Why do you think the majority of football fans, analysts, and pundits rank Pele ahead of Maradona as the greatest ever? Do you think that Pele was as aesthetically pleasing as Maradona or even Messi? At the end of the day one's legacy will determine where he ranks in the pecking order of the pantheon of greats; how did he influence the beautiful game? what did he win for club and country? , how many trophies did he win, goals scored, assists et al?

I remember telling Barca fans not to underestimate Ronaldo; that perfectly-sculpted cyborg from Madeira is a competitive beast and won't stop until he is officially the greatest ever. During that period, most of these pundits would omit CR7 from their top 10(or even top 20) greatest ever without batting an eye-lid, with Messi already in their top 3 since he scored that goal in 2007 coupled with his good boy persona. But now, no sane and unbiased pundit would omit CR from their top 5-10 ever. We will see what happens when both decide to hang their boots.

A club of Madrid's calibre should be winning 4, 5 consecutive league titles and averaging about 2 trophies a season, not winning a league title and the next coming 5 years later.
