OK oo.. They will soon clear road for us. Whao! Baby's sex is known already? Like say na me don know baby sex, I can't wait to know its sex so I can start shopping. Antenatal is in two weeks time, I hope baby will not hide o like the other mama's.

I'm fine, just on low key plus December mamas are not giving me ginger. They are dulling my spirit big time. Only very few people respond to roll call.
Honemoon phase is really fun o, infact this my pregnancy has been stress free from day one unlike the previous one. Only baby's kicks and bump remind me of the pregnancy. The only thing is I'm getting tired of anticipating the baby's arrival, December should just come so I can see this little being jumping around inside me.
I can't wait to start shopping too. I'm sure I'll be arranging and rearranging baby's things everytime

Fansidar was recommended at antenatal but the pharmacist gave me Swidar, she said they are same. Three tablets in a pack t be used at once.

Cappo,no more MS o but ulcer us showing me pepper. I feel this peppery sensation below my chest and at times it goes round the stomach. Moreso,scan keeps showing stress in my cervix so am confused. The latest scan changed my EDD to 22/12/2021 but let still leave the 25th.

Ministry is moving oo.. I thought they said second trimester is honeymoon period.. I have not seen honey talkless of moon ooo. Mad headache, palpitations and tiredness is the order of the day.. my appetite seem to have reduced.. Yes, pregnacare of expensive. Pregnacare plus the last time I checked is/was #7,100. I just kuku bought pregnacare original and omega-3 tablets since I noticed one of the differences is omega-3 and I didn't want to waste money bcs I might not take it. I was faithful with the pregnacare tho, but this pregmum, I just eye it anytime I see it.

I think any prenatal vitamin is okay, depending on what works for you. I used a whole pack of Pregnacare before but now just a sachet of pregmum I bought, I'm still battling with it bcs I hate it smell. I'm planning to go back to Pregnacare when I finally finish this pregmum. I take my drug at night, so I don't notice any effect of the drug.
Go for whichever one you can easily buy when you need it.

Fortunately for me, my MIL is open to new way of doing things because she said she as always questioned the old way of doing things albeit quietly.
For the navel massage, my mil does that after the cord falls off.
Here is her procedure:
1. She grind African nutmeg(eru), cloves(konafuru) & one other item I've forgotten it's name together.
2. She grinds them roughly, sprinkle water on it to make it damp then tie together in a piece of cloth, flatten the bottom of the cloth to form a base to sit comfortably on the lantern
3. When she's about to bathe the baby, she lit the lantern turn it to low/medium heat and place the tied cloth on it.
4. After bathing the baby, she applies the warm cloth on the navel, it gives a soothing and aromatic effect on the baby.
The key word is WARM so before using it on the baby always try it on yourself first.
Note: when you want to use it, sprinkle water on the base of the tied cloth so that it can absorb heat.

During the course of pregnancy I learnt and unlearn a lot of things which I'm applying now and I can see the difference.
1. Drugs - Almost every nursing mother has 'Ajogba', it is a bowl where baby meds such as antibiotics, multivitamin, pain reliever and others are kept. It's administered everyday not because the baby is ill but more like a preventive. I did this when I had my first baby.
Now I know better, if a baby is not ill no need pumping him/her with medication, it's called drug abuse. This is what I'm practicing now and so far we're good.
2. Cord - Some people apply all sorts on the cord so that it can fall off easily, as such infecting the area. When all that is actually needed is to clean the cord/navel with methylated spirit alone several times a day to prevent infection, the more you do that the cord dries off and fall. LOBATAN
I did this for my new baby and in no time cord falls off and the navel is closed.
3. Skincare - I've learnt that for a baby's skin less is more. Not necessarily about the brand name but how effective is it on your baby.
Coconut oil/Shea butter/Palm kernel oil does wonder on baby skin. Please find the one that suit your baby.
4. Powders - Now I know it's not compulsory to apply powder on babys' except when they have rashes.
5. For their bum - Blue seal, Ori, Coconut oil are good barrier cream/oil for baby. It prevents diaper rash as well.

Wow.. Wow.. I've really learnt a lot. I use to think those drugs (ajogba) were given or prescribed by doctors oo. Though, I read something about giving babies drugs on Fb, I read it isn't ideal or necessary but I've not confirmed that, but now I know better.
Concerning the cord thing, I see mothers using hot stone with towel on the baby's cord/navel, even my mum did that, at least I was a bit grown when she gave birth to our last born, there was that particular stone she put on stove then to 'massage' the navel with one menthol like that.
For the tiro and powder, I never liked the idea. I don't like seeing a baby with black eyes and full white/pink face in the name of 'moju'. Now I know better. I really appreciate the time you took to explain all these, I am more oriented now.
I hope MIL won't think I'm just naive when I try not to accept all these their traditional methods.

As regards skincare, I use the following for my baby:
1. Bathing - black soap (When I had my daughter 6yrz ago, I used one of this big brand baby skincare set and I don't like the effect on my baby)
2. Body cream - Jimpoori
3. Hair oil - Pears baby oil
4. Barrier cream for his buttocks - Jimpo ori, and till date there's no rash or any 'medemede' on his bum. Blue seal can also be used for this.

I've not experienced any skin troubles since 5/5 when he was born, skin so fresh and supple and several compliments as well.

I think with my little survey, many people prefer the ori, black soap, coconut oil thing. Maybe I should try that, lemme go the natural way, after all, it's less expensive and very effective. I thought people use one 'moju' powder for bum? And that black eye liner (tiro) people use for their babies, what's the usefulness pls? Did you use or are you using it too? Bcs I don't like that thing, I want to know if it's necessary or not.

1. It depends on what you want. Personally, I used the plastic wardrobe because I wanted something temporary since I have a wardrobe already. I just dismantle and pack up the plastic wardrobe till I need it again. As per durability it depends on usage and there are really nice beautiful baby wardrobes now made with board.

2. I use normal cloth line and if you have a washing machine that spins I don't think a baby hanger is important cos max your baby cloth stays on the line is about 10-15mins

3. I think all of the above is good, you can use any depending on your preference and your babys' skin reaction to it.
Also, I've come to realise that for baby's skin care less is more. Once you find what works for you, my sister stick to it.

4. Please buy a breast pump, as a matter of fact sef I think it should be made compulsory for expectant Mum to ensure that they breastfeed their baby well because it makes EBF easy.
Expressed milk can be stored, so while you're at work your baby will still drink breast milk.

1. For me, I use a wooden wardrobe. When I gave birth to my first child, I bought a plastic one but later changed and built a wooden wardrobe. I prefer the wooden wardrobe.
2. I use hanger for my baby clothes o. It lasts. Infact, I don't dry my baby's clothes outside.
3. I used more of Ori and coconut oil for my baby. Will maintain same for this baby. I hope to get original.
4. To me I feel breast pump is necessary. You never can tell. When I gave birth back in 2018, I could not lactate. Tried all I could. Hubby had to go buy a breast pump to help. In the interim, I started giving baby formula cos i couldn't afford to see her hungry. For some, they are lucky enough that breast milk comes without much stress. However, I will still advise you buy so that you can pump when you go to work. Some people even pump at work and refrigerate cos your breast begins to hurt if it's heavy and baby hasn't sucked for a while.

Pls I have few questions to ask about buying baby items.
1. Pls which type of baby wardrobe is better? Wooden or plastic? I have the wooden one in mind but majority of people I see around me here use plastic. At first I thought it was the price, but when I went for window shopping, I noticed d wooden one isn't as expensive. Pls which is more durable? Why do people prefer the plastic to the already-made wooden?

2. I need suggestion on baby hanger, why don't I see people buy baby hangers anymore? Is it that it doesn't last long or they just prefer to use the normal cloth line or they use washing machine to dry their baby clothes? Abi na my area people no like baby hanger?

3. Baby body care. Natural (ori, coconut oil, black soap, etc) abi oyinbo body care? Pls which is better?

4. Breast pump; is it so necessary? I'm planning EBF as those nurses are encouraging us to try it and mummy is saying she did it for me, I should do it too. Though still planning how to do that with work since I can't take baby to work.

Your baby started moving already but you've not noticed it. I started feeling baby's movements the first day I entered week 14, I was surprised bcs I'm a ftm and thought it was just my mind thinking so until the movements became regular and 'heavier' now. We'll be 19 weeks in two days time.
The movements were usually when I lie on my tummy to sleep at night, but now I feel it even when standing during the day. Just watch out, you will feel it soon!

I heard bitter kola isn't that safe. Someone said instead of chewing it, just bite a small piece in d month for saliva thou, I don't know of the metallic taste, I'm managing mine like that jare, I'm scared of all these 'dem say'.

Good morning cappo.We are fine o.How are you too.Feeling much better now. I do feel some movements once in a while though. I always watch my tummy with excitement whenever i have the feeling. Going to register for ante natal before the week runs out by God's Grace.
Shopping has not started yet o.Maybe from September.

We are fine too, just some laziness and metallic taste. I feel the movements only while lying down, DH can't wait to start seeing and feeling the movements too.
Sept is good but I hope heaviness and laziness will not disturb u then.

still dealing with MS and vomiting, started antenatal proper last week also had malaria 1+, completed my medication on saturday.
they removed folic acid for me, gave me fesolate and calcium. My elder sis is starting the shopping on wednesday, am not going to check gender as this is the first one, i want it to be a surprise.

Oh.. I see.. Team surprise. It's okay but curiosity will not allow me wait till then oo, except baby decides to 'hide identity'

All registered for antennal with next appointment for the end of this month. Taking my routine drugs faithfully, though the calcium and bcomplex is gross.
Shopping ke? Not yet sha, but have something in the works with mama Zayine and still have some of my daughter's hand me down.

That metallic taste is what I'm battling with now, it's so annoying!
Shopping isn't too early o.. The earlier the better.

Oh.. Sorry. I think the abdominal cramp is the stomach muscles loosening/stretching to accommodate d growing uterus.
Shopping can be done anytime, but I think it's best to shop before becoming heavy and lazy. I'm planning to shop after confirming gender so I can go for gender based colors of items or just buy gender neutral items as this is my first so other baby can use the items, but u know that feeling of having one 'dominate' color nursery...
