Please, provide us links to the budget of your state in Igboland.

How many wheelbarrows have been commissioned as empowerment?
You jump about condemning Lagos but in your region, your Governors are building prison for children. You guys should look inwards and use your flat heads to think for once.
pls can you just stop?

What's the correlation of your response and what the person said ? Maybe he or she is in Lagos and pays taxes to the state which makes him or her even more qualified to complain about what he experiences in the state ...

The rulers have so much perfected and made the followers as slaves in this country with sentiments as religion, ethnicity or tribe.

Those cards the rulers play is what is making you refer to Eastern part of the country as if anyone that queries issues in Lagos is automatically an Igbo person or someone from the east ..

DrGoodman:
Thr superior officer is biased.

Why catching one single army man while all the others are openly collecting same bribes every hour on every Nigerian roads, and even giving change to motorists? All army checkpoints are nothing but toll gates and the main objective is to clect bribes.

This is why Nigeria will never prosper, maybe this soldier is not from his faith.
There is no biased there , is the Superior officer ICPC or other MDA to curb such ?

The only thing I see wrong here is this public prosecution or embarrassment ..... It's NOT necessary..

The corrupt soldier should have been.
Disciplined accordingly with a military approach and not social media

Journey mercy ,this is not the fault of government for those talking trash about the government, the driver of the train should be blamed ,who embarked on the journey without making sure he has enough diesel in his tank before making the journey, afterall this is train not a car u could refill on the way ,the management of the train station is solely to be blamed.
So who or what is Govt ?

Do you know how levels of responsibilities go?

I am sure you were one of those that believed in 2015 around August when there was steady electricity that attributed it to the BODY LANGUAGE of the president, whereas the man was ill until he had to leave for the UK in Feb of 2016..

Now , let me explain to you in the very basic thesis you might understand easily .... You would agree that the direction or manner the parents of a home acts is often reflected on the children , there are some homes that doesn't require the head to keep shouting or giving instructions on a daily basis ... Everyone has to fall in line , even in his absence , why because the structure has been created ...

That's how govt should be !

Now let me also draw your attention to the nature of man ..... If you give human being chance , they can decide to be killing fellow humans daily for breakfast ..... THIS IS THE ESSENCE OF GOVERNMENT .. to be able to enforce and instill laws ..

Let me believe you got this point .

You can not get a true valuation from Auction's final price as AI would not see below the hood. However there is an initial valuation of all cars b4 Auction, that's the Blue Book.Im a 100% sure this is what they will go with and its usually higher than final auction price.
Which points to the insensitivity of those in customs shouting ITS DEVOID OF HUMAN INTERFERENCE as if the database where the figures are sources wasn't inputed by humans ...

What baffles me in all these is that the CBN or customs do not seem to put into consideration lots of factors as SALVAGE brands and the cost of repairs for imported vehicles..

Based on the artificial intelligence they are noising about , we all know computer is garbage in garbage out .... The system interprets what it's directed to search , they should not assume everyone is stupid in this reagrd

If you input your VIN on Google and add valuation to it especially for cars 2004 up, you are likely to see results of ACV (actual cash value) and ERC (estimated repair cost) .. why is the artificial intelligence not queried to do such computations ?

A clean title vehicle is what seem to be considered by their systems whereas over 80% of vehicles imported to Nigeria are salvage ..

If it's uniformity and elimination of fraud they seek , they should make the valuation rates open enough for the public to know ,,as a matter of fact they know how to sanitize it ,

Exactly o! So I thought I did not hear the amount well too.
They told me that it is called compromised valuation. I believe those in the sector should be able to enlighten us more. The grouse is that customs is demanding N504 per usd and nothing is left for them and it makes imported cars too costly. I was slightly embarrassed and wanted to ask for how long this unfair system has been going on. That some folks get usd for 272 for this ridiculous reason of making cars affordable shocked

Well, it is now in the hands of cbn that actually fund the forex needs of the importers. customs abused processes a lot in this importation and exportation business.
I think what they collect is 35% of the cost or value of the vehicle which I think they call surface charge
The calculation is based on the official CBN dollar to naira rate ...

It doesn't make sense to alter that rate especially when the importer did not get the FX from CBN but had to source from the parallel market ..

There are port and terminal charges paid , all on one vehicle ... Just imagining the multiplier effect .

You see the main thing here is flagrant application of schemes of corruption in a different guise ..

What is difficult in the Nigeria customs to publish tye automobile duty rates on their websites ? As in making it clear and open to avoid these plenty noise ? That's where anticorruption ought to begin if you asked me
Politics › Re: Clearing Agents Ground Port Operations, Begin Indefinite Strike by kuntash: 5:23pm On Feb 28, 2022
FreeStuffsNG:
It is actually CBN that has stopped giving rebate on forex the importers use to bring in and clear cars.

I just learnt that there is actually subsidies on the payment for clearing cars so that cars are made affordable but the process has been massively abused and CBN is equally rationing its forex so it removed the rebate fueling the inefficiency.

Cars may become expensive to clear but it is not because price for clearing changed, it is because CBN can no longer be giving usd at 272 naira.
CBN giving USD @272 in what year pls , I suppose that's a typo ...

let me explain it you from an agent,"

If a car was supposed to pay 3million duty... U bribe customs with 700,000 and u pay 1.5miliion duty.

Even at that, patrol customs(FOU) extort money from u from 50,000 upwards on the road for the next few months or years.

But with the e-invoice, u get the 3million invoice and pay the correct duty.. No more bribes and settlement at the ports or on the road..

To me as a clearing agent, I will be loosing over 80% of what I normally see as profit cos of these bribes..

But as a Nigerian, for the greater good, its the best thing that can happen to customs issues cos the fraud too much.

NB.. This my explanation applies to car imports alone which is my area of specialisation.."
Cc: Modecai
There are some things that doesn't require too much explanation but rather simple logic even if you are not on the biz ...

Now I am sure you know it's possible to check the cost of purchase of vehicles overseas ... Used vehicles in particular .. GOOGLE IS YOUR PAL ..

A used Lexus ES 350 with salvage title for example sells for between 4.5k & 6k tax and charges inclusive ..
You would ship down to Lagos at an average of 1.5k

Which should sum it to like say 7k USD on the average ..

Note , the CBN or custom has not provided FX for importers for these purchase ... Black market for USD now is 580 , meaning the importer has spent like over 4m Naira to get his vehicle to Lagos ports

...ARE YOU NOW SUPPOSING 3M NAIRA SHOULD BE PAID FOR CLEARING ?

So what % of 4M naira is 1M Naira or 1.5M , or 0.75M ? Assuming that's the new rate if duty

Then compare with other parts of the world for salvage vehicles ...

Where are the mathematicians ? Pls help us out here ..

Like I said , information is within our reach online .. the ONLY thing not online is the Nigeria customs rates for duty ...this has been like a clandestine tactics to sheild so many things ..

The CBN or customs can make enough funds if they truly want to by only opening the modalities of payment , rates etc ...and it should show on their websites the vehicles cleared visavis the ships that berthed ....

That's a starting point for me ..

Romance › Re: Advice On How To Deal With My Ex-girlfriend Who Is Married by kuntash: 1:10pm On Feb 17, 2022
Mhistasaints:
Hello guys! I need a simple advice. I am a married man, my ex-girlfriend is also married. I've been married for 2years now and she got married 2months ago. When I got married, she told me she was disappointed at me, that why couldn't I come and beg her when she said no. She was the one that left me in the relationship telling me that her people say that I was too young and had nothing. I focused, achieved and got married at 23yrs.

Of late, she chatted me up and we discussed. She started being too intimate to the extent of trying to discussing her sexual marital life with me on her she doesn't like having sex with her husband. Few days ago, she started asking me for money. I am sensing something fishy.

What do I do?
Assuming this story is true , at 25 , it means you are really quite young to face some marriage blows ...

Now , ask yourself what you wouid loose if you cut her off ? From your explanation , I think it's Nothing ..

Now also consider if you sense your wife was the person in this situation ... Or if she had told you this ..

I suggest you cut her off completely and focus on your marriage ... If you wife trust you enough , discuss it with her and if she is the understanding type , she would help you grow in confidence on how to forget such ladies ..... No matter the emotion your ex is trying to create .... It would die off ...

Marriage involves serious commitment to one another, play your part diligently and pay your wife does same , focus on her and her alone , take off those things that cannot add value to your marriage .. and see how your enjoy the happiness in it ..

Wishing you all the best!

Lol

Na now day break ..

It's from top to bottom ,

- Govt officials living so large amidst lack and poverty.

-Celebrities or yeyebrities with no clear source of income showing enormous wealth on social media.

-Security outfits that would compromise an arrest of a fraudulent fellow .

- Bankers that would aid fraud directly or indirectly .

- irresponsible parenting and unplanned pregnancies

- Finally society that embraces ill gotten wealth or singing along people with unverifiable sources of income ....

Test the social media starting with Nairaland , when you read thru , it's easy to decipher the kind or people that are more and active especially on posts that has to do with celebration of wealth of people that can't be verified .... Yes , thats part of the problem ... You would hear things like THE VANITY CREW WOULD SOON ARRIVE etc ....

Fact remains , we are in for a long thing as a nation because in a bid to measure up , people are getting so desperate by the day ....

They don't care how the money comes , the love and crave for it is so powerful ...

No artisans anymore , hardly before he hear any youth talking about a legit hustle as originally known ...

Indeed it's quite worrisome ..
