Who else noticed that in a blink of an eye, Justwise pulled up the ‘sins’ of Adedamola?
But he hasn’t been able to pull up the ‘INSULTS’ purportedly meted out on him by ralphjean?

Simple reason is because those insults don’t exist.
We were all here. We followed that debate. That guy never insulted Justwise. But because he has power, he wielded it, then banned the guy. And is now saying the guy insulted him. You ban someone, then accuse him of insulting you. It smacks of sheer cowardice. I remember when Boris prorogued Parliament. Nicola sturgeon it was that described BoJo as a “Tin Pot Dictator”

Banning someone. Then claiming they insulted you. Without any evidence. That is not nice.

Or maybe this was the insult. Because the guy was surprised at you saying letters end up in the bin.

I am still looking for where the guy insulted you.

Before I get banned too, I will say it loud:
I dare you point out where that guy insulted you. You can’t point that out, because the ‘insults’ don’t exist.
Those insults are as imaginary as the existence of Unicorns.

Dear friends on this thread,

Re: TV Licence Fees

I am writing this to you because of my firm believe that this thread is meant to promote the right thing. I am writing this because I believe that dodging TV Licence fees is illegal (at least within the ambit of the law as IG currently is).

My advice:
If you do not require the TV licence, it’s fine. All you need to do is:
Visit the licensing website:
https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/check-if-you-need-one/topics/cancellations-and-refunds-top7

In less than 2 minutes, fill the form.
They will send you an exemption.

Afterwards, you don’t have to be glancing over your shoulders and frigging, cowering in fear anytime there is a knock on the door.

Yours sincerely,
RalphJean
(who applied for, and got an exemption hence I do not watch, I do not pay and do not need to sound reminders to my children to shut the door to Law Enforcement Officers).

I personally loved this contribution, I took it to heart and applied for exemption because I do not watch live Tv. I was very grateful to Ralphjean for the info and the link.
Today, I am learning that it constitutes an INSULT to the moderator who is Justwise.

Surely, verily verily... Buhari and Kim Jong Un are learners.

If they turn out to be licensing officers, I will let them in and offer them a cuppa.
It’s one of three things:

1. I have up to date TV licence payment
Or
2. I have a valid, and legal TV licence exemption
Or
3. I am watching live TV without paying. Which is illegal.

Those are the only 3 ‘valid’ options.

Justwise: I will advice that you be consistent. Anytime someone on the student thread asks question, or suggests to want to cheat the system (albeit stylishly), you stick to the rules, and sometimes even clamp down on them. Which I think is the right thing to do.

But here you are, preaching door closing and refusing entry when you could use that energy to encourage members here to either pay the licence fee, or apply for an exemption.

#Consistency

If this is what is called Insult, then the world has gone crazy

Only a criminally minded person will refuse to allow them. Why go through the trouble of troubling every house member, (including the kids, and grandma who only just came to the UK to holiday) with those kinds of instructions when you could simply pay £13 prr month, or LEGALLY apply for, and get an exemption?

If the above is an Insult, then the world is mad

I have problem with tv license and I don’t think one should pay it if you don’t watch BBC programs.

BBC should go commercial to generate revenue just as other channels.

I will not pay for something I don’t use, if I have a skybox and I pay my monthly subscription why should I also pay BBC because I watch sky programs?

Do not allow them into your house simple !

Their warning letters means nothing, they end up in bin.

This is what Justwise was preaching.

TheGuyFromHR,
I can assure you that as someone who followed that debate closely, there was absolutely NO insult.
NOBODY WAS INSULTED.
All this talk about insult is a figment of Justwise’s imagination.

I have dared, double dared and still dare him to release the hidden posts, unban the Ralph guy, and show us where the INSULTS were.

How many whites... what data do you have to support this statement .

When it comes to playing the race card, just brandish your blackness, and juxtapose against whiteness and you are good to go.

You still don’t get it, do you?
It’s not about opening the door, it’s about not giving anyone a reason to knock at your door in the first place.
Applying for an exemption - which is the right and legal thing to do - takes less than 2 minutes. Now, if you do the right thing, no one will show up at your door, and you will have no reason to hide/slam the door/tell them you are not home, like my uncle Lexus grin

Slam the door when they come. And if they go get a warrant to inspect your property, say it’s because you are black. And they don’t do it to whites.

Gospel according to Regex.

Semantics!

The law requires you to apply for exemption if you do not watch live tv. That’s the law, but your friend insists on slamming the door when the authorities come for inspection, the law be dammed!

That was the bone of contention, not whether or not it is criminal to watch tv. His preferred approach is bad behaviour at best, and criminal behaviour at its core. Yes, I said it!

Icon8, as someone who followed this debate between Justwise and ralph 2 weeks ago, I can categorically tell you that I have my opinion on who would perform worst than Buhari and who among those two guys have dictatorial tendencies.

Whereas one of the guys was saying if you do not watch live Tv, and they come for you, you fill a form and they will give you an exemption.
The other guy was saying if you do not watch live Tv and they come for you, slam the door in their faces.

Both of those ‘solutions’ can be carried out.
But one of those solutions (Ralph’s) is what law abiding citizens would do.
The second solution (Justwise) sounded to me like what dodgy people would do.

One of the guys refused to agree that the formal and legal application is correct, rather slamming door is solution.

Guess who got banned? The guy who painfully went to provide us with link of how to apply (like law abiding citizens) for an exempt.

To worsen it, some dude is now even playing the race card.

I give up.
I will never blame Buhari or Kim Jong Un or General Franco again.

Dictators are everywhere.
Even in small Nairaland, see how someone is wielding power like a god. Banning people for saying what is 100% true.

How many times do i need to repeat this before you paused and think? Watching TV without a license is not a crime. try and figure out the missing word there and then stop arguing

No.
You try and figure out the word that you are deliberately omitting for reasons best known to you.

The whole debate (if I recall correctly) was about TV licensing.

Watching live TV without license in the UK is a crime.

Maybe you should unban ralph first.

Justwise, I beg you in the name of God. Stop misinforming the uninformed. It’s not fair.

Watching live T. V in the uk on any gadget whether phone, tablet, TV, laptop without a TV license is a crime.

Granted, there were plans and moves by Govt to decriminalise it (I think sometime in 2020). In that plan, the intention was to make offenders to pay fine, and not face criminal charges. But that was only the Plan.

As things are in the UK today. Watching live Tv without a Tv license is a crime.

Well well.. at this point, let me stop arguing with the all-knowing Justwise before he bans me too like he did with RalphJean.

OK. Bye.

That is how I see some of Justwise post hence my inital comment to you Justwise .... Why ban when it's a case of two fighting .

Simple reasoning is: do not argue with someone who has power, even if the person is not right.

If we have to wield the big stick every time someone insults us, we all will become tyrants, dictators, authoritarians, autocrats, Buhari, Idi Amin, Hitler, among other names.

Stop banning people for just calling you names. It’s abuse of power and an infringement on their freedom of expression - simple. What you did is not any different from what Buhari did with Twitter. He felt disrespected and banned Twitter, while you also felt disrespected and banned that fellow! Stop it, it’s beneath you and unbecoming of a gatekeeper.

Besides in that case, nobody was actually insulted. What happened was that someone FLELT as though they have been insulted. Unfortunately for the ralph guy, that someone who felt insulted (eventhough not insulted) happened to be someone who hold the Nairaland “power of life and death...”

So just like #TyrantBuhari did with Twitter, the ‘offender’ wAs banned.

honestly @ Justwise you cannot unilaterally banned someone because they called you a criminal or some other insults. That is all shades of wrong. This is a clear case of if man was God

Besides, the guy never called justwise a criminal. The guy said what justwise was suggesting is a criminal offense.
The ralph guy didn’t just stop there, he went on to provide details of what needs to be done. Included links.
Yet he was banned.

Again, I challenge justwise to unban him and bring back all the posts he deleted. Let us all see it here, then we can determine whether the guy insulted justwise.

Saying something is a criminal offense and anyone who commits that is legally a criminal does not amount to insult, does it?

That guy NEVER called you a criminal.
If I recall correctly, and I am sure I recall correctly. The guy said not paying Tv licence is a criminal offense in the uk. Which is very true.

I dare you to unban him, then bring back all his posts that you deleted, and show us exactly where he insulated you.

This group and drama.

Oga Justwise, kindly unban Ralphjean. Not sure he warranted that long ban

I have said the same thing severally.
And that guy’s ‘crime’ was because he disagreed with the mod of this page.
ralphjeans post and link was very helpful. I applied and received a mail in the post 3 days ago, exempting me from paying Tv licence.
The Ralph guy offered sound legal advice. Yet he was banned because the moderator preferred door closing rather than simple legal means to get Tv licence exempt.
And that was enough for a ban.

Someone provided 100% legal panacea for Tv licence, he was banned. And yet we blame Buhari, Lai Mohamed and AGF Malami for banning Twitter in Nigeria.

Chai, catching up on the pages since March. Na wa oo, just few days away and before you know it, talk and gist don plenty grin grin.

Thanks to all who reached out and dustydee for asking. Doing very well, just couldn't keep up with the page for a while but made sure I read all the various gist and happenings around and hopefully chop angels bread bakery one day.

@chukwuma on the empathy post, absolutely spot on, our actions or inactions in the abroad will definitely affect people back home,

Its good to see naija marriage sufferhead mentality changing regarding response to @justagirls post, better to accept you are single and grateful you are not tied with a child.

@Kovic19, you can always apply for IHS refund when you have made previous payment and then applied for a new visa with another IHS payment. Also for those that paid IHS and working in the healthcare sector before the 31st march exemption, you can apply with your dependants through this email (IHSrefunds@homeoffice.gov.uk) with your full details and payment information and if no response in 28days, send it via the complaint section here : internationalcomplaints@homeoffice.gov.uk. This can be done online as well via this link https://www.gov.uk/complain-uk-visas-immigration.

If they don't respond in 28days keep sending, ours and so many others I know got refunded after 6months of initial complaint. Infact, I have raised another complaint because I believe they refunded a lesser amount than we are due and after 1month, they said they are still investigating grin.

They have been falling behind their usual timescale response, so in all just keep pushing even if na £100 na your money grin

@tray2, you can get a mortgage on Tier 2 visa with 12months validity, we got ours with 18months or less, it wasn't really an issue as such.

Thanx a bunch @Fatima04
Email sent. Fingers crossed. Hoping for the best.

KOVIC19COVID20:
Many thanks to all who responded to my previous questions.

I need help once again. This time around not a hypothetical situation but a real life one.

I applied for a 1 year Tier-2 visa in March. I paid IHS It was granted, to expire in April 2022 (based on my certificate of sponsorship).

A few days ago, I applied and switched to a new visa category (5 years). This is not the Health and care visa. I paid full IHS (again).

Can I apply for part refund of my IHS (as Na only 2 months I don ‘chop’ inside.

Anyone got experience?
Who do I even apply to?

There is something about the TV licence that a lot of folks don’t get.
It’s a TV licence not a BBC licence.
It is only compulsory when you watch live TV.
If all you watch is DVD and Netflix and play PS-5, you don’t need a licence. To be at peace, you just apply and you get an exemption. I think that is what Ralph has been trying to say.
