Greetings to the gurus in the house . I got a 2 year visiting visa early this year for myself and Wifey . we are planning that my wife should go first and relax a bit there . we can't go together now because of work demand and all that . my question is how long apart can we travel ? Can she be there like 4-5 months before my arrival because the plan is we would come back together when I visit . is there possibility of me having issue at the POE that my wife had stayed longer for somebody that earns salary in Nigeria with max of 20 working days leave per annnum because wifey used to work until she resigned recently
Which kind of relaxation of 4-5months?
If you are a CBP officer, what would you think?
That kinda marriage that wife goes to relax for 5 months away from husband? Some times folks know their plans sound weird but nonetheless ask, so people can crack their head for no just cause

Thank you so much. How about the interview?
These are basic info contained on the embassy website. If you don't have it, then your chances of success are greatly diminished. The time you spent waiting for one liner answers could have been put to better use.
Read up. E go pay you better.

Sorry, I don't have the answers to your questions because I believe you can get it by yourself

Hello Gurus here, Please a friend of mine who just got a US visa here in Lagos wants to know if he can travel from Sao Paulo, Brazil to the United States because that's his base. He is a PR holder in Brazil.

Thank you
Does he have a valid visa? Yes
Then yes, he can enter the US from wherever he pleases

So, i ve been following this thread since i got my visa approved in April, its funny how i never saw it pre- my interview but daily, i m drawn to just look through and read. let me share my transcript.

Rainy day, got there early, joined the long queue, all i could see was blue papers flying left right and centre, i was calm previously o, until i started observing people returning with their passports and the blue sheet. One particular lady with a shrilly voice wasnt approving any visas, i silently prayed i wouldn't be sent to her. Thankfully my prayers were answered, was sent to a queue with an African American. She took so much time with the lady in front of me and i cant remember if she gave her but i walked up when it was my turn and the following conversation happened.

VO: Good Morning, can i have your passport please.
Me: Good Morning, here it is
VO: What is your purpose for travelling to the United States
Me: i would like to spend my annual vacation on holiday, visiting a friend
VO: Why are your choosing to travel to the United States at this time?
Me: My host has about 15 days ish free and its my vacation period so what better time to travel
VO: (Typing viciously) where will you be staying during in the US
Me: Passaic, New Jersey
VO: What do you do for a living
ME: I work in a XXXX as a Corporate Strategy Analyst
VO: Have you made any trip outside the country before
Me: Yes - Twice to the United Kingdom and the DRC for work last year
VO: (Checks my UK visa with some funny pen that had a light) What did you go to do in the DRC
Me: i work as a Strategy analyst and we went to develop strategic plans for our international subsidiary there
VO: (Silence, continues to type for long) looks up, are you married
ME; No
VO: Engaged?
ME: No
VO: Do you have any kids?
ME: No
VO( continues typing), How long do you intend to stay in the US
ME: About 3 weeks my holidays are just 20 working days.
VO: looks up , picks the white paper and cycles the address to pick up Visa. Your Visa has been approved, please note the amount of time you are stamped in when you get to the POE, so you dont overstay. Have a good one
ME: thank you. have a good day also.

I walked away, entered the rest room, used it and left..
I was a bit nervous with the long silences but i just kept a pleasantly un-emotional face..

I m a bit concerned about this whole JFK business cos, i ve purchased my ticked to fly in through JFK and its even a tad more hectic cos Abu dhabi has a US pre-clearance centre but i m not worried sha. God's gat me.

Nice reading from everyone i guess and thank you for helping people to know more about this process.
*Drops Mic*
Congrats.
JFK is like literally the most stress less POE. Ever!

how can I get US Visa
2 options
Ist.
1. Get an international passport
2. Go to the altar at your local mosque or church
3. Cut yourself with a knife like the prophets and call down fire like Elijah
4. Wait for the fire to imprint the visa on your passport.

Or 2nd
Research /Use Google and follow the steps clearly spelt out in the US embassy website.

Either option works fine

Don't spoil ur information, is better u maintain what the agent gave u. So u need to go and do some assignment on the countries the agent gave u. Like ur purpose of traveling to those countries, the address where u stayed. Etc. My advise
Which kind of advice is that?
Based on logic? Faulty. Misinformation and lies cannot be proved. Stamps are verifiable.

Consistency? How can he maintain the lie? If he Was refused and he reapplied, can he maintain the lie? Of course not. If it counted against him then, it's worse now cos it shows the fellow has not changed.

Common sense? Most definitely not! Cos he may be banned after the vo sees the fake stamps and crap.

@ Op. It's never too late to correct a wrong.... Until u go in for the interview with the fake information. Quick question. The agent had he ever been to America ? Ask yourself if the blind can lead the blind. U were refused even with tune nonsense info and you still want to fill it again?

glad you commented on this lady G ,now lets get some things straight.

1. I did not attach any faith to a bow tie, as fate would have it the VO who interviewed me had a bow tie just like mine...call it coincidence
but that was the instruction. Maybe it was designed to happen that way but it did, I was facing booth 8 and 7 but the lady told me to stand in front of booth 3 instead. Well maybe it was meant to happen that way too.

2. i did not go to redeem camp because of favor but because i found it convenient to pass the night there and continue the journey the following morning.

3. True i had strong ties no doubt ,but i have seen fellow half russian folks like me denied several times.

of course i don't except for most to believe in all these, but saying that its superstitious etc is rather uncalled for.

John Terry the former chelsea player is probably the most superstitious player i have come across, he must wear a particular type on shin guard before he plays, must park his car in a particular spot in a car park etc...before a game. yet i don't blame him. For some of us the God factor has played vital role in several aspects of our lives and lets respect that.

Christian folks who are deeply spiritually discerning would understand what transpired in that interview.
Ummmm.....
Kindly re read my posts.
I am of the opinion that whatever you did or believe in is your opinion and no one should belittle your views.

Truth of the matter is he can't stand before a VO and say: "I got this Visa because I connected to God through my bow tie . In fact he would remember the scripture that says: "Wisdom is profitable to direct" and would quietly collect white paper and dissappear from the Embassy.

Na we good to hear story about bow tie. Next time make he first tell the VO. I case my rest.
Can you remember reading transcripts where folks were saying one thing to the vo and thinking something else?

All I'm saying I let's not knock people's beliefs. While I may not do what he did prior to and during the interview, I won't criticize. Even If he wants to believe feathers and eggs will do the trick, na e Sabi. The main characteristic about faith is that it is illogical.
If the reader here is too lazy to analyze transcripts as take out points salient to them, it's on them. Who knows? Going to redemption camp may become the next big thing.

A little tolerance and less opinion superiority complex could go a long way. Anyways lemme relish the Ugba and Pammie I just wack

Hmmmm
Permit me to offer my humble view.
True. The guy's profile kicked "behind "
True. He had ties.
True. Attaching spiritual beliefs to material items borders on idolatry or is plain idolatry....

However, let's not forget every one has a point of view. His style of passing across his message and his beliefs remain that.... His.
He sees his visa as being orchestrated by God. The next fellow out there who reads his transcript and does not put all the factors of the guy's circumstance into consideration, na for e pocket.
Again, let's not forget, there are people with more impressive profiles that have been refused.

Hello all I recently got a visiting visa , I am 4 months pregnant , my true intentions are to visit for 2weeks as I am not financially prep for childbirth there so I don't intend on having a baby there, but I am hearing stories that might be turned back at POE as they might not believe me.I repeat my intention is holiday, surely there is no issue in a preg lady going on vacation .Please can someone advise
Theres really nothing else but to answer the CBP and tell him your true intentions if the situation indeed arises.

You can tell them to stamp you in for the duration of your vacation only. That May allay their fears...

But sha...why you wan go vacae now? Kuku be saving that one and be saving and use am go born jare , collect green pale for pikin then do your vacae that time

Good day everyone, Please I want to apply USA visa for my son of 18months old, he was denied USA visa last year along with me and his father but now his grandma who has a valid USA visa is willing to take him along on a 2weeks trip for a church program since his grandma is the one taking care of him Whenever we are off to work and me and his Dad are always very busy at work, no one to stay with him if his grandma travels out. Please can i apply for him? If yes, how do i go about it? Will his grandma be the one to take him to the embassy or one of his parents? Will he be granted visa because both parents don't have USA visa? Thanks and God bless.
I agree with the reasons given by omobendel. Whatever the reason you preferred, I believe the fact that the child is 18 months and about to be separated from his parents weighs more.
Even though she's technically his nanny, you guys still come back from work and see him everyday and she is not his legal guardian.
If he was denied alongside his parents with the assumption of an immigrant intent and inability to prove ties, then why should he be given with a non legal guardian?

@shookie sorry the question asked is one that you need to answer yourself.
Go through the thread. Read. Learn. Then self evaluate whether your circumstances have changed. Confidence comes from sweat and hard work done by onself

I agree with simbolee. The op had no objective basis for his assertion. His/her opinion is formed by her/his rejection. The essence of this thread is to help others by dropping our transcripts and have each person reach a conclusion. Where, however one draws a conclusion it is my opinion that it should be based on logic and statistics. When folks here have been getting visas with less than 5 years experience, it would be nice to know the basis of his submission so that users aren't misled.

I too got my visa with much less than 5years experience.

@LadyGuinivere
It is a reasonable assumption that one who stays for that long must have a means of sustenance.... Ergo probably working in the US and being paid under the table... That's one

Maybe they want to verify you paid all your bills

Whatever the reason was that made you stay back, then say the truth. Don't go making up stories you can't verify.
And yes. Lots of people get called in for interviews. Usually those that fit into the 2bills you fit into

Hello All,

I just applied this morning via dropbox for renewal. I also applied for my baby who's just about one year old but was surprised when the DHL personnel said I'd need to book appointment to apply for her at the US Embassy. I thought that would be unnecessary since she's a minor.
I requested for how to get a refund but they gave me a number which is not even connecting

Are they on point with their advice? if yes, how do i get a refund to do the fresh application?
Also, please, how long does it take to go for pickup if applying via dropbox?

Thanks in advance for your response.
For every application, never assume.
Always read the instructions on the website. The qualifications for drop box are clearly stated there.
Unfortunately, that money is gone. No refunds after drop box booking
I also believe the nos of days to pick up is on the website though it ranges between 2 to 10 days

Dear friends my advice to people applying for visiting visa. Ps be very careful on how u fill your form. For family ties USA people take it very serious. Family ties are having kids, spouse, a good job. For the job ps note that VO are very strict about it. For your job make sure u av stayed in the job for years than months. Years can be 5years up ward. That is my advice. I was denial visa yesterday depect my travel history. I have worked in my new office for 9months and got my leave and applied for USA visiting visa, so I was denial beacuse of it.
1. How did you know the reason why you were denied?
2. Where have you traveled to prior to the application?
3. How did you pick the figure "5 years upward... ' Were tough told so by the VO?
Kindly answer so we can reach our individual conclusions.
NB. All the factors mentioned have been taken seriously by the embassy from the get go. It's not a New thing
