retrial took place at the end of September 2011 with no verdict made public. Several Western countries, including the United States, Britain, Germany and France, condemned the death sentence and said they feared it could be carried out soon. In March 2011, the US pastor's assistant burned a copy of the Koran and broadcast the ceremony on the Internet, with the images inciting violence in northern Afghanistan, in which at least 12 people were killed. Moments after the burning on Saturday, the Gainesville fire department issued the church a citation for violating the city's fire ordinances, the report said. |

You are the enablers for a prophet of DOOM. Why does he see only evil events? He needs to tell us where the leader of Boko Haram lives, where ALL their bombs are located - things that will help get rid of the EVIL. naijanow: While watching Emmanuel TV this morning, I heard TB Joshua suddenly stop his speech and ask the congregation to rise and pray for protection for the youth. He said Attack! and that it would be in this country. Not much later, news broke that bombs had exploded at a church on BUK campus, Bayero University in Kano! Is this proof that there is a prophet among us? Is this proof that God is still speaking to us, revealing Himself to us? Let's continue to pray for our protection, as the prophet advised. God bless Naija! |

What is GEJ talking about now?
Did he not repeat worse things over and over again over the last few months:
1. We know those behind BH. . . 2. BH has infiltrated my government. 3. Blah blah blah. . .
How is the above different from what Azazi said. In fact what GEJ has being spewing over the last several months is worse than what Azazi said.
Azazi knows that they are plotting his removal, so as a military man he swung preemptively - simple as ABC. |
