Anyway, I don't think mathematics is that crazy. Some of us actually find it fun.
I think it all depends on how your brain is wired.

lol.. I think the problem stems from the fact that most secondary schools in Nigeria have teachers who just cram topics,then come to class to deliver their lines without necessarily understanding what maths is really all about.

The moment our students begin to understand that math is a language, brain teaser, a way to interpret observations using numbers,things will change. But till then,this country will continue to remain mathematically backward and its really sad..

Let's assume mr X wrote the utme this year and scored 240. He then sat 4 the putme... Outta 90 questions in the putme he got 73 correct answers. His screening score becomes
73/90 * 100
0.8111 * 100
81% = screening score
.
Aggregate score becomes
81/2 = 40.5
240/8 = 30
aggregate = 40.5 + 30 = 70.5 = 71% approximately.

most of the people that say calculus is hard have never tried it. It's ridiculously simple and straightforward. Oral English on the other hand, is a wolf in rabbit's clothing.

Trust Nigerians na. We know how to stereotype everything. Before I ever did calculus,I heard no so encouraging stories about it not until I finally met the almighty calculus and was like ehen...

Well put. Oral English defies logic and has no pattern. And anything that defies logic,lacks pattern scares the shiit outta me.

calculus was my turning point.
I was shocked at the straightforwardness and fun that calculus held. I remember then, I would make up sixth order equations and differentiate them completely, only to integrate them back to life. I searched everywhere for unique equations I could find just to differentiate. From geometric formulas to statistics formulas. I didn't even care if my derivatives were useful or not. It was just so great.
Obviously, I soon got tired of calculus and began hunting for other topics that could give me the same dopamine rush calculus did, and that was how mathematics hooked me. The day I realized that the process was the most important thing. Not the final answer.

Cool. I love calculus too. I still dont know why people say its hard honestly.. I ll gladly take calculus over oral English anyday anytime. Calculus dey seriously learn for where oral English dey. Many ll disgree but its the truth.

If I travelled in time to my younger self and told him I he would love maths fervently in a few years, he would have shot me.

Lol.. There was this certain time I decided I ll study anything in the university even if its sweeping so far no math was involved.

My turning point was when i asked myself these 3 simple question 'how do you know if an equation is correct or wrong'? 'Why cant I just wake up from sleep and write an equation'? 'How are equations derived'? And that was when my eyes opened. The icing on the cake was when i realised math problems could also be solved logically even without equations in some cases..

What was your turning point?

Test was ok.

English looked verrrrry very simple and innocent but definitely had a bag of tricks up its sleeve cos all the questions were on rules of English. The one wey dey sweet for mouth na in dey be the wrong option.. Whoever set those questions is one smartass,trust me.. He/she knew what they did.. I told my friends that if what everyone scored in English is to be shown to them,more than half of who wrote will protest cos they wont believe it... lol

Physics was much more simpler than I expected sha.. They knew many of us would focus on calculations so they did what we least expected nd brought only few calculations.. Prior to the exam,I never gave theoretical questions any time but I was lucky to be familiar with the ones they set. I dont know if others were that lucky though but for competition's sake----I hope they weren't..

Chemistry.. I never liked that subject from day one,so I didn't even bother reading it atall. The plan was to pass English well,pass maths excellently,perform well in physics and that wull make up for the deficiency in chemistry. But as God would have it,I was lucky again. I think i knew most of the chemistry questions.

Maths.. Hmmmn. Na here God leave me all by myself..lol. The first weird question I saw was "The addition of the mean of numbers is"? It didn't even make sense to me,so I chose Undefined in the options.. The second one was on permutation and combination.

In how many ways can a committee of 3men and 2women be choosen from 5men and 4women. I solve am I no get the ans. I knew I knew it but due to pressure,I couldn't think straight. Omo na there tension start cos I just failed what I knew. The next questions which were on co-ordinate geometry and conc calculus didnt help matters either but after solving them,my confidence came back and I was now more settled. Went back to the permutation problem and got the answer. I nearly scream for hall..lol

The maths wasn't that hard sha but Uniben took us off guard with the pattern they chose. Totally different from previous years.. Dem set some questions wey be say you know the topic no mean say you fit solve am. .

There was this wicked question on arithmetic progression I will not be quick to forget in hurry. Where I got the inspiration from and got the answer still remains a mystery.. The ans was 2.. I no go everforget am.lol

Oh! How about that question on gradient which had radius of curvature.. I almost forgot the other one that made me so clueless,I chose A cos the number,which happened to be 8/3 appeared much more bigger and bolder than the rest, so i took it as a sign from God. Hehe

At the end,I ll say the maths was average. And I thank God for the paper in general. It was ok..

The above summarises(an irony shey) how my test went. And do find a place in your heart to forgive me for the epistle. I just dey test-run this keyboard wey I newly download. Vex not.

Well, I too havent read it either cos I prefer reading anything in hard copy to e-book format. I guess i am a little bit old fashioned in that aspect. No bookshop I know of has it yet,so ill just wait till the naira-dollar exchange rate becomes encouraging and order from ebay.

Out of 20 maths question na only one tricky probability question I see for my own sef. I no see the ans for the options,so I just choose the number wey fine for my eye. Lol...

The rest na co-ordinate geometry..surd..inequality...one deadly geometric progression question like dat and lots of calculus to last a generation... I no remember being given any kinectic energy question in physics sha. Maybe I don forget.
