mikeapollo:
Who told you the Igbo are the most travelling tribe? Don't confuse travel with desperation!
The Igbos just started traveling to West African countries like Ghana, Ivory Coast, etc in the last two decades or so. But Yoruba people have been there for more than hundred years! Yoruba don't just travel to sell only goods in the markets and streets to announce their physical presence ...they work as teachers in schools, nurses, university lecturers, doctors, lawyers, commercial drivers, agricultural workers, businessmen, accountants etc Go to Ghana, CIV, Togo, Senegal, Gambia, SA, London, US, S/Arabia, Kuwait. etc Yoruba people have been traveling long before the civil war. Igbo people started traveling desperately only after the civil war when the east became impoverished. But the igbos are more desperate and they can do anything, legitimate or criminal to make money even in a foreign country! That is the difference
You could have responded to the comment without starting that stupid Igbo vs Yoruba comparison. And to call a whole tribe desperate exposes you as not only foolish and disrespectful but also lacking in unbiased intellect. There are many other tribes in Nigeria who travel for both business, professional jobs and unfortunately crime.

Since you mentioned Igbos let me tell you about them. The Igbos have traditionally been known as entrepreneurial people even before the war you speak of. The Igbos have been known in history even before the advent of colonialism as merchants and business people and it's a trait that has been passed down the generations. The only difference between the Igbo traders and the Arab traders from hundreds of years ago was that the Arab traders travelled further. This was because the Arabs also had a religious agenda besides trading. On the other hand the Igbos were solely interested in turning a profit and not imposing their beliefs on other alien tribes.

So yes Igbos travel and they are very business minded and if more people were like that Nigeria would be less dependent on federal government allocation and more progressive.

Why una like punishment for dat London.

We were paying 650 in 2004 for a 2bedroom house in Plumstead. We jeje carried our bags and bought a a 3bedhouse with 580 mortgage. And life is gud.
That's a good 12 years past. I live in Abbey Wood in a 3bedhouse about 10mins walk from Plumstead High Street. That £650 you were paying won't even get you a studio flat now. Mortgages were easy then but now you need upwards of £60,000 for the cheapest deposits. It's not like one doesn't know what to do its the ability to do it that's difficult.

A younger me used to laugh at people who were in council properties as not smart but an older me now understands that they were actually smarter than me. I'm in private sector rent but would grab public sector housing if I can find it.
PropertiesRe: How Much Is Your House Rent by Krucifax(m): 9:24am On Apr 17, 2016
I'm jealous of all my Naija peeps the majority of rent prices except for Abuja and parts of Lagos are quite good. Although when you factor in salary sizes it's not so good.

My rent in London excluding council tax is £1400 per month x 12 months = £16,800 per year. In Naira @ N420 = £1 means my own rent is over 7 Million Naira per year. Bear in mind I live in a normal middle class area. If I lived in central London you will have to multiple this by at least 4 times.

I think it is very foolish and silly of people especially wailers to self-service and drool on this issue. When has the pdp led govt of then ever apologized for a black out despite the fact that electricity was epileptic and almost non existence despite billion of dollars invested on it through out the sixteen yearshuh

Now we have a govt that is not up to a year in office but has recorded a tremendous CHANGE, we have a govt that actually gives a damn by apologizing we de complain again.
May you also experience the type of Change Nigeria is experiencing at the moment. Say Amen if you are confident.

Let me take advantage this Up NEPA to do this breakdown now. Has anyone noticed that power supply has dropped drastically? My free beans has dropped drastically too. Lol. Had to buy one painter of brown beans today for N700.

Here we go:

NgeneFarms.com (domain + hosting) 4180
MyMainMarket.com (two years domain) 3,960
Electric cooker 1,800
Gallon 550
Rechargeable lamp 700
Tap head 500
OKPA 2,700
Bags of pure water 400
Beer 3,000
Transportation (Okada + Keke) 2,800
Recharge cards 3,500
Charity work 5,500
Shoes (for my bestmanship. Lol) 6,000
Wedding expenses (transport, feeding etc) 3,000
Beans (one painter) 700
Snacking and brunching 1,250
Miscellaneous 5,000

That's 45,540 right? I had to add some other expenses that I forgot to include in the previous breakdowns. E.g. NgeneFarms.com under agriculture. I've also used the big grammar "miscellaneous" to cover up some expenses and exigencies that I can never remember. Lol. These small spending here small spending there are definitely the hardest part of finances to keep track of.

So in grand total, that's:
Agbani business 151,580
+
Amurri business 87,080
+
Agriculture 2,500
+
Others 45,540
= N286,700

N300,000 - N286,700 = N13,300

Now, N13,300 + N15,000 (thanks to Uncle Ken and Uncle Krucifax) =N28,300

Oh my God! From N300,000 to N28,300. Business no easy o! Lol.
JohnNgene I can't claim someone else's contribution to your effort. It wasn't me who sent that money. I hadn't seen your reply to my message earlier so I haven't sent it yet. But I'm in front of my laptop now and it should reach your account in a maximum of two hours. So reply this message with the account details and I'll get it done asap. Pls confirm as soon as you get it. Cheers .

PoliticsRe: See The 26 Foreign Trips President Muhammadu Buhari Has Made In 9 Months by Krucifax(m): 2:11am On Feb 23, 2016
Every President is expected to make presidential trips. That's understandable, however under the circumstances Nigeria finds itself this volume of travelling within this time frame is ill-advised. What a lot of people don't know is that we are on the cusp of a great economic crash unless something urgent is done.
Let me explain why our situation is an emergency
1: Price of Crude oil has fallen.
2: Per above our income has fallen and our foreign reserve too.
3: The last national budget was based on an oil price that's no longer existing meaning that a lot of things like roads, hospitals and other projects that would create employment and help the country can't be funded.
4: The demands for Crude oil have also reduced and Nigeria has thousands of barrels worth of oil stock back logged and unsold.
5: Per all above there's now a dollar scarcity that has meant many businesses are either operating below capacity or are planning to shut up shop this year.
6: Per point 5. Not all these businesses are importers!!. Some of them are in trouble because they secured external dollar based finance/loans and are now unable to pay back because they cant get dollars. This means their credit files are now damaged. Meaning also their survival as business is no longer guaranteed in the near future.
7: Per point 6. Many of these businesses will lay off their staff.
8: Per point 7. There be more unemployment this year.
9: Per point 8. There will be more crimes in Nigeria.
10: Per point 5,6,7, Failing business and more unemployment means far less money going to the banks and far less taxes going to government.
11: Per point 10. It becomes a vicious self perpetuating circle. These are very dire times. We are actually in a state of emergency but people don't actually understand it yet. By the end of this year dollar exchange rate would be the least of people's problems. As looking for what to eat would be foremost on their minds. May God help our dear country Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: Tompolo Properties, Can It Be Seized In Ijaw Land? by Krucifax(m): 5:31pm On Feb 20, 2016
Since "Ijaw Land" is still technically within Nigeria, it and all its inhabitants are still subject to the rule of law as prescribed by the Nigerian Judiciary. So yes both Tompolo and his properties can be seized by the law.
Secondly the youths of today should come away from all this "our land" business. Your elders tried it previously and civil war broke out that didn't benefit any side.
The youth have the benefit of hindsight not to repeat old mistakes. By all means retain and indulge in your respective cultures. But always remember you are a Nigerian. Working against Nigeria's peace is like setting fire to a room in a house and then running to another room for shelter. The fire will eventually visit you too.

Are you minding that poster. It's part of the reason I hardly engage people on this forum anymore. Infantile ignorance is rife. What he doesn't appreciate is that even the world's biggest economies are also some of the biggest importers. Everyone from the U.S to China import on a far larger scale than Nigeria. The irony is that as development increases so does the demands for the sustenance of the development. There is no nation in the history of modern economy that is able to meet all their demands locally.
BusinessRe: Many Companies Will Start Closing Shop Due To CBN Forex Policy – MAN by Krucifax(m): 12:06pm On Feb 20, 2016
Massive and large scale jobs cuts will be experienced this year it's inevitable.
The government is understandably rationing dollars because there isn't enough to go round.
However many businesses require the dollars to function. From Pharmaceutical companies that need chemical reagents not found in Nigeria to Factories that require equipment and parts also not found in Nigeria.
Before you ask these companies to patronise local products the local products have to be in existence.
It's a catch 22 situation. One that can only be addressed with astute fiscal and economic policies from people that actually know what they are doing. And this is my biggest worry for Nigeria.

Well, your assertion may not be so true about the class of degree discrimination.
I've applied to more than 500 jobs online with a CV always restructured, well-furnished and updated. Ye, no single invite.I've even veered off my field into some areas I consider can boost one's chances but dear, the same issue keep coming up.
To add up, I have a diploma in computer engineering, learnt HTML/JavaScript/CSS programming, HPLC/GC-MS/AAS analytical methods, and possess a first class degree.
Feb.14th will make it 2 years I did my POP,still in my parent's House.
So, my dear, God blessed you at the appointed time.
If all you said about your qualification is true then you are already a rich man in the making. Programming skills are some of the most sort after right now. I know Nigeria is a miss road country. You have two options. Based on your I.T skills you listed.Start an I.T company where you can offer web development and web design services in Nigeria. Second option try and get to the U.K or U.S. Hourly rate for a Web Developer on contract in London is between £21.80 - £28.80. That's N8,720 -N11,520 per hour!!!!!!!

I support a lot of the ideas of the Buhari government however a lot of the other ideas of this government is misguided. It would appear that an over emphasis is be put on this corruption witch hunt at the expense of substantive ideas on how to improve the lot of the common man.

Even after seizing this or arresting that. You still need to sit down and factualize how to create employment, stimulate the economy, improve infrastructure and guarantee security. This is what people who voted for "Change" want.

It's tiring and becoming boring that all Nigerians read in the papers about government these days is who they are chasing or who is in court. By all means punish the criminals but when are you actually going to do some governance? What has changed between the last government and the current government that has lead to the actual improvement of the life of the common man. I haven't seen anything can someone please tell us?

PoliticsRe: FG Responds To JP Morgan Delisting Of Nigeria From Bond Index by Krucifax(m): 12:47pm On Sep 09, 2015
I understand the decision of JP Morgan however I support the decision of the CBN.

JP Morgan an investment bank lists 1. Lack of liquidity. 2. Poor transparency 3. Forex uncertainty as their official reasons for delisting Nigerian government bonds.
However the biggest reason is "lack of liquidity". Understand that an investor's interest and the interests of the local economy are not always similar.

Liquidity means availability of cash/funds. If there is a lot of liquidity the value of the local currency drops. It also makes the assets of the local economy cheaper. This favours a foreign investor as his dollars gets more for less. However this does not favor the local people or economy as in effect they are losing value.

The decision of the CBN to implement currency controls is very good wisdom. It is to protect the currency from a damaging devaluation. There are obvious side effects but they are temporary as the CBN has to show foreigners we are not some fly spick African nation like Zimbabwe or Uganda who allowed foreign speculators to turn them into countries where you take a bag of money to buy a loaf of bread.
