EducationRe: Are Nigerian Graduates Useless, Especially Engineers ? by Labelle(f): 9:02pm On Jul 06, 2011
OMG!, I can't believe I have just read all 5 pages!!!

Unfortunately y”all, Olas2u, Bzugee and Blackstar are 1000% wholly, completely, totalyistically on point,

Sentiments and emotions aside, take a cue and sleep on it!

Its freaky, I had this same conversation with my peeps yesterday, see, its not just in the techi areas, its in all areas.

Best lines and truest talk:

’naija man has a classist mindset which he feels precludes him from getting dirty. this is obviously a negative for the field of engineering’’
‘’the wrong people go into engineering and for the wrong reasons. if you are not technical minded, you have no reason going into engineering. people wrongly go into it because they feel it is prestigious''
’see thats that lazy nigerian mentality of waiting for a non-existent govt to solve all our problems. any engineer with true knowledge will build a prototype of what he is doing in his garage and then go and look for investors. thats how it is done. am tired of excuses mayne. if youhave the know-how best believe you would look for investors to back you up’’

Lol @ this
‘’I have onced followed a turkish national to fix furnitures he produced by himself in Nigeria, but the funniest thing was that the big man was so impressed that white people came to fix his furnitures. If an elite can think this way, what about the ordinary Nigerians.’’

This totally happens in my factory all the time, they even take pictures and plaster them all over office memorabilia.

RomanceRe: Is It Possible For A Man To Stay Faithful To One Woman Forever? by Labelle(f): 12:42pm On May 08, 2011
O
Yes, it is possible, and I'm a living proof (so far! grin).

It is the easiest thing for me in a relationship. My last relationship, happened to be the longest, lasted 4.5yrs and we were both faithful and committed to it. We were frank about our preferences from the bedroom to daily activities and we sought a middle ground for everything. Before I get involved with someone, there has to be connection on different levels and not just physical.

I believe it depends on a lot of things and not just the relationship you are in. Your family background, place of work, friends you hang out with etc.

For me, I come from a peaceful and loving home where my Dad referes to my mum as "my wife" not "your mother/mum". He treats her with respect, love and kindness and she does the same, so i grew up with the notion to treat women with respect and avoid those that wont treat me with the same respect.

Like some posts said, a lot of we faithful guys are "plain and boring" and I cannot deny that grin. I rarely go to parties/clubs, I have a close circle of friends, don't drink, smoke or do drugs so my judgment is never impaired by such and  my main vices are travelling and eating out. So, avenues of temptation are greatly reduced. Most of my friends are female, so I don't get carried away with female attention - on the downside I tend to fail to notice when a girl is flirting with me, I just think she's being nice and friendly embarassed. I also would like to reduce the chances of STDs, unwanted pregnancies and so on, I don't like drama.

And many more things add up to make being faithful in a relationship as easy as breathing, for me! kiss

Oh yeah, and the grace of God for good measure wink.
O.M.G, you sound 100% like my soon to be ex! What.The.What? I had to look through your profile like a million times, just to be sure it wasn't him (well he's a year younger , so, ). But you know what, the ONLY person that has said the truth in this thread is maclatunji and you! I cant recall the last time I posted on this site, but when I read this, I totally flipped, I say this to my friends EVERYDAY! I said it on Monday, on Tuesday, Wednesday, everytime the relationship talk springs up, I am quick to chip this little secret in! Its pretty simple people, look around you, in the office , in the classrooms, down the street, there's always that cool headed, shyish quiet guy, who most would be quick to tag ''mumu, ''slow'' or even ''Blaah'', most times they could be smarties and always have the brightest of prospects, but many girls are blind to these attributes and straight up go for the D''bang types so that they can put up their pix on Facebook and have all their friends quiver in envy and whatnot.

Hi Kuwena,

Please can I have your autograph??

I started reading this thread last July, and followed through until the end, January this year.

Turned my phone into an e-book reader thanks to the bookmark feature.

I got so attached to the thread and eventually found out I knew your lost love (miss doc).

Think I sent you a mail once, but not sure you ever received it.

It all panned out like a powerful retro story, I felt like I was in the scene, I was part of your story.

It was intense. I could feel every ounce of your despair, 2007, when you found out you had been ditched.

I recall the comment about you wearing a pair of jeans to the Assessment center.

But I also learnt from your will and drive to forge ahead in the instance of failure and disappointment.

You are indeed an inspiration to my future aspirations.

Regards,

Labelle.

Your kid most likely has ADHD. Amazing no one has mentioned this. Must say, be wary of family and friends that are quick to atune his behavour to 'demons/evil spirits', they could cause harm to your child.

ADHD is quite common amongst growing boys about that age, my neighbour's kid is one hell of an example! It ain't a disease but a condition. You need to see a specialist.

PoliticsNewfound Asteroid Will Fly Close By Earth Thursday by Labelle(op): 4:47pm On Apr 08, 2010
A newly discovered asteroid will zip close by Earth Thursday, but poses no threat of crashing into our planet even though it is passing within the orbit of the moon.

The asteroid, called 2010 GA6, is a relatively small space rock about 71 feet (22 meters) wide and was discovered by astronomers with the Catalina Sky Survey in Tucson, Az. The space rock will fly within the orbit of the moon when it passes Earth Thursday at 7:06 p.m. EDT (2306 GMT), but NASA astronomers said not to worry, the planet is safe.

"Fly bys of near-Earth objects within the moon's orbit occur every few weeks," said Don Yeomans of NASA's Near-Earth Object Office at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., in a statement.

At the time of its closest pass, asteroid 2010 GA6 will be about 223,000 miles (359,000 km) from the Earth. That's about nine-tenths the distance between Earth and the moon [more asteroid photos].

The space rock is not the first asteroid to swing close by Earth this year.

In January, the small asteroid 2010 AL30 passed within 80,000 miles (130,000 km) when it zipped by. Other space rocks have flown past Earth at more comfortable distances greater than several hundred thousand miles.

NASA routinely tracks asteroids and comets that may fly near the Earth with a network of telescopes on the ground and in space. The agency's Near-Earth Object Observations program, more commonly known as Spaceguard, is responsible for finding potentially dangerous asteroids and studying their orbits to determine if they pose a risk of hitting the Earth.

NASA's latest space telescope, the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) launched in December, has been given the task of hunting new asteroids that were previously undetectable because they shine only in the infrared range of the light spectrum.

So far, the WISE telescope has been discovering dozens of previously unknown asteroids every day. Some of those space rocks have been tagged for closer analysis since they may be potentially hazardous to Earth, WISE mission scientists have said.

If you cannot see how that statement relates to the unnecessary rattling/division spewed on this thread, then it is pointless furthering a conversation with you.

What I am anxious about is how that some how can be likened to inferiority.

My whole rant was simply attributing the backwardness of a race to its personal weaknesses, the continual urge to attain self-bliss by reigning disdainful remarks on a supposed 'brother', and further creating even wider divides amongst what ought to be 'a people'. Don't you somewhat find inner joy reminding that other Nigerian how hopeless his lot is, because he is based in a failed state?? Even the odd jobbers are trailing along, singing the glory of the Western states who do not give a rat ass about their carcasses.

Incase you missed the point, you are the point. I see no basis for this rivalry, if you do, please tell.

@Rossike.

Friend, don't get excited all too quickly. It is apparent you have'nt read my post, take a little time to re-read and you'll see that my grouse isn't with the white race, or said race being somewhat superior or whatever else you jabbed up there, but rather with the growing divisions (mostly fueled by hate) within the black race. That's the reason you'll always remain an object of mockery to the rest of the larger more civilised world. You all act like rabid sniffer dogs. Look at all these people for instance, fuming over status symbols and what not, what basis is all this? Really ?
PoliticsRe: All Diasporians Know Nothing About Nigeria, They Make Me Laugh When They Argue. by Labelle(f): 11:44am On Nov 11, 2009
Initially I thought it was a societal thing, then a tribal thing, then a Nigerian thing, or maybe a West African thing? Then finally, I realized it was a BLACK THING. A people cursed by their race, regardless of nationality, citizenship or exposure, all by birth are cursed beyond redemption.

I am 22 years old, and well aware of my birth mark, which this thread certainly reeks of. Yesterday my birth mark tried to overpower me but I fought back, I refused to think little of the folks seating next to me, I refused to be condescending, I refused to mock them or the way they spoke of their achievements in order to feel better about myself; WONT GIVE IN TO THE BLACK IN ME.

We are quick to condemn the Muslims we think they are extremists, they rape our young girls and subject the entirety of our nation to undue havoc. But, we also hate the South Africans for being xenophobic, call them rapists, they are violent, dirty and reddened with AIDS, we detest Sony because they reopened an already open can of worms, we call that young man fool because he considered touching his HIV positive girlfriend, we support the pedophile for it is all for love, we are obsessed with marriage, we do not question the man on the pedestal  because he choruses  a certain Jewish name, we hate the way he says odikwa very risky, hate his 3rd neighbour, the one with the H-factor, hate the short lot cos they eat dogs.

We are indeed a sickly cursed race with (apparently) no hope of revival, old young, learned illiterate, Diasporians or indigenes all are guilty.

Please someone tell me, what is the basis of this thread? A 3rd world gathering at its best.

I will like to plead with any 16-25 year olds reading this thread to please desist from joining this useless debate, it only shows you giving into your dirty birth mark (the aggravated compulsion to feel better than the next person) and in this endless quest for relevance, you end up making a huge ridicule of thyself.
Jobs/VacanciesWarning: Latest Job Scam, Are You Already Compromised? by Labelle(op): 11:57am On Oct 18, 2009
Seun Osewa, I hope you deem this fit to make Homepage.

Lately there has been a sharp increase in scam activities involving recruitment and placements of applicants for all jobs levels and categories. Gone are the days where after sending your CVs to certain job openings, your only fear is being asked to pay sums which may range from N1000-N50,000, now you should be fearing for the dear lives of people close to you as these faceless crooks have graduated to a more productive but unfortunately extremely dangerous from of swindle.

It is called REFERENCE THEFT.

Just as the title implies, they extract the names, phone numbers, email addresses and whatever else you put on your CV and proceed to carrying on all kinds of fraudulent activities they deem profitable with you having no inkling about what’s happening. Referees found on most CVs range from persons holding influential positions in various sectors to just about any uncle, aunt, or friend who has a day job.

Last Tuesday, (the 13th to be precise) the Guardian Newspapers published an advert for a supposed Multinational publishing company. They claimed to be one of the largest publishing houses in the world and where looking to recruit such persons as Secretaries, Advert personnel, Correspondents, Editors, Proof Readers and the like. They stated starting monthly salary as N100,000 (nice move) for all listed positions except that for Editors which was pinned at N180,000. They went further to describe the interview process, which required applicants to go to two hosted sites where they would read and summarise several articles on Forex/Wealth Creation/Money Making Tips etc in a few lines. They were also required to forward their resume with the summarised articles to a Gmail address.

NOW THE SHOCKING BIT.

They further mandated applicants to include the NAMES, PHONE NUMBERS, EMAIL ADDRESSES, FULL HOUSE ADDRESSES (not postal) OF 3 REFEREES on their resume. And yes they claimed to have been seeking applicants from the 36 states of the Federation. Now imagine the number of lives that would be put at various levels of risk including robbery, harassment, and Impersonation if this materialises in full.

The advertorial ended with an interesting caveat. They implored applicants not to pay any fees regarding this particular job and that any person caught soliciting funds would be arrested and locked up behind bars. This move was obviously a frail attempt to add some credibility to the advert. I suspect many who had early read with a bit a suspicion, would give in at this point. The advert was not one of those tiny boxed ones; it was a complete half page advertorial. Talk about investment strategies.

Anybody could be at risk here including you and me. I don’t think applicants actually take permission from these referees first before including their names and what not on their CVs.

Please protect the people that have been bold/kind enough to stand as sureties for you, do not place any personal information about referees on your CV, infact simply replace referee details with the phrase,’ Available upon request’ except in cases where you have to fill online recruitment forms of companies you are sure EXISTS.

I'm like with an MBA and 3.98/4.0 i will not qualify , ok understandable if i dont have the right stuff . But not cos they only take 1st class from Ife and UI and Ivy league from abroad.

Hi NL,

Its my colleague, he's like the sweetest guy ever,  very honest, incredibly smart, he's the type that hardly talks, but when he does, everyone by default shuts the hell up , cos he sells the most industrious ideas ever. Even though he's just 2 years older than me, he's easily my mentor, and i have a lot of respect for him.

BUT,

He's got a bad breath, like really terrible, I don't want to believe its hygiene related cos he's generally a neat guy, and i don't think any sane grown up would hit the road without brushing their mouth. He's been in this same condition for months, one time it got so bad that i started buying like 20 pieces of Tom-Tom everyday, and cos of this, everyone on my team thinks I am so nice, friendly with a giving heart. I really want to help my colleague but i don't know how to without making him feel embarrassed.
