Grupo: What is the difference between remittance and wire transfer? In the case of CBN promo, only funds received via International Money transfer operators like Western union, etc are eligible. Wire transfers is directly from sender's bank account to beneficiary bank through their correspondence bank |

There is always offshore charge for wire transfers.
Usually, the sender bears the charge. I'm guessing this particular sender opted that the "beneficiary bears offshore charge", thus you were charged.
It has always been 25usd. Next time, ask questions or you use Western Union to receive your money |

Poanan: they have 70% as pg cos they very stupid courses. As a non science student once u dont go for law or economics u also doomed cos u may end up with classical studies. What happened to departments like sociology, theatre arts, CLA, music, English, linguistics, Sociology, Political sciences, geography, philosophy, psychology, History etc?? Or you're waiting for Accounting and business administration? Mind you the school's pursuit in the last decade is to focus more on postgraduate studies. That's why the school reduced number of intakes for undergraduate programs. |

RomanGreen: Take away govt accounts domiciled with Zenith Bank and let's see where they are or is it the arbitrary and random sms debit charges...Nigerian banks don't do core banking business, as for the Fintech you mentioned, don't worry it's only a matter of time before banks start looking for deposit, Cryptocurrency is mopping up idle cash in bank accounts, wait till a larger percentage of the world population adopt cryptocurrencies then we will see where banks are.... Why would I leave my money idle in the bank at the risk of inflation and very little interest when I can secure it's value with USDT or buy digital assets that will increase it's value...just wait till adoption becomes massive. I am not rooting for banks neither am I against the new norm of digital currency and technology. My earlier talk is on the role of traditional banks in corporate businesses and trade financing. For many reasons, these functions cannot be handled by fintechs, at least not yet. Also, the country encourages them and give us little or no options than to run certain transactions thru these banks. |
Phones › Re: FG Intervenes As MTN, Banks Trade Blame Over Shutdown by LaIabobo: 8:41am On Apr 03, 2021 |
RomanGreen: Nigerian banks as usual feeling cocky, time shall tell who will outlive each other, traditional Nigerian banks who has refused to innovate or Telcos about to embrace Fintech that will push Naija banks out completely. Fintechs can not take over the functions of a traditional bank. Fintechs can't even handle invisibe and bills not to talk of trade business. Despite all the fintechs in the western world, the banking industry is still strong. Zenith is the most profitable bank in Nigeria, you think it got there by focusing on retail customers?? A major reason is commercial banking. |

Sad. I can imagine what you're going thru.
I was in this same dilemma some years back, I'm glad I made the right choice of turning down the offer, as govt brought out new regulations and the company had to fold after a few months.
After that, I got some other offers, but I decided to decline them all and now I regret that decision.
Sometimes, these things are beyond our control and you shouldn't beat yourself up.over it.
You sound like a good man, may God open many more doors for you. |
