Not really true.
Somebody applied for Study Permit in April 2018, he was refused in May 2018 and re-applied in on the 7th July, 2018. He was charged for another $85 biometric fee.
CIC will not lie on their own website. The biometrics thingy will come into effect starting from 31st July, 2018.

Just calm down, US is not Nigeria. Everything is wrong with Nigeria but we are fairly lucky cases of Incurable STIs are not rampant. Have you heard of herpes? More than 3million cases happen in the US per year and its not curable. Once you get it, its over. You should read more about it maybe that will guide you. Herpes could be oral or genital, oral could be contacted through just by kissing. Many beautiful ladies with kardashian body have this and its not written on the face. Herpes is not an STI people test just for, they only test for it if you show symtoms. I don't know how old you are but life is not all about sex, you won't die if you don't have sex for now or at least get a loyal girlfriend. Lets even forget STIs, you want child support to ruin you? These girls are desperate and you need to be careful.
I swear, this post will certainly motivate me not to misbehave when I travel (to Canada) next month.

Please I need help, I'm submitting online today and trying to validate this form but it keeps bringing this back... (attached image) after I validate it writes successful and brings the barcode... then I try to save and just to confirm if it truly worked against when I will be uploading I discovered it's still bringing the same error and after correcting it validates but after saving error surfaces again. Also I still have my job and from till date isn't working so I used 2018-07 this month as my (to). I need someone's kind advise...

Thanks
You are getting those errors because you are using Foxit Reader. Use Adobe Reader to fill the form and you should be fine. I know this because someone I was helping had the exact same problem and was solved as soon as he changed to Adobe Reader.

The statement is false since people get their visa without funding.
The guy said "one needs full funding to stand a better chance" which is true.

But okay, I understand what you are saying. No need to argue on this.

A friend of mine said, one needs full funding to stand a better chance of getting a visa, how true is this info... House kindly assist....
Nahum777:
That's 100% incorrect. We have seen people with full funding get denied and we have seen people with no funding at all get approved.
Yes, it's true that fully funded students get denied. But c'mon 100% incorrect?
An admission with full funding does improves ones chances of getting a visa. There are no guarantees, but all things being equal, a fully funded student stands a better chance.

Hello @Austinpee4,

Thanks for this information. Please, I would like to ask, does it mean that if one already has a valid visitor TRV, upon approval of study visa application, passport request would not be requested for stamping ( since one already has a visa) only approval would be given and then when i travel i get my study permit at the point of entry?

Or is it that a special student visa for Canada exists, in this case, they will call for passports and reissue a particular student visa?

Please shed more light on this for me. Other nairalanders who have this information can also share please.

Thanks

goingforward.
On my TRV, it is clearly indicated that it's a Student Visa. So yes, a separate Student Visa exists and I think you'll still be asked to submit your passport.

Greetings to all the great members of this forum. I'll be as straight forward as possible. I graduated with a Bachelor's in 2017 and applied for my masters in environmental policy this year 2018, in Canada. I was awarded a full tuition waiver, living stipend and money for accommodation. But my study permit application was refused, for so many reasons a 22 year old cannot comprehend.

I have decided to let God take the glory and move on seeking similar opportunities in U.S.A for my masters in environment related field.

please I implore the benevolent contributors in this group to give me some ideas.

in conclusion, I need to know how to apply for a tuition waiver when applying for my master's program in USA. when I applied to Canada, I was asked to contact a faculty supervisor willing to supervise my research. The total applicable funding was quoted on the program website, but for the USA I learnt this process is for PhD applications.

should I just go ahead and search for programs with my course of interest, apply, and pray I get a similar opportunity? (the USA student visa process is easier I guess) or I still need to identity a faculty supervisor prior to my application? (I am going for thesis route)

Thank you. your warm contributions are highly anticipated.
Sorry to hear about this. This is surprising. Canadian visa applicants with full tuition waiver and stipend hardly ever get rejected. I also had a full tuition waiver and stipend and was approved.

I can see someone has given you the link to the USA visa thread. Study the thread religiously and write the GRE.

I wish you the best of luck in all your academic endeavors.

Cheers

EducationRe: How To Achieve High Scores On The GRE by kylexy61(m): 7:09pm On Jul 03, 2018
orelio:
Hey guys Good Morning.

So I gave Gre a try yesterday. Q162,V152.

Powerprep average :Q168,V152
Kaplan average:Q164,V153
Princeton average:Q164,V156
Magoosh average : Q160, V152

Recommendation
For verbal, although my score wasn't good but I think verbal grail, cracking the gre, magoosh questions and ETS materials should suffice. Don't waste your time cramming too many words, it's a test of structure not grammar.

For Quant; Ets materials,5lb Manhattan, magoosh questions.

Also take as many practice test as you can.

Thought about retaking it tho. I knew I could easily have gotten 166> in the quant if I had managed my time well.. But my verbal has been around 152 even in my practice tests; so except I know a way of improving it significantly(especial those RCs), there is no point retaking it again.

My profile
Mechanical engineering
UG : 3.35/4.0 but my last two years result is 3.57/4.0
No publication
IELTS: 7.0
Gre:314
Experience: 1 year Non engineering experience

Gurus in the house what are my chances for Kansas state university, auburn,Oregon and university of Arkansas.. I'll like to apply to more schools though so I'll appreciate your suggestions.@ponpon, quoran, scholatica16,Mr Riddy....
Seems the powerprep Quant is easier than actual GRE. My Quant Powerprep average was 167, I "only" got 163 in the actual. It appears the actual test questions are more time consuming. I remember I was really pressed for time.

Give it a shot and apply to as many schools as you can. Spread your risk, and triumph will be knocking at your door. I managed to get an admit to Purdue University, Civil Engineering (Tho, I eventually rejected the offer).

Best wishes

Hello good morning, afternoon, evening . I'm new here,
I'm gonna be coming to canada next month and I wanna know the questions asked at the airport after landing how difficult its, I wanna be well prepared before going cause I'm nervous huh

Any conestoga college students in here?
With your VISA in hand, you've already jumped over the highest and hardest of hurdles, Sir.

Just do not forget to have all the relevant documents in hand (Admission letter, LOI, Payment of fees receipt, etc). You will only be asked the simplest of questions you could easily answer in your sleep (Eg: What program are you going for? How many years? etc). In fact, you might not be asked anything at all.

Best wishes in your travel to, and your studies in Canada.

Cheers

Having said that, is there a group for Nigerians in Toronto? It can get boring here when you don't have much friends so if anyone is around North York/Etobicoke/Mississauga, holla! I wouldnt mind a meet up.
We thank God for His swift intervention in your job search.

I'll land in Toronto in August as a student (York University). Maybe we can link up.

1st of July I received the same mail that There have been no updates to your application... since you last checked your account. Thank you for your patience.

Please my oga in the forum what is happening I didn't understand... please someone should put me through am confuse...
If you log into your account you will see an option like "I would like to receive monthly updates about my application".

As long as that option is checked, you are going to receive that email every month until a decision is made on your application.

Good afternoon to everyone in the house & congratulations to the recent TRV approvals.

Please I would like to ask if before adding my supporting documents to my SOP I should first put a bullet list of them all to make life easier for the Visa Officer as he/she will have an idea of what is included?
Sure. You could even create clickable hyperlinks of the bullet list so that the VO can simple click and jump to a specific document instead of scrolling down.

Taking the pain to make the VO's work easier often creates a good impression.

Please, when travelling, can I pass through London if I have the visa?
As long as;

1. You won't be changing airport terminals in London
2. Your inbound and outbound times in London are on the same day (i.e. You wont stay in the airport overnight)

You can pass through London without a transit visa.

I think I just received a ghost update on my online account. After two weeks of medical request and medical passed, I just logged in now and saw "application/profile updated". But when I opened to view full details, I didn't see any updates. Nothing has changed.

Any ideas what's going on? Has anyone experienced something similar?
Same thing happened to me the day before I received approval mail/passport request. You have almost crossed the finish line in the TRV journey.

I thought when being called for medical that it is already 100% that visa will be given to you.
Joe10 wasn't called for medicals. He applied with upfront medical. Besides, being called for medicals isn't 100% guarantee of approval. 95% will be a more accurate estimation.

That being said, I am yet to see an applicant rejected after medical request in 2018 though.
