WEIRDPC:
I do not know if this has been answered. Accommodation is usually shared 3 to 6 bedrooms around the school area with rooms in the basement, ground level and upstair(attic). Houses closer to school are more expensive compared to farther distance from school. A budget of 350 to 450 a month will work fine for accommodation. Except you want to stay alone, you should budget more.

There is also the option of getting accommodation on campus.
You menners dey feel oo. 350 is so cool. Where I'm headed to, I can hardly find any rental add with rent below 550.

I understand this rule but yes, it is possible to change status in Canada.

reading through this link, such an individual might fall under "other applicants category"

Greetings all,
I applied for trv with a conditional letter of admission. Having fulfilled the conditions, is it advisable to request for the unconditional letter of admission and mail it to CiC??
Try to request for the unconditional. But it may not be absolutely necessary to mail it to CIC just yet. They may or may not request for it.

I applied for TRV with a conditional admission letter. I was granted the TRV without any request from CIC for the unconditional letter.

Gurus in the house please advice us o. Can we apply from within Canada for study permit if we can travel there with visiting visa. Has anyone done it successfully?
You can only apply from Canada if you are a legal resident there (eg. If you are a permanent resident or have a work permit). You cannot apply for study permit on a visiting Visa.

That's interesting, for Electrical and Computer Engineering its a must for both MEng and MASC... Funny thing is I did their admission precheck like two months ago and I'm yet to get a go ahead due to high number of applicants.

By the way is it true that its only when you study in Ontario that's when you get opportunity to stay some years to work after study
Nope, not true. Anyone who graduates from an eligible post-secondary institution anywhere in Canada is eligible for a Postgraduate Work Permit (PGWP) as long as he did not violate the terms of his study permit. The duration of the PGWP depends on the duration of your studies in Canada.

Hello guys! Esp Engineering grad students in Canada

Please is there any disadvantage to going for MEng option rather than MASC in Canada

I want to know if I can easily get work experience with MEng certificate in Canada (Ontario) , cos I don't want to waste time looking for Supervisors for MASC.

Plead guys I need your advice.
Only difference is if you intend to pursue a PhD degree in the future, then having an MASc is much better than MEng. Otherwise, you can go ahead and apply for MEng. To the best of my knowledge, Canadian employers do not discriminate between MASc and MEng. They are all "Masters".

Lol, leave am make he dey talk
Make he check average class profiles and compare
I do agree with you that it's much easier to secure funding for PhD. But admitted PhD students usually have stronger academic credentials than Masters students. For example,
you can check University of Washington Civil Engineering Admitted Students Statistics

It is very clear from the link above that on average, admitted PhD students have higher GPA/GRE scores than Masters students.

I think it is easier to get admitted to a masters program. But chances of securing funding is very slim.

that's possible but it would represent a tiny fraction of the pool population.
Fair enough.

Fresty:
they don't have at least one year work experience yet though. doesn't that count?
Yeah but some may already have had work experience back home before becoming an international student. If their CRS increases high enough, they won't need to wait 1 year and go CEC route. They can simply apply via FSW immediately.
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program- Connect Here Part 4 by kylexy61(m): 7:14pm On Jun 13, 2018
Lot's of Canadian international students graduated this May. That may have also played a part in the sharp increase in new 441+ entries into the pool. A Canadian degree does give a significant CRS boost after all.
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program- Connect Here Part 4 by kylexy61(m): 6:31pm On Jun 13, 2018
Last time there was a 3-week gap, cut off was 457. So maybe 451 this tine around isn't so bad after all. But the pool is ever increasing and may reach 100,000 by the end of the year. Chai!!

ysteph:
As it is only people with CRS of 452 and over will get ITA. There is definitely no 451 from July, 2017 in the pool.
Unless the person was in the pool before July 2017, but had a low score and only recently upgraded his profile to 451.

Hello everyone, I got a request for medicals but i uploaded the upfront medicals during my application with the space provided for it, I went to the place I did my medicals and they said they don't have access to my medicals any more, it has been sent... what should I do now.. thank you.
That's quite unfortunate. Try shooting CIC an email. If it does not work, you may have to consider redoing the medicals. Don't be disheartened by the unanticipated additional costs. With a medical request from CIC, your chances of approval is already 90+%.

Foreign work experience is the one you have got from anywhere aside Canada. So your Nigerian, UK, US, Malaysian, Ethiopian work experience is FOREIGN. Foreign to Canada. The experience you get from Canada is LOCAL. Hope this helps?

And if i may add to help someone else, the day you arrive Canada, you are from "abroad". Those from Canada are "locals". Foreign is not only Obodo oyibo, as Nigerians largely seem to think.

Cheers.

So if I have 1 year work experience in canada and No work experience in Naija, I'll answer 1 year in both 6i and 6ii?

Exactly!
Strangely, I gain points for "foreign work experience" under skill transferability factors. How is that possible?

Good day everyone.

I want to begin my application process to 3 universities.

1. Will my my referees, who happen to be my past lecturers, need to write 3 letters of recommendation each addressed to each university or is it that they will title it, TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN and I make copies for each university?

2. The school where I acquired my Bsc does not issue unofficial transcripts. Can I use the transcript I recieved months ago while trying to apply for another university as a unofficial transcript to all the schools I'm applying to pending when admission is granted as required by the schools?

Thanks in anticipation of your prompt response.
1. For applications to most universities in CA, you will be required to enter the emails of your lecturers. The universities themselves will contact the lecturers and give them specific instructions regarding how upload the recommendation letters. So don't worry too much about that.

2. Yes, you can.

No draws this week. I have a feeling if 3500 or fewer ITA's are issued in next draw, the cut-off will be higher than 440.

Hurray!! Lemia my mahn!! Mighty congratulations.

I remember when you posted your list of documents here before you submit. I was thinking "If CIC doesn't approve this guy, then I don't know what they want again". Even with funding from your Uni, your application was watertight and covered all angles.

God has done it.

Congrats once again.

I'm awaiting Phocusjosh and everyone else's approval.

Hello Seniors,

I just checked my CIC account now, and found out that "They're currently reviewing my eligibility", and Background check also under review.

Does that mean one may not necessarily receive email update when they start eligibility reviews? Because I didn't get any email to that effect.
Yes. They normally don't send emails when they start eligibility review.

From your post, I think I agree with the GRE and TOEFL part. The other part is influenced by your own personal views.
1. Are you aware that there are over 4000 accredited schools in the United States? If EducationUSA can invite such schools to Nigeria for college fair, please madam, you have no business calling them dead schools!
2. Are you aware that all fingers are not equal? Everyone did not and would not come out with first class or second class upper?
3. Are you aware that everyone must not attend top schools?
4. Are you aware that some of those who went to your so-called dead schools get H1b visa sponsorship?
5. Are you aware that people further their studies for different reasons other than the limited reasons you gave above? The world is full of opportunities and everyone's path is different.
6. Are you aware that going to a top school does not guarantee a job offer after school?

My point: The flavor of your post was haughty. Hence, my response to you. Do not use your personal preferences to judge other people. They are not you. Learn to understand individual differences.
Make you no mind am. She created an account like 2 days ago and wrote this long-winded polemic on 4 different forums.

"Dead School"! What an obnoxious way to refer to an educational institution! undecided
