The issue with granting PR to FSW candidates who can't yet enter Canada due to Covid is that, it will generate massive numbers of people ready to fly to Canada the moment restrictions are removed. As soon as the borders are opened, almost everyone with PR all the way back from March 2020 will rush in within one or two months, putting a lot of pressure on housing and employment. That is why CIC is so reluctant to issue FSW draw at the moment 1 Like |

abnot: You clearly misunderstood my point. This isn't about whether or not Canada is attractive to you. I was just pointing out that your claim that Canada is attractive to only third world countries is inaccurate. And also, Half of EE applicants are Indians? Hahaha... 74% of H-1B visa holders in USA are Indians! Go figure! https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/nri/visa-and-immigration/three-fourths-of-h1b-visa-holders-in-2018-are-indians-us-report/articleshow/66289772.cms There is no need to argue about this. Everyone has their preferences. Keep yours to yourself and let others keep theirs. Don't push it down the throats of others. |

abnot: Very funny! And you think even if America had a favourable immigration system, Canadians would migrate in large numbers? Considering your earlier rants about Express Entry being attractive only to citizens of third world countries, America shouldn't have even made the top 10 list, despite their population. But there they are.....America, UK, Australia, France, Ireland. |

Gaddafithe2nd: Lol, except that the language barrier does play a huge role in the adaptation process. It takes time and dedication to learn a new language. That time can be well spent on other matters in Canada. Although I live in Canada, I do agree with most of Hadampson's points. Except for the ease of integration/friendlier/more welcoming environment in Canada, Germany trumps Canada mostly. It may be easier to settle in Canada initially, but in the long run, someone in Germany is more likely to fare better. 8 Likes 1 Share |

zicoraads: It will depend on a lot of factors and your personal preferences. I live in Canada, so everything I know about Australia is what I've read on the internet or heard from friends and a family member who is an Aussie PR. The most obvious difference between the two is the weather. Canadian winters are very harsh, unforgiving and will keep you indoors for almost half a year. I do love the snow though. Australia, enjoys lovely, warm summers and hot sunny beaches almost all year-round. It appears salaries/income levels is Australia is higher than Canada. But the cost of living is generally also higher. So maybe they balance out? Canada has a much more African presence. There are many more Nigerians/Africans in Canada than Australia, which helps a lot in making you settle down quickly and feel at home. Canadians are also more accustomed to seeing blacks and other immigrants than Aussies. Consequently, there is less discrimination. Just go for whichever suits you best. If you are choosing between Australia and Canada, you can't really make a wrong choice here. 5 Likes |

While I am not trying to debunk anyone's claims, I personally don't think police certificate is such a crucial document. Several people on this thread (myself included) were approved without a police certificate. I have never seen an application rejected solely due to the absence of a police certificate. I will also admonish people to be careful about including "affidavit of return" in their application. An affidavit of return is a legal document. If you include it in your application, and you later attempt to apply for a PGWP to stay back in Canada, it can be used as grounds for refusal. 5 Likes |

sleekysoft: You guys doing a very good job here. It's crazy how time suddenly seems to shrink as soon as you land in Canada. I remember some few weeks ago, with so many deadlines looming over my head, I kept on ordering food from outside twice a day for four consecutive days, simply because I felt I simply did not have enough time to go out for grocery shopping and prepare food. And the cold! Thankfully I did not have a nosebleed because I landed in August and had enough time to adjust as we slowly transitioned into winter. But I could still feel the moisture in my nostrils freezing up whenever I breathed in. The worst of winter is over now, and I can't wait for summer |

lolarde: This was also a problem for me until very recently when I managed to change the location. Open google play and swipe right or tap the three bars at the top left to pull up the sidebar menu, then select "Account". Under "Preferences" tab, you should see a sub-section called "Country and profiles". You can change the country there to Canada. In order to verify that you are really in Canada, the app may request for your Canadian debit card details. 41 Likes 32 Shares |

Emyres: Well, it depends on which part of US you're talking about. Some places in Arizona, for example, enjoy year-round warm sunshine and can get sweltering hot (upwards of 40C) during the summer. If you live in say Minneapolis, Minnesota, well then I guess you're gonna freeze a lot. But I doubt weather conditions alone is enough to conclude living in Nigeria is better. I live up north in Canada, which is much colder than most part of US and I'm doing fine here. |

I'm really enjoying this conversation. After being in Canada for just 4 months, I understand the reason why concepts like "submission" and "authority" don't really apply in marriages here. Both are contributing equally to the marriage, so to them, both should submit to each other. Neither the male nor female enjoys a monotonous authority to make major decisions concerning the family. If Naija women were to be given the same power as the Canadian women here, be rest assured the divorce rate in Naija may rise even higher than the Western countries. 28 Likes |
