I can't agree that Nintendo won E3, but M$ had the worse showings. . . No more PS Exclusives to steal . . Sony showed Games and that's what E3 is primarily about, Porter 2 and Twisted metal 2 definitely stole the show. I was disappointed though, No Resistance 3 and/or Agent anywhere |

Gaming / Steam, Portal 2 Confirmed, PS3 To Have "Best Version" by kosovo(m): 9:56pm On Jun 15, 2010 |
The Valve boss has interrupted the Sony press conference with the news that Portal 2 would not only be coming to Sony's flagship console, the new features will make this version the "best." They showed off a brief teaser trailer and although we have to wait until 2011, the mere fact that it's coming is great news for Valve followers everywhere. Portal was a critically acclaimed title that garnered tons of loyal followers, and the sequel is hotly anticipated by many. We're going to try to get the teaser vid ASAP - as we are with all footage from Sony's press conference - but in the meantime, maybe we should all take back a few of the bad things we've said about Newell, We're impressed that Sony never took any Valve slight personally and worked to land more support for the PS3. We just figured it'd be a cold day in hell when Newell stepped onto any PlayStation-oriented stage anywhere, but hey, this conference is getting more surprising with every passing minute. And it ain't over yet, so stay tuned! We'll also try to work up a new preview for Portal 2 as soon as there's enough PS3-related information available. http://gaming.icrontic.com/news/steam-announced-for-playstation-3/ |

Gaming / Sony E3 Conference Is In 3d by kosovo(m): 7:53pm On Jun 15, 2010 |
Sony’s effort regarding 3D has been noticed by practically everyone. They want to ensure the 3D technology is integrated into all their electronic products. However, did you ever imagine they would go so far as to make their E3 press conference in 3D? Yeah, we didn’t as well. Well, it’s true, it’s been confirmed that Sony will be doing their E3 conference in full 3D. Wow, Sony, just wow. http://playstationlifestyle.net/2010/06/15/sony-e3-conference-is-in-3d/

They might prefer to see new consoles; failing that, an accessory which obliges the customer to get some new games may just do the trick. Anyway, down to business. The system centres on a sensor which you place above or below your TV - it has three cameras plus voice recognition built in, so it knows an awful lot about who you are, how far away you're standing and how you are moving. We filmed Kinect just before the celebs flooded in to have their go, and I got a chance to play a couple of games. One involved steering a dinghy down through the rapids, another was a hurdle race, one of a series of sports games. It was an enjoyable, if sweaty, half-hour, and I could certainly see the attractions of throwing away the control and just flinging yourself at the game. But I was not quite convinced that Microsoft's technology would deliver for hard-core gamers. It seemed to work well on fun Wii-like games where you didn't need too much precision - I'm not so sure how whether it would deliver on a first-person shooter. I've also had a go on Sony's Move motion control system, which is unveiled on Tuesday. Sony's solution is much less radical. It has retained the controller, now adorned with glowing spheres which interact with a sensor unit on the television. This makes the whole experience less physical than with Kinect, but it also delivers a lot more precision. Sony showed us a table tennis game which seemed to mimic the real thing much more closely than I have seen elsewhere. |
Gaming / Will Gamers Want To Kinect Or Move? by kosovo(m): 6:19am On Jun 15, 2010 |
Los Angeles: If you want to see the future, head for a games convention. The computer and video games industry has poured billions into innovation over the last decade, particularly since it became a new front in the battle for the home between giants like Sony and Microsoft. They used their Playstation and Xbox platforms to experiment with rival high-definition video systems; Sony's Blu-ray won that battle. At this week's E3 event in Los Angeles, both companies are unveiling innovative ways of interacting with their consoles. In that mission, they are trying to steal a march on Nintendo which proved with the Wii that new ways of playing games could be just as important as fancy graphics. KinectMicrosoft last night unveiled the results of Project Natal, the hefty research project which promised to turn the bodies of game players into human console controllers. It will now be known as Kinect, and is scheduled to hit the shops in November, just in time to give the video games industry a much-needed boost in pretty hard times. The launch had lashings of Hollywood razzmatazz, with a bevy of stars parading along a red carpet into a performance by Cirque du Soleil. For some reason I still can't quite understand, I found myself interviewing Jack Osborne about the future of gaming. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/rorycellanjones/2010/06/will_gamers_want_to_kinect_or.html |

Gaming / Playstation Move Delivers A Lot More Precision Than Kinect Claims Bbc by kosovo(m): 11:01pm On Jun 14, 2010 |
Rory-Cellan Jones of the BBC was recently lucky enough to go hands-on with the latest build of Move as well as Kinect. Inevitably he has drawn comparisons between the two and interestingly he claims that Move delivers a 'lot more precision' than Kinect but it is less physical. Jones tested out a table tennis game with the Move and exclaimed it mimics the real thing much more closely than anything he's ever seen before. Here's his key thoughts via his BBC blog This makes the whole experience less physical than with Kinect, but it also delivers a lot more precision. Sony showed us a table tennis game which seemed to mimic the real thing much more closely than I have seen elsewhere. http://www.maxconsole.net/content.php?40537-Playstation-Move-delivers-a-lot-more-precision-than-Kinect-claims-BBC |
Gaming / Sony Has Open Net As Kinect Fails To Impress by kosovo(m): 10:46pm On Jun 14, 2010 |
Fans and media alike were present earlier tonight as Microsoft decided to go ahead and present their upcoming motion sensor, essentially EyeToy clone, Kinect. Well, it appears that things got very strange very fast and may have just cemented the PlayStation Move’s victory. According to reports, the Kinect presentation began with all attendees having to put on white robes followed by an odd Circe de Soleil-type presentation and then finally followed by gameplay. Many of the titles bore an awfully close resemblance to the titles included with Nintendo’s Wii Sports title, accompanied by supposed lag issues and an overall lackluster experience. One new Star Wars title did make it’s debut, although many have stated that the preview was almost definitely pre-rendered. Some of the on-screen actions were done before the actors even moved, which has caused many attendees to claim that the show was pre-recorded. Is this because Kinect is still too laggy? Or were they afraid the system would Red Ring of Death in the middle of demonstration? What does this mean for Sony? It means that Sony has a breakaway with an empty net wide open, all they have to do is tap it home, and by “it” we mean the PlayStation Move. If Sony can manage a solid presentation while making the key component of their presentation quality games, they will most definitely have earned big points in the motion controller (or lack thereof) battle. Earlier today, actress and former Dancing with The Stars beauty, Brooke Burke, managed to get her hands on PlayStation Move and tweeted the following: I’m totally blown away by the new game we just previewed. Play Station Move. So cool my kids loved it!!!! Seems like positive press thus far, as the key to Move’s success will lie in the ability to attract gamer’s young and old, and it certainly appears to be succeeding in that right. Stay tuned to PlayStation LifeStyle, as we’ll be sure to bring you absolutely every piece of Sony-related E3 news the second it breaks. http://playstationlifestyle.net/2010/06/14/sony-has-open-net-as-kinect-fails-to-impress/ |
Gaming / Microsoft Conference Was A Huge Disappointment by kosovo(m): 10:39pm On Jun 14, 2010 |
That was not what I was expecting, the show was a huge disappointment, not a single game was announced except for the crytek game. The best part was MGS:R which is multi platform, MS got the biggest cheer when they gave away free stuff, that was a fail MS. A huge fail. I was hoping for a announcement of anything, Mass Effect, Portal, something to get me excited, in the end I had to force myself to keep watching. Fail MS, an utter Failure. The first half was good, but no huge announcements or shocks it left me feeling underwhelmed. The best showing for me was the Halo demo, looked great. But nothing shocked me, or anyone. With both Sony and Nintendo looking to have a shot tomorrow, I am really hoping they don’t follow suite and make the confrence 100% casual. MS had a decent start but showed us absolutely nothing of what Kinect can do for the Hardcore. I beg you Sony, don’t do that to us. http://igamereport.com/2010/06/15/microsoft-conference-was-a-huge-disappointment/ |
Gaming / Gran Turismo 5 "most Anticipated Game Of The Decade" Says Sony. by kosovo(m): 5:56pm On Jun 13, 2010 |
It is hard to believe that after years of development and teasing, Sony comes out and calls Gran Turismo 5 the “Most Anticipated Game of the Decade”. While most may disagree that it’s not, many new gamers may not even know or remember what Gran Turismo is. The Gran Turismo series was first introduced in 1997 on the PlayStation. The game quickly became one of Sony’s heavy hitters, and has been one of the most recognizable titles for the PlayStation. 13 years and over 12 variation of the game later, Sony is set to unveil details on ‘Gran Turismo 5′ for the PlayStation 3 at this year’s E3. Sony has gone as far as stating that Gran Turismo 5 is the most anticipated game of the decade on the PlayStation site. “Announcements about most anticipated games of the decade (cough GT5 cough)” is what is posted on their latest E3 2010 preview. While this might get Gran Turimso fans exited, Sony must realize that today’s PS3 fan base has changed dramatically. Yes, GT5 will be a great game, heck years of development and teasing, it better be good– but today’s PS3 gamer has forgotten or doesn’t even know what Gran Turismo is all about. Today’s PS3 crowd would be more exited for a new Uncharted, God of War, or a Heavy Rain. Looking back at what the Gran Turismo series has done for Sony, it makes sense why Sony would really promote GT5 as being the most anticipated game, but GT5 will have to be a mind blowing and revolutionary game or come packed with Uncharted 3, Heavy Rain 2, and God of War 4 if they plan on exiting the new PS3 gamers. http://www.tqcast.com/2010/06/13/gran-turismo-5-most-anticipated-game-of-the-decade-says-sony-really/

Gaming / Killzone 3 Gameplay Trailer Will Leave You Breathless, Epic Is An Understatement by kosovo(m): 10:48am On Jun 13, 2010 |
It was quite the episode of GameTrailersTV, the hour-long program featured Tomonobu Itagaki's new game and a guest host supermodel. Arguably the biggest, most explosive debut went to Killzone 3 and the very first gameplay footage ever seen of Guerrilla's next potential masterpiece. We've heard about two fresh new additions: an enhanced melee combat mechanic, and the inclusion of futuristic jet packs. Well, you can see both on display here; the jet pack bit where the dude rips it off an enemy, puts it on, and proceeds to engage in combat while flying forward is just plain sweet. And of course, the game looks damn amazing, as expected. We expect to see even more at E3 and perhaps the first release date estimation. They may do what the Sony Santa Monica team has done with the God of War franchise; i.e., release new installments in the same month. GoW has always been March, for instance, so perhaps KZ3 will be ready to go in either late-January or early-February 2011. Either way, it's going to have one hell of an impact on the FPS genre. Gaming / Game Prices Natal At £145 by kosovo(m): 10:41am On Jun 13, 2010 |
After GAME revealed a countdown timer yesterday to today's Natal conference held in LA. It appears that the Danish GAME has priced the product at 1.299,00 DKK. Converting this to UK pounds works out at around £145 that's just over $200 or 175 Euros. To put things into perspective, Danish Game also sells the Xbox 360 Arcade for the same price. We're not sure how accurate this pricing is, or whether it reflects the pricing in other countries. However, if this is indeed the true price, and regardless of whether it ships with a game pack is still quite expensive and will probably be too much for some. GAME UK now list the product available for pre-order for a deposit of £20. It has been reported that Microsoft aims to shift some 5 million Natal units. http://www.msxbox-world.com/xbox360/news/article/12508/Danish-Game-prices-Natal-at-%C2%A3145.html Natal will Fail if it priced at this ridiculous price. . . i hope MS does otherwise at E3 . . .
