eyya after a whole lot of bullying and psychological tuoturing by oyinbo kids ! I can understand . how many monkeys have been called since you started ? You better hustle and join BIS lekki or day water college or America international school abuja as a principal where you will earn 10m per annum with respect , peace and prestige ! Than teaching some silly oyinbo kids that will keep laughing and harassing your Yoruba accent hegg for eggs ! So learn dodging skills to fight off knife stabs cos most teachers in oyinbo land and under constant risk of be stab or shot for simple thing like pronouncing eggs as heggs .

AISA pays it's main USA trained teachers about $40,000 a year. The head of school would make far more than that. No Oyinbo will agree to 10m per annum salary.

Even returnees probably will earn more than that.

I would have doubted it too until I watched a YouTube video of an NBA player who made more than 100 million USD in his career but retired bankrupt.

What did he do with most of his money? Spent it supporting family and friends.

Keeps clutching straws.
The 30b usd is their change that is 4x our foreign direct investment.

Absolutely, diasporeans are suffering. Our 130 million poor are enjoying.

You keep clutching your straws the real figure is $20bn but I dashed you the extra $10bn to satisfy your delusion that you guys are helping the country survive with your chicken change.

Please preach to your fellow diaspora folks to stop remittances forever, let us see whether Nigeria will collapse.

Finally, you seriously overrate yourself. You may be shocked to meet uneducated people in Nigeria that make your entire income for one year in one week.

No be lie for Abuja at Apo I meet illiterate traders making millions in sales everyday.

Move on. Your delusion is appalling.
Travel / Re: Why Are Nigerians Japing To The UK When UK Workers are On Strike For Poor Salary by LagBlogger(m): 6:33pm On Jan 03, 2023

First, the sum has risen well above 20b usd and over four times our foreign direct investment.

It only captures the sum sent through official CBN channels which I can tell you is cumbersome. A good chunk of remittance is not captured in this.

Whatever reason they send money back home for, they'd have first paid tax, accomodation, food, and some even mortgage and cars e.t.c. Hence in economics whats left is called discretion income i.e change

Investing in Nigeria is hardwork. Not many prioritise this. The growth of the economy tells you that. The naira has lost 26% of value against the usd this year. I.e, anyone holding usd eithout even doing anything is already 26% up. Why wouldn't that person seek investments in their abode and avoid the hassles of some thieving relatives. On average, the naira loses 10- 20% yearly for the past 40 years. Yes, some make investments back home but most have been severely burnt and have vowed never to.

Hence the remittance figure you see is indeed a small portion of the full picture

Once again you are wrong. Let's pretend the remittances is $30 bn per year, the official GDP is a gross underestimation of real GDP.

Checkout thisday article that explains how our informal sector is not computed: https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2022/07/11/the-informal-economy-in-nigeria/amp/

Nigeria has the third largest informal sector in the world as an estimated 58% of true GDP which means if informal sector is captured we should be talking at least $830 bn.

Your remittances then would be less than 3% of true GDP even at $30bn.

How I arrived at 57%? Do your research yourself.

Read my post- used Budget not GDP

The diasporan remittance for 2021 was 20b usd
The national budget for 2021 was 13.6 trillion equating to between 27b usd - 35 b usd depending on the prevailing exchange rate used at the time ( cbn or parallel)

Remittance sent home by individuals is spare money left after attending to necessities where they're based.

The GDP comparison is equally impressive when you take into cognisance that GDP is one measure of the total economic activity... i.e stocks, oil nd gas, telecommunication, businesses in different sectors e.t.c

Money can be made anywhere. Japa is not for everyone.
That one made money in Nigeria or declined migrating does not mean inaccurate information about folks elsewhere.

Facts are facts...

There are 2 million Nigerians living abroad. $20,000,000,000/2,000,000 = $10,000 on average per annum.

This cannot be spare change. So you are not reeling facts.

Most Nigerians abroad send home substantial money for investment as backup plan in case things don't work out well abroad.

$10,000 by any standard is a substantial amount. Why would they risk such if Nigeria is worthless?

Not all of it will go into investment, some to support family back home but the bulk of it will be for investment.

To answer your silly question - name the hard working Nigerians and their trade?

Just like the few examples above and the millions more pushing their hustle locally.

FYI. It is your place to find out not for me to mention them.

But here is an assignment for you. Checkout list of 10 richest men in Nigeria.

When you find anyone that ran abroad and made it from there, you know you have small sense.

This is proof that you hate self education, typical sign of ignorant 'na me get sense pass' folks.

Continue to write off the country and pretend to yourself that no one can ever make it from here.

Japaring is for people that have tried their hands here and failed or given up.

Some people are okay closer to home and they are doing fine without looking for short cut.

Don't forget to use your HQ there too. It is not about where the grass is greener but how you tend to the grass.

Yepa!!!! Am in serious shock.

So their God given talent was not known to them till they travelled out. Like they didn't know this before travelling? Woooowwww!!!!

Back to reality.

Bottom line they became rich and famous here in Nigeria after returning from abroad not the other way round.

They did so because they saw potentials in the local industry and unlike you didn't write off Nigeria but returned to make their mark.

What makes you think you're using your HQ. What about the others that grew here locally who are equally making it Olamide, TU face, WC, Iyanya, Psquare, Asake, KCee etc.

They first travelled abi before they found their talent. May God help you to learn how to use your HQ

Happy new year to you. Good experience you have.

Few times I respond is mainly to correct wrong narratives so they don't linger.

Largely, there are two groups. Some from posts back have failed in their attempts to migrate hence hate. Others lack the mental know-how to compare issues across developed and developing nations. Between both are folks who could ve doing well for themselves but enjoy the sea of poverty around them. They can't stomach a better society

Sometime back one was comparing food prices and explaining how food was expensive in the west. After proper tutoring, he saw that food was at least 10x more expensive in Nigeria than in the UK.

Another is tax... I used to fear this before migrating but now, I laugh at my reasoning then. I still explain to them that paying high tax is a privilege many aim to achieve. These are countries that feed and house struggling citizens. It simply means, folks are encouraged to work so they don't depend on the government. Hence tax rate is hardly an issue. The higher, the better.

Another was when they used to mock migrating health workers. I had to explain to them how Nigerian health workers abroad were suffering and begging for food while their counterparts in Nigeria owned private jets.

Another is the current strikes fue to record high inflation of 10% in 2022 (highest in 40 yrs). Meanwhile, Nigerian workers have been battered by roughly 20% inflation for a decade.

Another is how diasporeans are suffering. But these abroad folks who constitute less than 1% of our population are able to send back remittances that equal our national budget. This is the 'change' they send back after paying tax and sorting their needs abroad...

Misconceptions go on and on. I stick to facts when responding. That way, it's not difficult to separate wheat from chaff.

All said, I'm not against those who want to stay back or those who want to migrate legally. No formula fits all.

Such arrogance.

So everyone who disagreed with you tried to emigrate or are not as smart as you are or they fall in between and don't like progress.

Silly talk.

Remittances to Nigeria was $20 bn in 2021 less than 4% of GDP. The bulk of GDP comes from hard working Nigerians who choose to make a difference back home rather than opt for a short cut to better living.

Some even turned down offers to travel out but you have the temerity to look down on them for not thinking and acting like you.

The returnees in music industry i.e Don Jazzy, Tiwa savage, Oxlade, Dbanj, banky w and so on are doing far better than you but are still humble enough to understand that people can still find success back home in Nigeria.

This is even only one sector - music. I haven't touched ICT, Fintech, Real estate, transport services, civil service etc.

You seriously overrate yourself.

I'm a pharmacist. When I was planning my move back to Nigeria in 2008 or so, I actually had a good chance to get employed at a major pharma in Nigeria but I hated Lagos. I also thoroughly investigated the pharma business for investment opportunity. I can authoritatively tell you that pharmacists, even at the major drug companies, don't earn much. Basically, extrapolating from what I found out back then, 99% of pharmacists in Nigeria today earn less than ₦‎500K per month.

A pharmacist friend of mine also moved back to Nigeria from the USA and started a pharmacy business. He imported from abroad, got all the NAFDAC approvals and secured contracts selling to all sorts of hospitals, public and private. The business thrived for a few years then failed.

You can talk all you want about other things, but that your pharmacy story is FALSE and I say that because I know. In fact there's a pharmacist that moved from Nigeria recently....actually about 5 years ago....at the time I met him he was working at a grocery store. I talked to him at the time and he had nothing good to say about Nigeria. I'm sure he's doing very well now, in fact I should call him.

Have a good day.

It's unfortunate I am quoting you a second time but some people will read your comments and believe your negative and un-informed talk.

It would seem you roll with the wrong crowd because there are returnee pharmacists from UK with stores in Wuse 2 and Lokogoma who are doing well.

This is even a subset of a subset of returnees so if your friend failed probably doesn't know business or was not lucky.

Others are succeeding where he failed.

Over 99.95% of Nigerians are POOR. Take it or leave it and it's mostly because most of what they use for modern life is IMPORTED, including petrol! So the reality is you earn naira and spend on dollar priced goods.

Again, most importantly, how many Nigerians earn that ₦‎200K per month? The best figure I know is 0.5% according to reputable surveys and by my own observation. What are the chances you're among them? A cousin of mine that teaches at a private elementary school in Owerri earns ₦‎17K, an Access Bank banker with 7 years experience that migrated to Houston in 2013 told me his salary was ₦‎150K.

Your ₦‎200,000 is $250 dollars or £200 It's practically NOTHING for even the poorest person in the UK/USA and only 0.5% of Nigerian workers earn that much. That about says it all, don't you think? The median income in the USA is $65,000 per year, meaning HALF of all families earn that and Nigerian immigrants are acknowledged as one of the better earning national groups in this country.

OK, someone earning £40,000 in the UK is poor, but Nigerians in that place still manage to send billions of dollars back to their relatives, they build houses, pay rent and health & education costs for their relatives.

That person earning £40,000 likely lives in an apartment with all basic amenities available 24 hours except in case of weather or disaster. Only 7% of Lagosians have that available to them. Low wage earners in the USA own cars, how many people own private car in Nigeria?

Even poor me that started out earning $3.50/hr in the USA, I managed within 7 years to build a house in Nigeria, buy car for my family and put myself through university with zero loan, I paid cash out of pocket.

The important thing is that only 0.5% of Nigerians earn the biggie ₦‎200K....not to talk of £20,000 per month grin You have nice dreams though.

Nigerians are POOR, they're suffering from debilitating poverty, that's why most people living in that country can't think straight. You're a perfect example. You and the other FAKE high earners in Nigeria are not worth discussing anything with. I believe what others have said on other threads - you're probably a frustrated university student or teen projecting their dreams.

I'm done indulging you. This is my last post to you and your kind.

You're talking nonsense. I earn over 600k a month from my side hustles and I know a lot of people who make far more than that in Abuja.

Lagos has far more people earning more than that.

I am not even in the top 2 to
3% of earners in Abuja and Abuja can't compete economically with Lagos.

When you visit construction sites and see how Nigerians are spending money on houses then you know you're talking nonsense.

My wife and daughter traveled to her village in August for 3weeks and they were supposed to be back before the school resumption but she changed her mind saying her mother was seriously ill that she has to extend her stay which was fine by me and when they returned back I noticed that she has lost so much weight which I asked her why she said it was due to the stress of caring for her sick mother which is normal.

She is her only daughter and oldest of 4 her younger ones are boys so they cannot take care of their mother better than her. Here is the reason I got her arrested, during her stay in the village, her 14 years old brother raped my daughter. This is one of the reason she overstayed in the village. She didn't tell me anything about my daughter being raped she and her mother had decided to give her treatment and cover the idiot that repeatedly raped her and when she came bck she didn't say anything to me but she confided in her prophetess which in her turn has started spreading news until it came to my ears that my own daughter was raped and her own mother has kept quiet and I can imagine if it was a member of my family that did the abominable acts the whole world would have heard it and she would have done everything in her power to put in prison.

But because it is her own brother, she has decided to keep quiet and not knowing the world is small and not secret is hidden forever. I took my daughter to the hospital the result has confirmed she was tampered i was devasted she has been the best wife to me and she has helped me and my sisters to reconciled in the past but what she has done to me it is unforgivable and I have arrested her and when I bail her I will divorce her and take custody of my daughter.

I don't know if I need advice or not but your input and suggestion are welcome I will be reading all your comments.

Op arresting your wife means you're ready for divorce and you are prepared to go any length to protect your daughter which in this case is reasonable.

If I were you, I would do the same thing but I will pretend I want to settle but arrest the idiot of a rapist and mother-in-law first, then arrest the wife second before filing for divorce and sole custody of the child.
