Jobs/VacanciesRe: Doctor Shares Experience With An Employer In Abuja, rejects N70K salary by Krucifax(m): 8:19am On Apr 30, 2019

He should have accepted it for a start. Work diligently for three months and look for something better. Approach the CMD for a raise and if he doesn't agree, he can resign. Some relationships are not meant to be destroyed.

I accepted a salary of 615 k once even if it was low and unacceptable by my standard. I did it as a sacrifice for three months and also out of loyalty to the person. I switched to something that pays 808 k now after taxes.

When you are just starting, chase experience. Later when you have it, money would chase you.
You kids should really take it easy with telling of lies online.
Less than 1% of Nigerians in the whole of Nigeria earn over N800K. Unless of course you meant N800K per annum/year.

If what you are saying is true it means you are earning more than all the following people using their official salaries only.
1.All directors of ministries
2.All permanent secretaries of all ministries.
3. All ministers of all ministries.
4. All senators of the Senate.
5 . All house of Representatives members.
6. All police commissioners.
7. All generals.
8. The vice president of Nigeria.
9. Finally if you are earning N808k per month salary as you'd have us believe it means you are officially earning more than Muhammadu Buhari the president of Nigeria whose official salary is N291K per month and N3.5 Million per annum.

The reality is that most doctors in private hospitals earn between 70 ~ 110k in the first 5 years of practice pre specialization in Nigeria.
You are the first person to make a comment with sense in it on this post.
60 -70% of people posting are unemployed.
80-90% of the remaining are not earning up to N70k per month.
People like to talk big but their realities are very different.

Kaduna was a Buhari voting state. From recent comments on here I doubt there'll be any sympathy from fellow Nigerians.
Maybe it's part of the whole next level thing and Buhari did say the next four years will be tough.
It's scary though.

There is no rule to interview questions.

Just be confident and know your onion.
I used to tell people, if you have good knowledge on your field and it is backed with good experience. You don't need to convince any interviewer with grammar. Just tell them your value and they will chase after you.
That is sooooo not true. Good experience and knowledge will only help with 30 percent of the interview. And if that is all you are relying on your interview will be a disaster.
An interview is a sales pitch from you to the prospective employer.
You have to prepare and do research because a lot of questions are not about knowledge or experience.
They test other things sometimes very abstract.
You need to plan, prepare, practise. To that effect the OP points are very useful.
I have over 20 years work experience in both Nigeria and Europe in different disciplines . So I can tell you first hand what the reality is.

PoliticsRe: Afcta: Senator Sani Speaks On Buhari’s Refusal To Sign Agreement by Krucifax(m): 8:36am On Oct 15, 2018
The AFCTA idea like all grand ideas has pros and cons.
It will greatly benefit traders and businesses. It could also cause businesses to go bust.
Essentially the agreement allows free trade via the removal of trade barriers between African countries that are signatories to it.

The challenges are immediately apparent. Many Nigerian companies will immediately start competing with other African companies that trade in the same goods or services as they enter Nigeria whose population makes it the juiciest market in all of Africa.
If a foreign company is then able to offer better goods and services or better prices than the Nigerian company that's the end for that Nigerian company.

Also other companies that previously had monopolies will.now have to sit up and become efficient or be forced out.

The populace and the wider Nigerian public will benefit as companies will be forced to improve to survive as other players enter the market. This normally means better prices and services for the public.

Nigerian businesses on the other hand will find it a major shock to the system and I predict many going bust due to a culture of incompetence, complacency and poor service records.
Only those willing to adapt will survive. This might be the reason behind the President's reluctance. Also there'll be major pressure from captains of industry and those with monopolies like Dangote. Bribes and arm twisting will be going on the background.
As the agreement will expose companies that are not well set up.
Car TalkRe: Young Man Thrills Ladies With His “Customised Vehicle” In Enugu. Photos by Krucifax(m): 7:46pm On Oct 08, 2018
This generation of young Nigerians are actually doomed. Even our parents that fought and killed each other in the Nigerian Civil War do not have this level of contempt for each other.
These young generation is truly lost. There's hardly a post on Nairaland that does not degenerate into tribal and religious bashing. Igbo vs Yoruba. Christian vs Muslim.

What you youngsters don't understand is that you will live and then die but life will go on. The country and its problems were there before you were born and will be there after you've left this realm.
Tribal fighting absolutely achieves nothing. It's like mas.turbation. Temporary elation about a false achievement, after which your life goes back to exactly how it was before you started tribal bashing.

To the moderators of this site I'd say this, tolerance of tribalism and bigotry is part of why Nairaland hasn't achieved its potential. There are many online platforms launched after Nairaland that have done IPOs and secured major funding and even branched into other profitable ventures.
Whilst Nairaland has traffic volume it does not have turn arounds partly because of the rubbish that goes on. It's as much as a hate platform as it is an information platform. An investor after 5 mins on here will assume it is tolerated (which it is) and promoted even.
It's not free speech it's hate speech. That's why Twitter,Facebook and Instagram have started banning and closing accounts. A reputable company will be very hesitant to be associated with such a thing.

Thanks for the insights.

Is cold really that bad!

Cant one invest or build houses and rent out like we do here? That's with respect to state pension and what do you mean by it being poverty in old age?
Regarding your first question about Cold.
It is very very very very bad. To put in perspective when last did you hear that a large number of people died of heat in Nigeria? Now here in Europe it's a normal thing for people to routinely die of cold weather EVERY year. Although the majority of deaths are old and infirm people.

Basically at the start of the winter season if you go to any hospital or chemist, you will see them advertising health campaigns to remind people to get something called a "flu shot". This is a yearly thing,it's like an inoculation against catching the flu due to cold.
If you fall asleep outside during a harsh winter day there are high chances you will not wake up. Many homeless people die like that every year over here.
During harsh winter days if you go outside without gloves,a hat or thermals you'll start to feel pain in your finger tips and they'll also feel numb. Also your ear lobes will feel like there's someone sticking pins at the top of your ear. Not considering things like cough and catarh because those are normal in winter for everyone.

Regarding your second question.
It's very rare to see anyone "building" a house abroad. 99.9% of people buy houses via mortgage. They'll only give you this after an affordability and income test and credit check. You also have to leave a sizeable deposit.

Regarding your third question.
I can only speak for where I live at the moment. The government coffers are pretty tight currently. We also have a conservative government who are pretty harsh. As such pension payments are very meagre. On top of that they are gradually increasing the retirement age.
Meaning you'll have to wait longer before retiring and claiming your pension.
This presents unique problems for people of colour.
Number one it means statistically some people will not get to receive any of their pension before they die as they increase the age. Meaning they've saved money.
Number two it means for many people they will still legally be of working age but unable to find work because of age discrimination (employers thinking they're too old)but also they can not claim pension (because gov't says they're not old enough).

Now through into this mix that it's hard enough to find work as a young, fit, able and educated black person.
Imagine how hard it'll be to look for work in your 60s as a black man or woman against younger natives.

You might say well find a job and don't leave. Well they have that covered too. There's something called seasonal company restructuring. Most companies here in Europe restructure either departments or the whole company every so often. This to save cost, meet changing technology or legislation amongst many other reasons. During these exercises they normally get rid of staff they consider dead weight.
It works like this, a department with 10 staff currently will be restructured. All roles will be terminated and instead of 10 roles being recreated they'll make it 7 roles in the new structure. Now everyone has to reapply for their jobs! No matter what happens 3 people will be made redundant.
This is one of the ways they respectfully and in a civilised manner show you the door.

In summary you have to plan ahead. Many of us abroad already know this.

So what do u like abt nigeria despite the ills?
If you want me to be honest it's really about thinking about the future. .
1. I'm really not made for the cold. I can never get used to it.
2. State pension over here means confirmed poverty in old age for the unprepared.
3. There is more potential in Nigeria if you have the funds.
4. It's easier for people like me due to the exchange rate and my foreign currency that's the simple truth.
5. I have more family and friends in Nigeria.

Countries I've been to include:
U.S
Canada
France
Germany
Holland
Thailand
Ghana
A few other countries( via transit so doesn't count)
U.K where I live currently and Naija (Obviously).

Generally what most people have already said is true. Nigeria is generally speaking the worse location of all of them. There's no denying or lying about it.
Nigeria is in most considerations of comparison just worse. And it's not just Nigeria but Nigerians.
It's hard to explain till you have travelled and spent at least 1 month abroad.

Nigerians are very different from most human beings on the planet. Most of our qualities are negative ones. That's why most people are wary of Nigerians.
What we do have is strong will, resilience and toughness. We are also very ambitious people. The only problem is that the ambition is chased by most to the detriment of others and their environment.

To put it another way 90% of the world's population would refuse to come and live in Nigeria if given the opportunity. While I'll argue that 90% of Nigerians would leave Nigeria if given the opportunity.

Having said all that though I speak from a position of previlege having been born in the UK myself. I appreciate not every family have the opportunity. If that is the case I'd say do your best and work hard.
Find a skill set or trade that isn't entirely dependent on government or employer support and slowly build yourself.
Despite all the flaws ,I still want to return to Nigeria and even have property back home. Because home is where the heart is despite all the dollars or pounds. That's something only time and experience can teach you.
HealthRe: Antibiotics Can Hurt Your Health If Not Properly Used by Krucifax(m): 9:10pm On Sep 26, 2018
dominique:
Some people use antibiotics for almost every ailment including flu and malaria. Antibiotics should not be used anyhow, but our people will not hear.
Your are right. But it's because of a lack of awareness and failure of the Ministry of Health and government to highlight the dangers and enforce policies that prevent abuse.
When I lived in Nigeria every tom, dick and harry can go to a pharmacy to buy antibiotics. When I moved to Europe I realised I couldn't. That antibiotics can only be prescribed by a doctor.
Even the doctors here are very reluctant to prescribe antibiotics .Not so much for the immunity depletion mentioned in the original post but because microbes in your body when exposed to heavy doses of a particular type of antibiotics start to adapt and become immune to the antibiotics. This essentially makes that particular type of antibiotics ineffective in your own body when targeting that particular strain of microbes . Nature is crazy!

I shall make you regret the day you quoted me, you'll curse your mother for birthing you. You son of a wretched man. Descendant of a cursed tribe. How can a 40 year old be so daft? This one pass me.

Btw... how does it feel to be squashed by someone younger than you. Must hurt so much that when you see this, you'll start punching keypad again like a rabid dog. Oloriburuku. Asiwere.

P.S- how are your classes going? Is your sister still locked up yet? Don't attempt to miss any session lest you run mad like she.

It's not you fault though. People like you are products of failed parenting. oluwaseyi000:
Bros, thumb up for your advice, but about the social media part: you mean she should open instagram and facebook page for doughnut?
Oh absolutely. It's free marketing. It creates awareness for her business far and wide to potential customers even better than a shop( in the beginning).
Consider this,if you open a shop on a road how many people will pass that road.
Of those passing how many will look at the shop.
Of those looking how many will stop.
Of those stopping how many will buy.
Of those buying how many will come back to buy.
All of the above still applies to a Social Media account but the difference is that thousands of more people will see the business online improving your odds for doing business.
Plus you won't have to pay commercial rents, trade taxes for premises, utility bills for premises etc.
Also and consider that most potential clients of a doughnut business like, hotels, schools, offices, business etc also have social media accounts.
She can connect and network with them on social media. She can business pitch and send them picture sample of her doughnuts . She can get their addresses, emails, contacts from social media.
It's an indispensable tool for any budding business in this day and age.

2. There's no shame in being yourself no matter the circumstance. Stop hiding behind your crappie keypad. Let go of your insecurities.
3. Give happiness a chance. I didn't fail you, your parents did.

If you respond let me know if it is AMAC or FCDA issued land.
Within an estate is compulsory not interested in stand alone land. I will also do a legal search with AGIS for my due diligence for anything offered before payment.Thanks.

Please I need help, I just started learning how to make snacks like doughnut and Meat pie from YouTube and I plan to distribute to people that will hawk and I plan to distribute to shops around me also,

Reason why I want to distribute it to hawk.. is because of my job.

I want to know if this business is lucrative... please if you are someone who knows much about this business please put me through.... how do I package them that would make them look attractive, what's the cost of production, how do I make profit?

This is my estimation:

Let assumed I have 3 hawks and 1 co-maker and we makes around 150 doughnut at the cost of #50 each, I will be making around #7500.
How achievable is this estimation,Please guru here should help me out.

Cc:Lalasticlala Mynd44
As with any "products" business the fundamentals are thesame.
1. Production. 2. Marketing. 3. Distribution.4. Logistics. 5. Sales.
1. First get an honest appraisal of how good your snacks are from a chef who has years of experience. You could pay one to sample your snacks. This is important as people normally never return to bad products.
2. If above is fine then open an Instagram and Facebook business page for your business.
3. The above is free marketing and hopefully sales.
4. You can Google search local, hotels, schools, event centres, offices etc. These are few but good leads for business.
5. In "my opinion" this should be your first starting point. As it keeps costs minimal(hawking etc).
6. As your brand hopefully expands and your market penetration increases then you can fork out expenses for hawking.
Either way you go good luck with your endeavour.

Another reference to prayers? That's why Nigeria has not moved forward because some of you are actually worse than your parents.
Since you believe in prayers do you ask God to heal you of being a bigot and child of hate? Or do you ask God to bless you then turn around to make hate speech online? Do you immediately see how that is illogical?
I am right to chastise you not because I'm older but because you're clearly wrong. Don't go about insulting other tribes even if you don't like them. It's not freedom of speech it's hate speech. There are consequences if you do it in public so why hide online and do it if you're not a coward. Whilst I have insulted you I have also given you some snippets of truth.

It's your type that eventually talks himself into trouble . You're claiming to want to have a civilised discussion. There are I.T,Business, Education, Property,Money,Investment etc threads on Nairaland where anyone can make an input. But no,you saw a thread about Igbos and decided you were going to get in and make fun about a whole tribe!
How are you guys bought up these days and what the hell is going in Nigeria?! You have no moral high ground because you have no point you have made. You basically started an insult and I picked you up about it.
As someone who has had a career both locally and abroad let me give some you free career start up advise. We all have biases religious, political, ideological etc. However if you ever hope to excel beyond your village you have to keep the bigotry and hatred down.
Luckily for you Nairaland is not like Facebook or LinkedIn where people can see the face, name and other details of the person making hate speech. Because one day you may go for a job interview, or business pitch or tender for a contract or apply for a loan. And that very day the decision maker may be someone from the tribe you enjoy insulting online and they may recognise you and that is how the path will close for you. Have your opinions but also have sense.

Another pained, wailing ipob clown. Still on the matter, what are you doing on a yoruba thread ehn? Small time now, you'll start shouting biafra up and down. Confused soul.
Look at this poor beast calling someone a clown...lol. It's not your fault though every riff raff in Nigeria is buying phones these days and suddenly believe they can now talk to anyone. Go and find a quiet place some where and sit down. You're clearly missing a brain cell or two. Don't know if you speak to your parents in that manner. Cretins.

Afterwards you want to promote a business abi....fellow nairalander please see this idiots promo below......he forgot to add that he's a tribalist in the advert. Please spread so that only his village people will patronize him and he won't see a penny from anyone else. Idiot!!

But he's right. What are you doing on a yoruba election discussions thread? Rascal much??
You have to win an award for the most stupid comment of the week. It is Nigerian politics regardless of the region anyone in the world is free to comment on the subject. Who appointed you gate man of the matter? The only thing that isn't anyone's business is your miserable personal life.

I believe you.

Afonja Muslim did that and ipob pigs will dance to the tune
Was your mother used and left by an IPOB member? Face your own issues and don't drag others into it. All these kids on Nairaland have neither training nor respect. If you speak like a fool then you will be responded to like a fool.
