Adolite: @yvete I dont think is shyness or starting a conversation problem but forming what they are not, i have met alot of nigerian girls like that forming accent, forming posh ,imagine someone who didnt have a car, havent been to 3 diff states yet forming. grin
my recent encounter, I met three african girls, one of them is from Naija , imagine this Naija girl always talk to me in american accent while those other african girls talk in piggin wit me just to make our conversation more fun.
I do tutor in school, other girls will come for help but this my Naija girl would not show up for help and she will still copy their homework that i thought them grin even me as a tutor i still got some girls and guyz that i run to for help whenever i needed; I notice whenever i gave them ride to somewhere, she will keep quite and silent throughout[forming biggy ,classy to me].I always Laugh sha.

I have been to many international student party, met some real diff girls but my naija girls na so so formin formin....I DON TIRE FOR THEM OOOO and me dey look for one to date..lol

Yvete: Don't forget that you said that you don't 'toast' Nigerian girls on campus for the same reasons. Remember? You're picky!

Haha! I'm not like that. I don't speak to Nigerians in an American accent. I'm naturally chatty, but, that guy is much older than I am (maybe a 33-39, I guess) so he should know how to start a coversation and stop staring hehehehee

Still don't think you're shy ...
I am not picky, I just don't like fakes.... You can form accent to others but to ur own kind... That's a no-no to me... Well I still don't blame him, you used ur accent to oppress him grin

Ok o... But if we ever meet and I am too quiet, just remember I warned you...

Kpolli ... I would NEVER believe that you're shy. I could also swear that OjaP is not at all shy!! Naaaa!
So ur believing all these my online demo.... I am a very shy person ;wink

Yvete: Hahaaa!

I think that a lot of it has to do either with the 'play hard to get' mentality or maybe their shyness comes across as "forming".
You know that our values may be different from other African girls (esp. Francophone African Countries). A lady might not know how to start a conversation with you so she keeps to herself.

At the beginning of this semester, I was informed that there's a "New" Nigerian guy in my department called Olusegun. I was like, ooh that's cool. We met for the first time last week admist other students and we didn't say anything to each other. grin Wow! Though I was speaking in an American accent because of the diverse group of students there, I'm a 100% sure that he knows I'm Nigerian and I'm also aware that they've told him about me. Instead I caught him staring at me many times. cheesy cheesy Sometimes, you guys are clueless.
In his mind "See this naija girl forming accent, make I no bother myself o jare, b4 she comes and disgraces me"

Adolite: Hi everyone, just want to know if you guys notice this also....my friend asked me why so many nigerians girls over here dont like hanging out with nigerians guys? i kind of noticed that too then i realised i have more other african girls as friends than nigerian girls, why are they forming what they are not? others african's,asian, indian go to each other house, help with homeworks etc but naija girls na so so forming..Do you guys notice that alsohuh? i still dont know reason why? can we put more light to this issuehuh(girls in the house, yvete, mamacita and co)
Nice question, I still dey wonder too
Thanks bro for the encouragement. What are the names of the schools your friends applied to an their deadlines?
It's possible but if you see getting second degree as nothing then u can go for it

Go to usnews.com go to ranked schools, skip to top 150.... and then pick some schools after that number, send them enquiry emails explaining ur portfolio (gpa, gre scores and co.) They would tell u whether u can apply or not. But if ur sure u can score 340/340 in gre... You can check from 80th school downwards

All these is story, the same way I, imperiouxx, you n many others researched to get admission. Everyone else should do the same... I don't bliv in spoon feeding ppl with information. This is a visa thread not admissions thread, I bliv ppl should come here after they have gained admission. Anyone who comes here looking for a school strikes me as someone who doesn't wanna come and learn anything in USA so I don't answer.

I know how many emails I sent out b4 coming here. Same way u can browse NL, You can open any school's site... Send enquiries to admissions offices.. Makes you look serious.

Before someone comes and insults me again like the last time.

Yvete: Thanks! smiley Seems like my last post confuses you. DO NOT QUOTE THIS POST.

Please eliminate the word post-bacc, okay? Post-undergraduate/post-bacc/pre-grad would not get you a student's visa. Let's stick with the phrase "second-degree bachelors". I don't know how many schools offer this option for your degree, that's your homework, but one thing is that you're NOT going to get a lot of info about it if you don't communicate with Grad Advisors. While researching last year, I found lots of schools that offer this option ... its your homework again. If you can't get this option at the College of Engineering, select option 1 or 2.

This is not to discourage you, but I refuse to believe that 2.1 GPA would get you into grad school not even to the Col. of Foreign Languages (I may be wrong). A good GRE may not overcome a poor undergrad GPA and a short, undistinguished resume unless all other factors are on point.
(Sorry, from a Realist, though they say with God all things are possible. Keep trying ... Write the GRE and apply for BS/MS at the same time. smiley
You are, I know one who has her M.Sc, one who is presently in school about to finish.... One in UK also.... It's all about communication and your application package. A very high GRE score shows your smart.... There is a reason why the exam is done.

Second bacc is ok, but I always argue against doing a second degree... To me it's a waste of years and resources.

Plus, madam are you not meant to be reading
Bro, are you saying that i can apply for masters with CGPA of 2.1/4? I'm going for electrical engineering and was denied last year for no SAT. The VO did not even give me the chance to talk. She kept interrupting me every time I say anything but no P. Should I write GRE or SAT?
Prepare very well for GRE and do the exam.... Different criteria are used in selecting candidates.... As I've said I have friends who finished with 3rd class n doing masters in UK n USA now.... One even had 2 extra yrs in school.

cambercharles: Hi everyone, I graduated with a CGPA of 2.3 out of 4. Most of the schools I've bin checking out require a mininmum of 3.0 or at the very least, 2.7 out of 4. I'm very troubled and bothered right now, Please, what do you guys advice I do? Does anyone know any school that can admit me with my CGPA?
I look forward to you guys helping me out.
Thanks
Yvete: Your options:
1. Start all over - 4 years
2. Transfer credits for a new bachelors - 2years
3. Post-bacc/Second-degree bachelors - 1 year/16months
4. Second-degree bachelors -> Masters program - 33 months
Got exams throughout next week... Need to get OFF this site ....If you see me on here, chase me away!!!Argghhhh!! sad angry
Do you have work experience? Score high in your GRE and send a great SOP.... GPA is not the only criteria they use

Please people, if you find a way to sponsor yourself over here to the United states, by all means please do that. There are literally thousands of available jobs for computer science students/Programmers, engineers too!!! So many vacancies left and right... You cannot fathom how desperate they are to get qualified people. This is an investment on your own part. Of course if you are here on this thread, I would assume that you are already making plans to come over. Don't listen to people that say there is money in Naija...that is true, but you know what is really really true? This place is a Diamond Mine. Wish you all good luck in your endeavors.

Merryberry:- Since you're resident in the UK on an F1 visa, you may be able to apply over there. Otherwise, you may have to apply from NIG. I suggest you ask Justwise and co on the UK thread. Like Kpolli advised, get accepted first. Please do NOT lie about your visa denial. I told Imperiouxx the other day how my cuz was denied US Visa 7 times in Nigeria. He got frustrated and applied to an American International University in Europe in hopes to transfer to the US. After graduating, he went back to the Embassy and they asked, have you ever been denied a US visa? He said no and the VO said, "I see that you were denied in Lagos and Abuja respectively". CASE CLOSED! Dude is now in SA.

imperiouxx: Since petroleum is confined to locations, cancel out NM and ND. Your best bet is to stay TX or CA. If not, NM is good and cheap too. Only if you want to study mining then NM is the best. To study geology, all except ND is good. To study ice, ocean, polar bears, penguins, dolphins or whales then a semester in AL is good if you can endure far below freezing point of water.
Louisiana too and Not all universities in Louisiana are expensive... Check the ones with Southern in their name
