Reference letter is different from referees, it simply means letter of attestation and recommendation from your referees. Shikenna

Since you'll soon be heading to the university, I'll advice you to start selling okirika ladies' wears. Chiffon tops, bum shorts, leggings, girdles, gowns etc. That's if you have a good fashion sense and can select nice clothes your fellow girls will like to buy.

When you're going to school, you can still pack them into your bag and sell it to your course-mates, neighbours and friends when you get there.
This is the best business you can do as a lady student. You can even get a stand/mini shop in school market at a very cheap price when are admitted.

He said, “NO.” I told him, “My son is Bill Gates’ son-in-law.” He said, “OK.” This is exactly how Nigeria's dirty politics works
Education / Oloyede's Appointment Is The Best Appointment Buhari Has Done by lafex: 7:01am On Aug 02, 2016
I have no doubt that appointment of Prof. Oloyode is the best man that can handle JAMB at the moment.
This is a man wgo brought sanity to University of Ilorin during his tenure as VC. He's very descipline and don't tolerate nonsense. During his tenure as VCboth the teaching and non teaching staffs did their work excelently. Unilorin became the first university to write CBT during his time. Unilorin had the fastest academic program without strike. He opted out of ASUU without looking back and even did not fall. Above all unilorin became the best university and the most chosing university among the jambite then in Nigeria during his tenure. Though am not a unilorite but I always eny them then.
I believe that he will be able to reform JAMB and Nigeria's education system as a whole just like he did in Unilorin.

RedCapChief:

What the average cost of getting a plot of land from estate developers?

Don't mind him jare, estate developer that will be asking for millions of naira. Even the estate developer he's referring to follow this same process to acquire the land and follow their way up.
Which one is better if you can follow up this process or pay millions of naira to the developer?

For those asking if its real. There is no land being allocated in Abuja that must not pass through the above process (but naija factor affects it). Even the senetors and honourables that are entitle to a plot of land in every tenure must follow this procedure and pay the amount stated above to have their information in AGIS data base Land is being allocated in every year in Abuja but the present administration has not done any allocation because their plan is to develop the already allocated lands before ne allocations are done.
The advantage of the form is that once you open the form you won't pay any other legit money again before your land is allocated and there is no time limit for the application even you can claim your land in the next 10 years with proper follow up.
My advice for anybody that want to apply for this form is that
Apply and follow up by meeting people at the top
If you can buy land worth of millions then you can invest 50/100k that worth millions immediately it yields.
Properties / How To Acquire Fct/Abuja Land Directly From Federal Government by lafex: 10:38am On Jul 29, 2016
There are two types of lands in FCT/Abuja which are FCDA land and Area Council land. Area Council lands were being allocated by the chairmen of each area council but the FCT minister is now the one allocating both FCDA and Area Council lands through an agency called AGIS (Abuja Geographic Information System).
AGIS is responsible for generation, management and administration of geospatial and land related matters in the FCT which include handling of data capture, processing and computerization of land related departments as well as customer services such as billing and revenue collection.
To acquire any land directly from the government one has to open a new application file in AGIS by taking the following steps
1. Obtain a new application form from AGIS or download from www.agis.fct.gov.ng
2. Pay 50,000 (for Area Council land) or 100,000 (for FCDA land) to AGIS account at GTBank, FirstBank, Zenith Bank or any other designated bank.
3. Present evidence of payment (teller) to AGIS (finance department) to ontain receipt
4. Open file at New Application Desk with the following documents
A) photocopy of the receipt
B) two passport size photograph
C) means of identification (national I D card, international passport or driver licence)
D) tax clearance certificate
5. Collect copy of acknowledgement of the form to claim the land when its being allocated to you
NOTE
1. You are not legally binded to pay any money to anybody apart from the one stated above.
2. Opening of the form does not authomatically guarantee you of getting the land but just serve as the first step to acquire the land.
Questions are welcome

Islam for Muslims / Re: Seeking A Muslim Solution To Islamist Terrorism by lafex: 12:41pm On Jul 22, 2016
Seun:
In light of the tragedy in France, which claimed 84 lives, I'd like to ask Nairaland muslims a very important question:

Is there something in Islam that makes it very easy for bad men to convince young muslim men to take part in evil terrorist attacks?

If so, what is it? And what should be done to permanently end the perpetration of terrorist acts by people who claim to be muslims?
lafex:

Alhamdulillah, you have said it all.
In addition to what you said I will like to tell u how these terrorists wanted to invade all tertiary institutions with their ideology about ten years ago when boko haram was coming up. I hwas fortunate to attend the first university in the north.
They mount their agents to the hostel in which I stayed throughout my schooling in the school to brainwash innocent youth by showing videos of different fights in jos nor (which was the latteast crisis in nigeria then), kaduna south crisis, 9/11 story and subsequent wars that follw it. The videos consist of the documentries shows how people are being massacred and bombed. While watching the videos they were telling us ' will u be folding ur hands by allowing this kufar(non believers to be killing us like that?'
While watchimg the documentries my heads would be swelling up (like garri ijebi) and I would be pitying my fellow muslims.
Thank God that we had people like Abu Sufyan that engaged them in public debate before the situation gone viral.
When the MSSN noticed that this brainwah was going beyond expectation, they subjected the group to public debate by presenting one person each from the two sects (the MSSN and the terrorist group). The public debate lasted for days but they were still adamant to stop the brainwashing. Then the MSS later report them to the school authority who later expel and suspend some of them.
in conclution, the solution to the terrorism is public debate by islamic schorlars with terrorist leaders to enlighten the public and their potential members but most of the scholars are afraid of their evil deeds the way they killed Albani Zaria (raheemau Allahu Alahi) with his family.
May the Almighty Allah continue to guide us.

Education / Ranking Of Universities Subjective, Political, Says ABU VC by lafex: 2:09pm On Jul 19, 2016
Prof. Ibrahim Garba, the Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has said that the ranking of universities worldwide is “subjective and political”.

Garba said this when he featured at the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Forum in Abuja.

NAN recalls that no Nigerian university was listed in the 2016 annual rankings compiled by the Centre for World University Rankings (CWUR), a Saudi Arabia-based education consulting firm.

The vice-chancellor said that most times, the ranking was aimed at attracting patronage to some universities.

“University ranking is quite a subjective matter depending on who is ranking and what criteria he is using to rank.

“There is so much information floating around in the net that you get people doing ranking and so on.

“Ranking is also political because education today has become a commercial venture in the world.

“People going for education tourism; it is a multimillion dollar business. So, people are promoting themselves to get patronage from people that are seeking education.

“So, it is very difficult sometimes to believe a particular ranking especially when it is not done by you or your own people but by some other people that are using some set standards.’’

According to Garba, since ranking is becoming increasingly acceptable, it has become a challenge, which universities struggle to overcome.

He said, however, that it was impossible for any Nigerian university to be ranked even if they produced geniuses.

The vice-chancellor, who is a professor of Geology, said the criteria used in ranking tertiary institutions globally, could not be met be Nigerian universities.

He identified one of the major challenges facing Nigerian universities as lack of knowledgeable people.

“The visibility in the virtual world is number one criteria; they want to see all the research work from such universities.

“They want to see how many Nobel laureates you produce; how many foreign students and lecturers are in your mix.

“In terms of research we do not have stable electricity; there is no laboratory in the world where electricity is interrupted.

“In Nigerian universities today, even if the facilities are there, there is no steady power supply.

“No spare parts; we have to import; the infrastructure is so degraded that it is not possible for you to come out clean on your own,” he said.

The vice-chancellor said that if not for the intervention from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), the standard of Nigerian universities would have degraded further.

He said TETFund was an idea of the Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities and not of the Federal Government.

According to him, because TETFund is an interventionist agency, the funding of universities should not be left for it alone. (NAN)

Politics / Re: The Best President Nigeria Ever Had And Never Had. by lafex: 6:16pm On Jul 17, 2016
The best answer to your question is Nigerians can never be pleased becaused atleast I can talk about the history of Nigeria since Abacha period.
Wll that I knew is that I Abacha was the worst president until we had Abdulsalam when Abdulsalam empty the treasury in the promise of handing over to civilian but he instead handed over to partial-military government of OBJ who created EFCC to fight his perceived enemies and loot a lot of money from the treasury. OBJ later bribe the NASS to vote for third term agender in pretence to monopolise the government for his life time but failed due to mass campaign against his wish.
When OBJ noticed that he couldn't achieve his aim, he then handed over to his closed friend's brother, sicker Yara'dua.
According to Nigerians, Yara'dua was too dull and sick to contol a big nation as Nigeria. He then later died of his sickness within the 3 years of his regim.
After Yara'dua's death, GEJ who was the next to him took over according to the constitution. According to nigerians, GEJ was too cool and dull to handle the corruption and insecurity challenges facing Nigeria during his regim so he was voted out and PMB was voted in subsequently with the hope that he is the messiah.
Unfortunately for the nigerians once again, PMB failed them for not meeting up with his promise.
The most unfortunate part of the story is that each of the leader was perceived to be messiah while becoming the president but nemesis while leaving the seat and later missing after leaving the seat.
Which way my country?

Hello everyone, My name is Victory and I don't know how to tell you this or what format to follow

On 31st May this year, a day after my birthday, I resigned from a mining company where I was working in Jos because working terms and conditions no longer gave me what I wanted in a job coupled with the fact that I was fed up with ONE MAN BUSINESS and promised myself not to work with any again.

Immediately I got home that day, I was excited to receive a mail inviting me for an interview with a multinational organization. To cut the long story short, I ended up doing interviews with three different companies within two weeks in Lagos and I resumed with one of them just last week.
Where I am now the pay is 100k per month for my position, accommodation, staff bus to and fro work daily with no other benefits for now, it is a one man business that is just starting up in Abeokuta and I am enjoying working with the company though the job is tasking and demanding but I am learning daily...

Just yesterday, one of the three companies called for me to resume this Friday in Lagos...Please find some benefits that come with the position below as I was told during the interview and from a source within the firm. Though the start up pay is half what I am getting in Abeokuta;
1. PENSION
2. INSURANCE
3. 13TH MONTH
4. TRAINING AND RETRAINING
5. CAREER GROWTH
6. JOB SECURITY
7. EXPOSURE
ABOVE ALL, IT IS A MULTINATIONAL ORGANIZATION

Now I have between now and tomorrow Thursday to either resign in Abeokuta or reject the offer in Lagos
Please I would like for moderators to help move this post to where it can be seen quickly for advise, thank you
