Stop talking nonsense. Just list his laurels (and, by the way, participation in civil war does not count, because any healthy dick or harry could do it if compelled to). So, rather than your usual idiotic insults, show us the verifiable track records of your god's patriotism, productivity and self-development. And, please, spare me those silly innuendos. They are broken records already. Finally, the fact that such an embodiment of backwardness is your best choice for leadership (amongst 180 million people) is a clear indictment on you; and it clearly underscores how ret.arded your country is. As, they say, in the land of the blind, the one-eyed slowpoke is often crowned the king. ahidjo: Zero history of patriotism? Where did you get this info from? figment of your hateful imagination? Lacks track record of visible productivity or self development? Are you kidding me? Did you just "think" about what you wrote there or you were just quick to counter blindly? In a population of 180 million, one person has become head of state and president and that person is, according to you, lacking in track record of visible productivity or self development? Please next time you are in doubt about Buhari, ask Obasanjo. Some of you are too lazy and dishonest (as a result of hate) to acknowledge achievements. Some of you just need to be quiet and go away. The sound reasoning is just not there. |

Supporting the presidency of a former dictator, who has zero history of patriotism, lacks track record of visible productivity or self-development, and has no credible academic refrence at 75, is the real definition of STUPIDITY. Just get lost, mr fake "smart" igbo. [s] ahidjo: I do think that that time has come for brilliant, thorough, highly intelligent Igbo folks to show their face on this forum. I say this because, we the smart Igbo guys have become truly frustrated by the many half baked, half-educated, beer-parlor, ill-trained, illogical, simplistic, hateful, dishonest Igbo folks who have continued to disgrace the truly smart Igbo people of Nigeria by their hatefu, illogcal and not-so-smart contributions on this forum. These Igbo simpletons have continued to see everything from ethnic angle, Buhari angle, APC or PDP angle. These shameless folks will stop at nothing to justify anything bad as long as such deed is perpetrated by PDP or Jonathan but on the other hand, castigate or disparage anything good as long as it is coming from Buhari or people that pander towards or work with him. When things don't go well, we should be able to condemn them irrespective of ethnicity, party or individuals involved and also praise good works of anybody irrespective of ethnicity or party affiliation. We must be thorough in our thinking and factual in our presentations and submissions. Beer-parlour ideas and submissions have completely taken over. Unbelievable level of hatred is the norm. It is sad that people in Otuoke have moved on but my people have refused to let go. Are they hypnotized? They now support every evil man as long as he is against Buhari and hate any good man that supports Buhari. When will this foolishness stop. We have a duty to stop this madness now otherwise these groups of characters will continue to disgrace and shame the smart, quiet but majority Igbo people like they did and continue to do with IPOB. Silence is not golden now. Remember that stupidity thrives when the smart ones say or do nothing. Over to you... [/s] |

It's very silly and dishonest to assert that "Malaysia has the same ethnic configuration like Nigeria". That's a pure error that's clearly contracdicted by your own data. 1) In your data for Malaysia, over half of the entire population are Malays (one ethnic group) 2) In Nigeria, even if you combine two of the largest ethnic groups they are not up to half of the entire population. But mind you, the thing is that Nigeria has 3 huge ethnic nations that are closely the same in size, hence the term tripod. (Spoiler: There is absolutely NO OTHER country like this on earth today - everyone of them has disintegrated into smaller units). 3) Your data shows that Malaysia is over 61% Muslim whilst the next religious group was less than 20% ( So, much more than half of the entire population belong to one religious group) 4) In Nigeria, Muslims and Christians have virtually equal population ( thereby constituting two huge opposing ideologies, unlike in Malaysia). So, the data show that Malaysia is way more homogenious than Nigeria. Thus it is plainly mischeivous to assert that the two countries have "the same ethnic configurations". Dear people of God, Malaysia is a country of an estimated 30 million people, per capita income estimate in 2018 is $30,430, estimated export in 2017 was $175.7 billion and economic growth in 2017 was 5.9%. The country is only 3 years older than Nigeria and was equally a British territory. Malaysia has the same ethnic configuration like Nigeria. It is made up 60 ethnic groups, constituting of 54% Malays, 25% Chinese, 8% Indians and 12% indigenous groups. There are equally diverse religions practiced. Muslims constitute 61.3%, Buddhists 19.8%, Christians 9.2%, Hunduists 6.3% and traditional Chinese religions 1.3%. |

For those with little data - Herr you go: 00:12 So what I'm doing is a thought experiment. Now you may know of or have read this book by this guy. It's probably the first and maybe the only bestseller ever written about economics. And you probably know a bit about what it says. It talks about how nations all over the world will prosper through the individual pursuit of individual profit. Individual profit will be the mechanism for the prosperity of the world. But the funny thing about Adam Smith is that he was a stay-at-home kind of guy. He actually never went further from Edinburgh than France and Switzerland. So my thought experiment is to imagine what would have happened if Adam Smith had visited Africa.
01:10 And fortunately, there's actually an easy answer, because the Arab lawyer and traveler Ibn Battuta traveled down the east coast of Africa in the 14th century, and what he found when he got to Mogadishu was a market, and he wrote about it. And basically, merchant ships came to the harbor, and they weren't even allowed to land. They had to drop anchor in the harbor, and boats came out to them, and locals picked them and said, "You are my guest, I am now your broker." And they had to do business through the local broker, and if they went around that and didn't do business through the broker, they could go to court, and the deal would be canceled, and they would be thrown out of town. And through this mechanism, everyone prospered.
02:03 And so if that was Adam Smith, he might look like this guy and say, "Ah! That's a mutual aid society. That's a share-the-wealth free market." And when I put this question to Christian [Benimana], who had the stage at the beginning of this session, he responded that if Adam Smith had come to Africa, there would have been a sharing economy long before Airbnb and Uber. And that's true. So if we put this to work today, it would be very interesting. There would be a lot of money flowing into the countries. These are just figures of 10 percent of exports in these countries.
02:41 So the interesting thing is that this mutual aid economy still exists, and we can find examples of it in the strangest places. So, this is Alaba International Market. It's the largest electronics market in West Africa. It's 10,000 merchants, they do about four billion dollars of turnover every year. And they say they are ardent apostles of Adam Smith: competition is great, we're all in it individually, government doesn't help us. But the interesting reality is that when I asked further, that's not what grew the market at all. There's a behind-the-scenes principle that enables this market to grow. And they do claim -- you know, this is an interesting juxtaposition of the King James Bible and "How To Sell Yourself." That's what they say is their message. But in reality, this market is governed by a sharing principle. Every merchant, when you ask them, "How did you get started in global trade?" they say, "Well, when my master settled me." And when I finally got it into my head to ask, "What is this 'settling?'" it turns out that when you've done your apprenticeship with someone you work for, they are required -- required -- to set you up in business. That means paying your rent for two or three years and giving you a cash infusion so you can go out in the world and start trading. That's locally generated venture capital. Right? And I can say with almost certainty that the Igbo apprenticeship system that governs Alaba International Market is the largest business incubator platform in the world.
04:26 And there are other sharing economies that we look for -- merry-go-rounds, which are found in almost every shantytown. They have different names in other cultures; this is the Kenyan name. It's a way of generating cash. It's a kitty -- people throw money into a pot once a week, and once a week, one member of the group gets the money, and they can spend it on whatever they need to.
04:46 And there's also something called "acequias," and that is a Spanish word, but it comes from the North African Arabic; "saqiya" means "water wheel." And what the acequia is is a sharing system for scarce water. It's migrated from North Africa to Spain, and from Spain to the west of the United States, where it still is used. And it shares water by need rather than by who was there first. And contrary, with all due respect, to what Llew [Claasen] said when he talked about blockchains and cryptocurrencies yesterday, there is no tragedy of the commons. People in acequias have been commonly managing scarce water resources for hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of years.
05:36 So taking this thought experiment, I wanted to go a little bit further and suggest that these things are managed communally, and they are taking care of scarce capital, scarce cash and scarce resources. And it seems to me that we have actually two kinds of capitalism. We have the capitalism of the top up. And these are really interesting statistics, because three one-thousandths of one percent of the Nigerian population controls wealth equal to one-fourth of the GDP of the country. One one-hundredth of one percent of the Kenyan population controls wealth equal to 75 percent of the GDP of the country. That's the capitalism of top up. And everyone else is with this guy, selling board games and bodybuilding equipment in a go-slow on the highway in Lagos. And when you're selling board games and bodybuilding equipment in a go-slow, that traffic jam is really, really, really bad, right?
06:51 Those of us in this sphere of the economy are caught in what I call "the capitalism of decay," because there's no way to rise up and get out of it, because they're lacking the resources that we talked about in those sharing economies. And they're tripped up by the thesis of cassava and capitalism, that cassava has to be processed in order not to be poisonous, and I would argue that, similarly, the market economy needs to be processed in order to be fair to everyone.
07:28 So we have to look at what I call the "bottom down economy." These are these sharing models that exist out there that need to be propagated and used and scaled. OK? And if we propagate these things, we can begin to bring infrastructure to everyone, and that will ensure that communities are leading their own development, which is, I believe, what we need in the world, and, I would suggest, what we need in Africa.
08:01 I wanted to quote Steve Biko, and I thought it was really important to quote Steve Biko, because next month, September 12 to be exact, is the 40th anniversary of his murder by the South African state. And you can read the quote. He basically said that we're not here to compete. And I love this quote: "... to make us a community of brothers and sisters jointly involved in the quest for a composite answer to the varied problems of life." And he also said that "the great powers of the world have done wonders in giving us an industrial and military look, ..." and we don't have to copy that military-industrialist complex, because Africa can do things differently and restore the humanity of the world.
08:51 And so what I want to suggest here is that we have an opportunity, that we are all here in the mutual landscape to be able to do things, and that the journey starts now.
09:09 Thank you very much.
09:10 (Applause) Well, do not be fooled by the economic and social collectivism of the igbos. That culture is way more complex than you can imagine. Behind that seemingly extraordinray collectivism lies a firecely thriving individualism and a huge sense of personal liberty. Igbos are no socialists/communists. Be guided. |

[s] Masterclass32: A group, the Yoruba Ronu Leadership Forum, has urged the Igbo to support the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari.
It said the Southeast would fare better with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in power.
The group said while the Igbo made a political “mistake” in the past, it must avoid a repeat in 2019.
Yoruba Ronu, in a statement by its Secretary General Akin Malaolu, said President Buhari deserves the support of the Igbo because of his integrity.
It said the President has ensured that development spreads across Nigeria, including Igboland.
“The Igbo must hold the present leadership in high esteem because of his probity and requisite caliber.
“The government today and with its present leadership has modernised the rudiments of administration and has departed completely from the attitude of ‘we’ as against ‘others’.
“Developments are today springing up everywhere in the Igboland and that must not be discouraged. The nation needs the Igbo people just as the Igbo also need Nigeria completely,” it said.
The group urged the Igbo not to repeat what it called the mistake of the past when it voted massively for Dr Goodluck Jonathan.
“The Igbos made some bad moves during the Jonathan era of ugly opportunism that gave rise to division both from religion and tribe. All of these must be forgotten and we must make Igbos partners in all affairs of Government at the centre.
“Igbo people must do well to accommodate our differences in diversity. They must play politics with obvious intention to contribute to the growth of first the Igboland and secondly Nigeria.
“The prosperity enjoyed by the Igbos in their participation in previous administrations shows clearly to be individualistic in nature and not generally for Igboland as compared to today.
“2019 is around the corner and we feel it necessary to plead to the Igbos that the APC has enough space and heart to give the Igbo people equality and respect which they rightfully deserve.
“It is only in APC that the Igbo prosperity can be enriched with comfortable speed. Igbos should come on board the APC train and take their rightful positions in the affairs of our nation.”

How do you uphold a constitution when you don't have one? Nigeria has been in a very intense Constitutional Crisis for over 50 years. Unfortunately, NO ONE SEEM TO BE TALKING ABOUT IT. My dear, what you are calling people to uphold is not a constitution. spartan117: The theft of the Senate mace signified the loss of authority of an arm of government to thugs. It's not just an ordinary stick that was stolen, this 'stick' represented the authority of government to make laws. To reclaim back that lost authority, everyone that was culpable in that act must be charged with treason and they must face the ultimate punishment, death.
We cannot keep floundering the laws and the Constitution of the country, all it leads to is anarchy.
The plain truth is that we are headed to a civil war there is no point sugar coating it we can't keep deceiving ourselves.
Whether you are a Buhari supporter like buhariguy, cilicmarin, sarrki or against like tonyebarcanister, crownwealth or me, or you are just a plain 'sociopath' like nwaamikpe, you should agree that the Constitution of our country must be upheld always to avoid us going down the same path as Rwanda and tripoli, as well as our ancestors in 1966. |

Nigeria is leading three major African countries in foreign reserves as at Monday, May 7, 2018, as the country's gross earnings hit $47.80 billion, according to data seen by Business Insider Sub-Saharan African from the nation's central bank.
Nigeria, which recently emerged from its worst economic recession in over 25 years with less than $21 billion in foreign reserves, has built up its reserves massively over one and half years to become largest in Africa by beating South Africa, Ghana, and Kenya in external reserves with total net reserves of $47,804,549,761.

Ghana's reserves declined to $6.9 billion in April 2018

Doyin Okupe, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has made what he called 15 revelations about the Second Niger Bridge.
In a message he entitled “GEJ, Buhari & The People,” Okupe wrote:
[1] The Bridge is NOT Being Constructed by the FGN.
[2] It’s a PPP Project which the FGN contributes a tiny fraction.
[3] The 2nd Niger Bridge Will Cost about N117 billion.
[4] Started in 2013 and should have been completed in 2017, but worked stopped for 31 months. Completion date Not certain now.
[5] FGN share of the Cost is N30billion. Jonathan through the Sure-P paid N21.2billion (71%) including N7billion for the completion of preparatory work (Phase 1).
[6] 38% of the work has been done as at Jan 2015.
[7] The N140b Oshiomhole said was wasted on Admin cost on the bridge was a lie, as admin cost will not be higher the to cost of the whole project.
[8] Buhari’s Govt Paid N2billion NOT $2billion as Osinbajo said during the Anambra state election. They will be paying another N3.05 when 2018 budget is approved.
[9] Work has restarted in earnest at the site and about 5%-7% has been completed bring the total completed work to about 43% to 45% according to an engineer I spoke to.
[10] All the pictures flying all over the internet are pictures of work-in-progress made during the 1st quarter of 2015.
[11] In summary Jonathan Govt have paid 71% of FGN share of the cost, While Buhari’s govt has paid 6.1%.
[12] Julius Berger, the Major Contractor and Construction company will put Toll Gate on Completion of the Bridge to cover their cost.
[13] The Construction Company is Funding the Project and the People using the Bridge will bear the cost via Toll Charges.
[14] The real People building the Bride are Nigerians that will use the Bridge, as they will REPAY the cost to Julius Berger.
[15] For those celebrating Politicians and sharing old or fake pictures of 2nd Niger Bridge, the #Facts are Not on your side.

Jewish Birth and Judaism are TWO DIFFERENT things. One is a race/ethnicity whilst the other is a religion. Got it? Finally, the modern definition of Jewishness is pretty controversial. So you don't really want to get into that rabbit hole. kitaatita: According to halakha, a Jew by birth must be born to a Jewish mother. Halakha states that the acceptance of the principles and practices of Judaism does not make a person a Jew. But, those born Jewish do not lose that status because they cease to be observant Jews, even if they adopt the practices of another religion.

Rather than using the Common Wealth Forum to promote the positive ingenuity of many Nigerian youths, you chose to squander the global attention on their negative part. For what reason exactly? As an ex head of state, and federal minister, how many northern youths did you give scholarships? How many of them did you employ in your own business or other means of production? Do you even have any sustainable means of production at 75? Has there ever been any foundation or social intervention programme that can be attributed to your name? The answer to all these questions is NO. No wonder you cannot help but paint others black. You think it makes you look like a better person. That's why you keep complaining about everything and blaming everybody but never yourself. I'm.not surprised though. Many of us knew that your rise would mean the decline of national reputation and opportunities. I only hope that the 15 million deluded folks (less than 10% of the population) who brought you to undeserved power are enjoying the change now. |

1. Your digression to "only ardent proponent of one Nigeria" is an invalid counter argument to the fact that there were more than one PRE-independence massacres in Nigeria. 2. A time came when the habitually slaughtered group said enough is enough and rejected the oneness. But what happened thereafter? Did the rejection of one Nigeria stop the killings? No, in fat, it emboldened the killers to carry out a three-year long state sponsored genocide. It's more than 50 years now, yet the killings are getting worse. But, for some very silly reasons, some idiots are still here blaming it on the choices that a few individuals made over 50 years ago. 3. The contestant in question was both fully resident in the west and had more stakes and investment in the west than the majority of the other westerners did in those days. He merely contested an election. He did not do anything illegal. If he was unqualified, all the people needed to do was to peacefully refuse him their votes. Why should that be a problem if not for the inherent evil in your collective psyche? T9ksy: @ BOLDED .........It's interesting that the same victims of these two ethno-religious slaughters were the ONLY ardent proponents of One nigeria, though it was clear even then, that their decision was not borne out of love for their killers but pure GREED.
The relationship between the 3 main regions at the time was not conducive for such a notion. we might have been living in the same country but not as BROTHERS but rather as fierce rivals so why then would one aspire to be placed in charge of his rivals' affairs if not out of sheer mischievousness. |
