A file photo of Bianca Onoh ( as she then was), who celebrates today, the anniversary of her first ever beauty contest victory , MISS MARTINI which she won decades ago while in her late teens as a college student in England. Encouraged by her pals, She had entered this contest , not quite optimistic of success and was on her way out of the venue…almost at the door…when she was announced the winner.

The star prize was a year’s modeling contract in Japan, a modest cash prize and the chance to appear in a glitzy television commercial for the Martini Rossi Brand, a dream she had nursed through her teenage years. Finally it had come true.
However, Being a student , with her final exams just a few months away, she had to make the tough decision to forgo the Modeling contract in Tokyo, Japan and by extension, the television Ad as both were linked. She ended up with a token cash prize, deeply saddened by the thought that she had possibly missed the opportunity of a lifetime.

Several years later, in 1988, she was presented with another opportunity to take part in another pageant, the MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRL IN NIGERIA Pageant. (MBGN), which she won. From then on, she on to win Miss Africa ( In Banjul), Miss Drushbah (Russia ), and became the first African to win the Miss Intercontinental Beauty Pageant, as well as Nigeria’s Queen for Miss Universe and Miss World pageants. These wins also earned her several endorsements and numerous print and television ads for beauty and lifestyle brands.

The rest is history.
Bianca Onoh who graduated as a Lawyer later married the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu and they had three children . She went on to become a businesswoman,Presidential Advisor, Ambassador to Ghana and later to Spain amongst other National and State assignments.

She already had anything she wanted. She was a National and an international beauty pageant winner with many commercial endorsements and advertisements. She was all over the TV screens those days for commercials for hair prod, cosmetics, etc. She was made before she met Ojukwu not to mention the daughter of a billionaire who was also a former state governor.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance held its Annual National Retreat yesterday and it’s roll call and attendance was a far cry from the situation in times past. The event took place yesterday at Abuja with most of the party members, Board Of Trustees members and even the National Leader Of the Party and Governor Of Anambra State Chief Willie Obiano noticeably absent .

Feelers emanating from party Stakeholders indicate that the scant attendance may be as a result of the widespread anger of party members towards the Party Chairman, Chief Victor Oye who has been accused of acts bordering on Impunity which has resulted in multiple court cases against him and the party’s National Working Committee.

At the same Retreat, the Chairman announced that the entire Executive Committee Of the Party in Imo State has been suspended for misconduct and that all party members that had taken the Party to court have been expelled from the party with immediate effect.

The governor of Anambra State Willie Obiano who was recently relieved of his role as the BOT Chairman of his party APGA during the just concluded National Executive Council meeting of the Party has embarked on a begging spree to be reappointed in the same capacity during the party’s National Convention scheduled to hold 31st March 2019.
The embattled governor, it was learnt, has been running from pillar to post calling delegates on phone and imploring them to return him as the Chairman, Board Of Trustees whilst also enticing them with cash gifts and promises of lucrative state contracts.
APGA has been embroiled in a series of crises within the party as a result of their party primaries which has pitched the majority of the party members firmly against the imposition of the incumbent party chairman chief Victor Oye for a second four year tenure.
